Still one of the absolute best line ups of Rock and Rollers in History. 500 years from now when someone asks 'What is a Rock band'? you could do no better then answer with the original FOGHAT. Jus' sayin'
@7:04 "I believe, I believe my time ain't long. ..." Damn it, Lonesome Dave. I admire the genuine peace and happiness you exuded in this classic blues song performance. That’s all that matters. Thank you for Foghat and Savoy Brown. 😊
@@zone4garlicfarm It doesn't have to be, it was live, and anything can happen live. In case you didn't notice, Lonesome Dave is looking pretty tired. That's because his life was ending due to cancer. Rest In Peace Lonesome Dave, we miss you, and thanks for the music. ps, not calling you out. I just grew up with these guys and they meant a lot, and still do. Rock on!
This is by far the best performance of this song by a Foghat lead and slide guitarist, featuring Bryan Bassett. Sorry but he far outpaced Rod Price and Erik Cartwright on this one.
I got to see them once long ago they had the bass player from Molly hatchet and they almost blew the Florida theater in Gainesville to pieces that night,it was an awesome show! I've seen many of the best guitar players live so I know just how amazing these two were

@John Rapp Lonesome Dave had just gone through months of cancer treatments and still went on tour. He died a few short months later. A fighter and rocker to the end. He and the rest of the band had one hell of a career. I challenge you to do the same, and will as much class.

Ahh, Foghat...summer of 73 Fayetteville jam and they come on with Road Fever and I Just Want To Make To You, Dave and Rod resplendent in their white suits, Tony and Roger just driving the best straight ahead rock n roll band in the world for a while there. By the time they encored with Maybelline I was screaming from the light tower in sheer delight. The headliner was Santana. Carlos and the band were amazing, but Foghat stole the show from everybody that day, and many others. Viva Foghat!
Mark Hazell, your comment makes me imagine Robert Johnson taking Foghat's great performance as a huge honour and an honest, respectful compliment .....🌌
Sad, Dave looked so sick here. Band had some hard luck. Dave and Rod passed away and now one of their former bass players Jeff Howell passed last week. I had the privilege of playing in a band with Jeff for 2 years 20 years ago. We used to cover a lot of Foghat and Savoy Brown stuff. I played slide decent so Jeff liked having me in the band. He always used to say you'd make Rod Price smile with that solo. I doubt it, as I saw Rod and Dave in the late 70;s and early 80's. They were a force on guitars.
Got me through my time in the service, 71 years old and still rocking to the band, new lingerie band will never stand up to Dave, Rod and the rest, time to let sleeping dogs lie, RIP boys 😢😊
Rod was my neighbor here in NH. No one knew who he was and he was grateful for that! Attended all his kids soccer games and never called attention to his fame. RIP to one of the best

This was one of the best shows that I ever got to attend, I worked at UofHouston abouty 2 or 3 miles from this place and I would dash down there after work, by the time I got to this one there were SO many people there and didn't get my usual spot up close to the stage, but it was fantastic from where ever you got to see it from. Because all I really had was the radio, I never thought any of their other songs were worthy to spend my money on…..well, it took me 40 years, but I finally arrived, a little late, but here nevertheless. Erik was a fine addition to the band. They may not have had any big chart success but the three albums they put out together were outstanding. Not boogie, but a little 50s style, r&b, and new wave influence. The fact is , their rightful time had passed before Rod left because mass music tastes had shifted. And let's not forget it was lonesome Dave that pushed the band toward the different styles. Alot like Robert Plant,he was restless with his band's formula and wanted to go back to his earliest influences.
They reformed with the original members for something like 6 years in the 90s, playing their bluesiest songs again, after Stevie Ray Vaughn, and George Thorogood, woke up another generation, to the blues.
