You guys are amazing. Thank you so much!!
OHHH YURRRRRR!!!
#drums #drumheads #music #gear #mesh
Thank you guys for watching! Ohhh Yurrrr!
These are definitely the most real-feeling mesh drumheads I've played on. Especially the bass drums!! I expected them to be a LOT bouncier, but that sound patch in the middle really helps them feel like regular drum heads.
UPDATE!!!
I was able to get a discount code for you guys, but only for people who live in the continental US. Use code SAMUS10 for 10% off at rtom.com/store/
🤘🤘
Awesome video. Have you thought about using something like the Zildjian Gen16 cymbals, or any other, triggered/low vol cymbals? Or even using Roland cymbal pads?
Can you play those mesh heads live? Just curious
Before the triggers it sounds like "Silvester Anfang" by Mayhem off the "mediolanum capta est" album. Literally that's exactly what I thought of when I heard this lol.
Looks great! I have the other RTOM that you just put on top of your toms, with Zildjan L80 cymbals (living in a condo) and had no complaint from neighbors so far. Feeling of the RTOM is great, it's an amazing product and great alternative to building a 20 000$ studio! I am just wondering what's the benefice of using the RTOM drumheads you are reviewing in this video instead of using the one I got (that you put on top of your drums). I thought it was one of their main differentiator with remo? They seem to be a bit louder (which can be of interest to some depending of the level of noise you can make), maybe they work better with triggers? I have tried my RTOM with the Roland TM-2 module and corresponding triggers and it didn't work that great (hard to fix the triggers on the rubber rims).
Samus plays jungle blaster
Samus saying "TWENTY TWO!" is the ultimate day brightener.
Time stamp please
@@alfieconnolly5090 01:25 is one of two instances, I think.
@@kodiakthejuggler Thank you.
Dwenteh DUUUUUU🎶
And not the shredding he did on the kit?
Well, gee, this is a really inexpensive way to use samples without the worry of mic bleed. That's pretty awesome. Might have to get these for the ol' kit once I get it out of storage, along with some new triggers, M'yah?
Also, you gotta show me how to do that bahee magic.
3:10-4:30, So this is what it would sound like if Samus was a one man Drum Core band haha. Good stuff
Just a little FYI for people looking to get mesh heads like these or any for that matter! If you have a mesh head on your bass drum.. absolutely DO NOT use a felt beater on your kick pedal! The felt of the beater over time actually will wear away and eat straight through the mesh head. So either replace the beater with a different one, or do what Samus did, and get a bass drum patch. Also, for all your heads on your snare and toms this one isn't AS necessary, but try to use sticks with nylon tips as opposed to plain wooden ones. The wooden tips will wear as you play (DUH!) and as they do little pieces chip off, they split, splinter, etc. and when this happens you are also going to be damaging the mesh head!
Just wanted to put this out there so someone doesn't spend a bunch of money on these heads only to destroy them in record time and not know why LMAO!
Noice demonstration there Samus. Damn shame that there's no 8" mesh heads available yet but hey, at least they're bahee approved.
THEY ARE NOW AVALIABLE IN 8” and 18”!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
wow mixing with this must be awesome, all cymbal through the overheads
@@fischanton4692 well yeah, you shouldn't be miking up shells with mesh heads in the first place. they are used for low volume practice. of course they would sound horrible acoustically 😂
Honestly, this makes the drum kit look more nice. It's all black now, and I love that color.
I like it black. Just like my metal.
Without the triggers you have a perfect black metal kit!
If samus alive during early 1900s. People would pay him to just push the foot pedal on their sewing machines.
Damn dude. Your a badass drummer man. You deserve all the support you’re getting. Keep going. Never stop.
I literally was just looking up some mesh heads for my kit. because I live in a apartment. and the first thing that came up was this video. My cav is now satisfied 👌
Will definitely give these heads a try, thanks Samus!!!
I have the silent stroke remos on my kit. I had to put tape on them to help resonate the sound because without it, there's barely any tone. These would be a nice upgrade.
When you put the part with only mics i realized: holy shit no more bleeding between drums and cymbals. The time sparing in mixing. It's awesome.
Samus low key found the solution if the soundproofing in the new house isn't enough should the new neighbors be bahobs about his playing lol
Just had these delivered, can't wait to throw them on and give them a test drive. Killer video, thanks!
You know it's good when it makes you giggle
I have the Black Holes and they’re a game changer for my silent practice. Combined with the Sabian QuietTone cymbals and it’s perfection.
These work great for your triggers.
Realistically, how quiet are these? Is anbody outside is going to hear my bass drum on blast beasts?
The resonance on the snare drum is absolute ZEX
Absolutely brilliant review and a great product I’m using the ultra thick heads from drumtec with my low volume cymbals and a Yamaha ead with triggers in my loft as my practice kit they feel great but I’d like them to feel as close as possible to my acoustic kit that I take to the studio and gig and practice with the band with …if these feel even more like acoustic and I get some tone I’ll swap them out …thanks
I'd love to have heard this full video with the full kit sound. Some of those fills were tasty
You're such a great drummer, Sam
Awesome! Soooo good, presentation! When this video become public, I will share it with my drum companion! I don't play drums! *(guitar)* 👍👏
May need some of these for my traps kit, already have the Sabina quiet cymbals
Samus, you are a Master-beater, the king of master-beation.
I bow....kneel.
Acoustic conversions are the way to go if you want to go electronic on the cheap (until you start getting Roland accessories). I found you can crank the heads down and get less spongy hits with 3ply mesh at the cost of a little extra volume. Double triggering is a big problem with the larger mesh 16"+ but seems to be fixed with the addition of Remo muffle rings (though my triggers are internal center mounted). Most modules are two zone for each drum except the kick (rim/head), which can be split with a special drumsplitter cable (regular wont work) allowing you to expand your kit with a low-end module (provided you don't do rim shots). For apartment living, you are pretty much safe with mesh kit except the beaters will still deliver a thumping noise to your downstairs neighbor in cases where the floor isn't concrete. Not as loud as a full on acoustic kit, but might still raise an issue.
Bro your double strokes are so crazy I thought they were fake until I went down to 25% speed
Awesome, I know what I'm getting for my kit...just need the size 8. 🤘😎🤘
3:30 reminds me of King Diamond - Welcome Home! Would love to see you take that one on in a cover!
Exactly what I did at my last apartment. Had to use more muffling though 😅
Those are nice mesh heads!!
Sounds great!
Thanx bud! :D
1:53 THIS LOOKS FUN ALREADY HAHAHAH
I was looking for this exact thing for my kick but there didn’t seem to be any anywhere I looked! Thanks!
Probably good for training accuracy as well👌
Great review, & the Cable Guy reference at the end .. nice
Drum-tec make some pretty killer mesh heads you may want to look into in the future maybe you could nab one of their 8" pro heads to pair with this set so you could have your full setup its a thick single ply head and comes in black and this also has abit of drum volume so I think it would pair well the rest of your current heads
Tantataaa is my favourite bass drum dimension.
Loving the Slipknot snare!
Joey snare*
6:02 Derek Roddy vibes incoming
They sound pretty good on their own it could be a very cool sound effect
Lol) 2:58 When such music comes in it usually means someone gonna be eaten soon))
Those are some clean doubles 6:30
Sweet demo 👍🤘🤘🤘
These would work perfectly
Wow, they are cheap! I got another brand with the same configuration, (had to buy one additional separate) and those run anout 10-15 more. I essentially got mine free, as I bought an open box set of Low volume cymbals, with the heads included, and the price was less than the cymbals alone new. But if I need to replace, I'll definitely consider these.
I have cymbal and drum mutes that are really good by sound percussion
I vibed too hard to the tom grooves 😂
this is awesome! would have loved to hear the heads mic'ed! how can one practice with these head but not have the cymbals overpower the drum volume? i do a lot of intricate cymbal work so....the cymbal stuff in electronics or muting scenarios is like losing half of my chops..............
samuss!!!! your drumming is absolutly fantastic!! even when you get new drumheads!! yup?? anyway hope your summer is going great and I just turned 52 not.............................. 22!!!!! Rock on Cheer!!
Could be great for tracking
You could use the rack tomcas a floor tom and gave a lars ulrich setup
Sitting in the airport right now. Watching Samus really helps! ❤️🤘🏼👍🥁
I have that joey jordison snare. It's a powerhouse
Theres a few mesh heads that hangout at the circle k down the street
His double bass holy
I'm sure he looked at his new drum heads with excitement... and then it disappeared when he looked at his kit when he realized he had to take it apart just to put it back together
The shot where u vacuumed da heads was funny
I love Gear drum review 😁
Ohhh yurr!
Im waiting for mine for at least 2 months now 😂
Hey Samus, I have a suggestion for you.
What would your kit sound like, if all cymbals were classics custom extreme-metal?
More videos on gear, hardware, and accessories please
If these heads have more rebound and give, they may help your wrists. That they are quieter is just a plus I guess. Although when they weren't triggered I heard a little rattle from the largest rack tom. Looking at the overhead shot it looks like it may have been rubbing rims with the middle rack tom. I may be hearing things, like 22.
Rubbing rims. 😎👍🏻
Keeping the tone is key and quiter?? Wow! My neighbors might think I’m dead if they don’t hear me beating, hammering and beating some more. Now about the drums ohwhurrre lol 😂 lol 😂
You’re a trip man! Love the vids!!
Some weeks ago I asked on the chat of a live transmission if buying a set of silentstrokes and a set of red shot triggers sounded like a good idea to start my home studio (I live in an apartment). The answer sort of is in this video now, so I have just bought this set of mesh heads. As for the triggers, I think I can't afford the Chrome Elite or even the Pro yet, as I still need to buy a lot of things for my project; however, I haven't had any bad experience with the integrated Red Shot ones in my ddrum hybrid snare, so I'll try that set. Thanks for the review and the discount code. SEX!
Okay, I just bought some, they better be cool. 😘
Great mesh heads👍
Sounds like marching practice lol. Great stuff
Ooooh I was waiting for this 😁😁😁
That's how you make a review video watchable in full length!!!!! at least for me.
(Even tho i do enjoy your other videos).
this should be your new "a "proper" explanation of drum triggers" video
Samus is just a beast, throw any head or drum kit at him and hear the shmizl unleash
Well done Lad
Dude you are awesome!
God damn it I tried to make exactly these about 3 months before this video came out, I bought expensive dual ply heads and scrapped a bass drum head to glue circles of drumhead plastic in the centre of each one. Massively expensive & only lasted a week before the heads were cracked & ruined. The lesson I learnt was don't put gorilla glue on expensive mesh heads... these look great though.
are they better than the evans ec2s? those are definitely my favorite, they outdo pinstripes and everything. im using a 2sided mesh coated reverse dot for a snare batter but I want to try an Evans HD Dry at some point. was going to ask can you do a review on the attack bass drum resonant head (you know the one that has all the holes for one ply and one for the other thats sposed to give great punch
Lmao. Goddamn it samus you’re so fucking hilarious. Love your channel. Thanks for like... being you... and stuff.
HEY SAMUS I recently saw your black hole video and considered getting those, but could you do a video explaining how to trigger these using the blackhole triggers?
That was so fun to watch
These look awesome! Definitely buying some. Are you still using the same bottom heads?
Netflix- “are you still watching?” Someone’s daughter- 0:00 again
Mine are supposed to be in on Wednesday. Most of the silent cymbals have arrived. I haven't played drums in almost 7 years. Kinda scared to get back into it.
6:29 yes
Dammit man, you've caused sweetwater to run out of stock 😂
I'm seriously excited about trying these, thanks for the info
Just ordered mine. Used your promo code brah
66Samus.. brilliant review.. trying to get these delivered to India. Do they have 13'' drum heads coz .. coz the mapex tornado comes with a 12 and 13 inch toms..
You use mesh heads with triggers for decrease the noise and DB of the kit or to make them more presice sound in every hit?? You suggest it as a solution with lower volume kit and better sound? Why you didn't put inside the toms ,floors and snare some clothes or foam to lowering more the noise??Thank you for sharing these awesome mesh heads info with all us!!
Awesome video .. unfortunately RTOM do not ship to India .. Could u review the Trusound low volume drumheads and compare them to the RTOM ones
Hi Sam
If you’re triggering your sounds through superior or ezdrummer, what are the Tom’s and snare you are using?
Would you consider switching out the mesh heads on the Donner E-kit with these, just to improve the feel?
Samus please review the new evans db one mesh heads. Luv to get your opinion vs the rtom heads 👍
Coming soon :)
@@66Samus sweet.. like the RToms because i can keep the mylar heads on, but rubber rims height dont like. Its my low volume kit anyways so would like to switch to the rtom lv heads or the evans once you do your magic with them ✌️. I’m sure they would trigger ok 🤞
My normal kit I’ll play to aggitate my wife 😱
Slow head works for me
Sweet water has packs for around $75 I believe. Not too bad.
Machine Gun Samus
Weird Al Jesus can rock that kit!!!! Damn!!
Nice!!
Hey! New to your channel, congrats for your work man! I just wanted to ask your opinion, would you recommend these heads or the Evans db one?
both, hahaha!
I bet I'd still get noise complaints lol I got noise complaints from my vdrums in my apartment. I told them to lick my cav 😂
Apartments, flats, etc, especially when populated, and drums don't do well.
Try ground-floor accomodation when possible, avoid the central parts of the development, and huge courtyards.
Underneath your rug, carpet put some thick yoga mats too, but ideally a house would be better. Keep up the good work mate
you're a beast!
