      The maintenance on a kenworth will kill you, and where do you park the thing with one of these you can occasionally tow something heavy. but still go on a parkway or a local street .

    • @patrickseals5746
      @patrickseals5746 5 років тому +5

      cdizzle99z sadly these trucks are good for maybe 200,000 miles where a Kenworth that is maintained is good for a million and a half or more miles. Also my Kenworth comes home to my neighborhood with no issues and cruises great down the parkway. Parking in a standard space no. But the new trucks and new parking lots are not much good for anything over a honda civic anyway.

      AdvancedShadeTree it will sell well in fleet trucks. Most companies don’t want to spend the extra money on the diesel. Plus the added maintenance cost and up here in Canada the extra fuel cost. The diesel emissions systems also kills the ability to run a under hood air compressor that the oil field service guys like to run.

      I wonder how many times that has been uttered. Last one was probably in 2001, when the new HDs were coming out then, at a time when the 67-72, square body, and the 1988-98 trucks were still plentiful. "That truck is ugly. They don't make 'em like they used to. The 6.0 is gonna be a flop. The old 5.7 is adequate. They should've stuck that in there. But hey, they will become hot rod engines in 2 years." Funny thing was, the old 4.8 at the time ran away from the ancient 350.

      They'll get the 4.10 gears. It's probably an option. It's going to be just like when GM released the new 6 speed in 07.5 model year with 3.73 behind the 6.0. They went to 4.10 in 2014. It's a fuel milage thing, I just wish GM would understand fuel milage doesn't always come first in HD trucks.

    The big problem that I have with the newer technology in these vehicles today is where they think for you. That gas truck sounded like it was working HARD. That seems like a light load/flat terrain tow rig. Which is fine, plenty of folks need a lighter duty 'HD' truck to haul a racecar trailer, round bales, small-ish (well, not huge) tractors/equipment, smaller campers, etc. I just hope no one buys one expecting to tow near the max capacity in hilly terrain, and for it to last. Continuous 4-5,000 rpm under load is asking a lot of a normal (non-commercial, non-competition) engine, to say nothing of the trans temperature.

My Duramax injectors went bad at 50,000 miles and they told me "sorry, we only warranty the mechanical portion of the injector, not the electronic part" (all one assembly) and told me it would be $4,500 to replace them. A call directly to GM gave me the same result. I immediately traded my Chevrolet 3500 in for a Ram 3500 Cummins built truck and never looked back. I will never own another GM ANYTHING, I don't care if it could tow 100,000 lbs.!

    GM and all manufacturers are putting customers in DOT eye sights.
    When any pick up truck can tow in combination over 26,000 lbs it now becomes big trouble.
    1) any truck with a gvw at 10,000lbs the driver must have a medical card. This is for everyone.
    2) When any truck is towing over 26,001 lbs driver must have a CDL license ..
    These new trucks are going to get people into trouble with DOT and most states are demanding pickups into scale houses all over the East coast lately. I own a dually and i have sighns on my truck stating for personal use and i have been escorted to scale houses many times. Yes i have a medical card.

    First off, I’ll say that I drive an F-150. My last truck was a 2016 2500HD. I love my ford, and I loved my HD. They both have their ups and downs. My Chevy, while it may have not been the fastest (faster than a Ram with the 5.7, but only because of the gearing, but not faster than F-150), the HD could pull hard with a load behind her. My HD knew how to put the power to the ground. My F-150 is lightning fast with 375/470, but feels wobbly pulling the weight, as it isn’t as heavy. I never pushed the Chevy beyond its limits, as it never broke down, although I did pull 13k pounds, and it pulled hills like nothing. I wouldn’t try 13k with my F-150, but it gets 22 mpg on the average. I really like Chevys lineup, same as Ford. I believe they can do amazing things, especially if they were to put their company’s together, as they are the only two true American automotive companies remaining. Does anyone out there agree with me?

    No doubt that now that GM and Ram have released their power and towing capacity numbers it won’t be long until Ford releases the numbers for the 2020 Super Duty trucks. But first Ford will go back and do some final tuning so they can be sure to beat the Ram and take the lead with the highest torque rating and tweak the suspension and other components so that they beat General Motors max towing capacity of 35,500 lbs even if it’s only by 100 lbs. Ford has been doing this for a long time now. Wait until the competition shows it’s hand and then go back and make some final adjustments and then come in and beat everyone. They’ve consistently done it with the F Series and with the Shelby GT500 they’ve done the same thing over the last few model releases. Ford will do what it has to in order to be on top of the truck market.

    Silly to have 1-ton pickup truck that tows more than 30k anyways. Just leads to more idiots towing loads they shouldn’t be and doing so illegally, since they don’t have class A licenses/ CDL’s. Simply buy a bigger truck if you need to tow more than 30k anyways, like a 45/5500 truck that is made to handle that weight with better wheels, tires, axles etc. I don’t suspect these new 3500HD trucks will hold up well over time If used to 90% of their max weights.

There are lots of dualies puling big flatbeds moving around freight that otherwise wouldnt get moved. These trucks are also cheaper to insure and fuel, so car and rv trailer haulers can also move freight for much lower overhead than semis can.
