Awesome stuff dude! I’ve been using an electronic kit for home practice and hate everything about it, looks like this could be a better alternative 🤘🏻
Yeah of course I have
Mesh heads on acoustic drums, with triggers, and low volume cymbals with triggers, into your Edrum module, and you’re in business. You get the feel of playing acoustic drums and cymbals, at a small fraction of the noise, and you also get to hear the drum module through headphones or whatever. Best practice decision I ever made.
@Jami Asbury dude how much was that?? The entire thing? I want to do something like this too could you break it down for me?
@Ayshin 65 drums has a few really good videos. plenty of detail.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who spent all that money on an electric kit and hated it immediately lol
Wow--your double bass speed and precision is outrageous!
Double bass almost sounds like Looney Tunes character running 😂
Lol yeah or like Stewie Griffin
Lmao the LT pit is a fast one
And also doubles as wardrobe!
You make everything sound and look cool man, all brands should send you their stuff. Great video, you rock as always!
wow thank you!!
If you're wondering why the gloves, it's not to protect his hands but to protect the drums from where his hands have been..
hahaha!!
Oh yurr
Ah, ya knoooooowwwww.....
If you say so.
😂😂 I don't want to know where they've been
Sic man, been watching you off and on now for a few years and your playing is getting tighter and tighter man, really getting to that elite level of drumming. Keep up the good work!
Haha I can hear the impact of the stick over the actual sound of the cymbals lol that's great! Could've used those about 10 years ago when the drummer in my old band and myself got kicked out of the house we were renting because our band practices were too loud😂😂😂 apparently, the neighbors didn't like thrashy tech-death🤷
Every time I watch these drum videos it makes me want to get a drum kit. It looks so much fun.
what holds you back? :D about 4m² are enough and a cheap drumkit outfitted with those heads and cymbals does not cost a fortune.
@UsefulMuffinCat what’s holding me back is I don’t have enough room in my bedroom and my parents won’t let me buy one.
except the part where you have to spend 12 days setting up the kit...
Do it!!
Dude get the Alesis nitro mesh electronic kit. It's a decent starter kit for 350 bucks, it's compact and will fold up so you can stow it when not drumming. Use headphones and you won't bother anyone. Don't let parents hold back your passion.
I swear you're one of the cleanest metal playing drummers I've ever seen. Wish I had your skills!
This is such an ace product. This could easily be great for rock rehearsals. No need to go home with tinnitus after rehearsal. No need for the electric kit, but still feels closer to a real set.
Also:Not seen your channel for a while. Man you’re looking like the younger version of Chris Adler with the cool long beard and hair. Super awesone look 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I've been looking for some low volume cymbals for my practice kit but none of the companies that you'd normally think of have the exact cymbal sizes in a single pack that I'd want. These are exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks for this video!
WOW they sound great and your an amazing drummer bro 👍🏻 it’s a dream to even have a drum kit like you have it look so cool 🥹nice job
These heads also come in slightly cheaper than other similar tier mesh heads and are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Aquarian Superpads with a full set (3 tom, snare and kick batters) coming in at $139-150
Just found this channel and I love it, my grandpa is a drummer and it's awesome to see some of the more detailed aspects of it, super entertaining :)
thank you!!
I tried these on display drums at a Guitar Center. I never knew about these, they rock
Today I changed my snare with an Evans soundoff drumhead! The sound is awesome! I always play with Remo drumheads but, Evans doesn't disappoint me 😎
The Bass drums surprisingly sounded like drum pads and sure is quiet. loving the silent heads they made.
these low volume cymbals are my favorite out of about 10 brands. Why? the stick definintion is glorious, and the resonance and tone are loud enough to mic-up with overheads, and maybe hat/ride mics, then use in combination with edrumns~
Loved it ! I have the first version of these on my dw for apartment living reasons ! On the triggers they sounded freaking dope. !! Hey I gotta ask the cymbal above the dark classic splash what series and size is it ? Loved the sound of it
That's crazy, I'd need to hear them irl before buying them for my apartment though, I just can't fathom them being silent enough for that
go to Guitar center. they usually have a set on display with the mesh heads and low volume cymbals you can play. i played them and bought the whole set up the same day after playing it
Not American, but I'll probably find them on display somewhere
I mean, pretty sure unless you have a million rugs underneath people below you will hear the pedals and kick that shit aint quiet even
@DinoNuggies They reckon the Roland noise eater mats are good for reducing that but they're expensive as balls.
@DinoNuggies Thankfully I'll be on the ground floor soon, I hope that'll be enough
So rad!!! REALLY need this set up. Been almost almost 10 years since I’ve been able to play. A bit outta my budget tho, but thanks for the video, now I have something to look forward to!
Best “low volume” review ever! Loved it when u put the real cymbals back in!
I just watched another You Tuber demonstrating the exact same Evans product (I already placed an order for an old, designated practice set) But I wish to say your demos were SO MUCH FU&KING BETTER ! ! You demonstration, your skills and of course your awesome super funny personality!
that's very nice of you to say, thank you
Id just prefer the cymbals to be a couple octaves lower but otherwise they do sound fantastic. I was really curious about the sound wth the holes line they have haha
I love the heads except for the snare head. I'm not a heavy player, yet after about a month of daily use, the snare head had strands of the mylar break-away and dangle inside the drum. Sweetwater replaced it. There's no way to turn off the snare if you want to. As an experiment, I put the 14" tom head (ordered separately) on my snare drum, and it sounds incredible! It's super loud coming through the EAD 10, but that can be adjusted. It's way better than the dB One snare head. The Remo 14" Silent Stroke is better on the snare than the Evans dB One snare head.
It sounds super crispy if you put a heavy hat bottom with one of those half sound tops. I used a GenZ. Sounds fantastic.
I already have a quiet mesh kit I pieced together and this perfectly answered my question about using triggers.
you drum the toms so fast that i can hear an actually easily perceivable pitch changing as you go back and forth. pretty cool
Those are so awesome would have saved me a ton in sound proofing my garage 😂
Bloody hell dude, that's friggin killer. Kids these days got 'er made I tells ya. Back in my day we had to use those pads on top of the drums and cymbals and they sounded like smacking a piece of rubber foam crap with a stick. Love it.
Dude! That was a helluva drum solo you did at the end 🤘. I didn't understand why you needed the rubber gloves to change out the drum heads. I don't remember seeing you use those before.
The cymbals sound pretty dam good when you hit 'em harder. They don't just ping, they actually open up pretty well.
The cymbals sound great! I think my Remo Silent Stroke heads sound better than the heads, though! Thanks for the demo!
These grooves are sample worthy!
The sound off those cymbals is really satisfying. Maybe because they are quiet enough that you can pick out the sound of the stick on the mic, especially your overheads. Juicy.
This dude is like the metal-god version of Weird-Al and I'm here for it.
hahaha thank you very much!
I don't really know much about drumming, but your skills are superb.
Awesome video. I have a set of these as well. What triggers are you using with these?
Loved the Portnoy Under as Glass Moon groove thrown in there!!!!
So my 🥁Drummer will hit 80% Harder while I'm trying to tune my BASS🎸 ... Perfect
They were already going as hard as possible, but when they sit down on this kit, they get that emotional strength that lets moms lift cars.
Get a pedal tuner or plug you bass into the tuner, stop being an amateur
Protip, use the lights /screen on your tuner xD
@Dusty Roadz 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Definitely have to try these out😊👌 sounds awesome and so much less db😃👍
Thanks again for good tip video😊👊🏻
Sorry if this is unrelated, but i love your username
If Vulfpeck gets ahold of these they're going to hit yet another new level.
Really not a fan of that snare head but I’m definitely going to try them out
These heads are very cool. Imma have to look into them to keep quiet in my apartment. Can you do a video on the best marching snare and tenor drums please?
Unreal buddy. Udaman. 👏👏Thankx very much for a perfect demo of the heads. And they seem excellent for triggering 👍
Btw, the snare head is ingenious… ooof
Man, really happy you reviewed these dude. Really would like to have a real kit in my apartment.
Those heads should make mixing overheads and room mics a dream!
I wonder if my neighbor would like to buy me these.
Also really enjoyed your playing. Sounded amazing with your usual cymbals.
Just watched your Greyson Nekrutman video and you mentioned how he could boss a blast beat. Just so you know...he has a video of him playing Bleed by Meshuggah in full suit and traditional grip. You know...just in case you're interested.
Excellent video BTW. As matter of interest, what module are you using for the triggers please, or are you firing off via the D Drum triggers toontrack etc? cheers!
Samus…. Your foot speed is crazy!! Have you always had that speed and dexterity?? Thanx for the content Brother!!
It sounds pretty good in my headphones ... i loved the tone
I use the Sabian version heads and cymbals on my kit and I love them.
Do you do any processing on your overhead tracks to remove the drumhead hits? If so, how do you do it? Or are the mesh heads quiet enough to where the samples themselves will mask them?
what do you mean drumhead hits?
@Carter Hi Carter, I mean the actual sound of the stick hitting the head that is picked up by the overhead mics. When using drum samples and blending them with the overheads, you sometimes have to do EQ tricks to lessen the volume of those hits so they don't come across in the mix. Just curious about Samus' technique in doing so
Late to the party, but would I be alright using these heads without any resonant heads? I've got a shallow kit I've built that I'm thinking to use as a practice kit but don't fancy buying resonant heads to accompany mesh batters at their price point
These are cool. I wish that these came out before I bought all the remo silent strokes and zildjian L80’s 😕
Bummer
1 legged drummer here. Ok, we heard it. Now, please don't ever do that again. Never muffle that beautiful drum kit. The louder you play the better. Love your sound. Take it easy brother. SEX !!! PEACE✌
I definitely will say the cymbals are the only thing out of this that sounds good imo, but if you needed something silent for an apartment where you cant be loud, they work..
I love Evans! I've been using EC2s for years
the snare actually sounds really good for like tribal stuff
I was thinking that too. Think it'd be perfect as a Low Fi 2nd snare
5:44, I can hear you play under the glass moon light by dream theater. It’s a iconic drum beat Mike Portnoy create in his prime time.
At 7:55 I'm pretty sure he is also playing Lions Den by MORBID ANGEL. Very iconic and recognizable as well.
My thoughts exactly
Dream Theatre pretty over rated thooo
Sometimes inforget that he Is a very good drummer, the foto work Is super smooth!
Nice new stuff man your drum set is cool I love it
The sooner everyone starts buying these- the sooner other cymbals will start being available
Samus idk if you know how happy it makes me to see the acoustic kit again
Holy shit Capt Caveman's double drumming is insane!
hahaha thank you dude
I thought they sounded really strange at first, but I got used to it as you played.
Hey, Samus.. Please excuse my tardiness to this review.. Anyway, i aways like when u get new drum accessories so i can listen to your killer little jam session.. For Not being a drummer myself.. I think the heads and cymbals provide Great clean sound quality.. Also i find it really awesome, as u mentioned how it accommodates and gives the convenience for those drummers that live in a close quarters environment.. Lastly, your sound test jam session was Sick man it sounded so clean and insane.. Just my style. thanks buddy..💀🤘
Love that little bit of Under a Glass Moon there 5:45 onwards
Like the channel you are the main reason i picked up sticks i was playing guitar for 18 yrs and not looking back.
I think it was made for 22er's! Will try these heads, as a big time Evans guy.
2:49 These sound really good...very quiet. 😆
👍
Curious compared to Zildjan's L80's and Drumtec real feels. I got these. Only thing that I want to get a better feeling of is my kickdrum.
I want this in my drum kit, and I don't even own one. I'm not even a drummer xD
I like the cymbals, they sound decent for LV cymbals, plus they look cool.
I don’t know why I’m laughing so hard at the fact he was wearing surgical gloves to put the heads on. 😂 great demo btw
To be honest, I did not like those own sound, except symbals... But with triggers sounds very good (what a shocker :D ) . Of course those are handy in apartment, but needs triggers :)
2:26 sounds like an hip Hop drum sound. The bass and snare though.
Can we get an "Reduced Remo Heads and Sabian Cymbals" like these pls?
nice play bro as always!!! what triggers do you use on bass drum??
thank you!!!! axis e-kits :)
I wonder if there is a splash and china of the silent cymbals. That would be cool. 🤘
Are you the best drummer in the world? Amazing!
nowhere close, but thank you haha
Evans did it again! These will work for my house and my neighbors won't hate me! Sex!
Snare sounds good (loudness wise) but I want the rest of the heads just as loud. Then again, I would take any head, right about now! o_O
Gotta love being the drummer. My buddies can go out, smoke 1, write a song and come back guess what.. I’m still setting up 🤣
Jeeezzz dude, you save my life. I've search for a mute drum, now I know that's Works so good. Thanks a lot
Sick bro. Idk if I could support something that doesn't piss off everything in a 30 mile radius though. Can you do a Lorna Shore cover?
Hi, first time here. What is the module you use to generate the sounds from your triggers? Sounds great.
DDRUM ddti, plugged into EZdrummer3 for the sounds :)
@66Samus thx 🙏
NOW we finally see a proper test of this heads! thanks!
Do you find there is more springback on the bass heads compared to standard mylar? I have the remo mesh heads on my kit and had to adjust the springs on my speedcobras because they would fly back and shin kick me.
7:26 That's a tasty Igor Cavalera / Sepultura type groove =)
Nice products for the quiet as well!
To me its pulling on the strings of your mytyr by Trivium!! 🤘
Seems cool saving the ears and keeping lousy neighbors from complaining... so much.
Wow dude, you keep your kick drums stuffed. When you showed the heads off of the kicks, I thought it was going to be a joke about using then as dirty clothes hampers😄.
Awesome review video.
SEX
Yes, take the stuffing out of the Bass drums.. I bet it’ll sound way better
7:25 awesome groove
Hey Samus. Do you think you'd ever go back to normal heads on your main kit again?
WHY NO 8 INCH!? 😤
Lol. Either way can't wait to get my hands on these lol.
Thank you for the demo Samus! 🤘
get an 8" Soundoff head and the nylon impact patch. Very similar for such a small drum.
Samus if you didn’t care about volume which would you prefer to play and trigger: evan db one or the rtom lv ?
Did you stuff those kicks on your own or did they recommend that? I am asking because I have a set of these on the way.
I got the "Under a glass moon" vibe near the end :D
Sir 666... brilliant as always.. any suggestions on cymbal triggers.
Any idea how these will sound with the Yamaha EAD10
Also what drum software and interface do u normally use
Hope to hear from u soon
Never tried cymbal triggers before, just electronic cymbals.
Also never tried the Yamaha module.
Interface: focusrite 18i20
Software: Cakewalk by Bandlabs
drum samples: EZdrummer
:)
