      Love your vids but the whole "antinutrient" thing is a crock. You should do a deep dive on it. "Phytate" is a great example, you know another name that "phytate" goes by? Inositol! Literally one of the most important compounds in human physiology. Yes they will bind to some minerals but nature balances these things out (and most "phytate" is already bound to minerals in the plant, usually phosphorus, so its a non sequitur). A good example of this is raw eggs, people say raw eggs are bad because the avidin binds to biotin. This is true but eggs are high enough in biotin that even if all of the biotin binds to avidin, there is still more then enough unbound biotin to be nutritive.

    Collagen also has the interesting side effect of also helping your joints work better... and that's something we should probably look into getting more of as we age.

    • @humanresetproject
      @humanresetproject Рік тому +2

      That's not a side effect, our joints (skin, bones, muscles etc etc) are composed of collagen and it's actually where collagen supplements are mostly used. Collagen is like cement, we would not have a body without it!

    • @11kwright
      @11kwright Рік тому +1

      It is a side effect of collagen supplementation if your own body doesn’t produce it. You supplements instead to get the added benefit and as a result if lucky your body will synthesise it. It is a good effect of supplementation! Depends on how you look at it, no right or wrong here.

    • @humanresetproject

    Thomas, I love your videos. This topic is very important, as just today my doc told me that eating a high fiber diet is critical to reducing the risk of colon cancer. He said colon cancer is 100% preventable through diet and regular screening to catch and remove polyps. Again, he said it's 100% preventable. I'm aiming for 30 grams per day, but some cultures eat 100 grams per day. After my doc appt today, I'm going to increase my fiber intake further, and I'll try some of your suggestions. Hello Thomas! I'm a rebel vegetarian from Brazil XD
    but the health service your channel provide is awesome! 👊
    and you seem a cool fella too
    I would like to share 2 things I read about recently, because you mentioned cellulose and inulin, so it may be related and you could like to look further into it.

    • @fgama
      @fgama Рік тому +2

      So, I don't know how they are related, but recently it was found that carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), also know as cellulose gum, a synthetic food additive that acts as a thickening agent in many products in the market is detrimental to the gut microbiome.
      " It had long been assumed that CMC was safe to ingest because it is eliminated in the feces without being absorbed. However, increasing appreciation of the health benefits provided by bacteria that normally live in the colon, and thus would interact with non-absorbed additives, has led scientists to challenge this assumption.
      Experiments in mice found that CMC, and some other emulsifiers, altered gut bacteria resulting in more severe disease in a range of chronic inflammatory conditions, including colitis, metabolic syndrome, and colon cancer.
      "
      "Nutritional biologist Marit Kolby at Oslo New University College and nutritionist Inge Lindseth at Balderklinikken wrote that it was a paradox that animal studies are enough to get a substance approved, but not to intervene when harmful effects are documented."

    • @fgama
      @fgama Рік тому

      And about the inulin, garlic is a great source indeed, even more because of its other health benefits, like antifungal/candida, but the greatest source of it would be chicory root, which brings us to sprouts! As sprouts take little time to grow and offer many benefits, I believe they would be one of the best sources of prebiotics to our diet! Considering it's avoided pesticides and it has a good fungal control. And one thing that is being overlook is their fortification with all the natural macro and trace minerals, which can make them even healthier!
      Cheers!
      keep up the good work and success 👊

    If fiber works for you, great, more power to you. But years of fiber, fiber supplements, probiotics, all that stuff never did anything for me except make me bloated and irregular. I did lose a lot of weight, I will admit that, but with all the fiber stuff all the weight loss was in the wallet. I stopped all of it months ago when I went carnivore and have never felt better. Again, if eating cardboard helps you, and you believe in it, knock yourself out. I don't miss it.

    The populace is not approaching 40% obesity due to a LACK of these types of fiber or probiotics in their diet being the primary drivers of the obesity epidemic. And unless one addresses the primary drivers, adding fiber and probiotics will not resolve the problem. These are very minor considerations of very small significance.
