hey! Thanks so much for doing this video! it took you months to make it but it's probably the most useful information I found to propagate my monstera!
heyo for me its always worked putting cutting in moos, when they already had some rooots, if they not then the cutting cant get water, so i first put them in water until I see roots growing
Yes, either moss or soil will work. Monsteras are pretty easy to propagate, but always grow the roots in water indeed. Although I've had a few Monsteras just growing from a cutting in soil (outside, unintended), it just took way longer. My Vmon is doing really good now. It's currently getting a second new leaf. I will do a video update soon. Thank you for watching!
I needed this after watching 6 vlogs previous 🤦🏽♀️ on how to save my variagated Monstera.. 🍃🌿🌱.. am just waiting for it to callous overnight 👀. Here's hoping. Beautiful progress with yours 😊🥰 when's the update 🤔
Awh glad to hear it helped!!! It’s just pushing out one more leaf and then I’ll be releasing the update :) hopefully (if the leaf isn’t too slow) within the next two weeks :)
I haven’t got enough footage to release yet as it’s making VERY slow progress, but head over to my Instagram where I post pic updates in my highlights😋
Hi! Thanks for the video. Would you recommend putting just a stick, no root, no leaf in a similar jar on a heat mat? Mine started to create a bump but has really stopped and I was wondering I this water trick might help
Your welcome!!! All the best for your cutting! If there is one thing I could emphasise it would be letting it dry out for at least a whole day before putting it into water, and patience!!
So I currently did that to my monstera albo but I didn’t let her callous for too long. I o my let her dry up for an hour and a half and put her in water. Should I take her out and let her dry out again to avoid that rot on the bottom?
I had a cutting just like you and spaghnum moss didn’t work, it molded it actually and I had to cut it off then put cinnamon on and wait fir it to callus and hope for roots.
This video is so helpful! I have a Thai rooted cutting that I just received today. The seller has said I should leave it in the soil it was sent in for one month. It has very tiny, hair like roots, vs large roots like I'm used to seeing with my other monsteras. Would you say that a heat pad would be beneficial? I'm paranoid to mess things up as this cutting was ya know, pricey. I'd love to hear yours or anyone else's thoughts. TIA :)
I think the heat pad would only be beneficial if its real cold where you are. otherwise the advice they gave you sounds good! They can start out with smaller roots! If in a month or so you are in doubt, pop it in water and it will be good!
@@GrowingGreenNZ Thank you! You have no idea the amount of stress you just relieved for me LOL I live in a very temperate area of California. Fairly warm all throughout the year. Sounds like I can pass on the heat pad. I kinda started freaking out wondering if I needed to pop it into water, plant it into something else, etc. I'm going to leave it be for now and only go the water route, if in a month it seems to need it. Thank you SO much!

I just don’t want her to die 😢 any suggestions other than the ones made in your wonderful video?
First of all, thank you! To be honest when it comes to growing all white leaves, sometimes there isn’t much you can do! It’s a genetic trait in the plant which is VERY hard to change 🥲
@@GrowingGreenNZ thank you. ❤️ I was planing to put it into my little terrarium with moss and perlight at the bottom. Got some cinnamon powder and peroxide too. Help! So I notice at 6:55 mark its rooting (which is awesome) but I also notice the stem cutting area is black, darken both ends like rot so is it rotting as its rooting. I can't tell the difference? Is it normal?
Hey! It’s actually not rot ❤️ it had callused over at this point so it was just discolouration 👍 you can tell the difference by how it feels. If it’s squishy it’s rot, if it’s hard it’s all good!
Recently a few of my leaves are growing out and quickly turning brown within all over the leaves as though it’s rusting? It is not just dried brown on the edges. Does anyone know why my new growth leaves are browning while the older leaves are ok? The stem are healthy and it’s not wilted or droopy and not dehydrated? Please help as I’m at my wits end and it’s certainly not a good sight for sore eyes? Thanks in advance! X

@@haloweenparty10000 the heat Mat helps replicate the warm moist environment needed for the roots to form :)
So you don't bury the entire node, leave it on top of the soil?
