By far the BEST beginner vinyl flooring installation video. THANK YOU!! I appreciate your detail!!
Finallyyyy! A video that I actually understand!! Very detailed explanation 👌🏽
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much!
Right I’m going to try this in my living room
I love how in depth and patient you spoke.
PLUS, YOU'RE THE FIRST CONTRACTOR THAT USED THAT MENTIONED THE KIT
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much! 😊
Just put down 900 sq ft of vinyl plank flooring. This is what worked well for me. Instead of using those aggravating little black spacers that never stay up I used a couple pieces of scrap 1/4 plastic strips cut 1 inch wide and four feet long. Instead of using a tapping block and a hammer I used a 1x4 cut 24 inches long and took the plastic handle off of an old trowel to make a tapping block. To tap the planks together. Much easier and only requires one hand instead of two. Plus you don't have to keep looking for that hammer that never seems to be in arms reach.
I’m glad you mentioned ear protection. A lot of guys think being tough means not protecting their hearing 🤦🏻♂️
As a landscaper in my 20's I saw this a lot.....also not wearing sun protection. By 30 to 35 years old a lot of those guys were not hearing as well and looked terrible....like they were pushing 50 +. I wore a large Chinese-style hat that kids laughed at and always used ear plugs. Guess what, I'm 54 and young women still check me out....and I can hear them....LOL. I'm not gloating, it actually makes me sad they chose that path of "being manly" b/c there's no rectifying what they did to themselves. It was anything but manly....just stupid, honestly.
.
great video! i’m tearing up carpet and putting in vinyl flooring soon. videos like this make it way easier to accomplish.
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much! Means a lot!
I LOVE, LOVE your detail explanation on how to snap in and use of the kit tools. Thanks I know what I was doing wrong.
Thank you for being very specific and walking through it fairly slowly and detailed. Great video!
Thank you 🙏🏽
Love your instructions, very clear and to the point. Gives me confidence in trying this DIY project for the first time
We did 2 rooms so far of LVP in our home. Did it for the first time ever and it was easy! Your videos are very detailed, love the way you explain everything and go into great detail. Keep up the great work 👍
So no glue is needed?
@@bmo3522 click lock lvp don’t need glue
Amazing video I never layed flooring and was nervous but u broke it down so simple Im excited to start my basement project. Definitely will be following u for other projects. I'm doing stairs next project
Good to see this video, In Brazil the professionals says that is not possible to install Vinyl plank flooring on wood, now I can see that is totally possible .
Thank you so much
Finally, found a video that explains perfectly what I need to do. Thank you so much 🤗
I’m glad I could be of help! 🙏🏽😊
I’m a sound engineer and the reverberation in my rooms drove me crazy. Put up any and all soft goods that you can onto the walls, including blinds in the windows, use packing blankets if you can, or very thin rugs, old sheets, whatever you’ve got, shiny is bad, soft and fluffy and dense is good. Break up the corners too. It works dramatically, it zero soft floor covering with zero soft ceiling covering is a bad recipe for noise. So I kept a narrow runner opposite where I was working and that helped a lot. Or even on the new flooring you just did, it will really help, because the relatively smooth surface of the new flooring is much more reflective than most plywood sub-flooring. Whew! I blessed with golden ears and cursed with golden ears. Ugh. Yay.
I have my kitchen to be done ✔️, am definitely going to home depot for my equipment.
Thanks for the great 👍🏾 👌🏽 idea and explanation. And trust me it will be done .👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾thanks ✔️
Thanks for the video brotha, I primered my sub floor because pet damage penetrated past the carpet and padding and left spots on the floor….treated the spots with vining at and pinesol and 2 coats of oil based primer (killz) now I’m ready to try this snap in flooring for the first time!
When using a razor knife. The first score, you want to score lightly. Second time a little harder. I score three times to make it easier to snap..
Nice video! Good tips that I will certainly use when installing my vinyl flooring. Thank you!
Great explanations on the spacers and install kit. Thanks for making it short and easy to follow.

Great video! I'm going to do a square room with a door on one side and a patio door/window on the other. Which direction should I start? Parallel to door or perpendicular?
I would do perpendicular to the patio door , would look more pleasing coming in. Let me know how it turns out! 👍🏽😊🙏🏽

Very good video

Nice job, thank you for sharing. jz
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏽😊
Very good video one question would you put molding molding after installation
Should have an expansion gap around that floor vent too. Now if there is any expansion and there will be the vent cover will stop the floor from moving and cause buckling.
Did you find your cut offs and full length pcs repeating? Your starting row, second piece had about a foot cut off which you started row 2 with. You added a full piece next. Im guessing you still had to cut your next piece as well. Eventually I expect you had cuts repeating. True? And I believe your cut ends are only against the walls? What did you mean by the direction of your house? Thx.
I like this video.
Thank you 🙏🏽
You make it look so easy.... any tips for cutting vinyl around toilet?
Thank you! Anybody can do this with patience 🙏🏽 for around toilet I would highly suggest to use a jigsaw and a template. That’s actually a good idea for my next video because I will be installing this to my bathroom soon 👍🏽
Great video with very good explanation. I see you did not use any underlayment, you don't need underlayment? Furthermore, how does it work if the floor is slightly uneven?
Hi! Thank you for watching! No need for underlayment because the pieces have already built on padding. If your subfloor is uneven would suggest using filler material or replace the badly warped boards.
Some manufacturers will void your warranty if you use it. As he said it's not necessary. Resist the sensation.
Maraming salamat Po!
Walang anoman po 👍🏽🙏🏽😊
Nice video. Liked and subbed.
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much! Please share 🙏🏽👍🏽😊
nice
Thank you 🙏🏽
Very very helpful. Can you add adhesive to the bottom of the floor boards so keep them from sliding? And cam I apply these floor over hardwood flooring?
Instead of using glue, take scrap pieces and screw them to the floor. Its more secure than the spacers, when finished remove them and fill in that row of flooring
Can I lay this over an existing marble tile floor? If so, any tips? Thank you in advance.
So pretty much whatever I have leftover on the first plank use it to start the second row, whatever I have left from second row use it to start the 3rd row and so on?? I remember about 15 ueara ago I installed laminated flooring in small livi g room and I was having lots of pieces left, I forgot what I was doing wrong. Lol. Iam assuming I have to remove old laminated flooring to install new one or do u know if I can install new old on top of new one?
You should be building each row clicking all end joints together first at an angle. Than tilt the entire row up at an angle and install the entire row. Your breaking the locking lips off closing those end gaps, which will definitely leave a gap over time. It is actually faster to install as well.
No. Different floors have different types of connections. Luxury vinyl planks are a newer kind go see what they look like at the store
@@vadimnesen8060 I’m a flooring installer, going on 25 years now. I install lvp several days a week. I am well aware of the different locking systems. However like I said on this locking system there is a lip at the end joint to lock them in place. When he smashes those together he’s breaking the lips. It will take time but they will come apart at the end joints as the floor moves over time.
Overall he has a good video, but he conveniently leaves out the actual way to join the pieces (The most critical part). The planks are joined by angling in the side AND angling the end piece, it's sort of impossible. (The video conveniently jumps from ready to install to the piece already fitted at 6:58, 7:46, and 9:09). This is the hardest thing to do for beginners, yet those important bits are missing. I totally agree with your point on doing a whole row together. That would work fine. The only issue with that is you might need 2 or 3 installers when the room is long (Like mine - Hallway is 9.5meters - 31 feet).
How about around a fire place with vinyl flooring? Thanks
What happen to putting moisture barrier down first? Thanx for sharing too
So when it comes to luxury vinyl floor planks, they usually come with the moisture barrier already on them. It’s that black padding you see in the video.
Glue down vinyl usually require the underlayment
Great job how much work is that really?? Draining job or easy.
Thank you 🙏🏽 so much! I think the hardest part is prep, getting rid of the old carpet or flooring. Afterwards it’s just like a puzzle! Anyone can do it 👍🏽😊
Extremely informative and thorough video. Question: does the floor under must be 100% leveled or can this type of flooring will work on a semi level floor?
Thank you so much! My floors weren’t 100 percent level. If you have a major dip or a huge dimple on the floor I would suggest to use wood filler to level it out first 👍🏽
@@FixThisHouse how does it stick on the floor tho?
@@eljos1 use self leveling floor patch that you can get anywhere like home depot or lowes.
I have the same type of flooring you are using but I am doing it on a wood floor should I use a glue or adhesive
Very nice! No need, just snap and tap 👍🏽😊
Hello la famille, c’est juste pour vous annoncez que nous sommes de retour sur notre chaîne, alors on se revoit dans les prochaines vidéos ❤❤ Que vous bénisse!
Great video! Do you have a video on how to do the transition at the doors? Also, I will be laying on a slab, should I put a barrier down?
Thanks.
Thank you 🙏🏽 I will be doing one soon, thank you for the video tip! I’d your putting over a slab you can put a barrier if you wish.
Great, I like the color What that is the color called for this vinyl?
what do you do with the spacers afterwards? do you just remove them/
Yes. Remove the spacers.
🔥
wouldnt you want the small cut pieces, that you used on the next row to be on alternate ends of each row? So that one side of the row doesnt always start with a small cut end.
how many boxes of material to do that small room?
Is it safe to precut everything before and then install?
