@@DanielHarrisCodes bingo, another great example! I think Trent's even gone on record as saying that's Johnny's song, now 👍🏻 One I'm looking forward to learning on harmonica!
It's a sign of time. The original asks and pleads for a better world. This version expresses the dissapointment and desperation after 50 years since the original that nothing changed for better.
I’ve been lucky enough to hear that Verizon live when I saw them in concert and OMG their cover puts chills down my spine listening through ear buds but hearing it live in person it was just on another freaking level
Disturbed didn’t just remake a song, they made a masterpiece in their own Sound but also paying heavy homage to Simon and Garfunkel. The pure Energy this song resonates while giving you a clear picture of the power of the Sound Of Silence
@julie ytuarte .... agreed ... in 1967 i saw the movie "the graduate" and heard the simon & garfunkle soundtrack and fell in love with both ... listeneing to disturbed's version, there is a feeling in my chest which almost explodes, and brings me to tears .... nice reaction, nathan!
@@syrahlover someone else said this aptly. the S&G version was like a gentle reminder that people need to communicate better with each other.. Distrubed's version is a clarion call.. because we are not listening
A brilliant achievement, such that the genius who created the song said "It belongs to Disturbed now." Excellent response. I'd like to thank David both for his body of work and his concern for those of us battling chronic depression. It's wonderful to have such a champion.
I remember sitting in the truck when I was little, when his song came on. I started crying at the high point while staring out the window at the rain. It felt like I was in a movie. I wish I could go back to that moment
When this version was first released, Garfunkel tweeted a one word reply to it. "This" He said that he wished this was how they did it. He gave this song to them. "It's yours now."
First time I heard this.... cried like a baby. Such power and intensity. Heart thumps to every word Love Disturbed as a band, but this cover was SUBLIME
If Simon and Garfunkel were telling you about what was going to happen, Disturbed have taken it up a notch or three and given you both the warning and the threat. I cried when I first heard this..... what a powerful, moving cover of this song by Disturbed ❤ I love this version more than the original...... 🥰
I grew up with the original and didn’t think I could love a song more… until disturbed did this version. It has so much power , it’s so touching in the beginning then it builds and builds and then soft at the end it makes you want more when it over.
Disturbed is beyond talented and incredible. They have the most brilliant way of remaking a classics and making them truly brand new while still recognizable and giving the respect that the classics deserve. Every cover they make in comparison to the OG is mindblowing. This one here is one of their best! The emotion is breathtaking.
This is a cover of an original classic. I think this version is the best. I Also feel that it is really relevant and representative of how people are behaving today.
I grew up with the original by Simon & Garfunkel. My youngest daughter shared this version with me. My instant reaction was "Oh gaww you know I hate remakes *eyeroll*". But I hit play, thinking I'd give it a chance. And with the first word sung, I was absolutely enthralled! The power & emotion of this version is absolutely breathtaking!
Just came from your TT and commented that no matter how many times I hear this song it causes a deep emotional response, it's one of the most moving songs I've ever heard, you should watch the video and it is even more insane if you know Disturbed's regular music, also the there is a video of the singer talking about how they came to record this.
David Dramen is classically trained. He has one of the most versatile and unique way of singing. Never ever heard anyone putting enunciation on consonants as he does with emphasis on the N rather. Love him and Disturbed 8s one of my fav.
Your facial reactions say it all !!! This is an amazing cover of a brilliant song, 1st done by Simon & Garfunkel warning us, if we don't change our ways we are headed for destruction, and Disturbs version is angry, because we didn’t listen to the warnings... 😌 I always feel this song is like an emotional rollercoaster ride, slowly bringing us to the top, then quickly crashing to the bottom.....Great reaction!!!
Thank you Simon & Garfunkel for writing this song… thank you Disturbed for singing it the BEST it could ever be sung… EVER. Thank you Nathan, for including this classic. Such depth in the lyrics. ✨
I discovered this band almost 3 years ago when I saw the 2015 official video on UA-cam. It gives me goosebumps every time! Be sure to watch it. It’s been viewed almost 9 billion times. The lead singer, David was a Jewish cantor in his youth before joining the band in 1995. They are a heavy metal band but not every song they perform is metal.
I have been a fan since the absolute beginning. I make sure to attend at least one concert every tour. I will forever support this band. I have done MANY meet and greets with them and they have always been the most amazing and genuine guys. The fan base has ALWAYS felt like a family. Shows are NEVER rowdy. I personally have stood next to toddlers and parents on the front row/pits. And everyone has been protective and accommodating of them. You will never find a more amazing band to be proud of nor a more amazing and loving fan base. We are Disturbed 🤘
Im an old head from waaay back and a serious classic music lover of all kinds for 60 years. I have almost 20k songs downloaded, everything from '40s country/western to r&b to gregorian chant. Just wanted to say recordings like this is why we keep coming back. To make us feel. Music is able to touch us deep where we live and no one can take that from you. Great reaction, NB!!
This song always gives me goosies! The message behind the song is so deep and necessary for modern man to hear. The "neon God they made" is a nod to TVs and now today's devices. We are always looking at our devices and not connecting face to face. Something like that. :)
This is hands down my favourite version of the song. It’s played regularly in my house and always with the volume up! I’m new to the channel and a Londoner and so pleased we were introduced through one of my favourites. Thank you☺️
I read in a comment on a different reaction video to this song. They said Simon and Garfunkel sent the message and Disturbed showed the rage because the people didn't listen. Poignant.
For me, one of the best covers of all time Ridiculously amazing to take an already amazing song and then do this. It is just so POWERFUL ❗️My head was blown the first time I heard it 🤯 life changing
Well done review! I love the fact that you listened all of the way through so as not to interrupt the continuity of the song. And then listening to your comments, you get it. (I will admit that I literally laughed out loud in the beginning when you commented "so gentle," because I knew what was coming.)
The moment your eyes closed was the moment I knew you were understanding the music, the song and the vocals. That was when they touched your heart. Thank you for ALL these videos.
If you have heard it or don’t want to listen then it’s fine but I have a recommendation. The song is called “Wish I was in love” The song is sung by John michael howell.
This is one of those songs that reaches across all boundaries of race, religion, economic standing etc. This song makes me cry and I don't even understand why...
The original was good in it's original form, but there is NO DOUBT that this version carries such an emotional weight that the original seemed to lack that it's amazing.
Your brudda there! Nmmmm, your brudda, who is your brudda?? I must know!!!! Secrets don't make friends! Lol 😂 love the channel my dude! Keep it up and I'll keep watching!
The amount of control a metal singer needs is so amazing and no one ever really gives them the creditnfor that they need. Disturbed is one of those metal bands that can do so much. Absolutely love em. Wouldn't mind a reaction to The Used-Let it Bleed or Aiden-Die Romantic.

The original version is a classic in itself, but Disturbed's take is on a more emotional level that I dig a lot.
Disturbed : Simon&Garfunkel :: Metallica : Bob Seger
The originals will always stand but sometimes an artist comes along and just owns a classic!

The live version they did on Conan was mind blowing
And Conan was so excited for them to be on!!

Simon and Garfunkel gave us this song for a different era. Disturbed gives us this song all over again. So relevant to our world today. Love both.
I read a comment somewhere that S&G's version was an early warning, and Disturbed's is an angry reprimand for us NOT heeding that warning.
A wonderful tribute to the original, it paid respect and also elevated it. It has a different feel from the original but it’s so good
David's voice is incredible. This is my favorite song by Disturbed.
Hands down the best male vocalist! This voice is unbelievable 🙂
Easy now…. He’s no Freddie
Hes good there's no doubt. IMO opinion it's Freddy and brent smith
