He said people weren't going to have their minds blown but he definitely blew my mind haha. Your good at being subtle and you subtly just made everyone else feel like they suck haha but in all seriousness thanks for this motivation to level up my editing game.
I watch a lot of camera and editing related content and very rarely as a result do I now come across any hints, tips and tricks that I haven’t already heard and seen before. However in the past 12 minutes I’ve just picked up more learnings than I have in probably the last 3 years. Stuff like this is golden, and is more valuable to people than you’re probably aware of. Already implemented the prism thing in a job today, (always previously tried creating similar effect with masks, layers and gaussian blur, but could never quite nail the desired result. Tried this today, half the workflow, twice the gains. A very sincere THANK-YOU!!!
This may not be ground breaking, but as someone starting out on the editing journey the final before and after cuts made me actually say WOW. Video editing is truly an artform.
As a filmmaker myself, I get discouraged by the prices of all the equipment... however I love how Daniel makes commercials in his house with a very very minimal budget! This motivates me to keep going!
im sorry you started this video off with saying that this is all basic stuck, but you just made 90% of videographers better, I never knew anything about zoom, and rotation lol dang this is amazing

Over the years I have come to appreciate how DS remains so true to the craft of filmmaking. Not only is he bonkers talented, but he also uses simple enhancements to clarify his footage and stand apart. Such great work, and particularly thankful that you share your insights with us. I know that you have personally impacted our young, up-and-coming YT channel. Thanks Daniel!
That's the point, right? Basic operations used by a master will always result in stunning visuals, while noobs will think they need 10bit 422 before they can start creating anything.

This tutorial/video was super helpful, especially in regards to the horizon line! I use FCPX myself and didn’t even know I could bring that line up 😂 Just want to say you inspire the fuck out of me and I’ve learned more than half of what I know about cinematography from your channel. Coming from skateboarding to this art form, there is something about just falling in love with the process and creating your own style along the way that really shines through in your channel. I learned few new things too, that animation panel showing linear and smooth. Didnt know it exists. Thank u, I subbed for sure. Also, Do u have tutorial on gradient (linear or circular) shading/color grading similar to a vignette to make certain parts of the image pop more? The middle part of the clip where it goes off the center a bit looked more fluid and realistic to me, I wouldn't change that. But that's just me, I feel that being perfectly in the center the whole time gives that omniscient camera look from Fincher that I'm not particularly a fan.
Probably one of the best tutorials I have found on video editing. Lots of great tips in here. I would have never thought to shoot a shorter clip at 120fps and then slow it down. Also leveling the horizon line & Adding sharpening to certain points. All great tips! Thank you.
