"I would like to spend less on my dress so i have more money to spend on my wedding", now i like that way of thinking
I want to spend less on my dress and on my wedding so that I can spend more on my food 🤣
@@noelsmaison685 Food and drinks are some of the most expensive things you will pay for when getting married. Especially if you pay for a full bar.
Yes!!
I want to spend less on both so that I can spend more on getting a house to live in after the reception. 🙃
Right. If ever I got married I would love to have a simple and intimate wedding. Garden or beach wedding. Family and close friends only. Sometimes simplicity is enough.
I hate the "age appropriate" stereotype. If a 40 year old bride wants glam and sparkle why not!? If a 20 year old bride LOVES lace and pearls.. why not!? Wear what makes YOU happy and makes you feel beautiful.
Well put! 😊
AMEN 👏🏻
Exactly I have loved lace and pearls since I was a little girl. And it might look too old on me, but that is my taste, who cares. She should also go for whatever she wants
Agreed!
Finally someone said it 👏🏽
Oh these brides are intelligent
Getting what they like at lowest price
I didn't know this kind of specialized shops existed. It's a very good idea.
@@mayamorabito1669 there are usually shops like this in Roman chatolic churches/religious sites that brides donate to sell for profit given to humanitary causes.
@@LadyNikitaShark oh! This is completely new to me. I think it's beautiful that someone else could use it instead of it sitting in a closet (then again you may want it to become family heirloom?). Anyway it's beautiful and generous.
@@mayamorabito1669 Agreed. It makes a refreshing change to the bridezillas on the US version. Its one day!!
Hi I didn't like your comment because it has 999 likes and it's so cool
How refreshing to see dresses that still look fab without costing major bucks.
I know: particularly that the one the second bride chose. It looked so deceptively simple yet chic and expensive. True elegance like that isn't cheap. Even at US$3000 it's not bad value.
Exactly
If you go for old colections or unknown marks/designers they are not overpriced.
But these dresses are all marked down drastically! The last dress was originally $3,000. So the fab look still originally cost big prices.
While I did not like the first dress, I think it's a shame she felt she was too old for it. If you prefer simple and classy, ok - but if you want a princess gown, get a princess gown, whether you're 21 or 61.
Actually, Ithink the dress she actually got was even more youthfull/playfull, so it is all a matter or perception. Good for her for getting it, although I fear she might have not, if someone have called it suited for younger brides. She looked beautifull.
@@Wriwnas1 I agree, that dress looked much more youthful to me as well - I just think it's sad that she could not go for the dress because SHE wanted to, but rather because of the whole "suited for a younger bride" debate.
@@junimondify Yeap! I agree with you.
Well said!!💙💜
Yes! You are so right
You can't call victoria fussy when you start with such hideous dresses. Period.
My thought exactly, though in England we would say “full stop” because you’ve come to a full stop. That pink one looked like my mum’s friends bridesmaid dresses.
Seriously!! That pink one he showed her... Dear God
Her budget was only $500 though so can't really blame them
Those dresses were hideous!!!
Only hideous in your opinion . others have opinions of their own
She doesn't like few dresses on the rack and David immediately brands her as FUSSY fashionista??? 🙄🙄🙄
All he says is scripted. The producers write what he has to say. So it wasn't really his fault
Because her budget is so low, he won't say that if the budget is unlimited.
Gok is the best
Well David always offers the out of budget dresses to brides regardless of the budget. He pushes brides to go over budget and always shows the hideous dresses
@@maryamnaveed2392 true that's it's scripted. That being said I wonder if he's objected to any of the lines.
“Fussy fashionista”? How degrading shes just picking a dress and doesn’t like the hideous ones you pulled...she wasn’t rude about it
The only one I really find kinda strange was the one with the pink belt. That looked more like a costume dress. The rest seemed decent.
S Kitty
Your opinion doesn’t matter for her wedding though, if she doesn’t like them she shouldn’t wear them. Also “decent” isn’t good enough for most brides.
I was answering someone else who said they were hideous. I never said I had any power over what the bride chose. I actually liked what both brides in this episode picked anyway. Chill my guy.
S Kitty
Oops now that I re-read my comment I realized how rude that sounded, sorry it’s just I have a problem with always seeming like I’m talking with a condescending tone when I translate my thoughts into text lol
It’s all good!
Remember the Grandma who paid for more than $2000 while her budget was 500? I feel sad to remember that and knowing the fact that you can get pretty dresses below $500 :(
Omgg yes I watched that too !! The bride was so spoilt and took a dress from 2600 like that's alot if the budget was 500 !!

David has his strengths, but with these bride's Randy or Auntie Gok would've been a much better guide. David lacks the kindness and practicality.
I'd hate it to be him. He lacks empathy, that personal touch. Seems to look down on people. And he made that awful skirt on Princess Diana's dress that looked like she'd slept in it. Said they'd forgotten to take into account the huge size of the train, and the tiny carriage, when deciding the material
Agree! I think he only see his clients with a dollar sign on his eyes. More money, better treatment 😑
And tact...
@@jacqueline8559 could you comment a link to a video about the Princess Diana dress? Everyone seems to be talking about it in the comments whilst I'm lost cause I've never seen it lol
He is condescending and does not listen.
I don’t like the way the tiered short veils look. Longer ones so much more elegant 👌🏽
that really depends on the person. i myself dont like the long ones. i think my ideal would be the elbow length
@@marleenb2979 I don't like the long cathedral veils much
I don't think its the problem that it's tiered, the edge is too harsh. If it had a softer edge it would look more elegant.
He keeps putting them on too high as well! They sit so much nicer when they're on the back part of the head instead of on the crown...
I had a cirque veil on my wedding day and it was placed quite high since I had a high bun. When the blusher part was pulled over it hit right at my waist and cascaded over my shoulders. After it was pushed back, the layers just flowed down the back so beautifully. I actually didn’t take it off all day and night which most brides do but I couldn’t part with mine. It’s all in how the veil is cut! For all you ladies in America, the veil is from Anthropologie’s bridal line bhldn. I think it’s bhldn.com. No I’m not affiliated or anything lol but it is a beautiful veil!
If she’s paying for it & it’s for her wedding... she’s entitled to be a “fussy fashionista”.... 😒
She could dislike as many dresses as she liked. She was paying. He wouldn't have said that if it was, a 10,000 pounds dress.
I never knew that they have dress in this range too it is good to see that
They don't. You couldn't make these dresses at these prices, you couldn't even buy the fabric. These dresses are all used, and have been donated to the charity shop by the brides who bought and wore them first. Then, the charity shop, having gotten the dresses for free, resells them at very low prices. So you're right, it is a wonderful service. But dresses of this quality aren't being, and _can't be_ manufactured at this price. Hence, you're lucky if you've a service like this in one of the charity shops near you.
@@MissJessyeNorman They did say that some of the dresses were samples from last season - not already worn - and the second bride's dress was donated by the designer. This shop belongs to Oxfam, a huge multinational charity.

The gown that the second bride chose may be my favorite dress I've ever seen on this show. So simple and beautiful!
I thought the same thing. Gorgeous.
Me too. Honestly, I've never really been impressed by any of the dresses on this show bit that one was truly special. Classy and unique.
Agreed! I don’t know why more brides don’t go for the simple and elegant look. It’s so beautiful
The words "age inappropriate" should probably be reserved for babies not swallowing tiny toys and gradeschool youngsters not playing rated M horror video games. Not wedding dresses! Yikes!
I can't believe she looked so beautiful in the first dress but they told her that her cousin would look great wearing it instead but not her. That first dress was completely "age-appropriate" for her. She looked so lovely. She shouldn't have listened to her Entourage. They made her think she was supposed to look plain and boring bc of her age. Terrible! And you can tell she's not even old!?
I get especially annoyed with that “mutton dressed as lamb” comment.
Wow. That’s nasty.
Or the other stereotypes… the bride planning her second or third wedding…

He's terrible and judgy.

alot of times "age appropriate" is misused and women dress themselves so old fearing someone will call them out for what they wear, just like the mum did unnecessarily. Dont let shallow ageist rules dictate what you wear.
In 2020, and with millennials refusing to spend extravagantly whether they can afford it or not, this show has changed. I'm proud of SYTTD for moving forward with us. $5,000 dresses are unrealistic for our current society.
Omg you’re right it was great optic choices from the show producers & execs. This appeals to an even bigger audience
Wow that might just be the first time they didn't mock the budget or try to go over their limit right from the beginning
An attempt to redeem David Emmanuel 😉 I mean buying a “bargain dress” just means that you’ll have more money for the honeymoon or future house or the rest of the wedding
The halter gown looks so sophisticated and classic. This one looks like it cost a lot than the other gowns that cost a diamond in this show
Hoorah for women who don't want to spend a fortune on a dress!
Got that right! ... total waste of money to pay thousands IMO
Yeah but let's not judge women who want to spend more on it. They might be rich or just right financial planning so that they can have their dream dress. Some women just want their D-Day to be special for them. It's like a celebration of their love and life.
@@taiyabazaheer9492 Please don't call it their "D-day"
@@Ashford369 - What does that mean? D-Day? I've ony heard it as a WWII reference.
I loved the second bride's dress. Stunning, classy and no bling for a change. It makes a change to see something simple and the price! Far more within the range that most people can afford and want to spend.
The grandma at the end was so lovely! It was most important to her, how the bride felt in the dress - "Her eyes are sparkling."
The second bribes figure in the last dress was breathtaking, imagine being able to carry that elegant satin silhouette as gorgeous as she does, wow !!!
She is the bride ... She should feel like a princess !! No bride should hear the things they are saying ...she is NOT to OLD for anything in the shop ... let her choose and be happy ..and feel like a PRINCESS , no matter her age ...and she is beautiful !!!
Is it me or anyone else liked these dresses more than those that are overpriced 🙂
You have good taste. Expensive ones, look no better..
David is the best.
Me too ! :) But I really value simplicity an elegance in fashion and those are often prices according to the quality of material, not amount of bling and drama :P :)
They could have been very expensive when they were new. You will get better quality for your money when you look at used clothing. If I paid full price new for everything in my closet, I’d be broke lol
You only wear it once why pay a fortune if you don’t have to!!!!!!
Bride: Budget is $ 2,000
Emanuel: *Gives her a dress double her budget*
Other bride: Budget is $500
Also Emanuel: *Gives her a $100 dress*
This is a “special” episode- they’re filming at at charity shop not the usual designer boutique (Oxfam is a charity and their charity shops are very common in the uk)
I saw the episode you’re referring to, and it did annoy me too as there are definitely stunning dresses at that boutique for closer to the £1000 mark, I really annoys me when they don’t respect the brides budget... however, I also kind of felt that bride (and others in a similar financial position) were seriously looking in the wrong place for their wedding gown! She needed to go to a different store more in her price range which would have had equally beautiful gowns that are just a bit differently made to fit a different budget.
You can definitely get an amazing wedding dress very cheap if you’re happy to compromise a bit, honestly more brides should be more open minded to buying second hand or from other places than just expensive bridal boutiques, especially if you have a more “typical” or average figure, so things tend to fit you easier. I’ve seen the most stunning brides in dresses that cost as little as £100.
So, in this episode, since this is a actually a charity shop with a special wedding dress focus, the dresses are mostly second-hand used donated dresses, or new cheaply made dresses, or older dresses that stores can’t shift as they’re out of style, or with minor faults or were used frequently as sample or try on dresses etc... So not quite the same as buying a brand new designer dress in a top bridal boutique which comes with a higher price tag.
Lots of brides donate their dress after their wedding so another lady can get their dream dress at a fraction of the cost. I donated my own wedding dress because I wanted someone else who couldn’t afford it to be able to enjoy the dress on her wedding day as much as I did, and what’s the point of it just sitting in a closet for years when it’s only been worn for a day.
@@birdwithabrokenwing Oh, I see, that makes more sense, lol she should definitely have looked at a less known bridal shop for better dress options
I absolutely HATE that age makes people not go with dresses they look fabulous in... on a more positive note, as someone who spent less than $150 on my wedding dress and veil, I absolutely LOVE this version of the show where the dresses are aren't (in my opinion) overrated? I know that sounds terrible but I don't think designer and price tag should determine how you feel in something
I spent 200 on my dress. It was exactly what I wanted. Couldn't be happier. Sometimes my mouth drops when i hear the prices on some of these shows.
Agreed 100%. I bought my dress pre-owned for about $400 (new it would have been $2100-$2700) and it already had a bustle added and was fitted to my measurements so didn't need any additional alterations. It was one of the best wedding decisions I made!
Fascinating they brought David and Gemma to this shop. Kinda like it.
I liked two things
Her cousin approved even if she didn't liked that much
They actually PULLED OUT a dress IN THE BUDGET
Ah finallyyy
Yessssss they didn't ask her to stretch the budget and I am so happy!
These dresses are at a charity's shop - Oxfam is the charity. Most are used and donated; some are never worn samples.
The two most sensible brides I have ever seen on this show! Both are stunning in thier gowns!
I'm thinking the halter dress might have been Givenchy or something. That was heavy, Duchess Satin and exquisite, couture level tailoring. I dunno, but it was definitely next level.
I know right and it accentuated her most strongest feature , her shoulders
I would never wear this dress bc is not my style. But it looks gorgeous on her! Simple and elegant!
Nice to see that didn't cost a small fortune...
The last dress looked so classy and beautiful on her.

"You don't need to spend 5 grand on a dress to feel glamorous" well said! I got my dress for $175, ball gown. Day/pictures turned out fantastic and we were able to spend more on the cake LOL

So basically they are getting rid of all the dresses that didn’t sell. That’s cool. I love a bargain. Keeping in mind, it will cost $200 to $300 for alterations. That’s still a great deal.
Both dresses were very pretty. So much nicer than most of the Gaudy gowns that you see No ugly fake bling Great choices lots of money doesn’t mean you have great taste😏
The bride is so beautiful she would literally look good in any dress
This place is really horrible. They impose their tastes on the brides and they're rude. Fussy fashionista? Horrible. These people could learn a thing or two from Kleinfeld's in customer service.
It's not "this place" that's horrible - it's these people. David Emanuel surely has no credibility after that awful dress that he put Lady Diana Spencer in on her wedding day. How can make someone who became so chic and stylish, look so frumpy.
At least Kleinfeld’s never pulls a dress over the budget! On the plus side this is the first show I’ve seen with attractive dresses at these astonishingly low prices.

so, are the prices low because the dress has been worn before ? or are they just initially cheaper ?

@@janeeyre80 ????? What is sad?
I have some basic sewing skills and experience with vintage as I love thrifting old clothes. A while ago I came across a gorgeous vintage 60s/70s wedding gown online after a bit of casual browsing and digging. There was a big revival of Victorian, Regency, and Medieval styles 50-60 yrs ago and the dress I bought is a high neck, mesh lantern Sleeve, A-line gown with embroidered cuffs and a huge lace embroidered train and it looks like a flowy, princess-y dress straight out of a Victorian dream. I got an incredible deal on it as it was a little yellowed and had a big stain on one of the arms. But with a little research, gentle soap, and a few hours of work, I have it back to it's original color, unstained, and good as new. It's unique, it's exquisite, and it's a reflection of me and my efforts, and in grand total I've spent $40 and a few hours of cleaning to get a beautiful gown. The idea that you should spend so much money on a dress is patently insane, you will wear it once. You should find something you love and feel confident in, but there's not only one dress out there, and you don't have to spend thousands to find something perfect!
Wow that last dress on the second bride was stunning! Would have loved to see it with her hair pinned up and a bird cage veil. So timeless
1) The simple dress with a halter is an easy Yes--it's perfectly stunning on her, & 250 pounds is an amazing price. (Still would have been overpriced at 3K retail.) 2) With larger breasts, I'd avoid strapless styles that tend to show a wrinkle of cleavage above each armpit. 3) Glad to see them showcasing budget clearance gowns for a change!
It's not common where I finish an episode with David in it without being ANGRY about how they DISRESPECT the budget !! Well done david , you learning to respect peoples budgets 😂😂

I wish we had shops like this in the U.S. So many amazing looks at prices people can actually afford. Not everyone can or wants to spend thousands on a dress they will wear once.
There a show based in the US aled I found the gown which focuses on budget dresses that have been reduced, similar to syttd
Consignment shops have low prices. That's where I got my wedding dress for $150. Yes, it was someone else's before, but I didn't mind that.
I loved the gown with the pink satin accents. So unique and pretty 😍
Honestly, if someone said I was too old for a dress, I would probably buy it out of spite. I contacted an old friend from high school, and she told me I was too old to have long hair at 30 and I remembered, oh yes, THIS is why we stopped speaking, because you're so judgmental. I still have long hair and I'm a lot older than 30 now and if anyone says, "You should cut your hair," I tell them, "You should f**k off". Same thing applies to wedding dresses - pretty much anything, really.
Though the brides have low budget.... I love that they're treated with the same respect and attention as high budget ones. 🤗
Not simple or plain, understated and elegant.
loved that they showed a bride who wants to be "subtle" and not wanting all the attention on her...finally someone i can relate to lol
When they put the sparkle belt on, she looked PERFECT!
I love that this focuses on feeling beautiful but at a lower price than most of the shows. It shouldn’t be about spending thousands on a dress, it should be about finding something that works for you and your budget so you can enjoy your big day without worrying about the credit card bills for the rest of your life!
Tori is my favorite, "I just like a bargain" hahaha and such an elegant dress! Gorgeous

victoras dress pick is one of my all time favorites ! I just love the simple ones satin the halter, just adore this one! i would love a long lace vail and it would be perfection!
I DO like this episode. Everyone needs to remember that SAMPLE wedding and formalwear are usually no larger than a size 12, which can be a fit that is much smaller or larger than the actual "number" on the tag. You just have to try them on. In my part of the USA, the church I belong to has both new and donated items in their stores that are open to the publc. You CAN find a nice wedding gown but you HAVE to watch constantly the best gowns get bought immediately, as our area tends to have a higher percentage of couples that choose to marry.
Finally, brides that don't want to spend thousands on a dress that will only be worn once. That second dress was stunning.
The second girl...I gasped and started crying...it's the wedding dress I would have chosen! It's stunning. If I ever go to England, I would want to buy a dress inexpensive just to support Oxfam and wear the dress around town. Marvelous. 250 quid for a $3000 dress. That is cracking!
