Rod was my neighbor here in NH. No one knew who he was and he was grateful for that! Attended all his kids soccer games and never called attention to his fame. RIP to one of the best
@7:04 "I believe, I believe my time ain't long. ..." Damn it, Lonesome Dave. I admire the genuine peace and happiness you exuded in this classic blues song performance. That’s all that matters. Thank you for Foghat and Savoy Brown. 😊
Still one of the absolute best line ups of Rock and Rollers in History. 500 years from now when someone asks 'What is a Rock band'? you could do no better then answer with the original FOGHAT. Jus' sayin'
I got to see them once long ago they had the bass player from Molly hatchet and they almost blew the Florida theater in Gainesville to pieces that night,it was an awesome show! I've seen many of the best guitar players live so I know just how amazing these two were
@@zone4garlicfarm It doesn't have to be, it was live, and anything can happen live. In case you didn't notice, Lonesome Dave is looking pretty tired. That's because his life was ending due to cancer. He died in February of 2000, 5 short months later, just 56 years young. So, all in all, not bad for guy who just went through months of horrendous cancer treatments. Yes, he went on the road to give it his all, fighting the whole way. You may just want to cut him a little slack. I challenge someone half his age and in better shape to do as good. Rest In Peace Lonesome Dave, we miss you, and thanks for the music. ps, not calling you out. I just grew up with these guys and they meant a lot, and still do. Rock on!
This is by far the best performance of this song by a Foghat lead and slide guitarist, featuring Bryan Bassett. Sorry but he far outpaced Rod Price and Erik Cartwright on this one.
@John Rapp Lonesome Dave had just gone through months of cancer treatments and still went on tour. He died a few short months later. A fighter and rocker to the end. He and the rest of the band had one hell of a career. I challenge you to do the same, and will as much class.
For just plain the best listening music... nothing beats these boys. What an awesome lineup. Love even the obscure corners of their catalogue. Live forever.
The R & R "Hall of Fame" is a big joke. So many incredible bands are completely ignored, & a lot of these never saw any serious air play. Many of the bands that have been inducted are not even rock & roll bands. A lot of the Hall inductees do seem to be more diversity-inclusive nominees rather than actually real rock & rollers. A lot of them do not even consider themselves rockers, & fall under a whole different genre of music. Foghat was a band that excelled playing in front of live audiences. I was blessed getting to see them in 1975 & two times in the 1990's. May Lonesome Dave & Rod Price both RIP.
Foghat was as badass a boogie band that has ever been!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...and, Dave rocked to the end.....makes my heart hurt to think about him passing...
Absolutely crazy! Even through his illness he was still rocking and sounding fantastic!! Still had to drive, still had the voice, and still had the guitar riffs going 100% Lonesome Dave will always be one of everyones favorite frontman of all time!
Man this is hard for me to see Lonesome Dave like this god rest his soul 😔🙏 Saw them in the 70’s so many times just a mountain of talent,. I had the pleasure of playing a club gig with Savoy Brown in a support role in the 90’s ❤️🥁
That deep deep feeling you get when its new years eve in Chicago and its heavily snowing at 3am and your walking down a dark alley by yourself drinking a bottle and smoking a joint stranded somewhere.... powerful powerful feelings.....mystical old city.....
Mark Hazell, your comment makes me imagine Robert Johnson taking Foghat's great performance as a huge honour and an honest, respectful compliment .....🌌
Ahh, Foghat...summer of 73 Fayetteville jam and they come on with Road Fever and I Just Want To Make To You, Dave and Rod resplendent in their white suits, Tony and Roger just driving the best straight ahead rock n roll band in the world for a while there. By the time they encored with Maybelline I was screaming from the light tower in sheer delight. The headliner was Santana. Carlos and the band were amazing, but Foghat stole the show from everybody that day, and many others. Viva Foghat!
Got me through my time in the service, 71 years old and still rocking to the band, new lingerie band will never stand up to Dave, Rod and the rest, time to let sleeping dogs lie, RIP boys 😢😊
Sad, Dave looked so sick here. Band had some hard luck. Dave and Rod passed away and now one of their former bass players Jeff Howell passed last week. I had the privilege of playing in a band with Jeff for 2 years 20 years ago. We used to cover a lot of Foghat and Savoy Brown stuff. I played slide decent so Jeff liked having me in the band. He always used to say you'd make Rod Price smile with that solo. I doubt it, as I saw Rod and Dave in the late 70;s and early 80's. They were a force on guitars.
This was one of the best shows that I ever got to attend, I worked at UofHouston abouty 2 or 3 miles from this place and I would dash down there after work, by the time I got to this one there were SO many people there and didn't get my usual spot up close to the stage, but it was fantastic from where ever you got to see it from. Dave had on his bright yellow suit and he had dropped the coat by the time they go to this song. YOu can dig around on youtube and you'll eventually find the whole show, great memories of when I lived in Houston.
My absolute favourite rendition of this song. When 3 guitars do all the talkin and the fingers do the walkin …….RIP Lonesome Dave and Rod The Bottle ❤️❤️🎶🎶💯💯
I'm so glad I found this version. Tears in my eyes as I type this. Showmen and great performers. Dave did a great job and he was sooooo sick. God Bless Him. Rod Price followed 5 years later. So sad.

@Grover Baker Me too. I saw Savoy Brown in Chicago as backup to Deep Purple. A few years later I saw Foghat at the Aragon Ballroom with Montrose and Black Oak Arkansas. They both still sound great.
I just turned 60 on 20 nov 23. Growing up, I only knew of 3 Foghat songs, Slow Ride, Fool for the City and I just want to make love to you. Because all I really had was the radio, I never thought any of their other songs were worthy to spend my money on…..well, it took me 40 years, but I finally arrived, a little late, but here nevertheless. I have really been missing out. I know a lot of people think that Duane Allmam was the best slide player, but I think Rod earned that title.
I saw Foghat in Asbury Park NJ in the early 70s. Some young girls came up to their limo and asked if they were a rock band. Dave said, "Yes, we are Sly and the Family Stone".
Foghat was my first headliner concert. Colosseum Houston, TX March 1978. BTO and Judas Priest opened. Ticket was $7.50. Lonesome Dave to the end. We chose them over others. This back when groups were touring, Foghat had a blues to their rock. Your either a Foghat Fan, or others.
Well hand me down my Foghat & walking cane!!!! How FABULOUS is this??? These guys are just rockin' playin' their arses off!!!
