  • Hey guys, we decided to do a speaker installation tutorial for you today. It's not something we thought we would be making videos on but we were in the job and decided, why not!
    Today we're working on a 2023 5th Gen Ram 1500 Crew Cab with the Harman Kardon sound system, but the instructions are the same for all the 5th Gen Ram Crew Cabs and Quad Cabs from 2019 and up. In this application, we are replacing the factory 4ohm Harman speakers with new ARC Audio X2 speakers. These are a more efficient speaker than factory, so even though we're not changing out the amplifier that is powering them, there is still a significant difference in the output from the factory sound system with this upgrade.
    On this truck, we also installed our behind the seat subwoofer upgrade to really help bring the volume up, so be sure to check out our other video on that and we'll walk you through the whole installation.

    I have a 19 1500 longhorn with alpine system. I have a lc2i pro to add a sub amp but how do i get a 4 channel amp to work for extra 6x9s in boxes for added highs?

      The AmpPro is the only way to get a full range signal out of that truck and keep the stock amplifier working on the rest of the speakers.

    I have looked at a lot of videos about swapping the door speakers. No one ever swaps the upper front door speakers. Why?

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  2 місяці тому

      We get great results with good component sets and that's what most customers will be familiar with. 3 ways are great when used correctly, but the real advantages come with a DSP and a great tune, and that is a much more involved installation and more expensive gear. All depends on the persons goals and skill levels, and of course, budget.

    I have a 21' Laramie with the HK system. The system sounds better to me with the "surround" feature off. That seems to help with the lack of mid bass coming from the front doors, but it's still lacking. Any suggestions to possibly fix this, and would I need to do an ANC bypass just replacing front door speakers?

    How about a amp/crossover thats compatible with existing system to make speakers "sing louder".

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  4 місяці тому

      Tying an amp into the stock speakers is doable, but involved. You can do it with a DSP amplifier, but that will take more advanced installation and tuning. But doable.

    I have been looking for this exact video. I have heard replacing my stock speakers on my RAM HK system would not make a big difference. How would you compare the difference in stock vs. aftermarket?

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  5 місяців тому

      In most cases in the past, I would tell you no. But with the HK trucks with quality speakers, we have had significant improvements. If you're expecting a $70 speaker to make an improvement, then my guess would be probably not.

    Awesome video! Just a quick few questions:
    The HK dash speakers are mid ranges, correct? No real tweeter or high ranges?
    The front door speakers with dash tweeters you installed are essentially bypassing the door tweeter all together? With this install, are the new door 6x9's running full range as coaxials?
    The rear 6x9 i see has coaxial tweeters. Are you actually getting full range from these, or are the highs behind you in the headliner?
    Thanks very much!

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  5 місяців тому +1

      The dash on the 1500s is a coax and plays from around 1000hz and up, so it does play the highs. The doors are mids and only play around 80-1000hz so the doors aren't playing full range. We did put in coax speakers with a tweeter on them but the tweeter is only playing a little bit. And the same for the rear doors. The only way to get them to play full range would be to bypass the HK system and run a new amplifier with the Pac AmpPro as the signal.

    Hi, I have a base speaker setup ( not alpine or Harmon) with no factory amp or sub in my 5th gen ram 1500 quad cab. I also believe my model doesn't have ANC. Can I still utilize these speakers to get better sound? Also, do I need to install an amp to run these speakers since my truck doesn't have one? Thanks in advance.

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  4 місяці тому +2

      You will gain clarity, but you will typically loose output. The stock speakers are 2ohm on all systems besides the Harman system, so swapping them for 4ohm speakers will generally mean you loose output. So adding an amp will get you more output, but also better overall sound with more power behind the speakers.

    do you have any idea what speaker to buy for the ram that has the center speaker upgraded system?

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  10 місяців тому +2

      We honestly never mess with upgrading the center channel speaker. I find that quality speakers in the doors and dash corners are more than enough for a quality sound stage if they are installed and tuned correctly.

    Just bought a 21' laramie with the kardon speaker set up. Not a fan of how it sounds. The audio output is front heavy and the larger door speakers are so quiet, which makes the surround sound feature seem lacking. Any input as to if replacements would help?

    • @Netaudiowf
      @Netaudiowf  8 місяців тому

      The system is designed to be front heavy, as you put it. If you're in the front seat, you have 7 speakers in front of you. If you're in the back seat you have 9 speakers in front of you and two firing at the back of your head. So it's designed to put more sound in front and less in the rear, plus that gives a better sound stage for the music for the front seats.
      If you're wanting to upgrade it, just changing the speakers won't make much of a difference other than some clarity. But putting a speaker in the door that has 3 tweeters won't do any good because that speaker location isn't being fed any highs. That's a very structured system, so if you're wanting significant changes in the sound, you need to just replace it and then you'll have control over making it sound the way you want it to.
