IMO the Shaper tape is one of the best double-sided tapes available. It is also the most expensive. I've tried numerous two-inch tapes from Amazon and had success with pretty much all of them. I've been using The Good Stuff carpet tape. Is it as good as Shaper? No way. However, it is also $17 for 60 yards. So I just use a little more. No problems yet with shifting or adherence. I've also used Hippe Crafter. It's about the same as The Good Stuff IMO. And costs more at $14 for 40 yards. The best tape I found is MISSYOUNG. However, it is one-inch tape and not usable for a lot of Shaper projects.

Good information. Obviously, I can't test them all, but good to know there are other cost-effective options. I was focusing on tapes that are easily available (minus Shaper) and wouldn't require the added wait times/cost with shipping, but I'll give the tapes you mention a try down the road

I actually really like the Hippie Crafter tape. It's currently $16 for 90' on Amazon and ships same day to my location (that's $12 cheaper than Shaper's tape).

Intertape 591 I believe is the same thing as the shaper brand tape. It is available online and what I have been using for quite some time. 2"x36 yard for about 26 bucks from amazon.

This is basically the same price as the Shaper tape.

What makes you think it's the same?

Important piece of information I learned about all of the tapes tested. NONE of the tapes will grip in below freezing temperatures.

Greatly appreciate this methodical approach to double-sided tape (or equiv) options! The shaper tape looked great given the cost you showed of "$.026". That seemed too good to be true. And yes, it's a typo. I guess you meant $0.26/ft. Oops. Might want to point out that error in the description or somewhere. A couple of minor critiques, would have been great to include a simple table summarizing the properties and costs and pros and cons, though I know we as end users can to this. If that was too much to fit onscreen then include one in the video description. (I know, you don't; want to do that because some people won't watch the video...) Also, the previews of other videos offered at the end covered up some of the summary text. There's probably a simple way to dismiss those previews but I don't know how.

I hear, and appreciate the critiques. Mistakes will be made, but as long as you all catch them and offer up positive feedback, I'll make the adjustments after the fact. Not a perfect solution, but the best I can do.

Great comparison and I would liked to have seen a table at the end. I’ve been using Hippie Tape - no tear out but sometimes I need a crow bar to pull it off.

I also use the indoor/outdoor Duck tape. But, I mostly use the Shaper tape now because it doesn't gum up the router bits like the Duck tape does. Does the clear Duck tape gum up the router bits?

Great point. I was using an old piece of tempered hardboard as a sacrificial surface with the Duck indoor/outdoor tape and it left a ton of residue on the bit and on the inside edges of my cuts. Won't be doing that again. I used the clear Duck tape yesterday and had no residue. The only issue with the clear tape is you need to had a dead flat surface with some grit to it or it doesn't stick as well as the Shaper tape
