Who on earth thought it was a good idea to name something Forscan?

I just bought an f350 and used the forescan to mod my truck. I love the ability to do some small things to make it more convenient for me as well as personalize it slightly. I turned off the double honk feature when left running, but I also enabled the secure idle so it can’t be taken out of park without a key inside the truck. I leave mine running allot with out locking the doors. It ads a LITTLE bit of security by not allowing it to be moved.

One of the best video's to date. I have had numerous Ford trucks over the years and had no idea about the exterior lock keypad items you showed. The last 20+ years I have bought 4x4's for boondocking and not having to worry about getting stuck (within reason). I have only used it a couple of times but saved a long walk to get cell service to call a tow truck and a $600-$800 tow bill. I was able to stay camped while it was snowing a few times as well .

We got the brand new super duty for work this year, 350 6.7 and driving around empty I'm getting like 16-20 mpg and then with a 14k lb trailer I average around 12 to 13 mpg. These 10 speeds are no joke. Shifts are smooth and picks up speed real good too. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year!!

Reminds me of a 15 yr old busboy (very high IQ, 40 yrs later prominent Judge) that worked for me years ago. In training I kept emphasizing the importance of applying elbow grease while cleaning bathrooms. Great kid, also sought to do things correctly and was diligent. His turn came up to clean bathrooms ... he came up to me apologizing that he couldn’t find the elbow grease for cleaning the bathrooms.

Just some input.....with ForScan, it's best to use a wired OBD2 interface (one with switch required for ForScan functions). Some have problems with interference and misloading the changes when doing wireless.
I had both and felt way more comfortable and seemed quicker wired.
    Hope this helps!

A few things ( I apologize if someone has already pointed these out) While the gentleman (Joel) is technically correct that the console safe can be ordered through Ford, it isn't made by Ford. It can be had cheaper from the company that makes it, which is Console Vault. I have had them on my last 6 trucks to include my 2017 F250 and my 2020 F250 (same console, same part number from Console Vault). They are very easy to install as well. As for the gear ratio and transmission discussion, I had a 3.55 in my 2017 with the 6 speed. When I ordered my 2020 (in late 2019) Ford told me that the 3.55 actually came with the heavier duty towing package. (When I tow, it is about 10K lbs.) My truck has the 3.31. The reason the 3.31 is standard - is in fact that wonderful 10 speed. More gears, steps - allow the truck to tow the same, but with a better final drive ratio. This thing is delightful on Texas roads at ~80 MPH; it positively "loafs", and gets great gas mileage. What I am saying in short is that it can be said that "a 2020 with a 3.31 tows no less than a 2019 with a 3.55", but has better highway manners because of the 3.31 and the final gear ratio in the 10 speed versus the 6 speed.

It's important to mention that many of the features mentioned are not available on all Super Duty Ford's. Marc has the high model. There are different camera options and various other options based on if you have an XL, XLT, etc. The most options on the Platinum. No tool will allow you to modify or create options that don't exist. Good video. You will want to do more research before you drive in head first.

Being a professional railroader, some my coworkers and I feel that train horns should be illegal. Those that have them think it’s cute to honk them near railroaders working. If we’re working it scares the crap out of us thinking there’s a train approaching and we could injure ourselves getting away from the tracks.

In Arizona (most likely other states as well), if you get diesel at a truck stop and go where the big rigs go, you are paying 18 cents more per gallon for the "highway diesel" (there is a sticker on the pump stating so). Go to the "Auto diesel" pumps and you will not be giving the state money they don't deserve. You only need to get fuel at the "highway diesel" if you are over 26K GVW and/or have more than 2 axels on the tractor. RV's or school buses with more than two axels are exempt because they are not commercial and not for hire. I guess guys with Super Dutys want to be like the big boys just to look cool.

The area for the key, is used to read the key if the battery in the fob dies. After using the emergency blade key in the fob to enter the truck, you place the key in the the hidden spot, which energizes the key so the vehicle can read the key and start the vehicle.

We are especially considerate when fueling our class A diesel pusher at truck stops, and are always as expeditious as we can be, but we sometimes find that the truckers in front of us in the lanes are less so. They will pull up to the pumps and leave their vehicle for several minutes (we've experienced up to a half hour), return to their truck, pump their fuel (which takes a long time because they're pumping 200 gallons or more), then pull forward and stop, as is the common courtesy at truck stops, then leave their truck again to go inside, and return to their truck and leave after another 15-20 minutes. It's almost as if they're doing it because they have an RV behind them in the lane. The problem is, there are always trucks in the same lane behind us.

My approach to purchasing the 2016 F250 was the same as yours. They were discounted heavily when the 2017 aluminum body trucks were coming out. Plus most of the bugs are worked out since it is the end of the run. It came with the 3.55 gears. I only buy 4x4, we get snow and ice where I live and I like to explore once I disconnect the trailer. Made some of the mods you have shown except for air compressor/air horn. LED lights on the rear were one of the first, so nice to be able to see when backing at night. ECU updates were 6 flashes for blinker, 50 gal fuel tank, DPF percent and fogs while on high beam. Manual regen with my generation of F250 needs to be done with laptop. I think the earlier years that are XL or XLT can be done manually. Wish I could read DEF level, but it will tell you when you are below 1/2 full and when you have 500 miles left. If anyone needs the spreadsheet of changes for 2011 to 2016 I have it. Oh, don't forget the chrome muffler bearing, that's a cool mod. :-), Forgot to add that just ordered the full card a few days ago, ref KYD

True and Ram had the bed 3rd brake camera in 2013/14 already way before Ford or GM did. But Ford did step up with the first 360*. Tho, like you said the picture quality isn't that great.
I drove a 2017 F350 with the 360* before we got our 2016 F350 with the std backup camera, and seems the 2017 cams were very white washed compared to the older single cam

Happy Holiday guys...I have a 19’ F-350 with the 6.7L diesel. I didn’t hear you mention it but in Forscan you can select Bambi mode which enables you to use the fog lights with the high beams on at night. Factory settings will turn off the fog lights when you go to your bright lights. Bambi modes allows the fog lights to stay on....there’s also a cornering light mode that will turn on just the left or just the right fog light depending on the direction you turn and then cancels the fog light once you straighten the wheel out.

Topic for your next video. I also tow and Airstream, initially with and F-150, but upgraded to an F-250 in 2019. My F-150 had a 30 Amp breaker and would supply power to my airstream when connected and the truck was running. The F-250 has a mini 30 amp breaker, as best I have a trickle charge to the battery. Often I get the “battery not charging” message. I took the truck to a dealer and they insist nothing is wrong. Any Thoughts?

That is interesting about the trailer brake controller. I found my self having to back down a very steep hill and it felt like my RV brakes would take a while before they would "kick in". It was quite scary and it felt like I had zero brakes, going backwards,, down hill and my 40 foot toy hauler pulling me. Thanks for the information.

This was a video I have been looking for ever since we got our Ford Super Duty. THANK YOU!!! I had the DEF guage showing once, but changed it for our first trip to get the RV in October 2019 and then couldn't find out how to get it back on the guage display. The manual didn't help much and searching for it online didn't work either. I got a lot of useful information out of this video and have saved the web link for rewatching it a few more times to write down some useful notes in my Ford-Log book.

Marc, I am obsessed with horn. You might say I’m a little,... well you know. I was a full time motorcyclist 1999 - 2010. It was my full time 4 season vehicle. For that reason I put a air horn on my bike; a 1999 Honda Valkyrie. Motorcycles disappear in traffic and it’s needed to get peoples attention.

Okay kids hopefully I just misunderstood this nice fellow. But did he say something about airing up your tires to 10% over what it says on the sidewall of the tire?
If that’s what he said do not and I mean do not, do that. Only if you want your tires to blow out when hitting a big pot hole. Facts! You only need 80 psi in a 10 ply tire in the rear when hauling a heavy load do not drive around with 80/90 psi in your rear tires unless you like buying tires and having your ass end jump all over the place. Adjust accordingly.

You might to play with the tire pressure i order to get better mpg if that’s something you care about. The mpg you claim you’re getting should be higher, if your tire pressure is low your mph will suffer. Try increase the pressure for a a couple of tank fulls and see if it improves

10 speed is awesome. I got the 7.3 gas and 4.30 gears in my 2020 350 long bed. Towing 38ft travel trailer and golf cart in the bed of the truck. @@Anthony-qq2ue I traded it in for a 2022 f450. Loved the truck no issues whatsoever. We decided to go full time rv and I upsized my rig to a 42ft 18000lb fifth wheel. The 350 single tire was just not enough truck to comfortably pull a rig that size. It was a great truck though, I really liked the engine and Trans. The 1100ft/lbs of the 6.7 with the 10 speed is on another level though. Incredible pulling power.

@@Anthony-qq2ue Yes it is, significantly better than the 350. The ride is a bit stiff, but the 4.30 gears and giant brakes are pretty awesome for towing. I went up the Eisenhower in Colorado which goes over 11k ft and it was barely straining the truck. It is a beast.
