Thanks I didn't know about some the side manga being possibly canon. The people trapped inside the building was probably an end result to Resistance being a first time testing experiment. If I got this right, Claire got the antivirus for Sherry before Leon got the g-virus sample because in the remake on both runs the self detention system goes off with Claire after Sherry is cured. So if I have the timing right, Leon got to the elevator after Claire and sherry( with Annette, slightly injured but fighting it off or faked her death to motivate Sherry to leave with Claire, stayed behind after hearing the alarm system going off) went down to the train while Ada overrode the elevator right before Leon gets to it. Still slightly injured, Annette catches up and shoots Ada before finally dying. I've played both runs and for some reason, I believe Leon's story truly starts at the locked gate. But I could be wrong. So if anyone wants to debate or chat on it a bit more, I'm all ears or comments.
That must be a lot of reasearch. But wasn't revelation set between 4 & 5?

Star Wars taught me the same thing, but you could survive the fall while being cut in half as well.

what i learned:
• every building ever made has a self destruct sequence
• you can *punch a boulder*
• no one actually dies
• either chris was really young when this started or he’s way too old to be doing this anymore
• i can’t keep up with at least half of these names and characters

And a plot twist that involves a villain transformation in no. 132

I love how in almost every case, these underground or in the ocean, laboratories that are designed to be absolutely unreachable somehow manage to not get breached but fucking destroyed. Umbrella's tolerance for employee error is astounding.
Perhaps they predicted those employees were gonna any ways. Or mabey the bases were built pretty week on purpose so they can better dispose of evidence and that's y they have a self destruct thing installed or just outright explode. Besides there'd be no point in making the base 100 unbreachable if it's gotta explode in order to get rid of the monsters created within it or virus ect.

I was about 10 years old when RE1 came out on old school PS1. The original RE1, RE2, RE3, and Code Veronica really shaped my future interests. Now, I'm 2 years away from completing my PhD in Immunology and Virology. I love that I work on a pathogenic virus just like I dreamed of as a young RE fan. Looking at the story/franchise now though it makes zero biological sense lol I've loosely kept up with the games like the remakes... most of the others are trash if you ask me. So this was a great way to fill in my missing story line. Thanks!

It’s crazy how some of these characters didn’t encounter each other so many games happening at the same time in the same city
They fix things a bit in the remakes. For example, none of the rooms in the Police Station are uniquely boarded up in RE3R days BEFORE Leon /Claire arrive. Actually, you blow up the bathroom wall on the 2nd floor in RE3R, and you don't just walk over an unconscious Marvin (you actually run into him and Kendo too). I don't think they show Nemesis killing Brad, but you do fight his zombie near the station like RE2classic after you meet him earlier. Similarly, you actually encounter Lickers in RE3R, which now makes sense rather than being super lucky in RE3classic and not seeing ANY, however Leon/Clare don't encounter any Hunters or Drain Demos or Nemesis infected zombies (actually I think they retconned Nemesis killing Brad since he's a regular zombie), just as Jill doesn't encounter G mutants or plant zombies, and despite Nemesis fighting Birkin in the comics, Carlos visits the station while Jill escapes on the train fighting Nemesis (so I don't think Nemesis visits any RE2 areas this time).
Still, I can't really forgive how they butchered the story in RE2R. It's basically non-canon unless you ignore one of the character's stories entirely (I've finally accepted you can make sense of things by picking only one of either Leon A, Leon B, Claire A, Claire B rather than the original canon Claire A/Leon B or alternative Leon A/Claire B, which was only 1000 times better. Oops.) They also cut a bunch of locations (RE2 Factory, RE3 Park/Clock Tower (only in the background of the boss fight)/Dead Factory (now like any other Umbrella facility), enemies (crows, spiders), and extras (Extreme Battle, Mad Jackal aka Mercenaries), not to mention things like the choice system in RE3, the zapping system in RE2, Iron's/Ben's alternate deaths, and certain bosses like Grave Digger. And they also missed the opportunity of showing Crimson heads transform into lickers, or having a few more unique enemies like rats or the enemies from Outbreak, like leechman or zombie zoo animals. Also music is mostly disappointing in 2R namely, while costumes are mostly disappointing in 3R. And all the new main characters look weird.

It’s funny how instead of letting the two go without alerting them of their infection therefore putting his own plan in play, saddler tells Leon and Ashley which pushes them to stay and eventually uncover the whole operation as well as cure themselves which is the complete opposite of what he wanted
I think that happens quite a bit throughout the series - where if someone hadn't been so intent on divulging their plan, and kept their mouth shut, they would've actually got away with it.
Can we take a moment to appreciate Leon being such a badass being willing to take on not one but two tyrants in hand to hand?
I honestly believe he could have pulled it off somehow but man, it woulda been crazy.

Things I've learned so far:
A helicopter pilot appears to be the most dangerous job in the resident evil universe.
Claire has suffered more concussions than a Boxer.
One cannot exist as player, or character, in the resident evil universe, without having trust issues.
How is this better than the movies ? This is equally blown out of proportion as the movies.
I love how the clips go from extremely well animated, close to real-life looking models in heavily detailed environments to block people doing some hand gestures in blurry pngs.
This was very confusing!! Like was it not the same game? We’re they jumping around games???

@@lilloca3981 yes, and some scenes (like most scenes for 2 and 3) were from remakes of the older games.
@@lilloca3981 there's over a dozen games spanning 25 years some of which have modern remakes, so yeah they were jumping around a bit.
Some of these parts are animes and I saw one part that was a play.
*Resident Evil XVIII:* "While sitting on his wheelchair, Chris blows up a small candle as he celebrates his 110th birthday in a bunker, when suddenly a group of mutated zombies crashed through the roof. While Chris trying to escape to the surface, he meet Leon who just arrived - bald and full bearded - on a motorbike, telling Chris that Wesker is back again with yet another new scheme and the latest variant YZ12-Virus. Leon joins Chris in the battle against the onslaught. During their fight against the armored XC3-Tyrant, Jill & Claire arrives with a helicopter carrying a big container full of rocket launchers to help the guys kill the monster..."

I honestly thought I grasped the history of RE. This was insightful and kudos to the creators of this video!
Break down of this franchise:
- Secret Labs, secret labs EVERYWHERE.
- A new virus basically every 5 minutes.
- People fight over one last vial.
- Ada Wong cockblocking Leon every. Damn. Time.
-Chris and Claire Redfield consistently either chasing each other or someone else.
- Oh, you think you finally killed that monster? Think again!
- There will always be a new tyrant/monster to hunt and it will most likely be a weapon for war.
- People be changing into monsters a lot.
- *SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE* 🚨🚨
- Original characters never really die no matter what they go through ( plot armour is REAL thick)
- UMBRELLA WORKERS SUCK.

- characters pulling off impossible feats.

- Thinking you are safe and then getting surprised.

- Main characters getting infected, scrambling to find cure, finding cure, fighting evil character, being cured. Repeat.
All jokes aside, i really love this series and they did a great job on this timeline! Sorry if I missed any big stuff.

The character models for Leon and Chris in Vendetta are perfection.
Chris, Claire, Leon and Jill are just normal people right? Damn they be surviving mutants and punching boulders left and right lol

Most of them are special agents of some kind, so it makes sense why they're half-decent in combat, _BUT NOT WHY THEY CAN P U N C H B O U L D E R S ._
and also they be wearing crop tops and shorts like they won't ever get bitten imo

They just built different look at Jill got infected by Nemesis and still alive after 2 days when Leon and Claire arrive in RE2 yeah devil's luck or in this case they just that durable and canonically never got bit once

They may be cliche, but they are cliches used correctly and if not than in a enjoyably way
don't forget green and red herbs make full health regen.
I thought I'd played a lot of the games; but there are so many I've missed, not to mention the manga, and stage show (which I didn't even know existed)! This was incredibly insightful, filled in a lot of holes, answered a few lingering questions, and blew me away with some of the stories I missed out on (and will probably never play, because of console exclusivity).
Thank you so much for all the work you guys put in to this, and job very well done. Liked and Subscribed for this. I hope there will be an update, or continuation/part 2 with the newer games (and maybe films/tv series' added in; or how they compare to the canon story arc)!
I'm halfway finished but i really wanted to thank you both for making this video.
I'm someone who never played RE and had no experience with it before (besides DBD characters tho). I got interested in the backstory after my friend played RE8 really enjoyed watching her!

I watched this whole thing while doing my nails and oh my gosh I was sucked in! You guys did a fantastic job!! I was on track the entire time and it all made sense which with a video so long it’s hard to keep it on track!! Amazing !!!

@@user-uq3um5nq7d zombie outbreak itself stems mostly from George Romero and the concept is different from the real thing. in some parallel existence they are only fast zombies, and intelligent. in others they are not fast, but still intelligent, ghouls for example. the idea of stupid zombies is kind of silly, or at least inaccurate

I love the fact they included the stage play but I love even more that in the stage play when a character had to push something heavy they did it the same way it is done in the games, where they fold their arms and push with their shoulder to slide the object in short stages.
This was soooo well done and had games I knew jack squat about that I actually sat and watched all of it instead of sleeping. This is truly a great job.
Claire is literally the only character who has to keep having old men point guns at her and having to babysit someone else’s kid
@Miguel Zagal But Leon babysit a child only on RE4 while Claire was babysitting Sherry on RE2, childish Steve on Codeveronica, the Indian kid on RE Degeneration movie, and Natalia on RE Revelation 2 -_-

@Miguel Zagal that's why I like Chris and Jill better, there more badass. they don't let some woman like Ada distract them from there duties like Leon. also the best resident evil games featured either Chris or Jill or some times even both. example Resident Evil 1 and 3 are better than RE2 and Code Veronica. RE5 is better than RE4, and RE6 is still the best to me.
