I was diagnosed with a Severe Fatty liver in 2017. I was 321lbs at 5’11” at 57 years of age. I immediately went healthy Keto. I lost 150lbs in 2 years. I reversed Liver Fibrosis. I was also diagnosed with Hemochromatis at around the same time of being diagnosed with a severe fatty liver. My Ferritin was 4580. Hemochromatosis was depositing iron into my liver, adding to the misery. My waist was 60” around. I’ve maintained my weight for 2 years now - a total of over 4 years now that I’ve been KETO. It’s a blessing that I lost the weight. Last December my blood pressure dropped to 90/40. I was then diagnosed with severe aortic insufficiency. Totally unrelated to my prior health issues. I had a hole of 4-5mm in my aortic heart valve. I had open heart surgery back in April. The only exercise I’ve done is walking. I’m back to pre-valve replacement surgery shape. My waist is now 35” I’m 62 years old now, and my lipids are: Total Cholesterol = 169, Triglycerides = 42,
HDL = 64, VLDL = 9, LDL = 96 (My coronary arteries are all clean as witnessed by a heart catheterization)
So, if you follow a Mediterranean version of Keto, I’m sure you can achieve the same success.

Something similar worked for me. Had elevated liver markers. Over 18 months I lost 10% of my body fat on a low carb moderate protein moderate fat diet, & my liver markers returned to normal. My diet includes 300 mls of full cream milk at breakfast most days, & often a handful of macadamias, & bacon & eggs several times weekly. I'm more cautious than many re fat, as I've had my gall bladder removed. Having bone broth or lean meat a half hour to hour before '2nd half of breakfast' helps my body not be so reactive to the later fat content. My doctor was suprised but happy with the result.

Thank you, Thomas. Since Feb 2021 I have lost 50+lbs 270lbs to 217lbs. I am sure that was pre-diabetic for many years. I was slowly killing myself. I gained 15lb-17lbs last Winter but lost it back. I will not do that again. Winter is hard, trying to eat right and stay moving during the Winter months is very difficult. Fasting and Time Restricted Eating played a major part with my success. Thomas also talked about overnutrition. If we eat too much, we're overworking our body / overworking all the systems. I believe that we need to keep the blood clean. Too much calcium, too much cholesterol and too much protein in the blood = High Blood Sugar, High Insulin / Insulin Resistance, Fatty Liver, High Cholesterol and Plaque = Diseases.

L.E: Also for people struggling on different diets, keto is not end all be all, as it's seen by a lot of people having diverse macronutrients. Id love to have your input on the eggs. I do teo eggs a day. Dr. Erick Berg suggest 4 eggs a day.
I was offered on line, a free hair analyse for heavy metal and minerals, by a naturopathic dr. S. Cabral. Have you heard of him?
Got his book as well for free, I understand nothing is for free, but is a start
Glynac? I assume is a product, does it need a prescription?
      What is L. E ?
Any further suggestion from your studies I'd appreciate. I am sure I have heavy metals in my system, since I had for years 5 mercury teeth and removed way back in 2007 and had done nothing to clean the metals ever since. Too busy, now I am retired, 75 years old female. My endocrines gland are all suffering now. Thank you for any help you can offer.

      @@naildaxmulder hi!
      - L.E means later edit
      - Female choline requirements are 425mg/day, and one egg has about 150mg, so 3 eggs per day should suffice if you don't have too much weight to lose. Some chicken liver/beef liver from time to time is good too, has choline. Try and find the best/healthies eggs you can afford.
      - I haven't heard about that doctor but you should definitely do a hair tissue mineral analysis especially if you had mercury fillings, and especially if it's free. The amount of poisons in day to day life ia astounding. But be careful with people giving u free stuff, usually nothing is free in life.
      - Glynac is glycine+NAC ( which is n-acetyl-cysteine ) this is a very good video about it where 70+ year olds take glynac for 24 weeks and have improvements across the board.
      ua-cam.com/video/XaxY7LpuSFo/v-deo.html
      - As for the teeth..i would search for a functional dentist near you and talk to him/her about it. If you had mercury fillings they should be removed with a lot of caution as far as i know otherwise it can poison you. The dentist should be able to help you. Mercury toxicity is no joke

Unfortunately our current lab tests don't differentiate between small dense ldl from the larger molecule. The small dense LDL is what will cause issues with the arteries and accumulate in them when they are damaged by oxidative stress.
Keto diet will decrease small dense LDL and decrease oxidative stress in general. So it's a win win. MD here.

While not perfect, your triglyceride levels can give you a good idea of which type of lipoproteins you have. If you are losing a lot of fat, your triglycerides could be temporarily high. Once you hit your goal weight, they should go to their normal levels.
For years I starved myself fat on 1200 low fat, high fibre calories a day for decades my cholesterol was on the low side, but my triglycerides were too high. So bad, sticky lipoproteins. I had an active job and went to the gym daily. Barely fit a size 18.
When I went low carb over a decade ago, my LDL went up to average, my HDL went to a nice high level and my triglycerides went down to surprising low for someone my age. Doctors words. They have stayed that way.
I am a big believer in cheese, K2-4 and animal fats. The real Mediterranean diet is full of feta, mozzarella, meat, etc.

((WARNING)) This diet has a high calcium intake without mentioning taking K2 MK7, without the K2, calcium will build up in your arteries and (NOT) make it to your bones. If you have fatty liver, I would avoid the red wine as well, not to mention the honey in this diet, honey is worse, and more harmful than sugar, for the liver. It looks like the only difference between this diet and a regular keto diet is the dairy and red meat and honey/wine. However, the keto diet does have cheese, so the real difference is red meat, the keto diet does have a more fish and poultry plan over red meat anyway. My advice is just stick with regular keto, avoid too much red meat, coffee, tea, ((NO)) honey or wine, and most importantly, take K2 MK7 to avoid calcification of the arteries.

Methods: A prospective study was carried out in 31 obese subjects (22 male and 19 female) with the inclusion criteria whose body mass index and age was 36.46 +/- 2.22 and 38.48 +/- 2.27, respectively. This Ketogenic diet was called "Spanish Ketogenic Mediterranean Diet" (SKMD) due to the incorporation of virgin olive oil as the principal source of fat (> or =30 ml/day), moderate red wine intake (200-400 ml/day), green vegetables and salads as the main source of carbohydrates and fish as the main source of proteins. It's a 3 step thing, but the 3rd comes naturally : 1- reduce glycemic index of food for 3 weeks, 2- introduce time restricted eating (or go down to 2 close meals/day randomly) 3- another 3 weeks later you will see that sports started automatically, and sport (walking) instead of being a thing of horror becomes BLISS. This fixes everything : sleep, depression, belly, tg, mood, enthusiasm, love for life.

I also increased my physical activity in fasted state by 3X during this period.
I was Not eating any refined carbs, refined sugars, seed oils, starchy vegetables, grains (wheat & rice) during this period. At ultrasound where they told me my liver is now normal (nonore grade 2 fatty), a blood test also indicated high levels of ketones and very low insulin levels in the blood. Out of concern when I asked if I should be concerned about low insulin levels , the Dr said it's actually good bcoz the HbA1C was absolutely normal, and so was LDL, hsCRP, etc.

This reflects my experience and my change in the foods I eat. I followed at keto diet for a year and now have settled into a Mediterranean diet with slightly higher dairy…with grass fed dairy, pasture raised eggs, less beef but only grass fed, and more fatty fish to replace the beef. I dropped 95 pounds…triglycerides dropped from 111 to 43, ALT dropped from 88 to 23 and HbA1C dropped from 6.3 to 5.1. It did not seem like work because-as you said-my satiety was working in my favor. Thanks for the advice, Thomas!

    • @nrg-5003
      @nrg-5003 6 місяців тому +1

Scanning would be the best way to know for sure, blood test wise look out for high cholesterol elevated alt ast and ggt as well as an elevated tsh. As for symptoms for me personally it was low energy and struggling to lose weight this is because the liver converts the majority of thyroid hormone t4(inactive) into t3(active) so when the liver is inflamed due to being fatty it cannot make this conversion as effectively so you end up with inadequate t3 in the body which causes hypothyroid symptoms and elevated tsh (even though the thyroid itself is healthy and making enough t4) the problem is t4 is inactive and must be converted into t3 in order to be used by the body and the main area this conversion takes place is in the liver so an unhealthy liver will almost certainly affect this conversion to some extent.
