Same lol, for a sec it seemed that the engine ran away but lol i wonder why he was revlimiting it lol, maybe he thought it will clear water out or something😅
The reason why the minivan has a side exhaust is because it was modified for wheelchair access. The wheelchair ramp takes up the space where the exhaust pipe would normally go, so they have to reroute it. And recently they dredged the stream to increase the flow, so fortunately for motorists, but unfortunately for spectators, the level of water in the ford is quite a bit lower now.
I live in Nottingham, so kinda local. It's hilarious actually, how a place I used to stand at for hours as a child has now become a popular place for the social media generation.

I'd love to be the guy to explain to one of them just how catastrophic the damage actually is and that their car is actually now a write off lmao Engines very often tend to be a third to a half of the total value of the vehicle, but let's assume you manage to get a used engine cheap, the cost to install is not going to be cheap, I don't know how evil the mechanics in the UK are, but in my country, that's about a quarter of the value of the vehicle again in labor and small parts. Your entire electrical system is also fried and the entire thing has to be replaced, also not cheap, especially to install, probably about a quarter the value of the car again. At the end of almost buying a whole new car, you now have an engine swapped shitbox with rust INSIDE your unibody frame that will fail most roadworthiness inspections in about a year or two when the rust fully sets in. Flood cars are always the cheapest cars on the market, and should always be avoided like the plague. To think that not only did a guy flood his car on purpose, this is a literal attraction that is infamous for having killed hundreds of cars in just the last year, and these brainlets still go ahead and kill their own cars too, having just watched the person in front of them destroy their car. The Land cruiser did it the proper way by creating a wave of water in front of him and then dabbing the brakes so he could follow the wave which would make the water shallower.
Car had a side exit because of the disability wheelchair lift on the back. Interferes with OE exhaust path so you have to find another way to route the pipe and support it.
The Escort Mk VI knew the score, he didn't try starting it again after it cut out, which is the point where people really screw up the engine. He pushed to the kerb, took out the spark plugs, then turned it over so it blow the water out, then soaked up what was left as best the could with a finger in a rag down the spark plug hole. Then he started it, and dried it out with the engine heat. Once he got it home i suspect he drained the oil off and topped it up with new.
