In my country (Indonesia) we use it in daily life 😅. "Tulapia fish the size of adult palm", "Sejengkal (the length between the tip of your thumb and pinky when you spread your fingers) galangal", "One hasta (the length between the tip of your fingers and your elbow) of fabrics". It's not a standard use. Just some traditional measuring techniques.
Here’s a tip for the chunjang (black bean paste). Coat your measuring spoon with oil before scooping so it slides off easily, otherwise it will get messy! This trick also works with gochujang (red pepper paste)
This Lent, I’m trying to eat fish and chicken on weekdays only and pork and beef on the weekend, sometimes. My goal is to be healthier and to exercise more. It just so happened that Lent is already tomorrow when I realized I wanted to be healthier. So, definitely adding this to my favorites! Thank you so much!
I got the chance to try it out for myself yesterday - even though I substituted the chicken for tofu, since I don't eat meat anymore - but I have to admit that this was absolutely delicious! Thank you for the great recipe - Please keep them coming! :D
8:00 -- that's the moment for sure, you guys truly achieved your "future neighbor" brand. There's nothing like going over to your cute next door couple's place, eating with them, enjoying their company, and seeing them have a cute moment where you don't know what they're saying 😂💛
Oh my... that looks and sounds- sooo good. Well done Daniel, you must have been very pleased with this...fall of the bone chicken (I saw that drumstick 🍗) 🥰🙏🏻🙌👏🏻
Longtime fan. Love the exact measurements and clear explanations. Maybe one day you can create some instant pot versions of all your dishes. All the best to you, Daniel and Katie. So grateful to have your videos!
This looks so easy, hopefully I can find the black bean paste somewhere, we have Asian supermarket here but I've never been in! Time to go explore I think, looks amazing. I have dried birds eye chili peppers from my tree at home, I bet they'd go great
I like the burnt rice and laver that they serve with it at the end of the meal in the restaurants 😍 please can you show us in another video. I remember I had it in a famous jjimdak chain near Hongkik
I made this for dinner tonight. It's 5 min from done and smells amazing. I did not have noodles. Since this is the best part I will need to make again very soon with noodles.....
I just love that recipe! Made it twice already. The first time, since I didn’t have enough chicken, I also added a turkey tigh and… omg the taste of it!!! I thought I would prefer chicken but really, turkey gives it even more deep! And I also replaced sweet potato by turnip, and it was amazing!! Less sweet, I presume. I’m making it tonight for my guests. Thank you guys! Love your channel.
The turnip idea is amazing! Do you think if I omit the alcohol it would still have same taste? I was trying to look for alternatives to this. It says to use rice vinegar...but add a 1/2 teaspoon per tablespoon to counteract the sourness. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm gathering all my ingredients today and going to make it tonight. Thank you !! Lots of love and hugs.
I’m gonna make this dish tonight:) and I realised I don’t have that black bean paste so imma just gonna make do with Korean chilli paste and some soy sauce. Wish me luck ❤️🔥🔥
Ha! I've had this exact sort of enthusiastic response to this channel before. Every recipe I've tried out has been fantastic, with some really surprising ones that looked deceptively simple but were powerhouses of unexpected flavour. Please pop back here and let us all know if you triumphed with this one and if your neighbours cried with envy when they smelled the vapours coming out of your window ;)
@@bubbles2836 my HMart doesn’t have these peppers. Strange... I asked for help, showed screen shot of pepper 🌶 I think Future Neighbor is going to be famous in Maryland USA cause every week I go in looking for the ingredients for Daniels dishes
I'm in the same boat. Googled said to use rice vinegar. 1/2 teaspoon per tablespoon to counteract the sourness. Haven't tried it yet. Will keep you posted!
Hi can you please add here your measurements of ingredients and also where to buy some of your ingredients or substitute if sone ingredients are not available to in the market or grocery store. Thank you!
I've never had store-bought cheongju, but I made my own once and it was a bit tart/sour. Would that be good for this or should I try to source store-bought cheongju?
If there's one thing I've learned after watching these videos, is that you can use your hands and forearms as units of measure

Problem is i am tall and have big hands so i end up with huge portions
As a carrot lover I must protest!
I love your girlfriend's reaction to your food. That's one of the best parts of cooking--feeding other people well
Katie's enthusiasm for this makes me want to make it 10x more. So cute.

Thanks for the tip
Loved hearing the Korean. Paraphrased: “just eat like there’s no camera. You don’t have to talk. Just eat.” 😂
The 찜닭 looks amazing!!

Usually Katie is the adorable one when it comes to enjoying food. But Daniel going into food trance... yeah, I felt that :D
I tried this recipe yesterday and that broth is so delicious! I'll definitely make this again! Thank you!

wants me to get a gril friend kek
I made this twice, it's so good. But I have to try it with the black bean paste. That is a game changer for sure!

IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS RECIPE FOR SO LONG
It made me feel like to leave my country and come to Korea and settle there forever. It looks amazing ❤
Thank you I always trust your recipes and just made this today for my kids. 😊
Watching this at 11pm. My tummy is growling 🥲
Oh, this is very good! Coming from multiracial country, this claypot recipe is so similar to our many crossed cultures dishes. Thanks, Daniel.
Made this today and it was really good! Great recipe, thanks! I also used Chinese tianmanjiang for the black bean paste.
I made this for dinner tonight. It's 5 min from done and smells amazing. I did not have noodles. Since this is the best part I will need to make again very soon with noodles.....
"Nobody likes carrots...we're just doing this for appearance."
Finally; the truth comes out
ikr
I love carrots! I guess you just need to find someone like me to share this with. 🙃
Nahh carrots are amazing!
I love carrots
Its in my monthly rotation. A great Saturday meal on a cold night
rock out with your wok out
The body-based measurements give me life.
Thank you.!
can't wait to try this when the written recipe is posted!
Looks sooo good.
Is there any alternative for sake or cheongju?
Can you update with written recipe my husband wants me to make this 😃
I love this, I don't eat meat anymore but I'd love to make this for someone
you should try to make it with king oyster mushrooms!! they'll absorb all that sauce just as if it was a piece of chicken :)
@@asgardener ahhh thank you I'll try that 😊 😊
Wow, the perfect dish for a cold winter evening. Thank you!

watching. It's beautiful. My guests always happen to be non-vegetarians, so I'll try this
Just have this simmering on the stove now, waiting on the rice. Can’t wait to try it out
Thank you for this one ❤️
I love carrots! I especially love the carrots in jjimdak!!!
i forgot the paste at the store, so i’m using gochujang instead. i hope it still turns out good!
so gooood! thanks for recipe
This recipe is really delicious ! Thank you for sharing with us !
Thank you so much for this recipe! This was one of my favorite dish when I lived in Korea. Can't wait to try it out
Look delicious thanks for sharing your recipes
Good recipe and delicious food ! Thank you and love from Canada 🇨🇦 💗
Yass!! I’ve been craving this since I had it in Korea!! Miss it & can’t wait to try it out!! Thanks for the recipes!! ❤️
Where can I send you a knife sharpener?
Some of us actually do like carrots. So I guess I can just add a bit more if I make this. It does look delicious.
I made this last night sans the dried peppers. It was AMAZING!
1:20 I feel attacked, I LOVE carrots, can't go one day without eating something with carrots.🐰
Amen!
I love raw carrots but they get so yuck when they're cooked, especially for this long. Raw carrots are the best!
@@KittyCat260 agreed, they have to be sweet tho
Delicious, thank you for sharing

Oh my! Just when I had my weekend dinner planned already. Damn it!
I like carrots 🥕🥕🥕😁 Awesome dish👍
That looks very delicious. I will cook it too. Greetings from Germany.
I can do this! Grabbed my keys and I’m off to the grocery store ✅

Hi, as for alcohol subtitute can i just put water instead? Or should i just skip the alcohol?
This looks delicious
I made this, AMAZING!
I love carrots!
Good substitute for spring onion stalks? I can't find them anywhere in my city
I wish non-alcoholic substitutes would get a mention. Some people want to try but can't have alcohol coz of dietary or health requirements.

How long can you keep the black bean paste after opening it? I have a packet and don't want to waste the leftovers.
감사합니다
You genius!
In a pinch can I use the regular glass noodles?
Hello, happy new year to both of you! what IF I don't have the brown bean sauce? Can you suggest something else?
I didn't make this but I made the eggs with the sesame oil and soyhu tatse great quick and easy 🍳🍚😋
Share해주셔서고맙습니다
is it important to keep bones for extra flavor? otherwise, could i debone and then use stock i make from bones instead of water?
I’ve been dying to make this!!!
Are those dried peppers the same thing as gochugaru?
whats the difference between chamisul and cheongju? thought they were both soju but different brands
Love carrot, hate sweet potato.
Thanks for the recipe!
ㅋㅋㅋ 말도 안돼! So for my birthday today, I actually ordered 찜닭!
Is cheongju the same thing as soju?
If we don’t have the chunjang what do you use?
Yummy
Can you use skinless chicken pieces or boneless skinless chicken pieces instead?
Where can I buy the fermented black bean paste?
This looks amazing! But is there an alternative to the noodles? I’m unfortunately allergic to sweet potato 😭
Must be amazing if there's an extended eating session in the end 💯
I like your sweetness so much, a follower from Egypt🌸💞
This shit looks amazing! I'm here for it. Can you sub starch noodles for those thicker noodles if you wanted? I imagine you could.
I've never had store-bought cheongju, but I made my own once and it was a bit tart/sour. Would that be good for this or should I try to source store-bought cheongju?
LookS nice! But I don't see when you put the yellow onion in...
I use plain flour and water instead of milk for the chicken. Same purpose to get rid the smell of the chicken.
Dang it! I should’ve known better than to watch this at night on an empty stomach. 🤤🤤🤤
Is there a difference between doenjang, chunjang and jjajang?
How long to soak those noodle ??
Not gonna lie when you started squeezing stuff out of the chicken it made me gag ahah but im still gonna try making this
Just use chicken thighs and drumsticks and you can avoid squeezing out any extra gut and stuff
أتيت مبكرا 🙂💪🏻😁
can u do a recipe on pa muchim
I love carrots
