I love it when you're brutally honest on these. It's not that you're trying to "shame" anyone - your're just being HONEST about the work that was done. There's an educational quality to tearing an install down (especially these 911 installs) that I really appreciate. Thanks for doing these and thanks for illustrating the right way to take care of a customer.
@r__p__m Not "ripping off their customers" in ALL cases. Some shops just have a certain fairly low but workable standard level of workmanship, and they haven't learned how to take it up to the next level.
The thumbs downs are from the crew that previously installed this system.
Another great start to another great save fellas. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Dean sounds like a teacher grading homework lol
JaMarvelous jmar662601 Yes SIR :)
I like how thorough, honest and knowledgeable you guys are!!!
I bout died when he said "Save the tape trees"
That's just high IQ humor
I'm glad I'm not the only one who appreciated that one.
OMG, Fernando said whole sentences. This video is awesome!!! Yeah, I said it, we know who the real star of the show is :DDDDD Love the show guys. Keep up the amazing work.
possibly my favorite video so far.. just found 5star and I love it.
These videos are the best. At least this Ram is in good hands now.
Awesome video just FYI where the carpet was “cut” is where the factory HK sub was. Looks like they made a simple board to just cover the hole. Wish everyone took pride in there work like you all do. Love the transparency, pride, and quality of work you guys do.
Thank you for the video guys. As an owner of a 2019 ram , it has been a PITA upgrading the audio system. Especially for a DIY guy like myself. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
It wasn't easy, that's for sure! I took my time and had to get a bit creative running wire.
Just did one of these guys I was hoping to see you guys do one before I did mine but no go. Anyways there is no direct T-Harness Solution like you said but if you buy an APH-CH01 you can cut off the small index on those harness plugs and repin the connectors. That way no cutting.
This is what I needed during quarantine
When I watch these 911 videos it makes me laugh and cry at the same time. I've never done an install myself but watching plenty of Fivestarcarstereo videos I think I could do a better job on my first try.
Grounds are very important! I learned that first hand many years ago doing a self install. xD
The dislikes are from the shop that did the original install.
So happy you guys did my audio. You were my third place but should have been my first choice.
Setting the standard for a clean, proper installation.
Save the tape trees!!!
Y spend all that $$$ to get a bad install when U could've just took it to Dean and Fernando to begin with. Now paying twice isn't a tax write off
Beautiful truck...Great equipment, and absolute hack install. I know you guys do not call people out for this type of work ( Could come back on your shop as Defamation ), and I respect that. Dean, the "DEAN" of Rehabilitation, at the 5 Star college of professional audio and video. Fernando, the one who kicks out the trouble makers ( Removes the Hack Job Installs and prepares the vehicles for proper install ). Keep up the great work!
Rescue 911 Thank God someone 's there to help !!!
And this why dean is installer of the year.
"Save the Tape Trees" LOL
Freaking awesome. This one will be amazing. Love Audio Frog. Ribbit.
You guys hear it all the times..... but I wished you were closer, I would love to have you guys work on my vehicle... I have a Ram1500
911 install
Did you hit your glasses with the interface? Just curious. EVERYTHING ELSE is on point. Keep it up!
"Tape Trees" is now a thing at my shop.
Can not wait to see the finished install
I really wish you guys were here in my town.
WOW what a mess you guys got to fix huh. Looks like a fast slap it together send it job. Love your videos can't wait to see it fixed.
Man, some really good equipment with a poo poo install
I've got those same speakers in my WRX, 6.5 instead of the 6x9 of course. I really hope the owner got all the extra hardware that come with the speakers! The GS-25 comes with it's own "fast ring" that didn't get used. The GS10 has a ton of mounting hardware that it comes with that they didn't use either. Real shame if he didn't get that stuff back to use properly
The vehicle was at that shop for a week, no way did they give anything back to the customer. Most likely kept or threw away unwanted/unused accessories.
These episodes are awesome
So the used higher end gear and did that install? Holy crap. Audio frog, digital designs, and sundown aren't exactly cheap brands.
OMG,this is the real 911,This video is awesome!!!. This is the most dirty installation I never see it
Another great "rework" (as we say in aviation) as usual guys! The original wiring at the amp rack was not that neat, that's for sure.
11:52 I felt that noise 😂🤣
Good morning...Your JOB is to make PEOPLE happy, and not to feel like poopoo 💩🤣👍🔊🙌🚘🎶
Not the worst install i've seen but still very bad. Glad it's being fixed by the best in the business :)
And I thought I wasn’t very good at running wire. And I don’t get paid for it. BUT, I did an install for a friend where the speaker plugs were out of stock. So I unsoldered the factory ones and re-used them. Super hard
SAVE THE TAPE TREES!!!!!!!!
When will you guys have part 2 of this video?
Spot on!!! 👍 Can u guys do a video on a 09 Lincoln Mks stereo upgrade? Can't find anything on this.
I've seen my fair share of WHT THE HECK WERE THEY THINKING installs 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
Holy freaking panel tool!!!!
Ran across noise cancelling circuitry on these trucks. There are 4 microphones in headliner "listening" for background noise. It would inject a nasty cancelling frequency to over come enviornment back ground. You have to snip 4 wires to bypass this function. It ran great once you did that . This is if you are retaining the factory radio and adding amp/ sub.
No need to cut any cable, you can use this harness to bypass factory ANC, i believed PAC should have bypass harness for it too.
lljcustoms.com/store/ols/products/2019-ram-anc-bypass
@@gHiDoRaZ No need to buy that when you can just depin the harness...and if you need to ever plug back in, easy peasy!
A simple case of "I'm cheaper than all my competitors" OR "My friend can do it cheaper".
Love your videos. Do you know if you have any where you demonstrate techniques for running new speaker wire to the door speakers?
Tyler, running new wire in modern vehicles is downright painful. If you're not running more than a few hundred watts to each driver, I would try to tap into the existing OEM wire either at the kickpanels or the stock output harness coming from the OEM amp. I am running 200x2 to each of my 6x9s in my front doors using Stinger speedwire tapped into the OEM amp harness under my front seat. Even though your amp says it's rated 200x2, most often you're not even coming close to running 200watts when listening to music.
So, Dean, are you saying this job will not make the clean wire club? 🤔
LOL!
You guys do great work !
They are a few things that have to b reworked. But didn’t seem to crazy bad. I have seen worse . And come on nitpicking the road kill it’s just a lowball on you guys. Many shops dnt even use it. But over all I still like watching you guys work. Inspire us to do work like you’res.
This is a good 911 video
I have been watching/learning from you 2 for a few years now, I absolutley love your work. This has to be the most disgusting example of a shop willing to screw over a customer. Or it was a buddy who tried to help out the owner. And failed
Dude, he's so cool, he put some tape on the wire!
Lol 😆
Why would anyone thumbs down these videos? Unless you don't like car audio. In that case, you probably shouldn't watch them anyway?
Great video guys!!! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Spent the money for AudioFrog and let hacks install it initially. Gotta research your installer. Great job guys
I see a T-shirt idea......"save the tape trees"
SAVE THE TAPE TREES!!
Yay 911
Dean - do you know of a good audio shop in San Diego,CA that you recommend
i cant believe the shop that did this job did not put a distribution fuse block in the back too and just used one 4 gauge for 3 amps. Dean and Fernando will do it right but i can tell that they are like me when i get these kinds of jobs at my shop... i sigh. there is a saying i go by: be cheap and cut corners in your work or in what you buy and it will cost you alot more in the long run.
Not sure if you answer questions on videos but I have one. If your using component speakers with a passive crossover would it be better to remove that crossover if you install a dsp?
Ferrules won’t work with these amps. The angle of the screw makes it impossible to fasten it. I have the same amp. But I’m open for suggestions. Looking forward for the rest of 911. Great channel!
ferrels will work fine in these amps. you must be doing something wrong
Ive been away from high end car audio for several years. What ever happened with HLCD's? Back when I was competing, they were all the rage, if you had the equalizer for them.
Please define HLCD. Thanks!
Horn Loaded Compression Drivers. They were commonly referred to as "Wave guides", but I think that was actually a name of a specific brands speakers. Used in some high end setups, mostly in competitive cars. Very high efficiency. Helped with "time alignment" by placing the voice coils very far away from the listener's.
@@chanceatherton575 I'm sure Dean knows all about them.
Someone call 911 😂😂. Don't know why Little Giants came to mind.
👍👍😎!did you guys us the new"Pac"system?
Great job! It'd take me a month to do this!!!
Is there anything different about doing a big 3 upgrade on the new ram 1500's? For instance on a Chevy your grounding has to run through a round voltage reading thing so your computer can read it. I can't find a single video on a new dodge upgrade
Save the tape trees. this should be a t-shirt
Great video !
Where did they splice the speed wire and rca inputs into that harness? Is it behind the center unit or in the wiring setup below the steering?
I have a ram 2500 with the Harmon Kardon and the 12 inch screen.... have you guys done one of those yet?
Never heard of audio frog. So. I looked them up, and realize why I had never heard of them. They cost more than my car.
This original install wasnt from a shop in winchester va was it?
Quick, where is part 2?
Technically it’s just a “Ram”. Dodge and Ram are separate brands now.
Hey Dean, I guess I didn't catch it but who did you say you had for your home audio? Is SVS or Savard any good? I'm just now getting into home audio
Can you link the light used in the overhead of vehicles in these installs
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a far stretch from a 911 issue. This was clearly a bad location on the amplifiers. They didnt use custom length rcas. The doors were not that bad.
Here is what I'd like to see. The installation cost receipt of the previous shop and yours.
I love ya guys and you do the industry proud but at some point we need to discuss installation cost.
At my shop an amplifier is $125.00 that's it. I dont charge for mounting panels and if you purchase it from us we do a discount at 85.00
The door speakers would be $75.00 basic installation and as clean as what you pulled out.
Please for the love of god have Paul or Dean reply to this so we can see what some of this work is costing in your area vs where they got this done.
Well tell your owner to charge more money then to do the job correctly. And actually you can still do a nice job at a cheapish rate but there is no justifying this installation no matter what price point
How much can one expect to spend with this type off 911?
Save the tape trees please. I had to learn that lesson myself. I would run through tape rolls.
Oh my gawd, the amount of time you just wasted.... At least you know now.
Woohoo! 2019 Ram!
Geez, I don't even work for a shop and my work isn't even near this shoddy!! Unbelievable!
This guy dropped some major cash on this system.......
Yeah and all he got was a crap install from the previous company
At least it'll leave D and F sounding like it should.
What’s scary is more times then it should, you take your stuff to a “professional” installer and expect it to be done right and it’s crap. Unless you go through and check everything, you could be getting screwed. I would bet this guy had spent a MINIMUM of 4-5 k on equipment and install before it even go to five star. Maybe the guy tried to do it himself? Idk.
Is it possible to use the amp pro without a DSP? or is the DSP a must for the Ram limited?
where are you guys located at .....
Save the tape trees..🤜🤛😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
It's faster to do it right then that hacked bs. Obviously they didn't have a plan of what they would do during the install, they didn't have a plan because they had no idea what they were doing...
Dean I need help connecting an eonon 10.1 Android 10 Ga2188 head unit backup camera in a 2008 jeep Wrangler x no amplification and no steering controls. Back up camera is a polk with power and video connectors. I would like to turn reverse camera on when traveling forward to see what I'm trailing. I hope this is correct way to ask. Thanks
Do you ever get flak from installers youve fixed over the years?
where is the video with Newer Chevy Cruze? cant find it anymore
Save the tape trees 🌳 please save 🙏 the tape 🌳 lol 😆
I wish you guys were in iowa lol
EY SOMEONE CAN HELP ME?? i just installed amp and subs on dodge ram 2022 2500 cummins
so when i finished everything is like a buzzing on the subwoofers but only make that sound when the doors are closed not when is open!!!
Whoever did this install should he whipped with that extra five feet of RCAs.
A 3ohm infinity in the dash plus 4 ohm in door in parallel is 1.7 ohm...how can I amp them
What do you do with the Wires that you take out of Each Customer Car after they do not want the Wires?
lmfao that ground
Hey guys I have a 2020 ram 1500, if I mount my lc2i module next to my ANC module under my driver seat. How long you think my rca cables need to be if my sub amp is behind my back seat? 9ft or 12ft? Thanks alot
I just bought 2 15” DD 7000 series. BUT, I haven’t gotten a custom box made for them yet so they are in a pre fab porter box. It’s loud but I feel like they could sound so much better. Anyone have recommendations on Cubic Ft and box tuning for these subs? Also, I have a Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdcp powering them.
I have a dd 18 single in my jeep in an 8 cu ft box and man does that thing kick. They sound muddy if you dont play high quality songs. I have a jl sub in my f150 and everything sounds good on that. I think the ported design is naturally muddy and boomy so unless its a really well produced song with good mixing, its gonna sound just okay.
What is the treatment tape stuff you used at 12:35 ?
