Just watched their video on the new Ford Super Duty and I have seen another video on the new Ram Heavy Duty. After watching this video, I do not think competition has ever been this evenly matched. Honestly, you can no longer go wrong with an HD truck. Take your pick: Ram, Ford, GM... you can't lose now. All they need to do is just stop making them better so quickly, and spend more time on making them less expensive.
@Snake Plissken you dont understand enough to about trucks to be talking that way. That way of thinking is flawed. Called black and white thinking. The new HD Ram, uses 0 parts from Fiat. In fact, the transmission is made by Aisin which is owned by Toyota and supplies Toyota with 90% of their transmissions. The hemi 6.4l gas proven to be a good gas engine, and the Cummins is great. They use Dana for some of their 4x4 components and they use similar manufacturers of most other manufacturers today. What I said is true. All of the these hd trucks are great. In fact, all of the American companies have schooled Nissan as of lately and have Toyota struggling to keep up- really very heavily on their tacoma to drag them along.

Motor is just one part of what determines a truck’s tow capacity. You could get a v6 gas motor to tow 35,000 pounds with the right chassis and axle gearing.
U guys gotta look up that guy on UA-cam who took a k5 blazer frame or some shit and put a 5hp Briggs n Stratton engine on it. He's pulls all sorts of shit with it, like semis
They could have made the 6.6 more powerful but they would lose out on durability. So the choose materials that can take more heat and pressure as to material that function more efficiently.
Horsepower and torque numbers are a little lower than the 6.2, but GM designed this to be a 300 K mile motor. The 6.2 in a heavy design like this would not be nearly as durable. That’s why the previous 6.0L gas motor was so reliable!
I can say I didn't love the look, but sure didn't hate it like most people, but the one thing I can't get over and wish they'd never touched is the mirrors.

The new 6.6 gasser seems like a good upgrade but at 400 horsepower and 450 of torque that is a bit more than the current 6.0 but a guy could go out and spend a couple thousand dollars on aftermarket components and get that and more out of the 6.0 present.

There's always going to be a back-and-forth competition where one company temporarily one-ups the others, until the table is turned that is. In either case what's important here is not what the numbers show but how long a particular vehicle LASTS, and that will require the passage of time. Luckily we can look at previous models of each of the manufacturers to see if they have a track record of producing quality products, or if they simply have a track record for coming up with the shiniest, gimmickiest, garbage at any one date and not live to survive more than 30k; if you want evidence of that it is easy to obtain. For me it isn't good enough that Manufacturer X suddenly came up with the best thing since thick-cut bacon, if they have a history of producing short-lasting lemons I will (rightly) assume that this too is likely a lemon.

GM is giving all the 1500s except the work truck HIDS it looks like. They have projectors in all the current 2500s with halogen bulbs. Now they are going back to halogen housing and bulbs for every 2500 except the high country and maybe ltz? All the current 1500s have HIDS and projector housings right?
Is the new gasser going to require premium fuel with the higher compression ratio? That would cut into the cost savings when comparing to a diesel. Just a thought.
Looks like the Ram was top dog for all of a couple of weeks? And Ford is holding back on their new numbers...... Looks like Ram just learned that timing is everything!
They are all pretty damn competitive. It's nice to see them all deliver at the same time. Ford and GM having 10 speeds will be important and Fords 7.3L gas is a pretty big deal too. Ram getting 8 speed on gas will save the 6.4L Hemi though.
@@MatthewTyreeKS Oh yea the Cummins and Aisin are nothing to be disappointed about. None of the latest diesels are disappointing. 2500 kind of bums me out though. No Aisin and 385/850 power figures are definitely shadowed by Ford and GM especially with their new 10 speeds coming.
Planning starts years in advance. I think the manufacturers wouldn't postpone releases (and all the short term sales) just to have the #1 spot in certain categories. They're all just so good, and no way a normal person would tow 35000lbs, 15 maybe, and most people are satisfied with their brand being able to do that. I know Dodge didn't wait around for the gt500 before dropping the demon. Be interesting to know what the marketeers have found is worth it - waiting for the competition or releasing sooner for more sales
Most of the promo videos show fifth wheel rv’s coupled to the short bed model . I wonder if the new stretched short bed box will allow the clearance for 90 degree turning without having to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch. It sure would be a YUGE bonus to keep the box uncluttered by using the new Reese Goose Box hitch on the short box without worrying about trailer to cab contact. QUESTION FOR GM: What is the distance of the goose neck ball to the front of the box?
There's no pickup that can safely tow a 35000 lb trailer at highway speeds. Semi tractors with far more powerful engines and air brakes and 18 wheels and tires commonly tow trailers of that weight. The DOT needs to step in and put an end to this insanity of overrating pickup trucks' towing capabilities. .
A standard loaded semi trailer is around 55-60,000lbs. Scaled down, a pickup can do 30-35k while using the same professional skills and precautions. Keep in mind these tow ratings include the trailer.
THE MONO PAINTED TOP FRONT GRILL AND BLACKOUT GRILL AND BUMPERS ALSO MIRRORS IS THE BADASS LOOK FOR THIS SILVERADO HD. THIS MODEL TRIM IS GOING TO BE POPULAR 🏁
Ram and Chevy are kickin it up this gen for sure......... But that 7.3 Ford is gonna be something special and I'd imagine Ford will show its diesel spec and outperform dodge's 1000 ft lbs and outperform GMs 35,500
I wonder if the frame will still be dipped in grease/wax. Too bad they painted and clear coated their displays. Would have made some nice hands/clothes.
Payload is same as always on all trucks 3/4 and 1 ton which includes passengers tongue and on board material weight. Towing changes because of raw power and trailer braking...it is always about the stopping.
I know this video is ALL about the HD models, but I was curious, when does GM expect to showcase the all new Suburban and Yukon XL models? Very nice HD models and Great video by the way.
Am I the only person who hates this redesign on the half tons, but really likes them on the heavy duty’s? Idk why it is but the HD’s I love this design more than the outgoing , where on the 1500’s I prefer the old styling
Didn't like this truck in the concept phase... But that 35.5K lbs of towing capacity is convincing me that it's not such a "bad" truck... Hope they make all the parts reliable (Edit): I'm really glad they kept the shifter on the steering wheel. I HATE the shifter at the bottom by the center console in trucks...
Great job on this video. So many features. Looking forward to the release of these new trucks in dealerships. Interested to hear how the new gas engine truck performs. Thank you and keep up the good work.

That l5p could tow this "35,000 pounds" from day one in '17 they wanted to just wait for the new truck to announce it. It's the same motor
Limitations in the IFS design and overall chassis design was the reason the towing capacity was so low. The drivetrain had nothing to do with it.

Best truck ever!! I cant belive we are steel like that shit ram and that shit ford chevy the best for ever.like a rock!!!!!!!
True, but Ram can at least claim 1,000 lb/ft of torque in the diesel wars first.
@@JsGarage Agreed. All of the trucks are very good anymore.
That white Custom looks cool.
Looks good but real question will be future reliability👍🏻 before buying one
1:10, Could you elaborate more on that "Plow".
Most people do not need to tow over 35k lbs, unless you own 57’ 5th wheels with trailer weight 37,000 lbs.
I'm starting to like that front end. It's almost like a first gen avalanche
Fix those stupid mirrors and it’s actually a decent looking truck
I’m really excited for these trucks! Can’t wait to work on em lol
Yup that's my home plant in my home town
I wonder if the frame will still be dipped in grease/wax. Too bad they painted and clear coated their displays. Would have made some nice hands/clothes.
How does this Scott guy not know the payload?
Payload is same as always on all trucks 3/4 and 1 ton which includes passengers tongue and on board material weight. Towing changes because of raw power and trailer braking...it is always about the stopping.
I know this video is ALL about the HD models, but I was curious, when does GM expect to showcase the all new Suburban and Yukon XL models? Very nice HD models and Great video by the way.
I read that 10 speed has nothing to do with allison but they just label it to fool customers into thinking it's an allison trans
All these marketing guys favorite phrase by far is “we started from the ground up” haha. All the auto makers engineers always use this...
Hope they make all the parts reliable
(Edit): I'm really glad they kept the shifter on the steering wheel. I HATE the shifter at the bottom by the center console in trucks...
Look out my peeps. Im brooke after this release
Great job on this video. So many features. Looking forward to the release of these new trucks in dealerships. Interested to hear how the new gas engine truck performs. Thank you and keep up the good work.
TFL always do a good job
Ok awesome...now lets get to 550hp, 1200 rwtq and 40k max towing. LoL. Great video guys thanks for getting the info out!
Just have a bugatti engine in it, simple.
I still love my 04 8.1
Notice at 14.00 he has to hold the tailgate up so it doesn't power down into the trailer jack.
You haven't towed much
Whoah!! Great video and info TFL. Thanks!
Finally GM catching up to the pack
