Delicious Moist and Chewy Banana Bread Recipe

- There's banana and then there's THE banana bread. This recipe makes the most chewy and moist bread that it's almost like cake. The addition of turbinado sugar to the pan creates a crunchy caramel like crust that is irresistible. Turn this bread into a dessert by simply adding toppings such as vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, candied walnuts and a pinch of sea salt!
Dry Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup turbinado sugar
Wet Ingredients
3 ripe bananas
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 eggs, room temperature
1. Preheat oven to 350 F
2. To a large mixing bowl add, 1 1/3 cups all purpose flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 2/3 cups white sugar, 3/4 tsp kosher salt, 1 tsp cinnamon
3. Combine and set aside
4. To another mixing bowl, add 3 very ripe bananas and mash well with a fork (consistency almost like a paste with small lumps)
5. Add 5 tablespoons softened and unsalted butter and 2 room temperature eggs
6. Combine with a fork, mashing up the butter as you go
7. Combine wet and dry ingredients together and mix well with a spatula
8. To a greased loaf pan, pat turbinado sugar on all sides liberally
9. Pour batter into pan
10. Shake to distribute evenly and pat on counter to remove any air bubbles
11. Bake for 40-50 min (test with a toothpick around 40 min and if comes out cleanly, remove)
12. Let cool on a wire rack

Lol so true 😩

I made it right now it’s in the oven I’m hopeing it works ! Ima toon in ones it’s done :)
Every time I make Banana bread I come to this video I hope u never take it down
Me too. It,s fool proof
Same!! I’ve been making it for 7 years now 😅 i have some over ripe bananas and went back to make it again lol
No talking and just straight cooking👏🏽
please don’t ever take this down, this has been my go-to banana bread recipe for two years it’s literally perfect (╹◡╹)♡
Same!
Likewiseeee. Came here to say the same thing. I got so worried when i couldn't find it at first.
I just made this. I used brown sugar instead of white. I also added 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. Delicious.
It totally works with white sugar too and yessss to the chocolate chips - great improvisation! You are awesome!
Oh good to know! I was wondering about using brown sugar but I was afraid it would add too much moisture to my batter. Last time I tried it my batter didn’t rise.
Did you use not as ripe bananas or do anything different from this recipe. Just want to make sure I nail it next time. Thanks!
How to cook fried in the oil
@@mea333unique
Did you use self raising flour? When using plain white flour, you have to add the bicarbonate soda (baking powder) as well, in order for it to rise.
I don’t know how I don’t have this recipe memorized yet haha been using it for years and still obsessed with it! Comes out perfect every time
Good grief...thought it was over and then she hit me with the ice cream. Then the Carmel. THEN THE CANDIED WALNUTS. THEN THE MALDON SALT FLAKES GOOOODNESSSS!!!!
😂😂😂😍😍😍
My thoughts exactly, when she sprinkled the Maldon salt flakes I knew that by the end of today, I'll making a second one!
Why not be indulgent?! I absolutely love your comment so much. I’m so happy you liked this video. ❤️
I'm telling you those last 3 steps absolutely floored me....🤣 off to the shops I go....when I made it last time....my mum ate 85% of it...🤦🏿...❤
@@Clearwater3 (I imagine you sprinting to the store! 😂). This banana bread doesn’t last but a few hours in my house! So glad you enjoy it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Finally a recipe without using any electric appliances! I love it!! Short and simple 😍
Made this and it was delicious! Just a tip; it would make it much easier if you could add the measurements and directions in the description box. I had to keep rewatching and pausing the video to get the measurements
That's a great suggestion and will definitely take your awesome suggestion! Want to make it as easy as possible for you all!
Sammi Conley hi! can i have the recipe? :)
Sammi Conley Agree, awesome recipe but we need the recipe details in the description box.
It's there now - check it out! :)
Sammi Conley also if you put measurements in grams, that will be very helpful
Hello. I just wanted to say that it’s currently 3am where I am right now and I am making banana bread but I forget to turn on the timer so I ended up panicking and running to the oven like an hour later and the bread was burnt and a piece of the foil was on fire. I reached into the oven (forgetting to put on over mits) and just burned my hand and I screamed so loud and now my entire house is awake and they don’t understand what compelled me to make banana bread at 3am and honestly I don’t either.
So how’s your day been so far?
oh. you good?
What lmaoooooo
Ayo bro what?
Hope you’re better now but I’m good just making brownies 😂
Ok note to self remember the timer and don’t make banana bread at 3am
Thank you for sharing. Cooking vids with no commentary are the best.
Thanks so much Emma! I like to keep it really simple. Stay tuned for more videos -- will be posting a LOT more in the next week.
absolutely agreed
Cooking with Mia, you have the best cooking videos for that! ❤️ I find it annoying when you have to watch a 10-20 minute cooking video full of talking 😭
My favourite foolproof no-frills banana bread recipe! Even when I feel I've messed up cos I'm rushing or accidentally used too much flour, it always turns out beautifully. Plus I love how it always has a beautiful crust (i don't like flat top banana bread) with its crunchy peaks ☺ love you forever for sharing this recipe!
ive made this recipe 5 times now within a month, and my family eats it within 30 minutes. Its soooo good and not overly sweet, unlike the other recipes that pour like 2 cups of sugar. I recommend substituting white sugar with brown for a richer flavour, and i usually sub a bit of the flour with oats instead, and i put in like a cup of walnuts. honestly so damn good
Soooo i don't usually leave reviews but i made these last night and by this morning i got so much good feedback from my family.... both my side n my husband's 🤗🤗 everyone suggested i should sell etc. These reviews were accurate af! This is the best banana bread recipe ever!!! Everyone said it isn't dry but it isn't too moist it's the best!! Im subscribing😁😁
The title says it all. It really is the best moist and chewy banana bread. I refer to it every time I bake my banana bread and every time it turns out perfect. A big big thank you for a foolproof recipe!!! 👏
I really am so happy to read this! Thank you so much for following me and for using this recipe. It's one of my go to recipes and definitely a crowd pleaser!
My first banana bread was in 2018 using this recipe. It's 2022 and ive made a total of 3 banana breads (I don't eat pastries or sweets often)...and all of them have been using this recipe. No appliances, no weird ingredients, no a twist of this and a twat of that. Just simple, moist, and delicious banana bread.
Best banana bread recipe I have ever tried
Baking this again for the nth time just because I over ripe my bananas hihi.
For those who havent tried this yet or still searching for the best banana bread recipe - THIS IS IT! Been baking this since the year Mia uploaded it and still not failed my taste buds.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I did this recipe. The best banana bread I’ve made so far. It is delicious! 🤤
Absolutely the best BB recipe I have ever made! You can pimp it up for extra goodness, like adding walnuts and soaked gogi berries for example. Rather than line the pan with sugar, I use baking paper. But you can mix chopped pecans, mexican piloncillo brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it on top before baking for a delicious crumbly top (but keep an eye on it and lay some foil loosely over the top for the remainder of the bake if it looks too brown) OH! ...and a 1/4 cup of sour cream or thick yogurt into the wet ingredients makes it extra moist! Cheers Mia, you are awesome!!
Wow this loaf looks great! I love banana bread
This recipe is amazing! Great for beginners! ❤️
The bread was already good but with the ice cream, candied walnuts, warm caramel and salt 😋 😋 made it extremely goooooood 😋 yum!!
Just made this (never made banana bread before) and it came out amazing!!!
Hi for all the people out there looking for the best banana bread recipe this is a must try perfect moist banana bread thank you for the recipe my family love it!

I love that you put your own spin on it by adding the chocolate chips - I bet that tasted GREAT! Thanks so much for coming back to this recipe, it sure is a crowd pleasure and it sounds like it is for you too! :)
Ct Pham I added chocolate chips after reading your comment. This was very simple and fast!!!

Thank you! I followed this recipe and my banana bread came out amazing! I swear it’s so hard to find easy recipes like these ✨
This is now my go to banana bread recipe. Everyone loves it. Thanks!
This recipe is so aesthetically pleasing and it works out amazing and everything on the list is somewhere in the kitchen and it melted in my mouth so tasty 😋 tip:don’t put to many walnuts or nuts it won’t cut smooth and it will break in chunks - learned that the hard way but over all it was delicious ☺️
I tried your recipe today and this was a hit. Thank you
I tried this recipe but as cupcakes. I used self-raising flour and put my oven on 160C only and baked for 18-20 minutes. It was a success! Soft and moist! Thank u for the recipe😊
Made this last night and it turned out amazing!! I added walnuts and raisins. Thanks for the recipe!
Way to serve up a delicious dessert!
This recipe is so simple and easy to make! I literally just finish making this and shared it with my family. It smelled so good and it tasted super delicious! They all loved it! Thank you sooo much for this recipe!
Also added one teaspoon of vanilla abstract and used brown sugar instead. Perfff perff perf!
Oh and one more thing, this banana bread recipe does not rise as high as you would think, but it doesn't make it any less delicious. Just make double the amount and bake a second batch. (;
Wow thank you soooo much! I love how you improvised and made this your own. I'm sure this won't be the last time you make this.
This is my go to banana bread recipe. Turns out good every time! Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe
I just cooked this bread for breakfast , it is really really good ! Totally recommend it , I just changed the recipe a bit , I used coconut oil instead of butter ( didn’t have butter ) , 1 3/4 cups of flour ( my mix was too liquid ) , 3/4 cups caster sugar , 4 bananas , 1 tsp baking soda (
I didn’t have baking powder ) . Now that I write it it seems like another recipe , but I followed the original and I had to do it with what I had , so I guess the original tastes so much better , and I added pecans , yummy 😋
Tried it. And its really good. Thank you for sharing. I used over ripped bananas and it was even better
Overipe bananas are the absolute best! Thanks so much for giving it a try and I am sooooooo happy you enjoyed it!
Made this today. So simple yet so yummy! I added 1 tsp of vanilla extract. It was a hit. I am planning to make another one with chocolate chips soon. I read all these comments, made me want to experiment most of the suggestions here. Glad I found your recipe. Thank you, thank you from our home to yours 😇
Eni, this is one of the most lovely comments. Thank you so much! I love that you are adding your own spin on it! Keep on cooking and baking!
Out of all the banana bread recipes here in UA-cam this is the BEST! I’ve tried the other recipes and I always keeps coming back to your version. Although I lessen the sugar since I do used a super ripe banana. This recipe is very simple and most of the ingredients are available in everyone’s pantry. Just a tip, try to use a super ripe banana, it does give a little sweetness but in natural way and make sure not to over bake it. My banana bread doesn’t last a day in my house. Thanks Mia!
I love this video short, precise measurements to the point..easy to follow...thank you.
I tried this twice already and both succeeded and so so good so moist! I used palm Sugar for the second time. Thx for the recipe 😊
Thank you so much for giving it a try! Glad it worked out!
Used these measurements, guessed the salt amount.
buttered my pan floured it and brown sugared the bottom.
Dropped some vanilla extract in my finished mixture with some crushed walnuts
And MY what beautiful light crisp edges and chewy, moist and soft bread 😩😭
Btw my butter wasn’t melted I used half a stick and it was just thawed enough to smash without struggle, then cut another small piece of butter about a tablespoon, melted it in my measuring cup, hung in my pot of boiling water while I was boiling potatoes.
Might’ve been helpful in my amazing results
🤷🏻♀️ try it 🙃
Mahalo keakua 🌺
I just made it.... And Omg... So so good. Thank you for sharing it!
Thank you for the recipe,it’s delicious!Tasty!Sooooooooo good!
THIS IS THE BEST RECIPE EVERRRRRRRRRR , THANK U SO MUCH :)

I made it yesterday and it turn out to be soooo good. my husband loved it 😍 thank you
This is the second I baked this delicious bread. Thank you very much. It's sooooo moist
I love hearing that people revisit this recipe again and again! I am so happy to read this. Thank you so much
Cooking with Mia, hi Mia I'm trying to make your banana recipe but I have one question what is the thing you put on the baking pan??
Hi Jasmin! Are you asking what I am putting inside the baking pan? If so, I rub unsalted butter all over the inside of the pan then pat raw turbinado sugar (it's a very coarse sugar) all over the butter. Hope I am answering your question. Please let know!
Cooking with Mia , yes you did answer my question. Could I use all purpose flour instead if I do not have some of the course sugar?
Coarse
I made this for my mother in law and she loves so much.. thank you Mia. love from istanbul
That is so wonderful to hear! Thank you so much for trying it and I'm so happy that it turned out well! BTW, I love Istanbul!
I hope you never take this video down! Best recipe ever!!!
I’ve made this banana bread twice now and it’s amazing, by far the best banana bread I’ve ever made, the only thing I did different was add a half teaspoon of vanilla to the wet mix. Thanks so much for this recipe. Always use a good unbleached all purpose flour in this and it will come out great.
Great job!
I just tried it today and DAYUM that was good!!
Isn't it yummy!? Thank you SO much for giving it a try!!!! Hope you can make it again!!
hands down, the best banana bread recipe i have made! i love the sugar idea on the edges of the bread, came out so crunchy! loved it, thanks for sharing
I baked banana bread using this recipe for 4 times now and it’s amazing as always, I added 1/3 walnut and 1/3 choco chips. It tasted better than Starbucks’ banana choco muffin! Whoever read this should try it out! Cheers
1/3 cup? Or 1/3 tablespoon?
That is such a lovely comment. Thank you! Xoxo
@@zaynabafzal1982 1/3 cup, it's just enough for me :D
Followed the recipe - very simple and quick! The banana bread was delicious! Very soft on the inside! Everyone loved it!

this is thew best banana bread ever thank you
I love this recipe so much! I just don't add the cinnamon- since I actually hate it, and sometimes I like to add some chopped walnuts. It's amazing. Thanks for this recipe.
made it today and my family loved it.. thanks for the recipe
Excellent! I am so happy - this recipe is a big favorite for our family too!
Followed this recipe and it was over in 14 hours ! So good my mum told me I could open a bakery 😂

oh and my whole family love it and I m so small to try this but I tried and it's just amazing
So wonderful! I hope you can inspire others to make this recipe. Be sure to try out my other recipes too - I promise they are just as easy & delicious! Thank you again!
This banana bread was amazing. I added oats and whole wheat flour for to make bit healthier. And I will definitely use this recipe again
Thank you so much Maya!!!!! I love that you made it healthier by adding the oats and subbing the whole wheat flour! Wonderful!!!!!!
Have to say thank you, ur recipe is what I have been using to make my banana bread. Has been a hit ever since.
I made it yesterday and loved it was so good 🤤
wow...this looks DELICIOUS. once I get bananas I will definitely do this. unfortunately I don't have that that type of sugar. but maybe it will taste as good! thanks for the recipe! also, this is my first time seeing your video and you keep it so simple I want to watch another one!!! keep up the good work!!!
You really don’t need turbanido sugar, it works just the same with regular sugar… I mix in cinnamon powder with the sugar then put it around the pan and it works just fine… no complaints yet!
First time i made banana bread and it taste good my kids loved it.. thank you for sharing your recipe😊😉
Thanks for your simple recipe. FYI, I added little lemon juice with brown sugar 🍋 with pure vanilla and also some chop carrots 🥕 blue berries, chop almonds. And top it off with oatmeal on top. Thank you for letting me post comment. 😎
Great tip!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the recipe! The video is very helpful. I just made this for my family, and they love it. Xoxo!
That looks bomb!!!
It tastes even better! Give it a try! :)
Cooking with Mia, lol I did... it soooooo good... made my wife angry because it didn't stick to the pan like her brownies do 😎😋.. thank you Mia!!!
I hate to laugh (bc of your wife), but I'm so glad to hear this turned out for you! Because of the sugar + butter at the bottom, it creates a crusty caramel that makes it so easy to lift out of the pan. Hopefully when she tasted it, her spirits turned around! :)
Cooking with Mia sure does... Thanks Mia...

Currently in the oven. So excited to eat it. hehe
You are awesome! I bet your house smelled yummy :) How did it turn out?
Cooking with Mia It came out perfectly and was so easy for a horrible baker like me! Thanks again!
Easy peasy, huh? I love making videos that are simple and easy to follow. My videos started from friends of mine wanting to learn out to cook and make some of the things they have tried at my house. Your testament makes me so happy!!!!!!! Keep on baking, you're awesome!
Today's mother's day over here and I made this quickly for lunch. My mom loved it! I added dried cranberries and pecans. Thanks for the recipe ❤
What a creative addition! I bet it tasted spectacular!!!! Thanks for trying it out and adding your creative spin on it!
Amongst the numerous banana bread recipes on YT, yours is one of the tops!!! 👌
Wow, thank you! That is so so sweet ❤❤❤❤ makes my heart full to read this.
The best recipe I've tried so far! Thanks in a million!😊 Can this recipe work with another fruit/flavour?
WOW - this is such an amazing compliment - thank you so much! Next time you could try adding walnuts or chocolate chips to the banana bread. Or you could try substituting the bananas for applesauce to make a delicious apple bread. Sometimes I like to replace the vanilla extract for almond extract which gives a really nice flavor! I have a great recipe for blueberry bread that I'm going to make soon into a video.
Cooking with Mia I actually have tried this with chocochips and more bananas and I absolutely love it! Will try applesauce for sure. Can u suggest how much applesauce I will need? Will look forward to your next video!
Hi Famimo! I would try 3/4 applesauce and try adding 1 1/2 cups of peeled apples that are diced into tiny cubes. Give it a try and please let me know how it turns out! :)
Cooking with Mia Sounds good! I hope I can try it this or next weekend. Will let u know if it works. Thanks for responding Mia! You're the best👍
Awesome! Thanks so much for tuning into my channel and trying out these recipes!!!!!
Can i use bread flour?
Yes! :)
Thank you for sharing this recipe my kids love this..
I just made it great recipe! So moist and delicious 😋! I made them in muffins and substituted sugar for honey and works great!
would this work with overripe bananas? The way my mom made banana bread was to freeze them when they went black, that way you got super sweet bananas.
Absolutely! In fact, it's far better with over ripe bananas as they are extra sweet! Let me know how it goes! :)
Cooking with Mia I tried it with chocolate chips as well, it turned out amazing!!!
You are awesome! I love how you are putting your own spin on the recipe. Now you are inspiring me to put chocolate chips in my next banana bread I make for my family!
Cooking with Mia no problem! My mom would make it with raisins or walnuts too. I love taking recipes and adding something to it :)
That's the best way to cook - taking a recipe and making it personal to you! Love it! Great job and keep cooking & baking!
can i exclude the baking soda?
Unfortunately no, as this is a critical element in the texture of the bread. :(
Karen Evans Dis s.
Yes you can, I just made this without it and it was amazing!! 😍
Karen Evans i mean i added baking soda but skipped baking powder i don't know if it willl make a big difference
Karen Evans lmao
I just tasted my banana bread ! So So So delicious !!! Didn't know I could make those by myself and that the taste would be even more delicious than the ones in store !!
made this yesterday omg came out so good thank you
Can we have the recipe in grams? Thank you!
Ive baked this recipe SO many times so delicious and yummy however i would suggest not adding as much sugar because if ur using ripe bananas they already have alot of sweetness
This has been, literally, my go-to recipe for years. My family loves it and my friends go crazy about it. I didn't comment before but after making this for so long I wanted to thank you. As many people said; it's quick, easy, and foolproof. Not everything needs to be fancy nor complicated. I've even done this in my airfryer and it was great.
That is awesome!
I made this and it was soooooooo fluffy and moist! mmmmmm yummerz! I was out of butter, so I reduced the salt a bit and substituted in margarine and also a bit of vanilla. Thank you, this was so easy, litterally took me less than 5 minutes to mix all the ingredients and place in the toaster oven! Delightful!
Wow Melissa! That's wonderful that even with substitutes, it came out great! I am so glad that it was easy for you and came out yummy! Keep on baking!!!
