“A good video without transitions is still a good video, & a bad video with transitions is still a a bad video” pure gold here bro. Thank you for saying this, huge misconceptions out there atm.
A lot of people seem to think that the main thing their work is missing is transitions, when in reality it’s probably filmmaking and storytelling basics that need improving!
I think that a bad video with transitions is even worse. People try to hide the fact that the video is bad with transitions to make it look cooler, when it totally does the opposite
@@michaelfrymus Can't agree more with this bro. Actually improper use of transitions will only make video look disgusting/worse. Many great moviemakers rarely use transitions but their stories are soul-touching.
Want to take time out to thank you so much for all the selfless ideas you gave the world that changed the game people still using these transitions you came up with. Most people selfish and don’t share their ideas being cheeky… thanks Jesse your a wonderful person
I watched this a year ago and didn't understand this video that much and now after a year working whole year with Camera and stuffs then I watch this video and find this video like one of a kind which I don't think anyone has ever made.
Thank you! Finally someone shows the step by step break down of their movements. You are officially underrated. Peter doesn't even do this. More of this. It's gold.
Nice tutorial! He also used an 'in camera transition' with the use of sound. He uses J and L cuts to smooth out the hard cut transitions. For example: at 16:03 we already hear him talking for the next shot and we see the next clip a second later. This technique helps to smooth out conversations. Look it up on YT for more explanation.
can we take a moment and aprecciate the insanely good story telling in this video by slowly building the Broll while explainig it and always transitioning from the current end of the broll back to the explaining part absolutely seemless. just wow
There's so much to love about this video. 😍 The advice is brilliant and the humour was great! I really enjoyed how you integrated the behind-the-scenes with the finished product & the side-by-sides. That takes careful planning and it really paid off. But my favourite part was 1:18-1:51. That is some terrific advice. Well said. One pedantic thing I figured I'd point out, however, since I'm the nerd of these parts is that you can't "dolly to the right". You truck to the right and left, and dolly forward and backward. Heh. 😜 Seriously, Jesse, this video was outstanding. It was drastly. 👍👏👌
So im new to the game and editing is my greatest weakness “for now” so I figured out the camera transition by myself , and now you are talking about it , I’ve never been more proud of myself ❤️❤️
Wait, what!!? Someone is actually sharing information on Final Cut Pro edits!!??? This helps tremendously!! I had no idea I could double click to change the speed ramp in/out points! So many headaches will now be avoided, thank you so much!
Mr.Sanko woooahhh relax haha I was just making a joke! It is true though, I’m less likely to do a thing if it doesn’t feel like it was my own idea. It’s actually a character flaw of mine, ask my wife lol.
Thank you SO much for making this tutorial. I'm fairly new to the in camera transitions world and you've motivated me to step up my game and experiment more. And learn more about the Final Cut editing capabilities. Mind blown!
Totally agree the point of a transition is to hide the edit. It helps the viewer focus on the story and not the process of film making itself. However, I do think a transition can be cinematic in the sense that you can compare or contrast two like or unlike subject matters.
Thank you so much, for such a informative video! You did a absolute excellent job in explaining your transition technic ✨👍 Don't understand even one dislike ❤️
Jesse, Glad UA-cam browse page brought me to your channel. I have a travel and food channel and believe me with the things I was struggling you just answered them all in in like 15 mins. This is the first video I have watched, I feel confident that I'll learn a lot from your channel. You've earned a FAN. Gauss
so I am 2 minutes in and I am already in love with your wit and style of editing, etc, compliments etc well done, holy shit, well done. please keep it up, slight of--nope, misdirection
So for some reason I haven't been subscribed to you before - which is odd because I usually gorge myself on videos between you, Chris, Matti, and Peter - so now I'm getting served all your old videos and I genuinely laughed out loud through this entire sequence. Keep being you man - great content, great camera presence, great laughs.
unfortunately only just came across this for the first time. Something that works for me with what you said about going too fast and going past your subject. So if you transition from let's say 0% to 45% usually if you stand yourself at 22.5% angle give or take and you make sure your 45% turn is also the max you can turn you can't really skip past your subject without having to turn your lower body along.
Holy....woaw. This video was amazing, thank you so much for all the incredible info! I have no idea how I'm ever going to include this in my type of content, but ima try, because that was energising to watch, haha. :) Might need to get myself some better editing software too..hm...🤔
I made UA-cam videos thinking I just wanted to be another UA-camr but honestly today I was just sitting in my room thinking how film production is really what I want to captivate and produce. From all my videos I can say the one I shined the most and let my creativity fly was “A day in the life of a celebrity” mind you I didn’t major in film nor did I ever think it would interest me but it really does !!...
I really enjoyed this video. I rarely watch videos which are longer than 5-8 mins. When doing edits like this, you really need a good edit computer that can chew thru 4K easily with multi-layers etc. How many of you agree that a slow and freezing up machine can kill your creativity. You add a filter and the system start huffing n puffing and your creativity goes thru the window when your waiting.
I agree completely, it’s tough to keep going when the computer can’t keep up. It’s also why I almost only ever shoot 1080p in the smallest codec the EOS R offers lol.
