Am I the only one looking at the 1 inch roll going... hey I can run that through my table saw and I have 2 7/16 rolls for 1 dollar more!! and I get prime shipping too!!
You're the real deal, Cody! I love how original and creative you are, and also your ability to explain the 'how' and 'why' to provide complete context to the viewer.
I watched this video a month ago, roughly. I haven’t actually used double sided tape in my shop, yet, but I did buy some and I intend to use it. Fast forward to yesterday when I’m putting new grips on my golf clubs, which requires double sided tape…eureka moment as I struggled with the darn tape after using the dreaded scissors. Somehow the knowledge imparted by this video kicked in, making my day far better. Many thanks! I am somewhat new to woodworking and I am finding myself pulling from the various videos I’ve watched, employing some great concepts without really thinking about them. It’s becoming organic for me. On to the next video…😊
Great video - I use double-stick to keep my dog where I can see him while I’m working in the shop. When time to go I pop him off the floor with a snow shovel and off we go!
I saw this vid years ago and just rewatched it. Some game changing stuff for me.....I got a few rolls of the recommended tape and started making paper tails! Such a handy tool to save time if you keep a roll of tape handy.
i have watched a few of your videos tonight and have to subscribe! Love your voice and the fact that you relay a lot of USEFUL info in a short time, without being boring, long-winded, repetitive or fast-talking. I can spot that you're probably quite shy, usually - But you manage these video's like the pro that you obviously are! So well done! And the passion you have for the job shines through clearly!!!
Hi. I recently built your style of bandsaw circle jig. Works like a charm!. After using it for a while I saw a couple of tweaks to the jig. Instead of the dovetail grove for the size adjustment I installed a T track channel. Also I incorporated a ball bearing for the center of the doughnut. Spins with no binding. Love you work.
Love your videos, you don’t fish or beg for comments, likes and subs unlike plenty other.. witch is fine just not my preference. Super subtle about your info. Exactly what I like to look at when I need to learn new things! And you’re very good at explaining instructions
Thank you for taking time from your obviously busy schedule to share this information with the world. Your knowledge is extensive, and your delivery is honest. I continue to learn many new things from what you share and for that - I'm extremely grateful.
That was very, very, very helpful - good content that I have not seen elsewhere. I actually avoided using double sided tape because of the frustration of trying to peel of the layer but you have solved that issue for me forever. Thanks!
BTW - Your tip with the double sided tape was awesome. I never used double sided tape before and man it really helped me in a recent project. Thank you for the tip.
I've been having trouble with the tapes I have getting a firm hold. Your video was terrific and told me and showed specifically what I should do. Thanks
More UA-cam gold from Jodee. I've got to get some of that tape. The the plywood zero clearance topper is genius. Say hello to the lady behind the scenes.
Amen to that! We’re so excited for the new season! And our boys’ little league season just started and they’re on the Giants too so it’s all a win-win! Thanks a ton for watching!
DST also works great when making multiples without creating fixtures or jigs to do so. Such as on a belt sander when free sanding down to a marked shape, but still needing copies or mirrored copies.
Great video - I'm a little new to woodworking -- metal has always been my medium.... easy to fix screw ups :). I just purchased this double stick tape, per you suggestion. Thanks for the great tutorials,Larry
In Canada you can get the paper double side tape in the paint department at home Depot. Double sided painters tape. I use it for sticking a paper print out of my pattern to my wood so I can cut using scroll saw or the band saw.
I have been using double sided tape for years , and nobody can tell me anything about DS tape that I didn't already know. Er, except that I have been using the wrong stuff and I shouldn't be cutting the backing off flush. Did you know that after taping two pieces of wood together if you give them a good squeeze with a clamp it can take up to two days to separate them again! All joking aside a brilliant vid I learnt a lot in a very short time.
Applying the tape direct from the roll. So obvious, so simple - so overlooked. Leaving the tail of backing paper to peel off easy. Simple yet genius! If you only knew just how much time I spent trying to separate the paper from the tape once applied. DUHHHHHHHHH! Thank you for that.
Subscribed! Very practical *skill based* tips, and many of them! I expect that I'll forget most of them, and then after I make a mistake, I'll smack myself on the forehead and go back and do it right the second time.
Thank you for this video. I've seen people mention and use double-sided tape, but this really is good information. I just ordered a roll of 1". Great video!
It might sounds like sacrilege, but I have seen similar ( I'm not sure how the quality compares) in Dollar Tree stores in the craft section. Not as large roll as yours, but for someone to learn the use of it or don't need a lot it's perfect. Love the video by the way. I used to restore antique radios and I sure could have used tutorials like yours. Alas it was pre-UA-cam times.
Great video and thanks for sharing. I have been using a roll of carpet and it only took one time to figure out it is too sticky and a pain in the bit to get off so I started just laying down some cheap beige masking tape and then putting the carpet tape on top of that so it was easy to pull the masking tape off and the carpet tape comes with it. Works great but your way is better. I just ordered a roll of the Intertape! One thing that has worked great with the carpet tape because it is SO sticky it can be used over and over many times. I have a section 4 foot extruded aluminum that has a perfect straight edge on it so I laid down some strips of the carpet tape on it and I can stick this onto any board that needs a jointed straight edge just like you did with the piece of wood but when I am done and separate the 2 pieces I put the pealed off tape backing back on the carpet tape keeping it from getting dirty. I have used that straight edge at least 25 times now without adding new tape and it has worked perfect.
I have since bought a 3m respirator for both organic vapors and also for particles . Small price for a more comfortable and pleasant life. Items are on Amazon.
Wow, I didn't know about this tape. I was going to get some "poster tape" but this looks much better. "Intertape 591 Double Sided Flatback Paper Tape: 1/2 in. x 36 yds. (Beige)" from Walmart for $8.66. I couldn't find where you listed your supplier. Thank you!!
The usefulness of the double sided tape is so overlook'd where I live, I can't even find one that is thin. Just the thick ones and they leave residue, now that isn't good for my applications. Great video as always.
Thanks for the video. Great common sense solution. Like the fact that your are talking about production. I will be sure to use this in my cnc work flow. Saves so much time vs vacuum hold down. Pending on the use. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
I went to the paper tape link this morning and they have a 25% price reduction on all 3 of their sizes of double stick paper tape. I placed an order for the 2 smallest widths and also ordered some mag switches. If you order stuff, you can reach various thresholds and get some free items. I'm getting a couple of free cabinet scrapers and free shipping.
The great video it actually has numerous tips and tricks that I know I can apply my work. Although I've been in the construction industry for over 40 years I'm new to trying to do finer woodworking. As I watched channels I'm really discouraged that all these young guys who have lots of money and brand new tools and can make awesome videos but really have no experience or any information that I can use. That's not true with this channel lots of great usable information thank you again
I love this comment. You know from the beginning I have had the goal in mind to make really amazing, professional style video but have it actually be informative and entertaining at the same time. A tall task for someone who had zero experience doing so. But I’m determined and slowly honing that craft, just like woodworking itself. I also appreciate that you differentiate construction with woodworking or carpentry, as a lot of people blend it all together. Thanks a ton for watching! Let me know if there’s a topic or something you would like to see me cover.
Haha! Thanks man! I was wondering if anyone actually caught that. I almost took it out of the video. I always know you’re listening. Thank you my friend!
I love your videos mate..got hooked on the japanese work burning because of you...i love the fact that you never know what your going to get ..but when you see the finished product you go ...wow...i can do this ..im an irish man living in wales uk ..and i use the double sided stuff for cutting circles on the router table without leaving a centre hole...i usually cut perspex or is it plexiglass in the new world?..it was ace watching all your videos mate...i thank you .
Yeah that was one of the tips I mentioned in the blue tape video as well. I love that trick but it's unbearably slow (to me) for making 40 items on repeat.
Inspire Woodcraft ... s l o w ... fiddly.... and therefore expensive. Most of these UA-camrs have never actually had to meet any kind of production schedule - they make lots of jigs and shop projects but very little actual woodwork or casework.
Okay, I have to know how you remove the tape when you’re done. Does the sticky part just peel up? Btw, I’m in awe of your knowledge- you’re so young to have such a wealth of know-how! Are you sure you’re not a 1000 year old man in a 30-something body?? I’m so glad I found your channel!
Omg. After watching this video, I felt very stupid. Whyyyyyy, a trivial thing like this never thought of in my braaaaain? 😩 Thanks for sharing this ProJo (Professor Jodee) ❤
Great video! I actually found, and subscribed to you, because of your masking tape video showing how to use it as a bootleg version of double sided tape. Thanks!
Inspire Woodcraft that too but really meant how many times you said double sided tape . Newbie here... used the carpet tape and didn’t like the residue it leaves behind and didn’t have success finding tape like what you used at the big box stores.. definitely going be ordering.
Ha! I thought that might be what you meant. I didn’t even hear it this time but the other day I realized I say the word “actually” way to much and I have no idea why. I’m going to need a few counters I think. I’m glad you got some good info! Thanks again!
I would like your thoughts on tape repositioning, and removal from wood. If it does not go down correctly, can it be restuck if you didn't press too hard? If it was used for aligning pieces for drilling, how do you get the tape off completely? I was going to buy 1" but the local distributor of 591 also carries 3/4". From your video, it looks like it is a lot stronger than I thought and the narrower width might be enough and generally more useful, not to mention, cheaper. Thanks.
I have found that 3/4 works well for most things that I do. Some of these things are pretty situational. Tape repositioning will work most times but if it touches itself you kind of have to start over. Also, if you stick a piece of tape to a used piece of tape it will typically pull it up quicker than if you pick at it with your fingernail. It most situations the tape comes off with no residue in my experience. If there is residue, some denatured alcohol works great for removal. Hope that helps!
Thank you very much. That answers all my questions. The tape distributor with a local warehouse has a retail store close by. The idea of a tape store is pretty cool, never seen one before. They offer 591 from 1/2" to 4". I'm on my way now for a roll of 3/4". Thanks again.
Good video, but my double sided is different to yours. It doesn’t have a sticky side. It’s basically two pieces of tape stuck to each other, and you have to peel them apart to reveal the piece that’s sticky, and the piece that’s the non sticky film.
Scissors are NOT your friend! How do you guys use double sided tape in YOUR shop? Let's share!
razor blade
I don’t...
Am I the only one looking at the 1 inch roll going... hey I can run that through my table saw and I have 2 7/16 rolls for 1 dollar more!! and I get prime shipping too!!
I don’t know about the table saw, but I had the same idea with mounting tape a while back.
@@jonperez8513 Band saw, some cooking oil on the blade.

Ball bearing! Great idea. Thank you!
How have I never come up with that paper tail idea on my own? So simple, so perfect. 🙏
SUCH a time saver!! Thanks for watching!
Electricians have done it forever but I never thought to use that technique with double sided tape.
Love your videos, you don’t fish or beg for comments, likes and subs unlike plenty other.. witch is fine just not my preference. Super subtle about your info. Exactly what I like to look at when I need to learn new things! And you’re very good at explaining instructions

I'm sold.. I need some of this stuff if even only for templates and the bandsaw table ! But I'm sure it will be used for more. Thank you.
The tricks that come with experience, thanks for sharing them with us! cheers.
Great idea with the tail. Saw you use this in another video and looked this one up specifically. 👍

I’ve been trying to find a good double sided tape for the wood shop for a while now. Definitely going to pick up a roll of this tape to try.
Great video - I'm a little new to woodworking -- metal has always been my medium.... easy to fix screw ups :). I just purchased this double stick tape, per you suggestion. Thanks for the great tutorials,Larry

No problem and thanks for watching! I think it will change your shop time for the better.
Wow. The router table top hack 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Thanks for pointing out the that got you! This has helped me so many times. Way easier and cheaper than making a new table. Thanks for watching!
Inspire Woodcraft I was so taken by that router tip I forgot to give you a 👍 for the tape ideas. ☺️

I really appreciate this comment but for which part are you referring to?
Inspire Woodcraft The extra support pieces on the chop saw
Great information. I especially like how you apply the tape.

Thanks for the great ideas. Headed to the shop now to put these into practice.
Really appreciate the watch and comment! I feel like all “the best” tips I’ve ever learned have been that way. Thanks a ton!
Great ideas - a lot of food for thought 👍

Thank you. Excellent tutorial.
Another good video and great ideas! I liked your bit about leaving a link to replace the roll you were using😂👍

Haha! If I get one we definitely wouldn’t be looking at it all day anyway. I have enough to do with or without it!
I use it 2 cut small items on the miter saw.
forgive me I'm a beginner ...where is the brand of the tape and where to buy it....great video...thanks
Excellent video. Simple. Inspiring. Subscribed!
Looking forward to raiding the back catalogue for more tips.
Much appreciated!!
Very good tips. Thanks
After 20 years using double side tape, I did not know about tails - used scissors - also thanks for the link.
Well thanks for the watch! Glad to be of help!
Great ideas and a really cool product! another awesome video!
Thanks!!
Lots of great ideas in this video.
Thanks!!
brill video have learnt a lot off you today thank you
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
That's a great idea. I am hoping I can do a modified version of this with my own tape (I use the thin plastic film type).
Really practical and handy hints..👍
Excellent suggestions!!
Thanks for the very useful video! This information will help me solve a number of problems securing workpieces.

Really good video, packed with information, thanks
Thanks for the video. I learned a lot of useful tips. Keep up the good work. 👍
Awesome! And thank YOU for taking the time to watch!
Thanks for sharing that
Omg.
After watching this video, I felt very stupid. Whyyyyyy, a trivial thing like this never thought of in my braaaaain? 😩
Thanks for sharing this ProJo (Professor Jodee) ❤
Hahaha! Love this comment!
Of course the first thing is to use a tack cloth on each surface to remove any dust etc.!
That was extremely informative, helpful, and well done. I am subscribing. Thanks!
Very informative as always.
Great tips. Many thanks!
Good info
I use double sided tape and scissors when I want to get frustrated and throw stuff around the shop...LOL :)
Hahaha! YES!
Awesome tips.
I would have liked to see how you separate your finished piece from the template it was taped to.
I always enjoy your videos. I really like the shou sugi ban. I will be trying that soon. It is the look I have been wanting
That's awesome! Thanks for watching and good luck on the shou sugi ban!
Great video keep it up.
Thank you sir!!
Hopefully, I can actually get to make something someday besides sticks. lol
I’ve actually been making blocks so I’m getting somewhere. lol
Do you use any size other then the18mm. in your shop or is the 18mm good enough for everything?
Another great video.
Well done
Thanks a ton!
Macgyver would be very proud Sir
Muito boa suas dicas. Obrigado por compartilhar conosco. Deus abençoe!
Great Video! I've Subscribed also. Thanks
Great video! I actually found, and subscribed to you, because of your masking tape video showing how to use it as a bootleg version of double sided tape.
Thanks!
Well thank you! Now you have the best of both worlds. Thanks for watching this one too. A little bit different video style for this one.
Love it brother awesome thanx
Great ideas!
Need double side tape counter at the end 😂
Thanks! You mean for how much I used?
Also, if you stick a piece of tape to a used piece of tape it will typically pull it up quicker than if you pick at it with your fingernail. is the tape similar to the tape I use to regrip golf clubs?
