Born and raised as a Christian in Chicago I loved rock-pop music since before I was 10. Jesus has blessed me with the gift of music. Loving it and playing it-drums, guitar, and vocals. Terry Kath went to Taft High School where I lived. He was about 5 years older than me. I loved listening to Chicago's bands, the band Chicago, and many other great Chicago bands(New Colony Six, Cryan Shames, Buckinghams, Styx, etc.. I follow Jesus closely, but I can listen to a lot of rock music unless it dishonors God who gave us all breath to sing and play music. My wife who recently passed on to Heaven was nicknamed, LADY, at Curie H.S.in Chicago. She had a jacket with the name, LADY, on it. When I married her, I told her, LADY, is my favorite song by Chicago's Styx band. It's a beautiful song, and I had the most Godly, lovely, and beautiful wife. I look forward soon to being with her in Heaven. She was a bit of Heaven on earth married to her. Today would have been her 65th Birthday.
As great he was as a singer, I think that his bass playing is more impressive. If he wasn't singing, his bass would be great, but to do both? There are very few that can match it.
This is the most lit live performance. The studio recording is fine, of course. But live? This thing just gives me goosebumps all the way through. The crowd. The emotion in the playing. When each member of the band gets their turn to really go to town. Shit, even the announcer is out of his mind. Just the most lit performance ever.
Chicago is my favorite band. There was a chemistry with the original members that molded their sound. Unfortunately that changed drastically after Terry Kath died. It's nobody's fault it just happened. Nobody could ever replace TK. He is probably the most under rated guitarist of all time.
I saw them on this tour and I loved Donnie Dacus's sound and input...He wasn't Terry, but he was a breath of fresh air..I thought. Donnie is a great talent, and left an impression on me as a young 15 year old guitar player.
F’k yeah!!! I don’t care how bad your troubles are... Listen to this song and get stronger ever day! There is no adversity without opportunity. Believe in yourself You can do it!!! I want you all to not only feel stronger but GET STRONGER!!!!
The Beatles have been my favorite group for a long time, but acquaintimg myself with Chicago has changed my mind. Chicago is my favorite group, hands down. They had it all, and they take my breath away.
Lots of energy. For what it lacks in clarity it makes up with urgency. They were still young men. Being that this is just a year after losing Terry Kath, I can't imagine what they were feeling. THE SHOW MUST GO ON. AMEN.
I agree. In my opinion, numerous other classic bands had the songs (like the beatles), but Chicago had the best musical ability. And the best part was, they were in their twenties when they started, and could still blow these rookies of today off stage!!
hcmusic - you sd it perfectly - I saw them w/Dacus twice, and the energy he brought was great, and he was a great player - having to step in after Kath was one of the biggest 'no win' situations ever, and I felt he handled it VERY well
one of their best tunes, & searchin for so long, are two of my favs..what a great band 3 kick ass vocalists, great drummer, all great players, horn section what more could you want, of course great writing..Chicago had it all, unfortunatley now they sound more like a cover band of themselves, but thats what they are, w/o Lamm i wouldn't even think they would bother to tour anymore..well they had a great run..
This is maybe my favorite Chicago song. The last few years when they play it live, they only play the second half of it, added on to another song. I really wish they would play the full version! I miss it.
The American people loved and loves Chicago very much, there are many comments from fans who say that when they were kids they only thought about Chicago from its beginnings, I lived it in the 90s and 2000s when their songs were played all the time on different radio stations, at any time. time of day, and this is one of the best, if they are well loved and Peter Cetera more of a soloist, they are the AMERICAN identity.
Couldn't get better than this in the 70's. Still think Chicago and it's band members were under rated . Maybe because of the way they played as a tight and harmonious group overshadowed the individuals in the band, great musicians that they were and still are. Keep rockin' Chicago!
They always hid behind the famed CHICAGO logo. They wanted it that way. Humble midwestern boys who were more about the MUSIC and not so much about fame and egos.
El pueblo norteamericano quiso y quiere mucho a Chicago, lo viví en los 90 y 2000 cuando pasaban a cada rato sus canciones por las diferentes radios, en cualquier hora del día, si son muy queridos, son la identidad AMERICANA
When I heard them in Des Moines in the summer of '73, they opened the concert with this song - i was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY - THEY HAD ME AFTER THE FIRST THREE CHORDS AMAZING!
I saw their concert in Des Moines in the summer of '73. The Pointer Sisters was their warm up. Their first song was "Feelin Stronger Every Day." What a show. I was totally blown away. Fifth row. My ears rang for two days post. I'll never forget those first three notes from Cetera's bass. Cetera is in top form in this video. I'll bet that breeze felt good.
No, I think that award would go to The Band. "The who" you say? Precisely. They're probably best known for being Dylan's backing band when he went electric but they had had many years on the road before then. When backstage people (not the stagehands) asked who they were, the standard response was "Oh, that's the band.". They figured it was a good enough name as any so they kept it. Music reviewers thought so much of them that they called them the Canadian Beatles. They were all from Canada, except their singer drummer Levi Helm (an Arkansan I believe) who, even after death, remains a legend. Their fusion of gospel, rhythm and blues, and rock (born from playing all the little honytonks deep in the backwoods) was dynamite and their seminal first album "Music From Big Pink" (the color of the house they lived in around Woodstock, N.Y.) just blew away legends like Eric Clapton. He handed their tape around to other legends like George Harrison I believe and word is be had really wished he could have been their guitarist. Check them out on "Up on Cripple Creek", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" (which was the most covered song when it came out) and "It Makes No Difference" (gut wrenching, if you've been there). I saw them twice live. The were damn good!
Deep down they really can't get any respect. Last I heard, they are the third biggest selling American band in history with well over 100 million records sold worldwide. The only two groups ahead of them are The Eagles and I KNOW I should know the other band but it to darn early in the morning to think lol. Take in mind I said American so bands like Zepplin and The Beatles might have sold more but they are, of course, not American bands.
I saw Chicago on this tour - I was 11 years old. I was playing trumpet in school at the time, so this was a huge deal for me. Still one of my favorite shows all these years later.
As a child growing up in the 70's, my parents were young hipsters who had the best music collection including Steely Dan, Santana, War and of course loads and loads of Chicago. It's no wonder I turned out to be a musicians. Thanks Chicago!!
I bought this song on a 45 when I was a kid. Played it over and over. Pete wrote some great songs, many in fact. His voice was fantastic. Chicago is without a doubt one of my all time greatest bands I really dug. And I'm from the Chicago suburbs. I've been searching is to me their stairway to heaven. Pankow wrote this and others. What an unbelievable song. Brings tears to your eyes. Peter is one the best singers ever.
Amazing these songs, This band their songs brought such good feelings it's so amazing they captured the great mood of freedom and peace, joy and beauty in our physical world what a place huh? they really are in tune with what its always suppose to be this life, joyful Loving remember that no matter what Love wins God "is" Love

Early Chicago is easily one of the greatest bands ever. But when Kath died the soul of Chicago was never the same.
Take a good long listen and watch closely, young one's, as Peter Cetera's performance is nothing short of legendary. A true rock god!
I agree 💯
Peter you are absolutely brilliant my dear brother and homie XO Rosie from New York City
Right on there will never be another
And the horns!!! And the wind loved it all, too!
Because he’s high AF😂
Look at Peter being all sexy with wind in hair and a angel voice.
I love watching PC sing and play bass at the same time. He makes it look so easy.
Absolutely.. monster of a Bassist.. completely underrated.
I never seen him play bass before. He was plucking that thing.
As great he was as a singer, I think that his bass playing is more impressive. If he wasn't singing, his bass would be great, but to do both? There are very few that can match it.
Wow! Cetera's vocals, Dacus's guitar and that brass really cooks this performance!
Omg don't even have words peter is the greatest !
When Chicago was "Chicago"... in their prime. Cetera was amazing both in the band and as a solo artist.
I LOVE the windblown hair!!!
me too lol
This is the most lit live performance. The studio recording is fine, of course. But live? This thing just gives me goosebumps all the way through. The crowd. The emotion in the playing. I saw the same show in Melbourne never forgot it just so awesome ! 👏👏👏
Chicago is my favorite band. There was a chemistry with the original members that molded their sound. Unfortunately that changed drastically after Terry Kath died. It's nobody's fault it just happened. Nobody could ever replace TK. He is probably the most under rated guitarist of all time.
No doubt.... Him and Brian May of Queen... Very underrated
@@jeffvanschoonhoven5171 Brian May underrated? Are you an idiot?
I thought he died in 1980?
@@topangus123 78*
underrated by who? jimi hendrix said that chicago had the best guitar player he'd heard. so.....??
Love the windblown hair.
That’s a music lesson right there.
Peter is a true Rock Star. He sings,
Lays bass, performs great songs with that powerful voice!
Sooo fricken good! I miss this kind of legitimate talent so much.
Yea me too
Ahh those horns. Made Chicago sound so BIG and this song so perfect.
One of my favorite Chicago videos. These guys sound amazing. The brass is unbelievable.
Peter Cetera could really rock it in his prime, he really could.
Yes, he is the best.
I agree, totally miss Terry Kath though.
Cetera sounds great even today. Maybe he can't quite hit those upper octaves like he did back in the day, but still sounds damn good
Rock funk hard
Robert G. I agree, he really sounds awesome even with this poor recording!
They picked up the pieces after losing Terry😢 and did an amazing job! Luv Chicago forever!
Peter's hair in the wind 😍😜🔥🔥🔥🔥
Head to toe gorgeous too!!!
thank god for UA-cam. So we can relive it.
My all-time number one favorite song and my "feel good" song of choice .
Hard to believe that Peter is still doing this song in concert....37 years later!!!! Beat that!!
He is still amazing at the age of 72.
Well Paul McCartney is still doing songs that are over 50 years old. Just sayin' .......😄
David Weaver Peter is the best and he will always be the best , he is my No.1💜💜💜💜💜
He retired a few years ago. What a legacy.
Best live version of the song that I've ever heard.
Especially without Kath
I saw them on this tour and I loved Donnie Dacus's sound and input...He wasn't Terry, but he was a breath of fresh air..I thought. Donnie is a great talent, and left an impression on me as a young 15 year old guitar player.
And he was great in Hair
CHICAGO RULES!! This is Chicago in their prime, with Peter Cetera as frontman/vocalist/bassist! Peter is truly the Rock God! 🎸😎🤘👍💯🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵
His voice sounds so pure! I love it!
F’k yeah!!! I don’t care how bad your troubles are... Listen to this song and get stronger ever day! There is no adversity without opportunity. Believe in yourself You can do it!!! I want you all to not only feel stronger but GET STRONGER!!!!
Btw, I love this song!!!
Yup. This song had the power to lift me out of the deepest funks.
The Beatles have been my favorite group for a long time, but acquaintimg myself with Chicago has changed my mind. Chicago is my favorite group, hands down. They had it all, and they take my breath away.
Chills down the spine. Can’t believe I’m only discovering these guys just now at 24
You're lucky!! Lots more to enjoy!
Hate to say but Cetera looked pretty damn cool!
Definitely! PINK jacket and the WIND in his hair! 🎶💋🎵
Why would you hate to say it? Because you're a guy? Pshaw. Cool is cool. Sexy is sexy. Call 'em like you see 'em. No shame in that.
Love his voice love the way he moves around ,he could never be replaced , there's only one Peter cetera 💜💜💜💜💜💜
etc.....
YES!!!❤❤❤
Yes!!💯

That horn section hook is fire ...🔥
Drove through Rockies early morning with this song blasting.
That’s where they recorded the song.
@Changes4TheBetter Yep, pulled me thru many an episode of depression. Might not be alive today were it not for Chicago's music. Thank you Jesus.
PC is phenomenal in this performance.
Love that Spector NS-1 bass!
hcmusic - you sd it perfectly - I saw them w/Dacus twice, and the energy he brought was great, and he was a great player - having to step in after Kath was one of the biggest 'no win' situations ever, and I felt he handled it VERY well
My favorite band of all time.I finally got to see them in concert July 17th 2009 in Seattle. Extra special treat Earth wind and fire.
one of their best tunes, & searchin for so long, are two of my favs..what a great band
3 kick ass vocalists, great drummer, all great players, horn section what more could you want, of course great writing..Chicago had it all, unfortunatley now they sound more like a cover band of themselves, but thats what they are, w/o Lamm i wouldn't even think they would bother to tour anymore..well they had a great run..
Wow!! What a Killer fucking song to open with.
This song is so well written... I honestly don't know anyone who hears it that doesn't like it!
One word : FANTASTIC !!!
This is maybe my favorite Chicago song. The last few years when they play it live, they only play the second half of it, added on to another song. I really wish they would play the full version! I miss it.
Seraphine is the best drummer I have ever seem, and I've seen Buddy Rich! :-)

Wickedly awesome performance

Love Chicago! Amazing, awesome band!
i love the way the wind is blowing through peter's hair. oh sigh....
When I die, and if I get to heaven, and if Cetera does too...*this* is the version of him I hope God sends to me.
Oh YES!!! 😍
I love Peter back in the day... 🎶🎶
Just saw him 3 night ago, still great.
PETER CETERA RULES! WHAT A PERFORMER!
so cute
When I heard them in Des Moines in the summer of '73, they opened the concert with this song - i was TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY - THEY HAD ME AFTER THE FIRST THREE CHORDS AMAZING!
Awesome Peter Cetera Rocks
This is pretty much my favorite song by Chicago.
Same here.
Me also
Cetera's work in this song definitely shows us what a Rock-God looks like. Man was he good!
I love the stong ending to this song

classic Chicago. no Kath is a bummer. still awesome
My favorite Chicago song, lots of turmoil during this time in my life, I made thru
Amen to that that guy and the horn section made this band stand out in the early days. Rock on Danny!
I can’t understand why this song wasn’t a number 1. I think it’s their best! The keyboards are the best part - other than gorgeous Ben’s voice😊
He is a legend!!!!!
Peter is a very underrated bassist.
As a child growing up in the 70's, my parents were young hipsters who had the best music collection including Steely Dan, Santana, War and of course loads and loads of Chicago. It's no wonder I turned out to be a musicians. Thanks Chicago!!

Peter is God's gift to woman. Hands down.
Is it true that Karen Carpenter was lucky enough to date him?
Really? Karen is my favorite female singer of all time.
Peter was asked to write a song for her. He did it is on you tube with him on back up vocals.
Couldn't have said it better!!
Are you gay?
Could P.C. look and sound more like a rock god here? ... A hard act to follow.
I think Peter here the GOD!!!!!
