Getting our Chameleon Tuesday or Wednesday and I just want to say thank you for all the information. This has been stressful, but every question we have had you have answered in these videos. Thank you for what you do!!!!
CuzJeff How exciting! What kind of chameleon are you getting? You are very welcome :) Let me know if you have any other questions.
Neptune the Chameleon A Nosy Be Panther. All your videos pretty much answered them all. Expect we are stuck on building inside of the Cage. What to use and what not to use. Real or fake plants and what kind of vines. We pretty much tried to buy the best of everything even though this is our first time, but we wanna make sure everything we have is nice and works.
Ah congrats! A Nosy Be is a great choice. Definitely live plants! I have a video about that: ua-cam.com/video/1eJ9jKXCGoE/v-deo.html Fake vines can be tricky because a lot are made poorly and not meant to be wet/moist all the time and will fall apart or collect bacteria. Try getting something like a pothos plant that will create natural vines.
Hiya! How are they doing?
Hi
OMG 😂 three nights 😭 of nonstop lights,I just shut them off..my bad ..omg I'm sorry :(
SAME I JUST DIDN'T WANT RANGO TO BE COLD. 😬😬😬
My god. I wonder how can you keep an exotic animal if you dont know the basics like i dont understand that. Im not attacking you or anything. Im just saying that you really need to learn every aspect of those animals that you want to keep. They really like temp drop at night. I dont want go fight or anything i just dont understand people who get exotic animals and dont kniw the basics. I hoolpe you improved and that you cham is happy and healthy
@@AveragePlayerEXP Honestly ive been researching non stop since i got him. I didnt plan to get him. I just wanted to stop in at petsmart and look for a mouse. But they were out of mice. And i saw the baby chameleon just pawing at the glass on his cage. And i felt bad for him. He seemed so distressed. So i got him. Thats how i ended up with mine. And i searched and searched online about it. But most websites are opinion. Or they give unclear information. And ive learned more from this channel than any other thing ive looked at.

Your the best, you have no equal in this subject matter. I care for my daughter's chameleon while she's at school (college) and I've learned more from yoir tutorials than any petsmart/petco associate. Thank you so much 💓🙏
You are so welcome 💚 Glad you’re finding them helpful!
Mine likes to sprawl between two branches like someone drunk passed out at a party. Took him to a vet because he was being a weirdo and basically paid money to have someone tell me he's just weird.
Haha sometimes they have weird sleeping positions.
@@NeptunetheChameleon He freaked me out the other day when I went to refill the dripper and all the other water necessities to find him dangling by his tail completely limp on his pothos. Went to poke him to see if he was even alive thinking he'd fallen and tried to grab himself and knocked himself out or something. Turns out the pothos can't hold his weight anymore and instead of doing his usual drunken sprawl or, you know, climb somewhere appropriate he just decided to starfish when the branch he was on bent. Got angry face when I went to check if he was even alive to bring to the emergency vet. Apparently chams can hiss quite loudly when they want. Never had my chams give me angry face or have them gape at me. Now he has found a new place to sprawl since I moved him to his new bigger enclosure.
I like how you get right to the point in your videos !!! I always give a thumbs up as the video is starting. 🦎🦎🦎
I appreciate that 😊😊
I want to say that you're the cutest thing in the world. @@NeptunetheChameleon thank you so much! We are so excited :)
Me too . Had 1 surrendered to me a month ago . Watched Everything you have on here . Boy he's doing awesome ❤ Ty so much . 💗
I've had my chameleon for appropriately a month. When I first brought him home he would puff up when I put my hand in his cage. Now he doesn't freak out as much, pretty much stays calm when I reach in to give him is food. Unfortunately, I've done a LOT of rearranging of his plants, lights, mister, fogger etc over the last few weeks. I've learned which plants cannot take being too close to the heat lamp, and I've added lots of branches for him to enjoy. He also is enjoying his new highway system, he's moving around. But at night he sleeps a little lower in his cage or in a darker corner. I think I'm doing good by him, I work at a pet store so he gets crickets, and hornworms, mealworms, and roaches regularly. I never handle him, but I worry that all the rearranging had stressed him out. It's taken some effort, but I've finally got everything secured and on a timer, so hopefully we'll all settle into a routine. Do you think he's okay?
Sounds like you’re making great changes! It can take them up to 2 weeks to get used to enclosure changes so just give him some time :)
I'd like to share a picture of him, where can I send you a picture?@@NeptunetheChameleon

@@NeptunetheChameleon I recently got a chameleon and its very young and I want it to eat pre-killed mealworms along with some live stuff but I don't think it understands that the mealworms are food is their any way to get him to eat them?
That's not a very good idea for a couple of reasons. 1. Mealworms are not recommended for chameleons because of their high levels of chitin and low nutritional value. 2. Chameleons are attracted to movement and only eat live bugs. Here is my video on what to feed a chameleon: ua-cam.com/video/9BAs2Os1XN8/v-deo.html and my video on what NOT to feed to a chameleon: ua-cam.com/video/lkQU2Ue3qbw/v-deo.html

Just found your channel. Thanks for the videos! I'd love to get a chameleon and have been thinking about it for a few years but realise a lot of responsibility is involved. Can I ask you about the amount of water/humidity necessary? Is it ok to just use a spray bottle and hand spray the enclosure 3 to 4 times a day, or is a waterfall/spray system needed?
You are very welcome! Hand misting is totally acceptable. How often you mist is going to depend on the natural humidity levels of where you live, and the type of chameleon you want to have. I go over all of this in my 'How to water your chameleon' video: ua-cam.com/video/3nD9lT17D9c/v-deo.html

Ure so smart and I’m so glad Ure making videos for these beautiful anaimals! I do have to say tho, most of all my chameleons I ever had except two I would never handle unless need be. I had a veiled and a Jackson’s (at different times since babies) both loved to come out and chill with me where ever if they were in the mood. By that, I mean, waiting at the door for me or when I open the door or come near it, running as fast as possible to me. They were the hardest to lose. 😔 but the most fun oddballs to have. And I’ve been pooped on A LOT!! but Ure very right in everything u say! Ur babies are absolutely beautiful! They are in great hands!
Thank you!

@NeptunetheChameleon hi I have a veiled chameleon and I dont know why but when I put my hand near him to climb on he sometimes hissed at me
hey so my almost 2 year old male veiled chameleon has just fallen asleep in the middle of the day for the first time. his cage is 5 feet tall by 2 feet by 2 feet, he crawled down to the bottom where it's a little darker but i have a blue aquarium light just to have a bit of light down there. he has a 150w heat bulb and a liner 18" 15 watt T8 10.0 uvb. his humidty is hard to keep high but i spike it to 50% 2-3 times a day, mistking goes off 9 times a day and dripper on for usualy an hour each day. im not worried about hydration since his eyes arent sunken and his urate is white but i am worried about uvb penetration since the roof is aluminum mesh and theres a giant live money tree blocking out the bottom half, he usually chills right under his uvb. his basking spot is 90-95 and the rest of his age stays around 75, he's up now after i gently brushed his tail (didn't wake up mad) but he was asleep for about an hour and a half. he is currently on 12 hours of light and 12 off for winter. do i need to worry
same! mine just fell asleep during the day for the first time and i’m scared
@@bliss2114 my guy has been fine since and hasnt done it again, he was up for a while that night after his lights went out which is unusual but i guess i do the same thing if i take a nap. I woke him up after about an hour. Dont think i needed to though
I just got my first Veiled Chameleon a couple days ago! She’s so far doing great, eating and drinking plenty of water!
Just wanted to say thank you for these helpful videos, pet store employees were no help to us so these videos are great :)
I do have one more question that I can’t seem to find anywhere- in the morning when it’s time to turn her lights on, do I just turn on both of her lights even though she is still sleeping? I heard they don’t enjoy being woken up. Wasn’t sure if I should give her time to wake up first?
Her sleeping schedule will adjust to your new lighting schedule so turn them on and off after 12 hours even if she is still asleep. I talk about that more in this video: ua-cam.com/video/2IESxfzFnmc/v-deo.html
My Cham has two favorite sleeping spots .
So does Neptune :)

Once I found my chameleon sleeping my hanging from his tail, like a bat. It was really odd, but it was only once. Is this bad?
Gewels Sch Totally normal! No need to worry :)

Thank you!
Oh no I snuggle with my chameleon 😭 I guess my chameleon hates me now 😂 thx for the info tho
Try not to think of it has them hating you. They are just scared. But now you know what that means and how to avoid that stress :)
Chameleon PJs 🤣
Exactly 😂
Just got a Jackson’s Chameleon. He is 3 months old and we have got him 3 days ago. Today I noticed he is in the middle of the terrarium, tail curled but not sleeping. Just hanging out.He is eating well and drinking. Temps are good in the ranges you recommended as well as care sheets. Waiting on the T5 5.0 HO UVB to come in, no pet stores here carry it so for now he has the 5.0 compact bulb. Plenty of live foliage, Rose Hibiscus, Bromeliad & Croton. Misting 2-3 times a day and seeing him drink. Has been pretty active. Wanted to get opinions on if he is ok.
Joseph Palladino Sounds normal to me. A curled tail can also be a sign of them being scared or defensive as a way to make themselves appear bigger: ua-cam.com/video/xqlJS4OYoG4/v-deo.html It’s not just a sleeping thing. Good luck with your new cham!
My panther chameleon accidentally fell asleep on me in the middle of the night. I gave him some dubia roaches that day, but I haven’t noticed he hasn’t eaten the last one yet. I knew I should be cautious of it, because I knew they can hurt him while he is asleep. Anyway, while he was already asleep I noticed him scratching himself and trying to get away from the roach. I took it out, while I was doing that he climbed on me. He surprisingly trusts me, he enjoys when I offer my hand and he climbs on me and then I let him explore our house plants around the house. So I wasn’t shocked that he trusted me well enough I was used to it. I think he was so tired and just wanted to get away as soon as possible he climbed on my fingers and mistook me for a branch and fell asleep right away. I was worried I would wake him out and he would get scared by me if he realizes where he is. I gently tried to make him go back but he refused to so I just let him sleep on my hands for a few minutes (I was trying not to move for my dear life) he eventually woke up again and I successfully made him realize that he probably isn’t sleeping on a branch and he should go back to his cage.
I just got mine it’s about 3-4 months old and when I’m handling it during the day sometimes it will nap on my finger or sleep on my shoulders it’s only been 2 days sense I’ve had it what should I do is anything wrong or is it adjusting it seems happy and has never hissed or been defensive he’s very friendly boy
As mentioned in the video, a chameleon sleeping on you especially during the day is a sign of stress. I’d give them at least 2 weeks to settle in before handling them. When you do want to take them out, I’d put them on a plant instead of having them hang out on you.
Neptune the Chameleon Perfect I’ve made some changes to it husbandry and gotten a lot more things for him to play on climb on and just giving it overall options for it to do its resting during the night time and more hangouts for it during the day time I can already see some changes in his energy levels he seems way happier and active during the day with his new inclosure and I switched up his food from mealworms cause I heard they don’t have very much nutrition and I bought some crickets and boy did he love that immediately he started eating them straight out of my hand from his cage seems like he’s starting to trust me a little more Day by day thank you so much for your videos they definitely help me to make him happier i’m gonna start by putting my hand just in his cage for 10 minutes a day until he wants to come out and climb on me to gain that bond and trust also feeding him by hand seems to help thank you for getting back to me if there’s anything else I should do please let me know.

@@NeptunetheChameleon I would like to get a veiled chameleon because in South Africa (where I live) those are the only ones you can get without a permit. also I think that they suite my daily routine and my family's routine perfectly. I just can't find a name for him or her :)

Yay! I made a video on what to expect when you bring a new chameleon home that you might find helpful: ua-cam.com/video/2IESxfzFnmc/v-deo.html
Do gradients make themselves naturally as long as the basking temperature is correct if not how can you make gradients and control temperature
Usually, yes. Depends on what the ambient temperature is in the room the enclosure is in, how big the enclosure is, how much coverage and shade the enclosure has from plants, etc.
hey, love the channel. i need some advice i live in hawaii and have a jackson's chameleon his sleep at night is uninterrupted and he also has his spots he likes. What concerns me is that the temperature is mid 70s to 80 degrees at night even with a fan from afar. With that type of temperature could it affect him? if so what are some things i could do? Also, i notice twice today that he was rubbing his head against the branches is that an indication that hes about to shed?? Thank you.
You can find wild Jackson's chameleons in the wild in Hawaii so I have to imagine they are able to withstand those temperatures. I'd try putting an ice pack or ice cubes on top of his enclosure to try and lower the temperatures. The head rubbing may or may not be indicative of him getting ready to shed. Sometimes they just scratch their head or get something in their eye. This is my video about shedding: ua-cam.com/video/0zoEZrW83mQ/v-deo.html
My house is usually quite cold at night, should I still keep my UVB light off ?
All lights should be off at night. I suggest watching my video about heat for chameleons to learn what temps they need at night: ua-cam.com/video/7govEIUlM24/v-deo.html
Nice videos! Greetings from Mexico.
Thank you!!

Thank you :)
My veiled chameleon is not caged she comes to me at bedtime and sleeps on my chest every night we go outside daily I let her play outside without being caged she stays next to me the whole time and when she's finished with outside she climbs back onto my hand and even climbs up onto my head and sits there watching everything around her
They dont change to bright or light colors because they're relaxed. There's more to it... When chameleons are awake they control their color changing process. But when they're asleep they lose the ability to control it. Their pigment cells are relaxed when they're sleeping, they aren't firing up and changing because the cham is asleep and unable to control them.
Jessicalball That’s my understanding as well. When I was saying “they”, I was referring to the cells of the chameleon, not the chameleon itself.
im about 3 years late to the party 😂 but i just became a new veiled chameleon owner and your videos are AMAZING. they have been SO helpful and informative and i’ve watched so many of them, several times actually! lol but i do have a question and i apologize if you’ve already answered this but i haven’t been able to find it in any of your videos. when chameleons wake up in the morning, does it take them a duration of time to fully “wake up”? do you know what i mean? like it takes me an hour to fully wake up and get out of bed 😂 but i was just wondering what was normal “just waking up” behavior for chameleons?
Hello! It usually takes them a few hours to wake up and become active for the day. Then they will typically go to their basking spot and chill there for a bit.
Hi! I might get a chameleon soon and I’m doing research and I’m not sure what time I should turn off their lights for bed also what time to turn it on in the morning
All lights need to be off at night. I usually recommend 12 hours on, and 12 hours off. So you could do something like 7am-7pm or 8:30am-8:30pm. Something like that :)
You should start selling those bananas on the black market lol
Stuff Things 😂😂 They’d be a hot commodity.
I wanna get some of those bananas and put them all in my cage so my chameleon just stares at them and is just like what’s going on
This is my favorite video that you have lol
Is a bad sign if my chameleon goes ti sleep like half an hour before the lamp turns off?
Usually outside the sun's already gone when the lamp shut off around 9:00 P.M.
A half hour isn’t too concerning. You may want to adjust when you’re lights turn on and off to better align with the sun going up and down.
Please respond : I have a female vieled chameleon for the first time I caught her sleeping in the floor of the cage she look and acts soo healthy I’m asking if there’s any action I should take for my chameleons health
Sometimes they sleep in weird spots, but going down to the floor can be a sign of a female wanting to lay eggs. Do you have a laying bin set up for her? Here is a good resource: www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/egg-laying-and-the-laying-bin.345/
Would you recommend covering the enclosure if it’s still bright in the room after the lights go out?
Rob Reptiles Yeah that would be a good idea :)
So I just got a chameleon and I’m not sure like y said in the video if he’s adjusting to his cage abs where his wants to sleep but when he was sleeping he was on the top of his cage sleeping upside down with his tail curled up I know that the tail is normal but I’m not sure what the upside down means ?! Help!
It just means your chameleon is being a weirdo 😂 They can have crazy sleeping positions sometimes. Make sure he has lots of branches and hiding places to feel safe.
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you soooo muchhh I got worrieddd
Love you videos keep up the great work !😄 I have a question so I moved my enclosure last night and my chameleon woke up super stressed and he fell in my feeder cup then. I removed him out of there I wanted to know if the stress with affect him in the long term when I Accidentally woke him up .
Not in the long term, but it might take them a few days/weeks to get readjusted.
We have our cham in the kitchen and we turn all lights off, but sometimes my grandma wants to turn the kitchen light on to do dishes, is this ok? Would it bother him at night?, he's usually under a leaf though I don't want any trouble.
You can always cover his enclosure with a blanket or towel if it's a bright overhead light.
i use a black night heat bulb, does not give off any light is that okay? I just keep it on 24/7 as temperature does drop at night where i live.
A temperature drop at night is beneficial for a chameleon. I would not add any heat unless it gets below 60F.
tysm!!!!
You're welcome!
Is it normal for a veiled chameleon to sleep with its hands not fully griping the branches? I’ve noticed lately that his hands are on the branches but not griping the branch’s( his fingers are off the branch. Hope the makes since?
Wheee are ur facts from? Not saying they are wrong but give better explanation on why they sleep the way they do if u recommend anything
Werid question what plants can I use for Chams I’m so lost with google with everyone sayin one thing another ?
It's actually a very common question :) So common, I made a video all about plants and chameleons. Feel free to check it out and let me know if you still have questions! ua-cam.com/video/1eJ9jKXCGoE/v-deo.html
Umbrella plants, ficus, yucca palm, pothos and majesty palm are the main ones
My poor baby is starting to sleep during the day. I’ve taken her to a reptile vet and she says everything looks okay and she’s on antibiotics for a possible uri (she’s too small for blood work) her humidity is okay and her temps and uvb are all good. I’m at a loss because I feel like the vet isn’t listening to me.
Can you tell me what kind of chameleon you have and what your temps, humidity, UVB, and supplements are?
@@NeptunetheChameleon she is a veiled, sorry it took me so long to reply, we actually just made an appointment and went today to get her uvb tested and it does not reach far enough down, her enclosure is pretty big. So our vet gave us a recommendation to a really great uvb for her. Her humidity sits around 50. She is on calcium and a multi vitamin
Her basking spot sits right around 80-83 as well
❤️❤️
just got a veiled cham and am a first time owner, did some research but still have some first time owner questions, tips on keeping humidity during the night? i was thinking of using a household ceramic heater (small portable one) and misting before bed, the people at the pet store told me the red light was a MUST for night time but ive read otherwise in many places so i got a bit worried on what im suppose to do for proper care at night plus my cham is a baby and i live in california so decent weather
Most keepers use a fogger at night to get a humidity spike. Definitely don't use a red light. Chams can handle colder temps at night and it's actually helpful for them. I wouldn't use a ceramic heat emitter unless it gets below 60F in your house.
Thanks for your video it was very informative. I found a mid-sized chameleon yesterday in the morning. State moved around slightly and is still in that condition this morning. I gather from what I've learned from your video that the chameleon is very sick. I've been misting the chameleon and when I do that the skin changes colors. Anyway looking for a vet that might be able to have a look but is there much that can be done?
Best thing you can do is make sure your enclosure is set up correctly and give them time and privacy to get settled into their new home. Here is the playlist for my top 5 videos for new keepers: ua-cam.com/video/J_WYt6POoog/v-deo.html
I just got a chameleon it’s a baby and I was holding it and it fell asleep on me. Is that bad or no
Yes it’s bad. Means they’re stressing out
When theyre sleeping do they need the entire room their enclosure is in to be pitch black, or just their enclosure? Can they handle a night light or fairy lights being on the other side of the room? I'm considering getting one & I'm trying to figure out if i can have it in my bedroom as it would be most ideal for me, but i want to know beforehand if that means I need to keep my room pitch black at night now
Also, your videos have helped a lot! Thanks!
I think a night light/fairy lights should be fine. You can always cover the enclosure at night if it becomes too bright.
*B a n a n a c h a m e l e o n*
🍌🍌
So we shouldn’t handle them a couple hours before the lights go out, or a couple hours after the lights go out?
Both.
Do I have to turn down all rights or cover a cage with some blanket when chameleon falls asleep?
Because cage is placed in living room.
She falls asleep 4~5 hours earlier we sleep.
What would you do?
My chams are also in my living room. I just try to avoid turning on any unnecessary overhead lights in the evening. Usually by that time only my TV is on anyways. Is she able to stay asleep okay?
Neptune the Chameleon thanks for a reply!
I use blanket as blindfold at the moment. and she sleeps well so far.
You are seemed like put cages in living room.So I just wanna know how do you deal with it.
thanx alot.
Plz help my chameleon is sleeping during the day there are no vets where I live what do I do
Best thing you can do besides going to a vet, is to make changes to your husbandry to make sure it is correct. I’d start with this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLBkCuo7YecLbG_MB7ogFmcoWP2GUXDIGJ.html Also check out chameleonacademy.com and chameleonforums.com
What if there is noise maybe even if the lights are off? Will the chamelion wake up? And stress?
I don't think so. I have had fire alarms go off and they were fine.
What if my room is cold?? I’m hot natured so I keep my room cold but I’m not sure how cold it is? And in the winter it’s really cold
Check how cold it gets at night with a thermometer and watch this video about heat and chameleons: ua-cam.com/video/7govEIUlM24/v-deo.html
I don’t have anything to keep my chameleon warm at night so I have to keep his light on is that okay for a little bit
Johanna Wiebe How cold does it get at night without the light on? They don’t need a heat source at night as long as it doesn’t get below 65F.
Neptune the Chameleon it gets at least around 60F bc my parents do like to keep it quite cold.but I just don’t want the light to interfere with my chameleons sleep
I would suggest using a ceramic heat emitter at night since it doesn’t put off any light. Chameleons need darkness to sleep properly.
Neptune the Chameleon okay thank you so much I’ll order one of those
Whay kind of ceramic heat emitter should i use or you can recommend (for baby chameleons)?
How cold does it get at night in your home?
@@NeptunetheChameleon we have ac on at night and it gets pretty cold
Giselle Paniagua Do you know what temperature your AC is set to?
We just got a subadult male veiled yesterday and he was really feisty. He did nap a tiny bit once we got him in his cage around noon but has not again. Should I be worried? I figured it was just the the severe stress of travel in winter in Wisconsin!
Continue to keep an eye on them and give them a few days to get settled in. Make sure they have lots of hiding places and that you have the correct UVB (ua-cam.com/video/5RVjgaLsWn8/v-deo.html) and supplementation (ua-cam.com/video/nLONCW9tSPA/v-deo.html).
Do chameleons ever sleep with there mouth slightly opened? I notice mine was doing that the other day and I am worried. Do you think he’s OK?
I have not heard of that happening so it definitely makes me nervous.
I have a new hackling Panther chameleon. I was so worried bc he curled his tail and turned a lighter color. thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I've changed to a linear uvb and know right temps cage should be because of your channels. now I heard you say that they shouldn’t eat or anything for two or three hours before they go to bed does that apply to hatchlings? And how often should I be feeding him? I tried to feed him in a smaller cage so that the fruit flies couldn’t run away and he would have an easier time finding them but he won't eat so I shook some out in his big cage and he finally ate! He drank Water off of the side of the small cage as soon as I took it out of the shipping container but it was almost 15 hours later before I found a way that he would eat. FYI I'm saying he but idk the sex. His or her name is Cricket.
Yes that also applies to hatchlings. Hatchings should have a constant supply of food. It's very difficult to sex a panther chameleon that young. You should be able to in the next few months :)
Your funny
I can hear my pie bald veiled breathing while he sleeps. Is that normal?
Not every breath, often, but not every breath.
sounds like a quiet human sigh more than anything.
I don’t hear any of my chameleons breathing. Could be an indicator of an upper respiratory infection.
Neptune the Chameleon so we're not supposed to be able to hear them breathe occasionally? How does that automatically mean a respiratory infection? Because your chameleons don't do it?
Hi :) Please don't take my comment as me trying to diagnose your chameleon with an URI. I was just trying to say it * could * be an indicator. There are a lot of factors and symptoms that are related to an URI, including hearing your cham breathe/wheezing. I can only speak to what I know, and what I have experienced firsthand. You asked me if it was normal, and the only time I have heard of someone being able to hear their cham breathing is when they also had a URI so I wanted to just make you aware that this could be a possibility. Could also be totally fine and just not something I've come across or have heard about from other keepers.
Here is a great resource to learn more about URIs: chameleonacademy.com/chameleon-medical-respiratory-infection/
Here is another good resource: www.chameleonforums.com/care/health/head-neck/
So I turn my lights off at 8:30 pm, so I will leave my chameleon be at 6:30 pm. When it's 8 pm, do I just turn the lights off and he'll sleep, or wait till he closes his eyes?
Marisa Jordan Turn off the lights after they’ve been on for 12 hours. Your chameleon will go to sleep once they are off.
I probably should have just bought my son a banana chameleon
🤣 I forgot about this video!
Hey my chameleon oscar closes His eyes or sleeps when he is in dark space like when he gose to His bottom of His cage where Its dark
Hey bought a veiled chameleon but I handle him occasionally he climbs on my head but likes to be in his enclosure more I respect nd understand that nd start to understand his personality but I still like handling him is that ok
My chameleon likes to sleep at random places in his cage. Mostly he likes to sleep on anywhere on any of the branches.
Sounds normal to me!
Neptune the Chameleon
I have a Jackson so I wonder if the species also have to do with such behaviors. Or does it apply to all chameleon species?
It applies to all species.
Neptune the Chameleon
Ok. Thanks!!!
Just got a chameleon
Congrats! Be sure to check out my advice for new keepers video: ua-cam.com/video/2IESxfzFnmc/v-deo.html
Hey I just noticed my chameleon was sleeping with his eyes open... I was wondering if you happen to know what to do? It’s pretty weird and he usually never does this
How do you know they’re sleeping if their eyes are open?
@@NeptunetheChameleon I was moving my hands at him slowly and he didn’t react and it was late at night too.
@@angelatinoco7059 I think they were still awake and just not scared of you.
@@NeptunetheChameleon thank you very much!
Your videos are great. We got a very you g baby chameleon and did everything wrong. Sadly he passed after two weeks in our care. So I then did extensivel research and rebuilt the encloser and ran it (with lighting, misting, and hygrometers for two weeks before getting another one. We decided to get one that is about 4 - 5 months old. He’s been in our care for 2 months and is doing very well! We are so enthralled by him I feel like he deserves his own room lol.
So sorry to hear about your first cham :( Glad you took the time to do research and that things are going well with your second one 💚
Can you put a blue moon light in or is this not advisable?
No lights should be on for a chameleon at night.
Hi! Just had my first panther i watched all your videos everything looks perfect! Is it normal if he is already in a little ball one hour before the lights turn off? Maybe the breeder and i didnt had the same « schedule » of on and off time?
He is 3 mounts old.
Yes it's normal. Chameleons will get into their sleeping spot/position up to a few hours before lights turn off. This is why it is not recommended to handle them or feed them in the evenings because they need the time to get settled in for the night.
@@NeptunetheChameleon ok thank you!! :) for everything!
