She bought a dress not in her "then" size, but the size she planned to be. Only her "plans" did not come to fruition. Check at the 5:25 mark for her words.

I think her point in saying that was that even though she was hoping to lose weight, she actually gained weight instead

Sure, but at the same time for her it was clear that the character was a symbol for what she wanted to look like and be like. Many people have idols that they wish they would feel like on their big day-s, it doesn't mean that you don't want to be yourself, just a version of yourself that aspires to be like X. It's quite sweet to me in all honesty, and there isn't a right or wrong in what people do for their wedding, so if that's her thing, good for her.

Also, getting a smaller dress with intention to lose weight is stupid anyway because losing weight doesn't always mean you get smaller in proportion. I lost a stone recently and only my chin and hips got smaller, everything else stayed the same. You can't bank on your waist being smaller - you may just have wider set ribs!

1:04 The designer for Bella’s actual dress from the movie was Carolina Herrera. The Alfred Angelo version is the mid range version of the dress. You can tell by the shinier fabric and the two darts in the front which are not on the front of the original gown. I wonder why Say Yes To The Dress wouldn’t credit the correct and original designer?

....because they don't sell Carolina Herrera in shop which was most definitely custom for the movie, but they do sell the Alfred Angelo knock off. It's also a manner of licensing. Shows have to get the rights to post images from the designer or the brand and if they say no or it's too expensive to pay them to post the image from the designer, they won't. It's why often times the brief for the show will tell the brides and families not to wear anything with visible logos/brands in general or they are forced to blur them out.
It’s because they only show the dresses that are in the shop. She knows what Bella’s dress looks like so there’s no point showing if it’s not available in the shop.

the wedding scene in twilight is one of the best scenes in the entire franchise. anyone would want to recreate it but i always envisioned that something flowy would fit the setting more giving the ultimate forest fairy vibes.

I looove when a dress is super slinky and body hugging, but then had a thin tulle layer at the back, that’s not the veil. It looks so delicate and beautiful.
I was the smallest I've even been during my wedding and the seamstress took it in the 1.5 inches we marked instead of letting 1.5 inches out. I put it on the night before and almost passed out I was so sick to my stomach and beating myself up. Luckily, my Mom's friend was a seamstress as well, came to the rescue, corrected the mistake, pressed it for me and saved the day. Thank you to Carol, wherever you are these days. :) The dress this girl decided on was absolutely breathtaking on her. Congratulations.
It's good to remember that the sizing can be a seamstress error. I cannot imagine that she gained the amount of weight it would take to not get the dress shut without realizing it. The next size up was also big enough that one would expect the next size down to fit (granted, she probably dieted after the disaster fitting).

You can’t seriously have just figured that out. It’s been obvious from the beginning. She just doesn’t make a big deal of it. She’s very unassuming. It’s her shop, she’s entitled to do that. Everyone who actually goes to Confetti and Lace knows it’s her shop. She actually carries a huge variety of brands, and her name isn’t part of the shop name.
They could have just added a lace up corset back to the dress that was too small. Then if she gained or lost weight, the dress would fit her perfectly on her day.

Don’t the designers themselves have to approve that since that’s changing the structure of the dress? And to add the “corset” they still would have had to rebuild that portion of the dress for the support structures needed

The girl whose dress was too small -- was she planning on losing part of her ribcage to fit into it? Weight loss/losing inches is one thing, but you have to remember you still have bones inside your body that aren't going anywhere! She looked beautiful regardless of size.
I think there might have been a fault in the making of the dress... I read somewhere that the actual experience is nothing like the show and number go wrong alot...

Fun fact, a lot of Twilight was filmed in the town that I live in! Bella’s house is on the top of a hill downtown, and that whole scene when they’re all in town buying dresses is like a mile away from my house

@@naturallyamused not a ton for Twilight, the house is an Airbnb so there are always people staying there, and some shops have little signs like “this is where Bella stood in blah blah blah.” It’s also the town where Spirit of Halloweentown was filmed, so we get a TON of tourists around Halloween- so many that we can’t go downtown during the week of because it’s just packed wall to wall.

I had an illusion neckline for my wedding 3 years ago but I'm Egyptian so it matched my skin perfectly, it was practically invisible. I actually thought that was so interesting that most of them matched my skin since most flesh-toned things tend to be coloured for white people (at least in North America). There were only a couple (out of the maybe 10 with illusion necklines that I tried) that were too light-coloured for me and I hated how that looked

He’s the best Say Yes to the Dress shop/series in terms of really listening to the brides, making them confident and staying in budget, even lessening the cost of a dress in some cases so a bride can afford it and be happy..so everyone loves him like their favorite auntie :)

There was very little lace on the actual Twilight wedding dress. Just a touch on the end of the sleeves. But the dress this girl chose was beautiful and suited her very well.
The dress she said yes to is absolutely drop dead gorgeous on her, a perfect fit for her body type, her character and what she wanted in a wedding dress. Stunning.

Actually, the gal with the Bella dress is shorter-waisted than the dress, which is why it was wrinkling up in the front just below her breasts. You can see it at 7:34. I hope they altered it for her because those wrinkles really distract from the overall appearance of the dress.

My issue with twilight is that toxic relationships are glamourised. Book Bella is better than film Bella (as per usual) but Edward is just creepy and Jacob is obsessive

@@milliejay1451 if you look hard enough at any book, any plot, any story ... there will always be issues. I completely understand where you’re coming from, but it was a teen romance novel meant for entertainment lol so like the last comment or said, I like it regardless :)
The books were a little cringe but I loved them, they were great stories overall. The movies on the other hand... I can't even see stills from the movie without cringing in remembrance. I really didn't like the movies at all. Tbf I didn't watch the last ones, so I'm not sure if they got better by the end.
I am also obsessed with the saga and I LOVE bella's wedding dress. not her expression when she was coming down the aisle though. can someone explain why she looked so uncomfortable and nervous?
I think her expression is due to the nightmare she had the night before ... And until they were married I think Bella was anticipating that the Voltari would suddenly appear and ruin everything (what do you think?)
@@amandasnow3255 oh yes. i thought that she was thinking that her dream would come true but in the books and movies she rarely is afraid of him so that's why i was confused! but her nightmares are really vivid so i'm sure it bothered her a little bit. thanks so much for responding! none of my friends like twilight, they all make fun of it :/, so it's nice to have been able to talk with someone about it. :)
I've always thought it was because Bella is super duper shy so having to walk down the aisle in front of a big crowd, in very high heels and her clumsiness basically being a personality trait, was like her worst nightmare
Basically in the books and in the movie. The dress and heels were daunting to her. She was shy and embarrassed having everyones eyes on her. But the closer she walked to Edward the more confident she got. She knew once she was in his arms her fear would wash away
Also in the books it mentioned how she though this was embarrassing like a dance or prom, but them once she saw him her expression changed cause she knew it was right to get married

Yeah but corsets are hard inside or have a good elastic to keep the tightness consistent all throughout, doing that w this dress would be a fuck up if its not done right and might accentuate rolls n fat - -depending on how thin or thick the fabric is
@@belli9281 it doesn't have to be a literal corset, they could just add the same fabric into the gap with an invisible zipper in the middle, and cover it with a lace corset illusion
okay but i absolutely love lauren's choice of dress... it really does capture the essence of bella's dress from twilight but is still very different and dare i say might be even better looking than bella's dress

Twilight wedding scene and Crazy Rich Asian wedding scenes are my absolute favorites. The one from Crazy Rich Asians is SO over the top but it had such special elements that I love (could never afford but love)

People act like a wedding is a giant production. It's over will in a couple of hours. My wedding started at 6 p.m. ended at 8:30. We had the ceremony and the reception. I didn't get to dance with my husband. Everything just went by so quickly. We had a good time the ceremony was beautiful I cried the entire time. The food was a bomb. Brisket and pulled pork, macaroni salad, veggies, rolls. It was delicious. We had cake and sparkling apple cider. 🤗

I looked up Bellas dress from Twilight. It's designer and several thousand dollars. That material, crepe, it difficult to wear. I know bc I gave a dress like this and despite my weight loss, it doesn't look right. Lol. Lesson learned.

As a bridal stylist I can tell you with certainty that if you are ever in doubt, get the size up. They can always take in, but letting out is a bitch. And more than that when you say you are "losing weight," there are a lot of factors to consider. 1) How will you lose the weight? If you plan on working out at the gym you may look slimmer but its very possible that you actually gain weight in muscle 2) It takes about 8 pounds to see the first inch of difference then it could be like 15 or more pounds to lose more inches 3) You wont necessarily lose weight where you want to, could be in your butt, waist, hips, anywhere. 4) Remember that size doesn't equal fit, your bust might be in a 14 but your waist could be in a 10, your stylist will always accommodate the largest part of your body first, the rest can be brought down in alterations. 5) Bridal has less give because it is typically made out of fabrics that are true to fit (satin, chiffon, etc) so it isn't necessarily your normal size at the department store.
