Reminds me of a 15 yr old busboy (very high IQ, 40 yrs later prominent Judge) that worked for me years ago. In training I kept emphasizing the importance of applying elbow grease while cleaning bathrooms. Great kid, also sought to do things correctly and was diligent. His turn came up to clean bathrooms ... he came up to me apologizing that he couldn’t find the elbow grease for cleaning the bathrooms.

    Love the air horn!
Being a professional railroader, some my coworkers and I feel that train horns should be illegal. Those that have them think it’s cute to honk them near railroaders working. If we’re working it scares the crap out of us thinking there’s a train approaching and we could injure ourselves getting away from the tracks.

I just bought an f350 and used the forescan to mod my truck. I love the ability to do some small things to make it more convenient for me as well as personalize it slightly. I turned off the double honk feature when left running, but I also enabled the secure idle so it can’t be taken out of park without a key inside the truck. I leave mine running allot with out locking the doors. It ads a LITTLE bit of security by not allowing it to be moved.

The area for the key, is used to read the key if the battery in the fob dies. After using the emergency blade key in the fob to enter the truck, you place the key in the the hidden spot, which energizes the key so the vehicle can read the key and start the vehicle.

My approach to purchasing the 2016 F250 was the same as yours. They were discounted heavily when the 2017 aluminum body trucks were coming out. Plus most of the bugs are worked out since it is the end of the run. It came with the 3.55 gears. I only buy 4x4, we get snow and ice where I live and I like to explore once I disconnect the trailer. Made some of the mods you have shown except for air compressor/air horn. LED lights on the rear were one of the first, so nice to be able to see when backing at night. ECU updates were 6 flashes for blinker, 50 gal fuel tank, DPF percent and fogs while on high beam. Manual regen with my generation of F250 needs to be done with laptop. I think the earlier years that are XL or XLT can be done manually. Wish I could read DEF level, but it will tell you when you are below 1/2 full and when you have 500 miles left. If anyone needs the spreadsheet of changes for 2011 to 2016 I have it. Oh, don't forget the chrome muffler bearing, that's a cool mod. :-), Forgot to add that just ordered the full card a few days ago, ref KYD

We are especially considerate when fueling our class A diesel pusher at truck stops, and are always as expeditious as we can be, but we sometimes find that the truckers in front of us in the lanes are less so. They will pull up to the pumps and leave their vehicle for several minutes (we've experienced up to a half hour), return to their truck, pump their fuel (which takes a long time because they're pumping 200 gallons or more), then pull forward and stop, as is the common courtesy at truck stops, then leave their truck again to go inside, and return to their truck and leave after another 15-20 minutes. It's almost as if they're doing it because they have an RV behind them in the lane. The problem is, there are always trucks in the same lane behind us.

The last 20+ years I have bought 4x4's for boondocking and not having to worry about getting stuck (within reason). I have only used it a couple of times but saved a long walk to get cell service to call a tow truck and a $600-$800 tow bill. I was able to stay camped while it was snowing a few times as well .

Happy Holiday guys...I have a 19’ F-350 with the 6.7L diesel. I didn’t hear you mention it but in Forscan you can select Bambi mode which enables you to use the fog lights with the high beams on at night. Factory settings will turn off the fog lights when you go to your bright lights. Bambi modes allows the fog lights to stay on....there’s also a cornering light mode that will turn on just the left or just the right fog light depending on the direction you turn and then cancels the fog light once you straighten the wheel out.

The manual didn't help much and searching for it online didn't work either. Another tip on the hidden key fob holder in the console - if the battery is weak in the key fob, placing the fob it in that compartment will allow you to start the truck and drive it to the store to get a new battery for the fob!
Is there a FORScan code to keep the 5th wheel camera (or any selected camera) on as you change gears from reverse to drive and back to reverse while lining up on the hitch? My biggest aggravation with the camera is that it switches back to the normal backup camera anytime I shift to drive so I have to tap the screen again to get back to the 5th wheel camera. I do agree the camera angle and lighting isn't ideal. I've made it a bit better by using 1 in white gaffer's tape- 1 strip on the hitch and 2 strips with a gap on the pin box. The contrast helps with the lighting to line up quickly.

I have a 2021 F350 diesel DRW with a 4.10 axle ratio with the 10 speed. At first I didn't care for it. Thought it was just to many gears. Now, I wouldn't give it up. Pull a 40 ft ,6 slide Alpine rv as if wasn't even hooked up. At 65 to 70, it's still under 2000 ram and quiet in the cab. Hi Marc, have you looked into a product called “gear vendor”?
It is a gear box that bolts on to the end of your transmission (which means you will have to get your driveshaft shortened) this unit work’s similar to a big truck with a transmission with an upper and lower range. This gives each gear an upper range, a lower range, and the range that is in the transmission. This gives you the ability to go even higher or lower in your ratio. The articles that I’ve read or seen on UA-cam say you will increase your fuel mileage by about 15-20%. It’s a very simple install, not counting your drive shaft needing to be shortened, this can be done in an afternoon.

The DEF changes you made were included in an update to the trucks system last year. I had an issue where my check engine light came on. The truck needed a regen, but I was not driving it far enough to work for a regeneration. Took the truck in and the update added the percent window and the regeneration control.
I've also had the wobble only in my 17 F250. A 2005 and 2013 F250 were fine. The latest replacement steering damner corrected the issue. Be careful with changes to the steering, that will void the warranty for any future issues. I also researched other changes and have chosen not to do them due to the warranty.

If you decide to re-do phone mount or add another item like RV GPS, look at F Series specific mount from Builtright Industries that goes in the center tray on top of the dash. Combined with RAM Mounts components you can add lots of things, including phone mounts that aren’t specific to phone model, and have lots of adjustment options with arms and swivels. HNY and travel safe.

I have a 24" horn from a freightliner that I got in trade from my father-in-law who used to be a truck driver. I want to get it mounted on my Tundra some day, but I have to make brackets for it. It is a little different tone than your grover, but man it is loud. Your tech's reaction was classic. It is so good to laugh again! Great video, Marc.

Finally finished watching the airstream series. Thank you for all the information y'all have provided. I was out of my league when it came down to knowing about RVing. But the videos has informed me and helped me make my decision on saving up to get a truck and an airstream. Thank you so very much.

I have a 2006 F-250, 6.0 Diesel, FX4, extended cab and loving it. Am also an amateur radio operator, so no desire for the sunroof (need the metal for mag-mount antennas). The rear hinged back door is useful for my other antennas.

11:15 I bought the proclip too for the same reasons. To address your cons, on proclip's website I bought the MagicMount Pro XL. My wife has an iPhone and I have a Samsung Note.
It's a large magnet you stick on the base their. The benifit is the metal plates attach to any phone or tablet you have. It has a cleaner look IMO with the magic mount. Because when not in use it doesn't take up as much space.

I think they outlawed blinker fluid in Florida. Where you have the key fob is for when the battery is dead in it so you can start the truck ( all with push button start on ford will have that) some are center console others are cup holder. When towing definitely keep an eye on trans temp that is the thing that will kill automatic transmissions the fastest.

Up here in the PNW, 2WD trucks are mostly unheard of. It's been that way since probably the mid 90s.
The only 2wd trucks I ever see are fleet trucks, which are always white.

SAN ANTONIO! Apparently they are bad for window breaking car thieves. Happened to us a few years ago. While we were waiting for it to be fixed we had our window taped up, and a local saw it and shared that it happened to them and told us how common it was.

    • @KeepYourDaydream
      @KeepYourDaydream  3 роки тому +19

@@BTBRVReviews It depends on if you're making 3 batches or 6. When the recipe doubles, it's critical to use automotive. And never store blinker fluid in the fridge next to the lemonade. Ask Caleb how he knows!

If you’re towing you have to use RV antifreeze, if you’re not then automotive antifreeze. It’s kind of a pain having to switch out the blinker fluid every time I hook up or unhook but the home made blinker fluid is so much better that it’s worth it.

3.73 is used in the heavy tow pack Expedition and I think some versions of the F150, it has the Elocker function also. My Expedition has it 3.5 Eco or boost👍. My Expedition doesn’t have as much dingers maybe Ford was thinking work boot guys need reminders 😆. The 3.73 is pretty decent with the 10spd though I could see the 6 or 8 spds getting a bit wound up on the highway when not towing. But 3.73 with the 10spd the little 3.5 lopes along at 75-80 at pretty low rpm. I recall with the Exp the 3.73 vs 3.31 was only 1-2mpg difference on the sticker👍

Why I like 4 wheel drive when towing: Low Range when backing into a spot. Gives more torque, sort of like tractors the trailer across the soft stuff, over the bump, whatever, it is just seems more smooth than having to press lightly on the accelerator then having to get off of it again.

In the 2019s cordless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not possible. Only in 2020+ if I recall. It has to be SYNC 4.
The benefit of connecting by wire, at least in the 2017-2019, is that the playback quality is better. I’ve had it connected by BT and playing as I connected to USB, and there was a noticeable improvement in quality.

Your buddy talked about the need for a lockable safe, because of how quickly someone smashed his window and got into the truck. What do you think will happen to your contents when they push the brake and ignition button and the engine starts, because your key is always left in it? Even still, what do you think your insurance company is going to do, if they find out they stole it because you left your key in it?

Just some input.....with ForScan, it's best to use a wired OBD2 interface (one with switch required for ForScan functions). Some have problems with interference and misloading the changes when doing wireless.
I had both and felt way more comfortable and seemed quicker wired.
    Hope this helps!
