I think the biggest issue is the map aesthetics. Most maps don’t make you feel like a 20 meter tall robot. This extends to customization. Recolouring the suits is just free money for Bandai. (Ex: Red Zaku) It also feels like some of the abilities should be better tailored to that specific MS, and that a lot of very recognizable MS with enough material for full kits were left out. The main suit I think should’ve been added was the Gouf. -Whip (Ability) -Sword (Primary) -Shield (Ability) -Gun hand (Primary) It literally has two abilities, and a dual primary setup built-in. Probably the best mech in the early UC from the perspective of a unique moveset.
All the criticism on how this game doesn't feel like controlling a slow giant robot. The truth is the gundams from the animes are far from slow and unmaneuverable they're dynamic and fast like Gundam Evolution's gameplay.
That's true, most highly advanced MS or Gundams were like that in the anime Especially from shows like, Wing, G Gundam, Seed, Unicorn, IBO and 00. They all moved with a feel that didn't always seem mech like. This is especially true IBO and G Gundam as their cockpits were design for more flexible movement or had systems in place for better control. The only thing for GEVO I can think of is that the walls and builds were human looking sized as if the mechs were small like that.
Fromsoft made Gundam Unicorn PS3 and Another Century's Episode series which feature Gundam series before, unfortunately both of them are Japan exclusives
@@elk3407 at this point might as well let them make gundam games again, judging by how gunevo is right now, and bandai’s current inability to either make quality gundam games, or inability to commit to making and maintaining a good gundam game.
Even having in-battle mech wounds that can impair their abilities not too far behind a death, could've been enough at least to make it more unique and mech-like. Imagine having to worry about losing a limb by taking focused damage to a part of the mech. That'd add tactical depth too: finding out which mech parts are most vulnerable to different foes, and being careful not to be crippled badly by your foe. I can also see tactics of a ambush to cripple key members of the opponents enough to soften their line and enhance your allies' attack. On the other hand: if your ally is important and gets crippled, like for example: nearly dies, loses a leg, you could intervene, give themselves a chance to heal, and even if they don't have a way to repair their crippled leg enough, despite losing a leg and having their mobility lowered a hefty amount (and probably having their max health cut a bit too), they keep persevering and pushing on to tip the scales. Reminds me a bit of TF2 in some ways, with the whole "I ain't going down without bringing you lot down with me!" kind of stuff that the TF2 mercs can end up doing in-game (often last-ditch Melee brawling). As for the chance that someone tries to softlock someone by crippling, having a self-destruct option can fix that. I mean, being crippled into a defenseless state is much the same as being killed, except the opponent let you heal so they can cripple you further. May as well self-destruct 'cause you should already be dead.
it was the matchmaking that killed it for me, I was a sucker for everything else, but I literally could barely play without getting destroyed every game.
The game is amazing the issue is poor marketing if they released the game world wide on launch and payed a ton of ow streamers to play it be popping off rn
TBH, the currency and gacha system is a really big turnoff but the biggest reason is that the bandai never really WANTED to fix the game enough to NOT shut the game down
The loot boxes were worse in that more often than not you would get stuff for mobile suits you couldn't even use, and it might have been nice to have a chance ,even if miniscule, to unlock a mobile suit from a lootbox, and gaining currency to unlock mobile suits just took far too long.
I liked the game, but I was sick of waiting 10 minutes to get into a game. Play a round for 2 minutes, then a single player leaves the server and the entire round is over. And this is during the time when I’m trying to have a bit of fun between getting off from work and going to bed.
0:39 boost dash + movement ability is more engaging than what OW had. OW doesn't have many melee characters. Disable mechanic rewards good positioning. 0:48 designed things aren't random. 1:34 in terms of game feel, GunEvo lacks the individual polish OW Heroes has. 1:39 yes it does, and the map design is larger because of it, OW heroes will stuggle in GunEvo map because they don't have the mobility. 2:20 did you forgot people are trying to get away from OW? 2:51 just curious, is the monetization obviously bad during beta? Did the 4000mp point seem reasonable at the time? 0:39 I said twice in the video that I was a fan of the dash/boost mechanic. But it's in no way a feature that's strong enough to make itself unique in the genre. 0:48 The games design offers nothing to entice people to come into the game. When I say "random bargain bin game" it's because with how little it innovated, who in the general gaming public cares. 1:34 Plays "like" as in "similar". As in one can still play better than the other but the overall feel is the same. 1:39 Take any map that has higher platforms and replace those jumping platforms with a stair case and it's no different then overwatch. If you want to talk about multiplatform verticality, Overwatch has Dorado, Junker town and Gibraltar to name a few. If you want to talk about Larger map size. Never felt that way. They may be a tad wider but you're still gonna run into the enemy team just as quickly. 2:20 I'm talking about the release of Overwatch 2? A year ago when people still cared? 2:51 Yes, it was always bad. The battle pass especially cause what was offerered was TERRIBLE. Who'd want to spend money on that? Even when it wasn't overpriced, it was overvalued. 3:12 Horrible example. I play fighting games religiously. I even say it in the video. Day One Street Fighter is totally different from Year 1. Look at 6. Look at how different that game is even though it's only been out for 2 months! The way that game changed competitively is insane!!! THAT's my point. I was able to hop back on Gundam in almost A YEAR and I was MVP most of my matches!!! I'm not a gundam evo prodigy or some first person shooter expert. But the game changed that little over time. There's little to no self improvement involved if I can pick up a character. Play for a couple of days, dip, then come back and be on top. 3:37 Street Fighter added quality of life features such as allowing easier inputs for drive rush. And added modes such as "freak fight" (I forgot the name but I know that's what people call it lol) and extreme battle. 6:14 I'm glad your experience was easy going, but look around online man and you can see most people don't share that sentiment. I can tell you're a fan of this game man and I wish that Bandai Namco didn't drop the ball on this like they did. I had alot of fun with it. But most people just don't care about it. Look at my comments. Look at reviews. I liked the game a lot and I in no way think it's a "bad" game. Just got dealt a shitty hand with it's developer.
The main reason why its dead is because its not truly gundam at all, its simply an OW wannabe clone. As a gundam fan who loves gundams as a whole this game was a huge slap to the nutsack for me. No skill based matchmaking instead youre lobbied with bots and or rage quitters who join up just to rage out instantly than sending everyone back to the lobby constantly. And if you are lucky to get into a lobby 98% of the matches are one sided asf with you dying alot because the other team is packed full of sweats who don't go outside enough and are probably vampires by this point. Taking one step outside would turn them to ash guaranteed. The community helped kill it aswell not just bandai namco because if people didnt sweat on casual players and new players alike it would've stayed more relevant for at least a solid 3 maybe 4 years. Im honestly glad its being shutdown though. Never bought anything for it so i didn't lose anything unlike 90% of everyone else who rushed to be the gundam cuck of the evolution.
I agree that The Costs of the extras is what really Killed me. I'm a huge Gundam fan...and while I wasn't really great at this game....A)Felt that the Price of Everything. Battle Pass, New Suits...all of it was too much. then b)So yea, I paid for the battle pass. But it only become worth it if I spend my every waking hour playing so I can get to the Worthwhile rewards at the end of the pass. and C) It seemed like if you wanted to do real well at the game, you had to buy the New Mobile Suits cuz they seemed stronger and had better skills than the starters. So Pay to Win. Bandai Namco basically killed this the same as they were doing with Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2. They keep adding new suits....that are the least known random suits half the time, Said suits are better and Stringer and allow you to win more......And they are making it cost more with thier lottery system to even get them. So in that game you could spend $100 and still not get the suit you want.
Honestly, I hope these assets get reused for an actually good Gundam FPS; there was a foundation here but Bandai does not know how to build on it without trying to monetize every fucking thing
GE was trying too hard to go for Overwatch, they should have tried to be TF2 more just as the Overwatch creators did. GE was missing the certain something, the hook that would make you want to stay and enjoy the gameplay. As a Gundam fan, it was off for me how the game felt and it was not rewarding enough for me to stick around after i played some rounds.
The nail in the coffin for me was the fact that you don't even earn free currency from playing the game. You have to do your dailies just to earn it and once you're done with that what next? Do the shitty Battle Pass?
Dailies didn’t even earn you money, they earned you battle pass progress. Each pass you could earn 2000 money and that was barely enough for a new suit per season, which is 1 suit every 3 months.
i really hat that this game is going to go. I just recently (like two weeks ago) started to get better at the game. I did stop playing for a bit because I just didn't get the fact that I had to change my in-game settings (mouse settings) to control the suits better.

Ever since it came out. I loved the game and still playing it to this day. I’m a gundam fan and yes it’s a clone wish it wasn’t gonna play it till the very end. I regret and glad I download the game. I personally never play the game I would like to. But yeah I understand that nobody wanted to play it anymore cause it didn't look like having a lot of fun mode and by watching videos I never felt like the guy was piloting a giant futuristic robot
Something that I think could’ve saved this game is optional abilities. The gundam wasn’t limited to only its beam rifle, it also had a rocket launcher. The turn A had a hyper hammer. The sazabi had a giant beam shotgun in it’s torso. The unicorn had a javelin, giant claw, essentially a flamethrower, and missiles for days. The exia had a gun. The Dom could blind it’s opponent. There’s so much the devs could’ve done
Well one thing that didn't help is the season 1 bugs the devs didn't fix... oh but yeah they can add MOAR ugly skins in the shop though... Couldn't even really play because the bugs, then the game was region locked so allot of people COULDN'T play. It had potentially even if it was an overwatch clone...but let's be real, it's not like there aren't OTHER overwatch clones... R-Right? ...
Not only killed the game, but my interest in Gundam. Because of this game. I became a Gundam fan over night. I started watching some of the anime. I got a figure. Hell I even got the Gundam gamer fuel mix. But after they shut down Gundam Evolution. All my interest in Gundam ended. It was such a fun game & nothing comes close. Gundam battle operation 2 is a atrocious game. Its so boring, slow, long matching time, clunky, and beyond dull. Its like a crap PS2 game. Nothing will ever come close to Gundam Evolution. The best Gundam Game there was. (ohkay the lootboxes, unlocking characters, & over all monetization was terrible. Japanese devs need to drop these scummy old lootboxes.)
I got SO MUCH flak for bashing the shitty battle pass. Mf redditors defending the BP like it was totally fair as a free pass. Shit was a huge grind as a free user. Could never reach the second Capital Point tier.
this game is so cool, the implement of boost system is epic in a fast pacing fps game, connection problem can be simply solved just no players gonna to do it and they casually go to make bad review lol. answer is, use the bandai namco launcher . why nobody do it? coz they simply hate the game then go to write bad review than return to their old games, its not their cup of tea, many gundam fans cant play high pacing game especially high pacing fps games, and many other people are ow fans who dont only hate gun evo because it look like ow (from their view, but they are different actually, totally), they cant play well in gun evo too and then they hate this game more, coz both game is far different like earth and venus. and there are tons of fps game players from cod, cs, etc are not willing to play fps but with gundam outlook and mechanics, boost system, special abilities system. only those experienced fps players who love gundams are really willing to spend their time on this game and learning how to play this game. excuses made by these people are just amazing, such as "pay to win" vs "barbatos is op" [but barbatos is free]... < the truth is barbatos is not op and the game is not pay to win.. which mean these people just made false accusement. other example, since day one, youtubers/players : guntank is weak, its at tier c. vs in the reality guntank is a killing machine in this game, it can hunt down the barbatos, exia, pretty easy, if you know how to dodge which mean if you are not only using the way you play ow, cod, etc but had learn how to use the boost system in gun evo. guntank is free too. anybody say this game is pay to win are just fool. my best kill streak record by using guntank, not kill count record, is the kill streak record, is more than 40, which mean I dont even die once and kill more than 40 robots, while youtubers told people guntank is weak since day one and they put guntank at tier c lol, kill count is around 80 I think. the point is, this is not a overwatch genre game, gundam evolution is at a unique genre which the market is not enough for it to survive. I have 2 accounts, one acc is over lv 150 and other one is over lv 100, around 1750hrs playtime, I know how to dodge the "infamous op barbatos" before I reached lv 5 I guess, just press the damn boost button right before barbatos do that high altitude smash thing.. its more real then gbo2, you need reflex to do it, like a pilot in the anime. the most difficult thing to dodge in this game is the electricity eel attack of marasai I have to say, you can only dodge it before it launch the electricity eel, coz its too late if you start to dodge it after the attack had launched, which mean, once you see a marasai, you dodge immediately.. marasai is the only op suit (in 1 on 1 situation) in this game and no haters notice it.
no console crossplay or crossplay in genreal game felt so wierd to play controls on console were soooooooooo bad and skins were just recolours not appealing at all
Didnt even get to play it due to anti cheat cock blocking linex steamdeck users But right from the beginning seeing these god like gundams get killed in 2 hits is never going to make sense No flight And generic season cash shop bullshit as usual
Flight was a thing, and most machines in the show *do* get one shot, those beam rifles are effectively handheld battleship cannons in lore. The game *could* have had better vertical thrusters for sure, but every unit can hover and boost just fine, it’s what sets the game apart from other OW clones.
Live service literally killed this game..imagine if we can grind exp and money just by playing matches, engaging with the community, joining with a clan etc.
Oh that one? It’s peer-to-peer so if you’re not in NA or EU, you’re guaranteed to get banned for 2 hours because you’re in indonesia and Indihome disconnected you. Last i check, “overwhelmingly negative” is apparently a good reason for bandai to celebrate 5 years of GBO2 (and completely gloss over GE)
Have you seen the cheater on GBO2 for PC moving at double speed, using beam sabers that are longer than his normal ones, and can also fly in the air with infinite boost on ground missions ..oh this is also a GM btw. He apparently can summon Mobile Armors in mid combat like some kind of final fantasy character. Lol his name's King GM...

players are greed, I paid none, playtime over 1750hrs. game is not pay to win and game gives enough of free credits for players to unlock most of the suits
a gundam game shouldnt be bound by gravity. you should be able to do insane maneuvers in space and have separate physics and maneuvering for in atmo combat, but just having you run round is a terrible choice.

Wow. How lame, I was okay with this game.
Ooooh well, Armored Core comes out Friday.
Shoulda just ported gundam versus games and the breaker ones
I have 2 accounts, one acc is over lv 150 and other one is over lv 100, around 1750hrs playtime, I know how to dodge the "infamous op barbatos" before I reached lv 5 I guess, just press the damn boost button right before barbatos do that high altitude smash thing.. its more real then gbo2, you need reflex to do it, like a pilot in the anime. the most difficult thing to dodge in this game is the electricity eel attack of marasai I have to say, you can only dodge it before it launch the electricity eel, coz its too late if you start to dodge it after the attack had launched, which mean, once you see a marasai, you dodge immediately.. marasai is the only op suit (in 1 on 1 situation) in this game and no haters notice it.
no console crossplay or crossplay in genreal game felt so wierd to play controls on console were soooooooooo bad and skins were just recolours not appealing at all
I played barbatos for the last two days and it made n u t #dontkillbarbatos
Didnt even get to play it due to anti cheat cock blocking linex steamdeck users
But right from the beginning seeing these god like gundams get killed in 2 hits is never going to make sense
No flight
And generic season cash shop bullshit as usual
Flight was a thing, and most machines in the show *do* get one shot, those beam rifles are effectively handheld battleship cannons in lore.
The game *could* have had better vertical thrusters for sure, but every unit can hover and boost just fine, it’s what sets the game apart from other OW clones.
Live service literally killed this game..imagine if we can grind exp and money just by playing matches, engaging with the community, joining with a clan etc.
Couldn't you already do that?

Yes but it was slow as hell to try to encourage you to pay.
Honestly, I think it should have had a fairly inexpensive buy in like Overwatch did.
I love it game🥺
Play Gundam battle operation 2. That game has been going for years with no signs of slowing down
Lol I left that game and went to GEVO...then went right back to GBO2.
I feel sorry for the GE fans, but at least we have GBO2 somehow, lets see how long it last in PC...
@@OutrageousDragon no but that sounds like that GM just turned itself into a boss fight
What next, Psycho GM?
@@Wolvenworks
Ugh, even on Playstation connections are an issue. I was banned for pretty much all of Christmas because my PS5 had a connection error. Wasn't until that evening I was able to get back in and restore my rating.
Pure, blatant, greed ruined this game. It was good for 1-2 weeks of f2p but you're a sucker to sink money into this. The worst part of all of this is Bandai is going to use this dumpster fire to claim they shouldn't bother localizing anymore Gundam games.
players are greed, I paid none, playtime over 1750hrs. game is not pay to win and game gives enough of free credits for players to unlock most of the suits
Armored core 6
Very diffrent type of game though
Gundam *sweaty Predator handshake* Warhammer 40k
Making fans say "How could you f*do that up"
a gundam game shouldnt be bound by gravity. you should be able to do insane maneuvers in space and have separate physics and maneuvering for in atmo combat, but just having you run round is a terrible choice.
im sorry gundam evolution is bad and lazy . good gundam game should look more like mobile suit gundam battle operation 2 .
Imagine they just made matchmaking properly. What a bunch of useless humans these devs are.
