I finally bought a car I've been dreaming about since childhood, but not all is as it seems. £350 plus transportation costs later and I have a new lawn ornament with big bills expected. What should I do with this weird piece of turd?

I saw this on facebook, most of the sills already cut out and obviously the last owner saw how far the rust went and gave up on it
I had a 1995 Twingo and it was lovely, these early ones are so basic and reliable
Jup, he got scammed, I never go for second hand Renaults or Peugeots for that matter.. they dont have the best reputation.. general electric problems, rust, i even knew a guy who had a Megane Convertible on which the outside of the A-pillar fell off.. the glue didnt work anymore😂 it was something else..

When I was a kid I went to France on a student exchange. Every Twingo I saw I shouted "Twingo"!!!! The family I was staying with got a friend with one to take me out for a drive and he gave me a little Twingo model to take home. I still have it 😁

Just like you, I have loved seeing these around France along with Renault 4s and Renault 5s and taken many snaps of them over the years, I think they're such characterful little cars - good luck with the resto!

No wayyy, I recently got interested in these too and for some reason want to buy one even though I never had a thing for them. Nostalgia. My mom used to have one of the first in the country. A purple one. In 2001 she got another one (with 75hp instead of 55hp).
I remember buying French magazines whilst on holiday back in the day and always liked the look of the modified twingos. 👍

Maybe if you found a later model one somewhere in europe with less rust (maybe somewhere like portugal?) Drive it back and put all the nice pre facelift parts on it.

Get a tube frame chassis with pokey engine, and acid dip the shell, fix the rust on the shell, and marry the two together. And put those Cibie fog lights on it.

How enduring is the Twingo I remember going to Majorca in 96 and 98 as a child and the one car I remember over there was the Twingo and finding out that Vauxhalls were Opel over there 😂

Funnily enough, one French holiday to S France, I recorded how many Twingos I’d see. It was a lot!
Now I live in SW France I see them daily.
Even worse, drove over to the uk in my French van 2018-ish, was heading to Milton Keynes area and came across a French registered twingo, the chances!

Buy a H frame a 10mm thick door bar a 5 point harness and a 9litre fuel tank strip the shit bolt all those extras onto it and take it out banger racing for the day...

Just had a look and I've found trees rust free twingos, facelifts unfortunately but they are all under £1000, take what you can off the red one then scrap it, there are loads on the forum too! Look forward to this project
Yeah I would use it for mechanical parts and find a rust free one. Repairing rust like that on a unibody car is quite extensive and expensive. It's un necessary on a car that isn't rare.

Obviously never sold here and I highly doubt many people would want to import them😂 according to the how many left website there are just 4 of this generation currently registered for UK roads 2 are sorn . Now obviously one is Adams and id assume it's one of the sorn there's only 3 others in the entire country. I'd say that's quite rare wouldn't you?
There are lots in Europe, but barely any in the UK.
Once you factor in travel and import costs, a sub-£1k Twingo can easily be double.

If you wanted a cheap rusty french shitbox I got an old Citroen c3 outside my house you could have had for what you paid for this. It's way less rusty way less sketchy mileage, has an interesting blue interior, lacquer peel and..... An automatic gearbox. What fun.

The mk1 Twingo is a great car, but they are extremely rust prone. Sills, around the filler neck, floorpan, chassis legs and the inner front wings. This one looks bad. Its also not a 1993 car, more like a 1995/6. I can tell that by the paint colour and interior trim. 1993/4 cars had light green switchgear, blue and red seats and only 4 external colours. The blue switchgear was 1995/6 range feature. I own an early 1994 car with the folding roof.
my cobra is a rep it runs on fit 130 coupe 3.2 engine it looks real .

If car sos can rebuild rust boxes im very sure Adam can ! Just strip it to a shell and get it shot blasted and do a full restoration? Would make a great video along side the rest of your videos

Just do the rust in stages you'd be surprised how much rust a car can pass an mot with. Start with mot prescribed areas and go from there.
