You guys are great!! , Cool amps. cool guitars, cool tones, cool guys!! Hoping to see another show in 2018 (I saw the last one, it was great!), I wish I was born in the 50´s....
Hey, Doug and Pat. Love your show. If you're ever in Vancouver, Canada, drop by for coffee. It must be warmer here than Portland because we don't need to wear our Toques all year.
Don't you boys be toyin' with me. If you DO get the Rev. WFG, ask him to bring along the pink Jimi strat & Pearly. By the way the pups in the ol' Heritage are the best sounding yet. CHEERS.
That Celestion alnico spkr on the Vox sounds very clean.. deArmond made great pickups back in the mid 60s. I ordered a set of " DeArmond 2000" single coils back in 67.. The DeArmond amp is definitely a good jazz amp.
That Vox is sick! Love the tones! I did a little research on the model, and it seems like they're kind of rare. That example seems to be a little bit of an oddity too. The silver speaker is probably adding a lot to the tone.
Hi guys, I have a luthier friend up here in Montreal Canada who has a DR25P amp in working order, sounds great and we use it in the studio all the time.
I am so glad to see you guys back!!! This is my favorite UA-cam show!!! I was wondering since you're Vox guys, if one day you could review the new transistor Tiny vox amps ?
If that yellow coat had wider lapels I would swear it was 70's leisure suit. Are they cool again now, cause I may still a white belt and matching shoes if I dig through my closet.
When is PAT going to play some guitar?? You guys have been playing so long together, I bet you sound really great together. Really glad you guys are back.
Tune in for the Tone... stick around for the High Fashion. Outstanding work! Would you guys consider a show about amps so obscure they're not even intended for guitar? (But guitar players do what guitar players want, so we use them anyway!) Some specific amps being certain Bell & Howell "Filmosound" models, Hammond organ amps, old Stromberg-Carlson PA's from the 50's & 60's and other such "High Voltage Conversions," as they're sometimes known. (Seems to be a trend these days.)
If you compare the schematics of the Dearmond R15 to the 5E3, you'll find them to be darn near identical. A few coupling cap values are different; that's about it. But the transformers in the DeArmonds were rather different. Much more substantial, in the DeArmonds. That said...there's a LOT of DNA in common between these amps the 5E3s...
Doug has a 1970 Traynor YBA-1A which is called the Bass Master Mark II that he used for years onstage and in the studio. It has transformers the size of toasters and with only 2 EL84's it is the loudest amp ever. It sounds like a 100 watt Marshall plexi but with more gain and top end. It's also a speaker blower as Doug found out the hard way. We'll drag it out someday if we can lift it. D&P
You guys must have met each other in a business sense. One was buying and the other was selling WEED!! Hehehehe , QUIT BOGARTING THE GUITAR and let The other guys play. I LOVE Y’ALL, ROCK ON!!!!!
I will get slated for asking this - I've been watching Doug and Pat for a while now (great reviews, knowledge, playing AND proper funny) BUT I can't find any clue as to who they are i.e. are they known players from known bands (everything seems to point that way), I mean most enthusiastic amateurs don't have access to THAT much cool gear to play with, and the playing and note choices are well honed. Who'da hell are they? Love from U.K.
The fact is we are not rock stars (yet), we're a couple of guys in Portland Oregon with serious hardware and can play well enough for the demos. We don't think we're alone in this as there are a lot of great non-star players out there with great old guitars, we just have a video camera, recording studio and no shame in using them. D&P
2 episodes in one day !?! too much coolness for a man to take ! thx !!
Coolest guys, coolest jackets, even better playing
awesome and informative as ever! loving the banter 👍😎
Man! Having the Reverend on the show, with all the right questions... and answers !!! would indeed be a blast ! Certified blues...

The doctor is wearing simple os sneakers. Very cool... I'm glad you guys are back!

Great show guys. I did think the VOX sounded fantastic.

Pat, time for a new chair, or at least some oil. Great episode lads, say hi to the DOCTOR.
You guys are the best!
That squeaky chair tho! Love the show guys
What squeaky chair? Just kidding, it's days are done,. We should sell it on EBay but won't, we'll put it in the torture device archives. D&P
See you guys rocking the shit out of these combos is a quasi-religious experience! You made my month!
Now that's what we're talking about! Thanks for the comment. D&P
You guys have had some amps that have blow my mind -- there was that little 18w? Marshall, the vintage one ... smokin'

Holy crap that sounds amazing
Cool jacket mr dg ! Cheers from mexico!
What pickguard do you have on the Heritage? I'm trying to find a good match for my 2001 H150.
I noticed Pat didn't smoke in front of the Doctor!😂😂
They went outside after the show. D&P

When you were playing, Dr. Kimberley was feeling you so much that you may have a lawsuit. #metoo

The Hello Kitty sticker goes on Oscar!
You guys need to check out some vintage Traynor amps.
Doug has a 1970 Traynor YBA-1A which is called the Bass Master Mark II that he used for years onstage and in the studio. LOL! Awesome, I hope you guys do. Thanks for the reply!! :)
Bring the good Reverend 🤘🏻
I first thought they have Don Henley with them :)
What's that riff at 9.00 min?
Guys get a AMPRX BrownBox and the old amps will sound even better!

I just want to hang out wit these guys.
You guys must have met each other in a business sense. One was buying and the other was selling WEED!! Hehehehe , QUIT BOGARTING THE GUITAR and let The other guys play. I LOVE Y’ALL, ROCK ON!!!!!
Like Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon those two.
I have a TUSC amp with a Fane speaker made in england. has anybody heard of this amp? I bought it at a flea market about 30 years ago.
I don’t need no doctor
Is that Lindsay Buckingham?
What? We don't get to hear Dr. Kimberly play his ES???
NVM, i spoke too soon - lol
We were going to go longer at the end but he broke down in tears in appreciation to us. Also Doug didn't want to get showed up again. D&P
😎
They make me feel OK with being a late fiftyish guy who just wants to play guitar..
