My Chameleon isn't eating, like at all. It's been like that for a few days. I've also noticed him sneezing when handling him, usually hell only sneeze once so I don't know if that's a concern. I'd also like to mention that he really likes being handled, he rushes towards me when I open his cage and usually stays with me for 30 minutes or an hour before wanting to go back. I don't know if he should be out that long, I've had him for three months almost and this happens almost everyday. Is this a concern?
I have a video about not eating that you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/waCeIkQE1hw/v-deo.html. Between the sneezing, not eating, and wanting to come out it definitely sounds concerning. Oh no, i hope hes doing good now since your last comment posting, im a little late for your reply! Buuuut I recommend starting out with some (20 usually)crickets that come in a lil cute box at petco/petsmart or buy max 40 crickets a day and have them roam the cage, usually the little box will have cricket food or water , and within a week your Chameleon will eat them up, the crickets keep themselves alive and clean , and slowly go up on the count of crickets to your liking depending how often you want to visit your store, I'd just check the Chameleon once in awhile because crickets are carnivores, so they will clean up the cage if there are any dead bugs or cricket's as well and they could nibble your Chameleon by chance if the crickets have no good, but they will most likely go at each other first. Treat the crickets with respect like they are little pets too with food water and a mini place to hide as well and sleep. This way the Chameleon will have to hunt for their food keeping them active too. The box describes crickets as juicy morsels, I stay away from hornworms because of their sharp claws and teeth. I learned that I can keep 40 crickets and it will last me about a week or more, and the crickets are easy for him to eat, they are not combative and damaging from what I saw. I probably will use the meal worms only for to coat their calcium vitamin powder feeding once a week or so, I noticed that if I powdered the crickets they would die within the day because the powder is so sticky they will be immobile etc suffocate etc, so I only powder things that will be eating within the hour etc. Do Not poeder the crickets! Let them thrive in your cage etc unless it's like a few and they are meant to be eatin within the hour because they will not live with the sticky vitamin powder made for Chameleons to eat. I hope this helps! Find me on tiktok for more questions you have ! @bubbletron3000 , I hope he gets better
You know, I'm having a very hard time finding information on Chameleons and chlamydia I have bought a chameleon off of Facebook market. I've had him for over a week now, and I am concerned about him having chlamydia. How would I know I cannot find any information on how to tell if he does have it if he will die if he has it or if they live normal healthy lives with it.
Our friend was unable to carry for her Chameleon due to I'll health. She said he was in good health. When we collected and brought gome he looked healthy. However, he keeps falling from his branch, this happens slowly . He has a very good grip when held though and all legs legs look and feel healthy. He hasn't been seen taking a drink himself and he needs encouragement to eat. He doesn't grab his food with his tongue. He really looks healthy on the outside! We haven't got exotic animal vet near us 🤔 can they be affected by moving to new home? He seems happy. His eyes follow us and he seems comfortable. Any advice would be greatly benefitted from. Thanks
I just got a teenage veiled chameleon and I haven’t seen him eat at all in the first few days, I’ve seen him step on crickets and chill next to them but he doesn’t seem interested, outside of this he seems very happy and is his normal green and very active in not sure if I should be concerned or if he maybe isn’t interested in crickets
My chameleon has been at the top of his cage for two days now with eyes closed! 😢 He’s not eating either. His color is good, cage temps and hiding places are good. He did just go through shedding so I’m not sure if that is a cause…. ? I hope he isn’t dying. I’m not sure what to do to help him.
That's not common behavior even after shedding. Like the video mentions, I'd suggest getting your care and enclosure reviewed and consider taking your chameleon to the vet.
Hi My female veiled Chamaleon Is feeling weird today she is bearly moving and has weak grip yesterday she was starting to seem weak but she ate and was exploring but today is a completely different story idk what to do or what it is we bathe her like 3 days ago and she was ok and we fed her yesterday and she ate but she looked weak and turning into darker colors
Chameleons go downhill very quickly. I'd get her to a vet and have your care reviewed ASAP. It's also worth mentioning that baths are not recommended for chameleons.
Mine was doing absolutely terrific, but hot sick and just before 1 year anniversary of bringing him home. I had my enclosure meet every standard he needed, heat, uvb, plants to hide in, etc. But as of recently, he's seemed colder even though the temp is warm enough for him, so he's been lying on his side to heat up. He's also lost his appetite, which seems dehydrated even though he's gets a drink every hour. He's also turned a rather bright yellow and hasn't changed back. (Not his normal color) He's been sleeping most times during the day, only every moving to move somewhere else and sleep some more. He has a weak grip, as described in this video. I wish so much that he can recover on his own, I can't go to a reptile vet. The closest one is 1 hour away from me, and I can not legally drive. I don't think he may have much time before he goes, I love him to death. I wish there was something I could do more for him, but I'm quite sure I've followed the rule book, every video I could find, to the exact. I don't want to see him go. But I don't think there is much I can do without a vet that I could go to.
So sorry to hear you're going through this. I agree that what you're describing aligns to what we see in chameleons right before they pass away. I will be thinking of you and your little guy 💚
@@Withered_Folly they are extremely difficult pets, we were given a Cham he’s about 8 months old now and we had in proper lights, his good lights died and we got the only ones that the pet store had left and almost lost him😭 he’s making his way back around, doing much much better, and we are babying, spoiling, speanding loads of money on his lil green bean self, and I will lose it if we lose him. So I really do sympathize with you wholeheartedly
@@NeptunetheChameleonmy chameleon doesn’t seem to have any of these symptoms, but he sometimes is sort of leaning to the side of his branch as if he is falling off, and he falls off often? But we pick him up and he starts crawling on us all happy then goes back to his vines
My male veiled’s cask is dropping slightly… but otherwise shows no other symptoms of MBD. I’ll work on correcting my supplementation He basks frequently and I have a solar meter and his UVB is perfect, I just need to adjust his supplements
So what about a spot of discoloration on the leg, my little guy has a spot that kind of looks like Italy on his leg that ever since I got them has been a different color than the rest of his body
I can't really say without more information or being able to see what it looks like. But if it doesn't get bigger or change, then maybe it's not concerning. I would keep an eye on it.
My male veiled chameleon Rango seems to be very healthy, but the last few days he has only had one of his eyes shut. I’m not sure exactly why, he has a great appetite and seems to still be relatively happy with his normal colors and exploring his enclosure. I’m not sure if I should make an appointment with the vet or if I can do something differently. I recently discovered through one of your videos that you’re only supposed to give your chameleon the supplement with D3 in it twice a month but I’ve been using that daily with his food. I just ordered supplements without D3. Do you think after I change his supplements his eye could open back up?
Potentially. But like the video mentions, without more info on your care and chameleon it’s impossible for me to really give input on your situation. Here is my video on eye issues: ua-cam.com/video/r-wxhcP9PtM/v-deo.html
hiiiii wanted to start with i love you and your videosss also i just got a chameleon three weeks ago, he is a veiled and about 4/5 months old. he is not sick but because he is a new animal i want to take him to the vet and i have an appointment with a reptile specialist do you have any tips for getting him out of the enclosure, transportation and how to minimize their stress when doing this 🦎💚💚💚
Congrats on the new chameleon! And I have a video on tips for transporting a chameleon: ua-cam.com/video/UbDS8PrZero/v-deo.html Be sure to get a fecal test done when you go to the vet :)
I’m really scared we had to force feed my Cham atleast one mealworm. She’s about 5 months old and I’m scared that I might’ve hurt her jaw since she has a small under bite now. She’s also hasn’t been eating as much and I’m scared she might be getting sick. She’s also has a bit of a clogged nostril on the right.. I’m really nervous since she’s still young and she’s my first chameleon which makes me ten times more nervous.. 😓
My baby chameleon wheezed a couple times and I’m freaking out because this is the first time I have gotten a chameleon he hasn’t done it since I noticed it first and I have a mesh cage and didn’t spray him directly with most or anything idk if I’m over exaggerating or jot

Ever since I had my chameleon almost 3 years ago he has been holding on to his legs by accident. I took him to the vet before and always have gotten healthy results. Is it possible for him to just be silly and accidentally grab on to it?
Potentially. Like I said in the beginning just because your chameleon is doing one of these things doesn't mean it's a cause for concern. But if you notice any unusual changes from their baseline behavior, then I would start to investigate further.
I was wondering as well. Our babies typically grab their tails or other arm when they get the zoomies for the food cup or go from their jungle sticks back into their home. I just thought of it as them focusing on what I'm doing and not what they're doing, which is very likely
Ohh boy. This one is a biggie. I have commented a couple times this past month about a 5-6 year old male Vieled I took in from a neighbor who could no longer take care of him. He 100% has metabolic bone disease and falls constantly. It scares me, and I always check to make sure all his ribs and legs are in order. In the month I have had him in correct conditions, he has gotten stronger, but I worry his grip will never be what it should. I put as many twigs as I could to help him catch himself, though I am considering even putting a towel on the bottom of his cage for cushioning (I'll just have to switch it out and wash it every day or two). Also I just learned that his old owners were ONLY supplementing him with D3 calcium. Every time he ate, for four years. Thats... too much from what breeders have told me. However, he didn't have a lot of UVB that whole time so maybe it made up for that?? Not sure, I'll have to do some bloodwork for him. He is currently on antibiotics for a URI as well. So far he is an absolute trooper and super friendly. Because he is so old, and I am not exactly swimming in cash, I am just trying to make him as comfortable as possible while treating the most serious issues first. I wish I could snap my fingers and reverse 4 years of mistreatment, however that's just unsustainable (and unrealistic). So keep your fingers crossed for Jingo! His fecal tests just came back negative for anything, and he's quite hydrated!
@@NeptunetheChameleon Update! After a couple weeks of antibiotics his grip is SUPER strong and to my knowledge he hasn't fallen for a while! He looks to be in (almost) perfect health!
My chameleon had the wrong lights, and he started getting sick, we've since corrected his enclosure to the t! And he's coming back, he had no uvb, and a blue 60 watt light, we are new chameleon parents, and as soon as we noticed the change we researched and corrected everything. We are hand-feeding and giving him water, he's started going to his dropper for water and his tongue is starting to come back out, his strength is building and his eyes are alert. The only two symptoms he has in this video are the tongue and his strength isn't back for climbing yet, we are giving him supplements and doing everything correctly, my question is, is it possible for him to make a full recovery? His colors look great, his teeth and skin look healthy, we have him on two hammocks so he's up higher and can bask, and hide, and not fall as he regains his strength. He's doing so much better since we've figured out something was wrong and fixed it that day, which was about a week ago. Do you think our lil Greenbean will come full circle?
I need help! My charmeleon has been doing great until recently I noticed he hasn’t been eating lately. His eyes are sunken in, he’s looking skinnier and not eating. And he’s already fallen a couple times for some reason and I have found him in the bottom of the cage. He hasn’t fallen since, he’s only fallen twice but I’m super worried and keep telling my husband that there’s something wrong but of course guys don’t notice things like we do and he keeps saying he’s okay when I know he’s not! Plz help!
I have not had a reptile in 25-30 years. I recently took the wife and kids to a reptile swap, thought itd be neat for them. Ended up with an impulse buy of an adult veiled. I had no idea of the requirements and got the biggest enclosure they had left there which was wst too small, 24x12x24. Within a few days id went to Petco and purchased the dreaded "chameleon kit" 18x18x36. After doing more research, i.e. watching neptune and chameleon academy mostly, i ordered a zoomed 24x24x48 its not ready yet though. I redone the kit cage like 10 times the last month. Im trying to keep him as happy as i can in the smaller enclosure while i get the larger one ready. Ive got live plants, plenty of sticks and vines, a good uvb, etc. Not 100% on the bulbs, still waiting on my uvi meter. I even have a 6.5ft fake tree when im home its connected with a vine and the foor open so he can roam freely. When hes in the enclosure he tries getting out, rubbed his nose raw, and turns very, very dark. As soon as i open it he starts turning normal colors again. I wouldnt care leaving it open more, but sometimes he likes running down the tree and into the kitchen. Is the size bothering him that much, or am i missing something in there, and can i put anything on his nose to help it heal? Hes a fascinating animal, i want to keep him happy, but its been a very busy and expensive 5 weeks since i got him and getting discouraged. Lol $75 animal, 20 hours research, 40 hours on enclosure building, and $1500 on cages, lights, drippers, misters, and uvi meters. Also anyone know a good place to order a stand for a 24x24x48? I havent found anything that really fits what im looking for.

I'd suggest watching this video: ua-cam.com/video/2IESxfzFnmc/v-deo.html
My chameleon has been at the top of his cage for two days now with eyes closed! 😢
He’s not eating either.
Am I able to send you a video by chance?
Hi My female veiled Chamaleon Is feeling weird today she is bearly moving and has weak grip yesterday she was starting to seem weak but she ate and was exploring but today is a completely different story idk what to do or what it is we bathe her like 3 days ago and she was ok and we fed her yesterday and she ate but she looked weak and turning into darker colors
Chameleons go downhill very quickly. I'd get her to a vet and have your care reviewed ASAP. It's also worth mentioning that baths are not recommended for chameleons.
@@NeptunetheChameleon Thanks I will I didnt like bathe her I just spray her down every week
Yeah, if you already have a mister, or mist 3 times a day, I'm sure that the Chameleon bathes themselves with that or under their drinking dripper!
@Neptune the Chameleon I thank you. However, you were exactly right. He had passed this morning. I will always miss him.
@@Withered_Folly awwwee😢😢😢😢 I'm so very sorry for your loss
@@LalaaCherry Me too.
Thank you so mutch I got so scared his eyes wer closed. But he was moving he’s better right now
Here is my video on closed eyes: ua-cam.com/video/r-wxhcP9PtM/v-deo.html
Looked up this video because my Chameleon touched the bottom of his tank twice. He is none of the above thankfully.
Phew! It's totally normal for them to explore the bottom of their enclosure.
@@NeptunetheChameleonmy chameleon doesn’t seem to have any of these symptoms, but he sometimes is sort of leaning to the side of his branch as if he is falling off, and he falls off often? But we pick him up and he starts crawling on us all happy then goes back to his vines
What was wrong with him when you took him to the vet
My male veiled’s cask is dropping slightly… but otherwise shows no other symptoms of MBD. I’ll work on correcting my supplementation
He basks frequently and I have a solar meter and his UVB is perfect, I just need to adjust his supplements
Good luck! ☺️
In case of anything she’s a veiled chameleon, she’s also female. I got her from a previous owner
I love this lady super helpful🙌🏽🙌🏽
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video! Me and my partner got a panther chameleon and your videos were a great help to set up paradise on earth for out new pet :)
Aww I love to hear that!! Good luck with them 🥳
My baby chameleon wheezed a couple times and I’m freaking out because this is the first time I have gotten a chameleon he hasn’t done it since I noticed it first and I have a mesh cage and didn’t spray him directly with most or anything idk if I’m over exaggerating or jot
You can always take them to an exotics vet for help. You’re also welcome to book a video call with me to review your enclosure and care and help figure out what might be going on: neptunethechameleon.simplybook.me/v2/
You didn't say anything about spots. Just noticed two on one arm...
Hmm there are lots of different spots. Could be a growth, a burn, a bug bite, etc. I’d have to see it and know about you’re care to help further. You’re welcome to book a video call with me: neptunethechameleon.simplybook.me/v2/
Oh my goodness! I'll be rooting for Jingo 💚 Keep doing a great job with him.
@@NeptunetheChameleon Update! After a couple weeks of antibiotics his grip is SUPER strong and to my knowledge he hasn't fallen for a while! He looks to be in (almost) perfect health!
@@clydesdale1775 I'm so happy to hear that!!

Excellent video as always! Looks like Neptune was asking for free range time lol
Thank you! He sure was :)
Sick intro
Thank you!!
Plz help!
That sounds like a sick chameleon to me! I would get your care reviewed and take them to an experienced exotics vet ASAP!
I'm glad you're getting your new chameleon all set up! Here is the shelving unit I use: www.amazon.com/dp/B095Z4WGLL?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzclari071-20&creativeASIN=B095Z4WGLL&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.3O75E57RVWGRY&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_mixed_d_qv_asin
Thanks for the video but can you do like a video of “what bugs you should feed a chameleon and at what age you should feed them”
Both of those videos can be found in my bug video playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLBkCuo7YecLaajwdIwHWe084sO6XT7d9M.html
