All of these events even before the games started just for Isaac Clark to become the chosen one in the entire series is just amazing by how you make this in order. Thank you.
Nicole recognized that the brain waves are symbols and links it to the marker, decoded an alien language, figured out a cure, and was almost able to stop 1000s or years of the marker's destruction, but who would've thought that a single med kit would decide the fate of the galaxy. No wonder why Nicole had to die before the games started, she would've cured the infection within 5mins of the outbreak.
Also if Carver hadn't been so stupid in 3 by allowing the machine to be turned off, the Brethren moons wouldn't have been signalled to come and wipe out humanity.
@@HeloisGevit Firstly; the machine being turned off is a bad thing. He handed the codex to Danik who turned it off- but the more important part is that it's not even entirely his fault. Danik died almost instantly when the machine shut down, and there was like a solid minute and 30 seconds where they could have taken 5 steps to the right and hit the switch in the other direction- which they would do anyway after a whole chase scene and a boss battle- but they could've skipped all that. They could've completely avoided giving the moon enough time to contact its brethren, but they decided to be sentimental and dramatic for the "benefit" of the player instead. When I noticed it going through the game to get screenshot of the artwork, I was SCREAMING the whole time, it was RIGHT THERE.

It’s insane how early in the timeline the black marker was causing all these visions, murders, and suicides way before the actual story events took off, even creating early necromorphs. Human intervention due to the events happening is the only reason why this went as far as it did, and in a scary sense, it was all inevitable, because that’s what the marker was designed and created to do.
It truly is awesome and terrifying. Especially when you consider that the Black Marker is personally responsible for mankind's evolution, by influencing their genetic code so a dominant intelligent spacefaring species would emerge that was capable of recreating the red markers and bringing upon a convergence, to birth yet again, another brethren moon. And that such a cycle has been going on for an unknowable and unbelievable amount of time across the universe. It's like crops, and a black marker is the seed. The way you said you were gonna cover solo because you have no friends had me laughing, I enjoy how informative and in depth you go, thank you for your work
The Church of Unitology is one of my most hated antsgonist organizations in fiction. Not only are you working to destroy humanity, you're so stupid that you believe you're saving it. You do that despite mountains of evidence that the Marker is a bad thing. To top it all off you're unimaginably incompetent that at every turn you're almost derailed by a single person each time. And somehow, despite everything you end up "winning". I truly hope somehow the truth was revealed to them in their last moments and every Unitologist was filled with complete horror at their own actions.
I like to thank of Unitology as the dark side of religion but without god in the mix. These guys from Church of Unitology are crazed zealots following blindly to a corrupted religion of the Marker that is the creator of humanity but clearly isn't. In the game series you can't find one decent person that isn't part of the Church of Unitology and tries to kill Issac for the Marker. Truly Church of Unitology is a lesson of conversion gone terribly wrong also messed up.
My teachers hated that those were the two books i read in school. One specifically asked me what is was about... She never questioned me again when i was reading. Loved the series. Edit: I've always loved how Michael altman is an unintended martyr. It was so much fun to read and see how things played out. Catalyst was such a quick read that i couldn't stop. I highly reccomend the read for anyone interested
The way they killed makes no sense. Martyrs usually die in a public way. Not being forced to fight a montser with a spoon by the very founders of the religion
You know what is funny? Mass Effect has some similar missions were you deal with this kind of horrors. Sure, Mass Effect is an action RPG, and the protagonist is a fucking war hero killing machine... But some of his missions has a similar tone has Dead Space in the first game the very first mission is basically a colony overrun by a sentient robotic species know as the Geth, but they also apply a technology that turns humans into cybernetic abominations called husks. Funny thing is that you can make several horror games just based on this missions that commander Shepard runs through, this colony making a brutal contact with the geth, then be overun by cybernetic zombies, all lead by a rogue Spectre who is indoctrinated by the reaper Sovereign, if you just shift the perspective from Shepard to some random denizen of this colony, is pretty much a horror story.
It really took a “fate of all life in the universe” twist in the final game and I can see why the series died off. The premise, the mystery, the horror are all amazing. Throwing in the cult unitologist stuff very cool. Even having a giant moon mass being the “convergence” is a cool concept. But damn it might as well just be a sequel to Halo at this point and have ancient aliens making a fail safe to wipe all necrotic tissue or something. The scales just light speeded in the span of a single game that multiple fleshy moons the size of earth is attacking earth. There’s no coming back from that. I think that’s sort of a hole a lot of existential horror stories fall into. It’s like how a really good story of a zombie outbreak in city or town, will lose the magic when the sequels end up leaning towards a world wide zombie pandemic.
Thats why when some director figures out the zombie magic is more at the start of the chaos and individuals storys of people, black summer on netflix did it well atleast in the first few episodes before everyone meets up, instead of trying to force a soap opera through the entire aftermath its the early zombie apocalypse thats the most interesting part
This trilogy was amazing. I wish there were more games in the franchise. I feel like it was my first real introduction into horror because before this I used to hate horror. This franchise opened the gates wide open.
Glad you made this cuz this was *_*EXACTLY*_* what i was looking for with all the different pieces of media put on a timeline and how theyre interacting with one another and everything
The work done on matching all of the games and films and putting it together in this format is amazing. Thank you. Def made this so much fun to watch as some of the material I myself never played or watched.
I feel bad for humanity at the end of Dead Space 3. I can only hope we eventually get a Dead Space 4 game, where at least we might be able to see if there are any survivors, or at least a rebel faction hidden underground.
FOR REAL BUT NOOOO WE GET A OLD REMASTERED DEAD SPACE GAME BY EA INSTEAD OF A 4TH BRAND NEW GAME THAT THE CREATOR OF DEAD SPACE HOPES GETS PICKED UP AGAIN BY EA! BUT NO THEY JUST CARE ABOUT A QUICK CASH GRAB BY ANY LOYAL DEAD SPACE FANS TO BUY IT AND FORGET ABOUT THR SERIES ENTIRELY FOR GOOD FFS MAN
You would think in 2023 there would be Dead Space 4 game or show or something to continue the story not just a remastered game a lot of people have played just with better graphics?
it's kind of crazy how well all the prequel materials for ds1 fit together, the only real conflict being the somewhat confusing timeline between Nicole's distress signal and the kellion already being on the way as the Extraction characters were leaving
The amount of times I come back to this video almost weekly for sleep aid is probably not very healthy. I can’t be made whole if I keep falling asleep before finishing the video.
Awesome video, collecting all the information for this comprehensive breakdown must have been super tough. Also I love how the call to like and subscribe at 1:12:10 , nice one!
This is such a massive undertaking, and to fill in the timeline with canon but non-game material. This is a fascinating story from start to finish. Has it ever been officially discovered the true 'origins' of the Marker first found on Earth? Or any of them for that matter? It's not necessary, might be cooler if it dips into some Lovecraftian-esque "It comes from time/beings beyond human comprehension." Something so ancient there's no choice but for it to remain a mystery.
To this day, no one knows where the marker comes from, a corporation just discovered one in the ocean one day! It is implied that it has existed for a VERY long time too. It is the epitome of fear of the unknown which is the greatest motif in horror. The brethren moon (the marker’s end goal of creation) is a straight up Lovecraftian creature as well! Seeing one for the first time in game is pretty crazy, highly recommend checking out what they look like! Also, the creator of the game was heavily inspired and loved the space horror movie, Event Horizon, which I highly recommend because it’s one of my favorite horror movies as well!
@@youngrootv Oh awesome, thanks for responding! I love (no pun intended) Lovecraftian horror, it's such a specific feeling of dread. I'll have to add Event Horizon to my horror movie watch list. At 32 I think I'm finally brave enough to handle scary movies 😅
This is a bit of my own head-canon mixed with some theories I've read. The Black Marker was likely sent by the Brethren Moons (I am not sure if it has been confirmed whether they can make Black Markers or not, but considering their intelligence, I don't doubt they can) as a form of self propagation. That brings up a question, though. Considering that a Marker and a vast amount of biomass (which necessitates the presence of lifeforms) is required to make a Brethren moon, who made the first Black Marker? The answer is most likely an ancient alien civilization. Markers are not natural formations in the universe, they are fabricated. There could have been an unknown number of applications an advanced alien civilization could have first invented the Marker for. It radiates harness-able energy which can solve the energy crisis and yet it causes untold violence, mayhem, and destruction. With that in mind, the first one ever made could have been a Doomsday Weapon used by one alien civilization on another in an intergalactic war. It could have been sent stealthily or even readily given as a "peace offering". Upon reaching its target, it would spell the end of all things on the planet it was used on before forming a Brethren Moon to kill the rest of the target alien civilization. Unfortunately for whoever the creator was, the Brethren Moon is smart enough to know its existence is an existential threat to sentient lifeforms in the known universe. If whoever built it originally had no way to ensure control over what they made, their own creation would devour them as well. Alone, yet with the knowledge of its creators, it could then propagate so it would never be alone. After all, who wants to be alone in Dead Space?
@@Listening_Books12345Event Horizon is so, SO good. It's a mind trip from start to finish. You'll like it. I like it and I'm pretty iffy with horror; I can handle psychological horror like Hereditary no problem, but slashers and lots of gore turn me off. I can't play Dead Space because it was way too intense for me, but I love the lore. Videos like this allow me to get the story without having to suffer through trying to play the games myself. I tried Dead Space and nearly broke my ex's PlayStation 3 trying to play it. He had the controller plugged in and something scared me so much I jumped a mile and nearly pulled the entire console off the shelf. I was like, "Nope. I'm good. I'm going to bed. F**k this game goodnight!"
This is incredibly accurate. I have read all the books, played all the games and even dove deep on the online forums. I’ve even played the mobile game. You sir have done your research well and I amend you
I've got to say, this is by far one of my favorite videos for Dead Space and it's simply a timeline! I have read a few of the books and love the whole lore and backstory to the original game, and I've been waiting for a clear representation/storyline about the Dead Space main story along with the spinoffs, movies and books. Bravo!! 👏👏
I think it was a missed opportunity not having Lexine and her child even alluded to in DS3. I really feel like the two plotlines should have come together by then.
One of those videos, where I put it on, thinking it might be nice background noise, and then I become heavily invested, and end up sitting by my phone like my parents around a radio.
This was a fine re-entry into the series. I appreciate you covering the pieces I never had the chance to look over like the mobile game and the books/comic-books.
I will forever die angry about the ending of the Altman book. Knowing that the dude not only didn't believe in the marker but was trying to stop it only to end up being the public face of the WHOLE FAITH?! That book broke me back in the day.
I'm sure someone has pointed this out already but I love that whenever there's scribbling on the wall you always manage to sneak in a plug for your channel
I really love this video, it must've taken lots of hours to bring it all together. You are, a legend. What I am also HIGHLY impressed is the Studio and developers and the writers that did all the content and spread the content to other like minded people to make all these games and stories in their different mediums. AND THEN its all interwoven together to bring about this story, which is mostly horrible in the lives and those that are affected and lost. Lets be real here, its a horrible upon horrible situation...it's not happy stuff. But, its compelling. It's why the Dead Space trilogy is in my Top 5. I wonder, now that the new remake is coming, will it do DS2 and DS3? Again, well done SG, you are a legend for making this. (and of course, my thanks to those that worked with you and assisted)
This is the first time in a long time that a long video like this captured my attention all the way through (without me just playing it back in the background while gaming etc.), especially since I didn't know this channel before. This is incredibly well made!
Poor Lexine, had to go through two fucking outbreaks, work towards finding a shuttle to escape, only to have one of her party lose a limb and die in the process...
this entire franchise is basically halo, but instead the flood are the primary antagonist. I’ve listened to this over and over again, and it’s really engaging. Especially because it takes a good hour and a half before we’re even introduced to Isaac. It gives us A LOT of details of how the church of unitoligy was created, and how the markers first showed up.
Is no one talking about the brilliance of "Like, comment and subscribe to suggestive gaming" just before the 1:12:17 mark? (and a few other times before that!) This was amazingly done! I couldn't look away for a moment! keep up the awesome work! :D
Great cover of the entire dead space timeline. The lore was always so interesting to me because of the alien marker and what it does to humans. Hopefully in a 4th game we'll finally know who made the marker
There’s no indication that the new game is a reboot. It is a remake covering the same story as the first game. But the comment you’re replying to was referring to a hypothetical sequel to Dead Space 3 that will hopefully happen some day.
@@SuggestiveGaming yes exactly! The creator of the dead space Franchise said that he would like the game to get a reboot so he could work on Dead Space 4 in which I heard the story would be Isaac Clark and Ellie planet hopping fighting through varies necromorphs destroying markers on planets. Because nukes ain't destroying the brethren moons and humans are pretty much F*cked that ending seemed so hopeless for humanity. 4 moons coming at the whole planet wow lol

awesome channel you really go above and beyond to explain the lore chronologically like damn not a lotta people put that much effort forward, good video
I genuinely hope 3 is the end of the DS series, or that they retcon it. The Brethren Moons are a God entity that the characters have no ability to fight whatsoever. Outside of a literal act of God, there's no way humanity survives once the moons found Earth.
Wow this was a great informative timeline and thank you for putting this together. I know it wasn't easy but I am glad it worked out for you and this video.
I recently saw videos on the flood vs necromorphs and your video really helped me understand the symptoms of this afflicted with the virus before becoming necromorphs. I have to say, a clash between the two would be cool, but I’d argue that if they worked together, their union would terrorize the universe. See if you use precursor powder in the construction of a marker, the purest material the flood manifests from, you’d have the neural physics of the flood manipulating the functions of the marker, displaying messages to those afflicted that are both of the symbols and joining in singing victory everlasting. When the marker’s signal starts, instead of people killing themselves, they instead gather at the marker to receive infection forms so they can “become”. Those in the initial gathering become biomass accumulation all over the marker. The flood’s ability to gather all info from the victims gathered in this biomass will then help it formulate tactics to broadcast to its flooded necromorphs.
Wow… just wow. Thank you so much, I was desperately wanting to know the whole lore of dead space and you absolutely hit the nail on the head. This is some fine work! Keep it up!

Dead space is better, several times over. If you think Callisto Protocol is better, it’s probably because it’s your first DS-like game you’ve ever played.
John Carpenter is interested to do a dead space movie, if he did a movie about Micheal Altman's story then it would be a smash hit, even the scary ending of Altman dying to a very gruesome death
Wow… I don’t think I’ve ever been so invested in a video of this length. This just proves how well crafted this whole story is. With this remake coming out, I’m hoping that this will reanimate the entire franchise, enough to continue where the final moments of DS3: Awakened left off. This made me want more and to have our questions of where everything stands become answered. INSANE Bravo and props to you sir for putting this all together in such a cohesive way. I couldn’t even imagine how long this one video had to have taken. I’m absolutely blown away 👏👏👏 can’t wait for 1/27/23!!!
My guy got it right AND in order. I've listened to SO MANY different "timeline" videos by people who DON'T KNOW what they're talking about 🤣🤣🤣 THIS was the absolute perfection major networks look for. Outfrigginstanding, buddy! How long did this take you to put together?
So many timeline videos? Like? I only saw one other and it only cover the pivotal events in the series (the games) which wasn’t essential bad just brief.
I love the fact that these books are canon because it shows that everything is a lie. It really messes with you. Also, did Brethren Moon's know where Earth was, or did they do some reverse psychology on Issac and Carver to reveal it?
The story would indicate that they didn't know and spent the Awakened DLC learning the location. If they were able to learn from the events of the first game, it also makes sense that travelling from whatever part of the universe they were in took some time. Either way, it isn't clear to me, but my understanding is that they needed to trick the boys into revealing the secret.
You guys did such a great job with this! You guys did so good I actually had to go back and watch it twice because I felt like I missed some stuff! Keep it up!

You even cover a few more of my favourite games, like Dead Space here.
So nobody wins? No happy endings just a series of miserable ends? I hope that doesn’t sound argumentative because this was absolutely amazingly put together and well done. I’m going to be watching many more of these videos, it’s just what a grim series.
There's so many good games that deserve a big budget movie(s) Certain things are hard because of specific characters etc but Dead Space? I liked the animated movie but I believe Dead space deserves a big time cast and budget to make a trilogy. I mean come on already
Honestly a 12 episode season with the Altman plot would be brilliant. If it were well made you could then establish subsequent seasons in present timeline. Dead Space isn't just some B flick horror movie waiting to happen, it has the deep and interesting lore to be a fantastic IP.

@@hafizghani1690 Did he? I was under the impression that he was just a whistleblower that other people have come to deify. As in other people founded the cult, he was just the unsuspecting unknowing figurehead.

Yep. Unitology is just Scientology mixed with Heaven’s Gate mixed with People’s Temple mixed with Weyland-Yutani.

Edit: I've always loved how Michael altman is an unintended martyr. It was so much fun to read and see how things played out. Catalyst was such a quick read that i couldn't stop. I highly reccomend the read for anyone interested

@@theramonejones yup it's on the game pass I play it to this day
Eldrich horror games tend to have a deeper lore.... don t dismiss horror like that bro.
@@efxnews4776 fallout has similar missions as well.
Listening to all these story recaps during work makes the days fly by man. I love listening to these.
Man I can’t imagine a bleaker depiction of human resistance than humans living in the shadow of the brethren moon
Well it's nigh impossible to hope for DS4 especially after the introduction of the remake
@@TheReZisTLust To me, yes.
it's kind of crazy how well all the prequel materials for ds1 fit together, the only real conflict being the somewhat confusing timeline between Nicole's distress signal and the kellion already being on the way as the Extraction characters were leaving

My Goodness the work and love put into this video 😭😭😭 I'm so sad that the video ended, this man deserves everything
This was amazing, man. Never occurred to me how interlaced the lore was to itself, even outside of the main games
Kiinda like the Engineer from Alien before Scott Effed it up?
Fantasic summary of the series. I had no idea Altman was such a chad and was ready to go up against a necromorph with a sharpened spoon.
The amount of dedication you put into these timeline videos is amazing. Nice work, this is awesome. ❤️😎👏👏👏
Thank you very much!
I've got to say, this is by far one of my favorite videos for Dead Space and it's simply a timeline! I have read a few of the books and love the whole lore and backstory to the original game, and I've been waiting for a clear representation/storyline about the Dead Space main story along with the spinoffs, movies and books. Bravo!! 👏👏
I respect how much time and effort was put into this monster of a video. Thank you, and well done, it deserves more recognition
I think it was a missed opportunity not having Lexine and her child even alluded to in DS3. I really feel like the two plotlines should have come together by then.
Man I love this franchise. It’s pretty cool how each story connects to each other with certain events tying into one another.
At least we know the crazy cultists always get what’s coming to them
Its weird they haven't made a Movie trilogy yet

That's why I don't like EA.. bought what they saw was profit opportunity. Then just gutted and left dead space to die.
This is the first time in a long time that a long video like this captured my attention all the way through (without me just playing it back in the background while gaming etc.), especially since I didn't know this channel before. This is incredibly well made!
It's captivating
i never thought i was interested in the Dead Space lore, and i never knew it has such deep lore. it was an interesting and educative watch!
This was absolutely FUDGING AMAZING!!!! The thoroughness and detail to string all the lore together, FUDGING BADASS. Great job.

Poor Lexine, had to go through two fucking outbreaks, work towards finding a shuttle to escape, only to have one of her party lose a limb and die in the process...
The amount of effort put into this one video is among the most I’ve seen for a UA-cam video. Major props, man.
this entire franchise is basically halo, but instead the flood are the primary antagonist.
I’ve listened to this over and over again, and it’s really engaging. Especially because it takes a good hour and a half before we’re even introduced to Isaac. It gives us A LOT of details of how the church of unitoligy was created, and how the markers first showed up.

Great cover of the entire dead space timeline. The lore was always so interesting to me because of the alien marker and what it does to humans. Hopefully in a 4th game we'll finally know who made the marker
you know its a reboot right
There’s no indication that the new game is a reboot. It is a remake covering the same story as the first game.
But the comment you’re replying to was referring to a hypothetical sequel to Dead Space 3 that will hopefully happen some day.
@@SuggestiveGaming yes exactly! I love how their subconscious wants them to know the marker is not to be trusted.
Many people who dream in real life has those experiences with dreams aswell.

Who the heck thought it was a good idea to name a colony “New Roanoke”? That’s begging for something to happen. Like naming a boat the New Titanic.
IT IS HERE!!
Altman be praised
This is my new favorite lore channel, its like reading an audio book your so good man! 😁 Awesome video!

I am so excited to be playing that game next week and see the comparison between the two games 😃😃 hope it blows my mind away as everyone says it will and make me play the other 2 games after I’m done with Dead Space remake! 😎 can’t wait!
tbh if you liked callisto protocol, i think you'd really like the dead space franchise. im pretty sure they were created by the same people?? could be wrong but i swear i heard that. i hope you enjoy but dead space 1 is definitely terrifying at points. i hope the remake keeps the same feel

Honestly a 12 episode season with the Altman plot would be brilliant. If it were well made you could then establish subsequent seasons in present timeline. Dead Space isn't just some B flick horror movie waiting to happen, it has the deep and interesting lore to be a fantastic IP.
