Just know, this guy is giving away sage wisdom about filmmaking for free. This kinda thing costs thousands of dollars if you go to film school. Give him a like!
I worship David Sandberg, but this specific 'trick' is so easily done if you know just a little about NLEs. Almost everyone can do it. No explanation needed, no film school, no ponysmasher 'guide' and no thousands of dollars. However, gave him a like for it anyway ;)
Most people are still pay-walling knowledge like we're all each other's enemies competing for the same prey out on the savanna, instead of it being the tide that lifts all boats and we each can toss in our own bucket of water. I hope we learn.
I struggle to get 100 views with no flipping off. I now understand the error of my ways. Making the rest of us better vloggers one middle finger at a time, David. Well done.
David, you're fantastic and are legitimately inspiring. My little brother loved Shazam so I showed him your videos. Now he's learning MoHo and is subscribed to your channel for all your unique wisdom. Thanks for that. :)
GAGAGAGAGAGAGA I just saw something very unpretty! I looked in the mirror! GAGAGAGAGAGAGA!! But I am the cool UA-camr with two hazardously hot girlfriends so IT is all good! Thanks for you attention dear ki
I knew there was no way you were holding your arms up flipping us off for four hours. Your arms would have been shaking more by the end. Yet, you still got me. Awesome. Glad you posted it.
I sincerely 100% appreciate that you are still humble and kicking around UA-cam trolling people and answering posts. It's very cool of you. Stay awesome.
this was actually super insightful and I love how we can learn something from a four hour video of you flipping us off and apply it to our own films! I’ll always watch your videos (At least until 2023) so keep uploading when you feel like it.
Thanks, I needed this. As I said before my confidence and self assuredness have been suspiciously high, so thank you for bringing me back down to earth in the form of someone I respect flipping me the bird.
The fact that there is an IMDB page for this is funnier than the video. I was reading the reviews this morning and when I got to the one with the "spoilers" tag I blew coffee out of my nose. Thanks for the laughs. And the nose douching. My nostrils are fresh as a daisy.
I’m sure there’s someone who watched the full 4 hours thinking there was some deep meaning behind, when it was really just you flexing your filmmaking skills. That’s why i love your work. You keep it real.
Thanks. I was wondering how you did it. I was three hours into it before I realized it MUST be an editing trick. Then I stopped, got some coffee and resumed watching it till the end. Made me realize I have a limit to how long I like to look in another man's face.
You know when I was watching you flip me off for 4 straight hours I was a big fan, but now that I know it was only 53 seconds I feel betrayed and lied to.
David, I’m an independent filmmaker and I really appreciate you making these videos. You should have your own TV series “Secrets of Cinema” or something.
Yesss... simple but such an effective technique.. so many times during an edit we comeup to a situation in which we need to extend the clip.. rather than slowing down the clip..which will infact look bad, this technique will save it. Thank u so much sir fr sharing it. i am a small aspiring filmmaker frm India..thank u fr inspiring us and teaching the filmmaking methods u use .. ❤️ frm India 🇮🇳
At first I thought there was some kind of anger or unhappy feelings associated with it but I'm glad to hear it's not a reaction to anything bad. The slowing down effect is useful. I've had to deal with takes that were perfect except for being a bit too short for the mood of the scene. Thanks for the tip!
Hey, thanks for Shazam! I didn't like it much on first viewing, but my second viewing made me LOVE it! The difference was that I watched some classic DC films like Batman '89 and Batman Forever beforehand, and your movie felt very much like it was in the same spirit as those movies. Fantastic!
With the people pointing out that the ambient sound also loops it might have been a good idea to do a full 4-hour audio take by just leaving the mic on and leaving the house for a few hours. Then blend in the intro and outro (with it being so quiet it is likely a zero-effort endeavor) and you've got "muffled sounds of things that happen outside" without getting that leafblower loop back-and-forth. An added bonus would be if you scheduled a package delivery or phone call while you were away. Imagine: _phone rings, man remains unfazed, dedicated to the sole purpose of flipping you off_ ...
Seriously, I flipped you off back for 4hrs while watching that vid and you only flipped me off for only 3 seconds!!!! I'm the fool!! Thanx for the behind these scenes!

Interesting technique i might have to try it out sometime I saw the video that 4hr video pop i thought that's so random no way i'm watching all of it . your videos are always brilliant
This is the highest rated thing on letterboxd, congratz, you surpassed Kubrick.
what an absolute masterpiece.
David is truly a genius. The UA-cam community is so lucky to have him!! ❤️
david just liked my letterboxd review of his film that took 4 seconds to write. what a legend
Took me 4 hours to read though
ponysmasher i’m sorry i took that much time out of your day, i’ll be sure to see shazam 2 twice to get those hours back to you ✌🏻
What was the review
Thank you for being one of the coolest directors.
he is
*the coolest period.
Seriously! I'm so proud of you.

love the filmmaking application by referencing a blockbuster

You sound like a literal baby Holy shit
I love your sense of humour and humbleness.
I love that he found a way to sneak in some proper filmmaking tips for even the most simple video idea
When does "I Moon You for Five Hours" come out?
A video where you do NOT want to find Easter eggs
Chris Taylor it will get too many good reviews in letterboxd, that it gets taken down once again 😔
That's for the Other Site.
You’re the coolest and most real director out there man. 👍
This video is completely useless on the surface. But he actually added something of real substance with the thing about Shazam. Good move.
With only slight wording changes, this could also serve as an excellent eulogy at his funeral.
Talk for yourself! I have just started editing and these tips are useful
This is filmmaking at its best. Pure KINO. The biggest one anyone's done since the silent era.
When's the "Ferrari unboxing" video coming out?

Thank you for this! You are a gift!
Thanks, I needed this. As I said before my confidence and self assuredness have been suspiciously high, so thank you for bringing me back down to earth in the form of someone I respect flipping me the bird.
They did that technique in starwars ep 4 with the Tusken Raider when he had the one character pined down
Thank you for making these videos. You sir are helping us amateurs tremendously. Please continue to talk about your work. Thank you.
It's great to see someone else does the reverse/forward edit to extend things! I'm always paranoid it'll be noticed but I normally get away with it 😁
David flips you off and teaches you something new about filmmaking. How nice of him.
You talk about it so cordially and professionally.
I legitimately learned from this and I use the rock and roll effect when I need to prolong a shot
Will there be an extended director’s cut coming out soon?
Love your UA-cam videos and your movies. Keep doing what you're doing, man.
Once again another example of why David F Sandberg is one of my favourite directors working today. Absolute GOAT.
The fact that there is an IMDB page for this is funnier than the video. I was reading the reviews this morning and when I got to the one with the "spoilers" tag I blew coffee out of my nose. Thanks for the laughs. And the nose douching. My nostrils are fresh as a daisy.

Such innovative efficiency requires a round of applause - Bravo!
It feels good that such a good director is making youtube videos and making us know good things in the industry!
You might be the best filmmaker on UA-cam -- An instant classic!
Hahaha this made me laugh so hard. So ridiculous but you still found a way to make your 4 hours long flipping off video educational. 😂👌🏼
Bro, I actually watched your whole movie and I just wanna say that it’s my favorite film released in the 2020s so far
Love your stuff man, Thank you for the info and help.

If there was certification for "genius'" in the real world, you'd probably have one by now
When I commented "waiting for the making of" on the original, I didn't actually expect there would be one. Bravo.
I'm so glad I sticked to this channel since Lights Out aksdaiodjaio it's been so many years but you're still so awesome
That video you made as a kid is really clever. It just shows that you were creative and learning about making videos since young age
This is why I stayed subscribed. Can't wait for the sequel.

Same technique was used in the original Star Wars to make the Tusken Raider shake his staff up and down. ;)
I will never understand why this man doesn't make every movie... :)
This is the type of quality content we don't want but we deserve
Absolute art! just like Piero Manzoni. Genius.
Not only is there a simple making of for it, but it has a practical tie-in for moviemaking.

This is an interesting tip on how to improve or save a shot. The fake tilt is a good idea. I guess the VFX guys also altered the speed slightly.
