Recipe is tried and true from this kitchen as well. One selling point truly is that the bird is the most moist ever. Period. The CrispLid (either the IP or Mealthy) really produces the crispy skin and browning we've all wanted from the get go. One additional point I have learned: I take the "gravy" out of the inner pot to stove finish while I broil the bird. A dry pot produces a crispier skin without burning - and in a much shorter time. Try it next time. You also can add new potatoes to the carrots and celery to cook. Then I mash 'em. To die for... Thanks as always Jeffery!

Jeff, I LOVE chicken & have been SOOO disappointed in chicken in the IP, UNTIL I tried your WHOLE roasted chicken. OMG! PERFECTION!!!!!!! It really is the most moist chicken I've ever gotten out of an instant pot. I take all the dark meat and cut it up and use that for a soup later on in the week and I take the breast meat and refrigerate it and the next day then I slice it for sandwiches and it is so so delicious! The sauce I use is one you made earlier with salt, garlic powder, paprika and some oil. When chicken is finished and I remove that liquid from the bottom I strain it and put it in the fridge and the next day it is the most fabulous gravy over that delicious chicken! (I eat all of this hot when I first cook it). Thank you SO much for this recipe. I use it regularly! I no longer have to purchase roasted chickens from the grocery store.

Dude, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I have all your books. Cooking for three kids got so much easier when you showed up! I feel better about what they’re eating and as a dad this is a little out of the comfort zone, but everything is easy and straightforward. Cleanup is a breeze and I feel like “Super Dad,” afterwards.

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

This is an awesome recipe. The ONLY thing I do differently is add 2 lemons: 1 for the juice to squeeze over the chicken before it’s cooked and one to slice into rings to put in the bottom of the pot. It is DIVINE!!!

I have an IP DUO 60 and a Healthy CrispLid. I have done several recipes with the combo where I have browned the chicken with the cooking liquid left in after cooking the chicken and with the chicken liquid out. I have found that the chicken skin comes out crispier if I drain the liquid out of the inner line first and broil the chicken in a dryer environment. I am going to do your chicken and gravy recipe (because all your dishes are so delicious) but I will drain the liquid and then put it back in and thicken after the chicken is crisped. A little extra work but still technically one pot,

The giblets are good for cutting up into a fine dice and adding to chicken based soups. Or gravy or stuffing. From my grandma ( born 1890 ) , waste not and you will have more to eat. And so it was also with the English in days of yore. A piece of beef , roasting on a spit over the fire in the fireplace always had Yorkshire puddings baking under the roast to catch the meat drippings. The very small roast had to serve the entire family ! So , the mother would say , " He wot eats the most pudding gets the most meat . "
What the heck is questrom ? I've never heard of it prior to now.

YESSSSSSSS. This vid was the first I'd heard of the new lid and I went from elated to deflated when he said it's only for 6 quart machines. I've seen some commentary that an 8-quart model might not be feasible either, due to the amount of electricity that would be required to crisp items from so many inches away in the larger pot. Here's hoping that's not the case.

I cooked it for 5 minutes per pound. The only real difference is that I trussed my chicken, and im guessing that's where my problem came from. I was doing some research on Instant Pot Air Fryer Lid and also came across the Mealthy CrispLid. Even though it's more expensive I'm leaning towards the CrispLid. It goes up to 500 deg. F (will only run for 10 mins on 450 or 500 though), it has a clear glass section around the outside of the lid so you can see in the pot, and it doesn't have the plastic webbing around the plug that will block off the other outlet. The instant pot fryer lid looks fancier but apparently also weighs about twice as much. I'm going to keep checking more reviews but the Mealthy CrispLid seems like the better choice IMO. Your chicken looked FANTASTIC though. I can't wait to try one in my Max. You have at least 10 recipes that I'll be trying in the coming weeks. Hopefully they all turn out at least close to what yours look like! ;oP

So thank you for your videos, I truly enjoy them, with that said, I do have a few questions in regards to this recipe, why didn’t you add black pepper to the seasoning you mixed with the melted butter? although its an extra step, i would personally drain the liquid after pressure cooking the chicken to another pot before air frying. You would get more browning on your chicken because you're essentially steaming it with the liquid still inside. At least this is a thing with the Ninja Foodi, i would guess its a similar effect with the IP Air Fry lid
