Right; if you drive your Truck empty at about 30mph you might get something like 60 miles; of course all chinese range estimates are the worst fake bs even compared to Europe and US range estimates for EVs.. Go fine ond that has ever really gotten 60 miles on a charge. Your really looking at 30-40 miles similar to the RAV4. Not that 40 miles is nothing; but your not using it as a truck much if you are getting even that; put a load on it see what happens.

@@jeffsenecal4168 I agree that this is an issue. However, with the cost of living increasing daily, people do notice the price difference. For example, the GWM Tank 300 Hybrid costs half of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe here in Australia. And with Jeep having a terrible reputation in terms of quality and reliability, the CCP argument is getting harder and harder to digest for the average Joe and Sheila. Consequently, Jeep sales are heading towards the zero mark here - fast (also because other 4x4s are better in Australian conditions - e.g. the Ford Everest). The real answer to the "China threat" is better or at least similar quality and competitive pricing. If Ford & Toyota don't get this right soon, they will be sidelined long-term. Here in Oz, 2 Chinese manufacturers are already in the Top 10 of the sales charts ...

Good review guys! I'm from New Zealand. We are getting the Shark at the end of 2024! Can't wait to try it. And by the way, BYD has been in the NZ market for a few years now. Their small EV SUV offering is now everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE. Quality has been good too.
We in Europe have at least 20 Chinese brands, the Chinese have been present for at least ten years and we have long been aware that the build quality is very good. I just think that SUVs are better than pick-ups, after all, pick-ups are an American thing... I hope that Chinese cars will also be present in the USA so that the prices of vehicles in the USA will drop a little
Chinese vehicles will never be allowed in the USA. Too many jobs at stake. Automotive-related industry employees an estimated 20% of the total workforce. China didn't have a legacy automotive industry to protect, so it was super easy for Chinese companies to dive right into the EV game. Automotive companies in the USA just cannot do that.
@@TarulWarlord The main problem is US gov doesn't allow any Chinese car company to setup factory in US. No employment will be lost if they produce in US, just like Toyota, Nissan and Honda.

Maybe ford gm and dodge should go back to making low cost high volume trucks like they were founded on. Not bloated overpriced pieces of shit. Edit: Man did I spark a debate 🤣
That would be great but lifting a few government regulations and giving the consumer choice instead would also help us out. How much less expensive do you think a truck would be without SRS systems, immobilizer systems, shift locks, back up cameras, ABS, and a few other crash related safety items? I'm thinking at least 30-40%, maybe more.

It's hilarious that Americans are now going to have to borrow vehicles from Mexico to test most of the world's EVs. BYD in July became the third largest auto manufacturer in the world passing Ford. They're larger than any of the "big 3" already and they're still growing like crazy. You can blame government for this, tariffs and protectionism never work. Can't wait when Zeekers, Xiaomi, Xpeng, NIO, and especially YangWang (BYD's ultra luxury brand) opens in Mexico...they'll definitely get test drive by Americans
Good point. We're forced by the government who bought by the lazy US corporations to pay the high prices for low quality. Not only the big3, but tech companies as well. Has anyone compared Huawei's XT 3-fold-phone vs Iphone 16? We're forced to overpay everything here in the US.
Perhaps it’s the government that’s making them incompetent. Also doubt that the Chinese company is paying their employees well, they do not have unions to protect their workers.
I’m pretty sure the Chinese government supports this company to keep their prices low. Additionally, they don’t have to pay their employees very much. So if you want to support the Chinese government and poverty labor over well made trucks where the people building them can support a family, that’s on you.

I absolutely disagree with today's new vehicle prices. But go to China, Japan, South Korea or Russia and tell me if they have a free market. Here in North America we have more variety than pretty much anywhere in the world but there will always be a reason to complain...
The private OEMs could have met the consumer long ago. People thinking a free market equals the absence of government are only making a mistake. Following EREV,, the Workhorse W15 was supposedly going to fill this gap. That was almost 8 years ago. Government tariffs are the anti-competitive end game.
Money talks. That truck here for half or 30% less than an equally equipped American truck. Is going sell like crazy. About brand loyalty that is a very small percentage of the people buying trucks. Most people just want more for their money. They government knows that if allowed in the US market it will destroy all competition. As far reliability, the vehicles we buy now suck anyways, are super expensive to repair and they want to make it illegal for people to work in their own vehicles. Basically the US car industry is forcing us to buy expensive bad vehicles, fine us if we don't pay them to fix the broken vehicles they sold us. As much as I'm not a fan of Chinese products like that, I want them here just to teach US companies a lesson.
I have driven a Ford F-150 for over 40 years. The current insane truck prices eliminate brand loyalty considerations. I would buy one today if the BYD Truck was available in the USA. Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, & Nissan are all in big trouble due to their truck prices. I will never pay these prices.
The way truck prices are raping loyal consumers, plus the sheer arrogance of manufacturers even like Toyota make the market hungry for this truck, its features, its price, and yes, Chinese goods look appealing. Ford and GM are the most vulnerable. They should be VERY concerned.

We have owned a BYD for two years in Costa Rica and have had zero problems. I don't think they are ready to take on Toyota, Ford etc just yet. The quality needs to come up for sure. However, neither were Toyota, Kia, Hyundai this early in those company's history. Give BYD 4-5 more years and they will be hurting the big boys if they don't stop the price gauging and making bloated junk.

And soon Stellantis will build cars from Leapmotor in their european plant in Poland. Also Xpeng is entering the European market. And VW is a sherholder of Xpeng. Toyota and Honda already facing over 30% sales shrinkage turn this year in Chinese market, and BYD and other EVs are eating up the cake “left” by the Japanese brands and annually 40% increase in sales
I really can't understand why Americans look down on Chinese products while simultaneously using a vast number of them. If they were really that bad, they wouldn't appear in the American market, right? Since there is an abundance of Chinese goods in the market, I believe this is a market choice; these products are the most cost-effective and meet the needs of the public. Brands like Huawei, DJI, BYD, Haier, TCL, Lenovo, etc., all come from China. And what about America? What does America have in terms of manufacturing? Now, even the automotive industry can only survive under government protection.

What people in America do not want to realize and except is that China is more advanced with their technology than we are simple as that they're not afraid to just think of something and go for it whether it has to do with vehicles or unbelievable engineering projects building roads and bridges and buildings may just beat us around every turn when it comes to technology in advanced engineering simple as that
It is pretty simple. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday, US is busy telling the world that China is a threat. On Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, US is busy telling the world that China is collapsing and on Sunday they focus their anti-China propaganda efforts on so-called "human rights." Now that the US Congress just passed another anti-China bill to spread more propaganda globally with a US$325 millions per year budget till 2028 on top of already several such similar bills. Unfortunately, Americans associate Chinese products with the ones they bought at their local Dollarama or $5 waffle maker from Walmart that broke after 2 months instead of the expensive/high tech Apple iphones and Lenovo laptops they're using daily.
@@supertouring1 What a lot of Americans didn't realize was that those "very cheap Chinese products" they used to be able to buy cost only 5-10% of the price they bought for. It's their greedy US corporations that ripped them off selling to them with 10-20 times the actual export price. Even today many things in China still are very affordable to the average person, enjoying same or much higher standard of living than those in the West while paying for less. People in the West pay 3-10 times on average the cost of what people are paying in China in so many different sections from transportation, consumer goods, entertainment, food etc.

I haven’t had the chance to try this BYD truck yet, but I can say from experience that BYD cars are truly excellent! In terms of price and quality, they’re so much better than Tesla that I’m not sure how Tesla will compete in the long run. It’s surprising that people still don’t expect top-tier build quality from Chinese automakers. While not all are great-MG, for example, falls short-BYD is phenomenal, as is GAC. I’ve had experience with both, and they easily rival European, American, and Japanese manufacturers. These brands should be taken seriously-they’re incredible! As for brand loyalty, I favour Toyota and Isuzu trucks. But I trust BYD, if it is priced right I'm on.
The irony is that, China is promoting competition and a free market while we are endorsing policies reminiscent of communism, such as protectionism and government subsidies 😂😂
Well China put PLENTY of subsidies into their car companies over the years, both state owned and private ones like BYD. The difference is their carmakers actually used all those subsidies to, like, make these innovative cars. American subsidies just get used to do stock buybacks and enrich the C-suite and institutional investors instead.
socialism for the rich and both communism/capitalism for the poor i guess. But yeah both japanese and the western automakers are lagging behind the automotive race but their CEOs keep getting richer.
USA capitalism is actually: Socialized risks. Privatized profits. When market condition is good the CEO gets all the accolades and profits. When the markets downturn the government steps in to bail them out; and the CEOs still keep their hefty salaries.
Ironically, there are a few Chinese automakers were bankrupted on the past few years due to the huge competition causing job cuts and other social issues which was totally against their socialist/communist ideology. Have we seen many bankruptcies in the west recently?
As a mechanic I've said since the introduction of full electric vehicles that they should have an onboard gas generator. It just makes so much more sense to me. Now Edison is building a semi truck using that architecture and conversion kits for full size passenger trucks and here comes BYD. Be interesting to see if any of the other manufacturers follow suit.
It's a great idea because you can commute to work for dirt cheap but when you tow or go on a road trip you have the gas generator plus with a giant generator built in you can power your camp site when you go camping or a power outage Edison has it right with the semis
I agree because the fast-charging situation on the road in US is not that good for a pickup truck or SUV that needs to tow something. In China, there are new semi-solid EV battery that has high capacity and more importantly very fast charging (if there is a compatible fast charger), and that will solve the range-anxiety. But that will take time to have that kind of fast chargers available. Meanwhile, we need to have this type of hybrid SUV or pickup truck if someone wants to save money in fuel cost.
This is exact vehicle I would be interested in. It's a no brainer to put a gas range extender in an EV. Plug in 90% of the time. But on longer trips, don't have to worry about stopping to charge up since you can stop at any gas station.

Rent one for a month and put it through all the tests. If the US manufacturers see positive responses maybe we'll get a competitive product. But I don't expect them to match the price because BYD makes its own batteries.
I've been telling people this for the past 5 or 6 years. I contract in the middle east. Chinese vehicles are everywhere. Even being leased for daily use on the US bases. If they can survive the 120 degree heat and abuse over here, they can survive in the US. Legacy US auto makers can't compete with the price or features offered by these Chinese vehicles. That's why the outrageous tariffs to make it financially unprofitable to sell in the US. Without tariffs, they'd put Ford, GM etc. out of business.
Innovate or die. Ford and Chevy are pricing themselves out of market. Everyone laughed at Korean car manufacturers ten years ago, look at them now. Chinese car manufacturers are coming, Ford and Chevy need to introduce PHEV Trucks.
The Korean car market is a horrible example unfortunately. Hyundai built far better quality 20 plus years ago yet, Kia, though they have come a long way since the early 2000's in appearance, Kia is extremely poor quality and poor reliability and have tainted their cousin manufacturer Hyundai. 60 miles of electric range for a plugin hybrid. 500+ for total range. This is such a no brainer. I think "Don't listen to us" is a lot of hyperbole (Roughly 2 million trucks are sold each year). We have Mid sized trucks again from the Big 2, Ford made the Maverick....and both GM and Toyota are supposedly bringing similar small trucks to the market Let's also remember that most people are buying loaded up Pickup trucks to begin with, so by vote of the wallet that's what is going to be built.
The problem with the (soon to be formally) Big 3" ? Here goes. They were TOLD this was coming (in *2006* ) by the ONLY US company that had a similar *Multi-Decade* plan as the Chinese. . They ALL thought they knew better. Now? Instead of competing against SMALL, immature companies from China (and USA) THEY are trying to understand the technology, design, ramp AND compete against GLOBAL Companies who had well over 10 years head start. . It's not that they "Don't listen" It's that they need to spend HUGE amounts to catch up, but their market is shining... And they need more profit from every unit. But that makes their market shrink. So they need more profit per unit..... "Death Spiral" . And if you say "Build a Small, cheap ICE truck" Cheaper truck, lower profit per unit, must sell more... But EVs are taking over the *Global* Market, and if the "Big 3" want to be Global, they can't spend to develop a new "niche" truck for 25%(?) Of the *GLOBAL* Market... . Jim Farley arrived and CUT what we're perceived to be the most successful Small Fords in Europe (Fiesta, Focus)... Why? No margin, they were LOSING money because you have to sell A LOT of "Less expensive" vehicles to make a profit. . Get it?
The U.S. government has raised tariffs on Chinese products and raised the cost of living for Americans. All it does is to ensure high profits for the U.S. auto industry, which can please the auto industry's campaign donations and votes. The auto industry taxes all Americans because they have the votes! What a liberal democracy
A couple of points: - Prices in Mexico are higher than in the US. In part due to VAT included in the price. This car is less expensive than gasoline 4X4 midsized trucks from competitive companies in Mexico, despite higher levels of equipment. - Towing is capped by the GVWR to stay in a passenger vehicle classification in other countries. The truck is a bit heavy due to the battery, so the tow rating is sandbagged to bring the GVWR under to the limit. It is likely capable of towing more than its rating and would no doubt be able to tow more if offered in the US, where the heavier GVWR gets tax advantaged but does not require a CDL.

Buying low quality goods from China is mainly because the importer of your region being too greedy, Chinese manufacturers would provide all kinds of deals for buyers, so if you are buying, let's say a 10 USD phone charger that would break in few months, that means the company which sold you that charger, they bought that from the Chinese at 1 USD price but they sold you for 10.
Someone needs to put them all out of business. You shouldn't have to get a mortgage to buy a vehicle that the government tries to disolve with chemicals on the road. I have a 98 3500 and a 2001 f 250. Both run great but the bodies are falling off. Cab corners don't exist and doors falling off. These trucks cost more than my house and my house is worth 3 times what i paid for it. Then you can double a new car payment to cover your mandatory insurance.
That's a Ford and, ummm, I don't know who makes the 3500, Dodge, GM?, problem. They could have made the rust proofing better in the corners and bottom of the cab and the box but they wanted for save a few bucks per vehicle.
move to a state that doesnt put salt on the roads. Sure dont let that be the main reason to move but its a great bonus. Living in eastern WA i honestly forgot thats a thing in our country. Theres plenty of states besides washington
80 billion to save the auto industry during 2008, and what do we get as a result? Trucks just get larger in sizes, they consume more gas, while innovation remains stagnant.
I have a feeling BYD is going to be the next Hyundai / Kia. Initially viewed as an inferior quality import product, but turns out to actually be pretty decent for the average consumer. Look at DeBoss Garage’s recent video where he went to China and got to experience BYD vehicles for himself. The vehicle quality and prices blow the American auto manufactures out of the water. I really do hope they are allowed to be sold in the United States, the domestic auto manufacturers need some competition with the insane prices they are putting on their vehicles lately. So yes, my vote would absolutely be to buy one and test it, I can’t wait to see more on this!
I expect BYD is further advanced than Hyundai was when Hyundai started to export to North America. Byd 15 years ago was crap heck even 5 years ago Chinese barely bought them. Now it has become one of the most popular brands in China.
I want one of these Trucks, I’m going to Mexico to buy one, here in California I now see a lot of vehicles with Mexican license plates. I really like it. Half of my family members live in Mexico.
Everyone keep in mind the US market isn’t necessarily everyone’s goal anymore. There are a lot more opportunities now to sell to rising middle classes in developing markets while avoiding US import barriers, emissions and crash standards. I’m not a fan of the exterior styling but I think this is a compelling buy for a lot of persons in numerous markets.
I remember when every auto journalist in the USA criticized GM for building an electric vehicle (Chevy Volt) with a gas motor for backup to charge the batteries. Now BYD are geniuses.
the criticism was that gm tried to sell the volt as 100% ev, they were hiding that it was just a hybrid, which was not an really an issue... they refused to acknowldge that it was a hybrid for stupid reasos
GM, Toyota, AND BYD were all starting to build various types of PHEV and EREV (Volt) vehicles back then. But truth be told those very first Volts (along with similar vintage Prius and BYD PHEVs) were not that sophisticated, not that fuel efficient, and not that cheap. The difference here is the GM gave up after one more generation of the Volt, but BYD kept plugging away, iterating constantly, and just released their 5th generation DM-i PHEV platform, cousin to this first generation DMO truck platform. Because they kept working on it, BYD PHEVs are now some of the most sophisticated, efficent, AND cheapest cars on the planet, while GM has nothing. BYD are not geniuses per se, but rather it is their persistent work over a period of almost 20 years which has made them what they are today. Which also means if GM wants to catch up to that, there is no easy solution either. You'd have to do it the BYD way, but keep working on it year after year.
@@tren133 Very true. Even Toyota is somewhat giving up by planning to license and use BYD's hybrid technology in Toyota vehicles. That says all you need to know.
I wish manufacturers in America, take note. No transmission, no transmission, and an engine that only acts as a generator. This is what we need. Not all electric.
@@simonbates5939Toyota RAV4 Prime AWD plug-in is doing it. EV range is about 42 miles, which is more than the distance most people travel most days of the year. Some people report not needing to visit a gas station for several months with a plug-in hybrid. But, if a person is driving a short EV range plug-in hybrid vehicle for months while not needing to visit a gas station, it means that they are not taking any long trips. So, just imagine what it's like to have 300 to 360 miles of EV range. Stopping to charge an EV for 20 to 25 minutes on a rare road trip is easy. But, many people state that waiting so long to charge an EV is crazy compared to gassing up an ICE vehicle in just a few minutes, yet they're ok with driving to a destination for 8 or 10 hours a day over a couple of days, which is a big waste of time and money. Take a jet and get there in a few hours. Rent a vehicle upon arrival.
I mean they basically did. The Shark is just the front 2/3 of the Bao 5 with a truck bed in the back. Identical chassis and DMO drivetrain as the Bao 5, except I don't think the Shark comes with the high trim Bao 5's trick electrohydraulic suspension system. Not yet at any rate.
@@tren133 The Bao 5 is different. It has over 500kw's of power and 760nm of torque. It also has things like diff locks to help with offroad ability. The battery is also a little bigger.
byd just brings leopard 5 to Dunhuang off road rally (something similar to Dakar rally). They were the only cars in T2 group finishing this rally. I am pretty sure byd is going to take leopard 5 to Dakar in the near future.
I feel like this should be the future of trucks. All electric technology just isn’t there yet to be feasible for most Americans, but something like this is!
I'd take a 1975 Chrysler Imperial over a Cybertruck. Other things I'd take over a Cybertruck include bell bottoms, a flat tire, gas station sushi, and scurvy...
I've had the "Other Brands", I don't have Brand Loyalty when the current Manufacturers Charge so much for their Trucks. I'd Buy a BYD in an INSTANT just to shove it in the faces of every other manufacturer that can't build a more thought-out vehicle! This is what WE need, NOW!!! I'm tired of the "CAN'T DO", instead reinvent themselves because people want more!!! BYD for the Win!!!
Here in Oz, the BYD Seal also gives the Tesla Model 3 a run for the money-it's cheaper and has better build quality and a traditional dashboard. Western manufacturers should be worried, really. FYI - the Ford Ranger is not available with a hybrid option here (yet).
I think the concept of an electric vehicle with a gas generator is awesome. The battery needs to be big enough to have good range without the engine coming on, and the egine will have to be efficient to make the most of the concept. It's great to see what BYD is doing.
Also, the bigger the battery, the heavier it is and the longer it takes to charge. 60 Mill ev can already meet 90% of driving needs going to the store and dropping children off at school. And a 194hp generator for long distance travel.
BYO has been making hybrid buses in the US for a while. I really like how they use the engine as a generator. Seems that would give you the best of both worlds for a lot of people.
The city that I live in tried to make use of BYD buses, they all had to be sent back because they didn't meet the claims that were made regarding their performance and due to serious quality issues.
@@mikahoIic From what I can find, CA only ran 4 buses for a year as an experiment. Anyway, hopefully they don't catch on in the US, there are American bus manufacturers that need to succeed.

I find it funny how all of this stuff going on with Chinese made vehicles is now just "Japanese Vehicles 2.0". Everybody here in the US were afraid of Japanese automakers taking over the US auto industry in the 1980's and now a Nissan, Toyota and Mazda are just as common place as a Ford, Chevy or Dodge. Which I never got why people were afraid to begin with because the Japanese electronics brands ruled the market when it came to home HiFi systems and other electronics since the 70's. All of the top stereo makers were either Japanese brands or US brands with Japanese made components. US made brands have been out of touch with their customers for generations. Now the cycle is repeating itself and everyone is afraid of China wanting a piece of the US auto market. When you remove something from your lineup that customers want and replace it with something they have no interest in then they'll seek out the competition who is still offering what they're looking for. It's just simple marketing really. For some reason GM and Ford thinking people only want SUV's and Pickups was a smart move. They've lost the customers who don't care about either and just want a simple car to get around. At lease the Japanese automakers are smart enough to keep their vehicle lines that interest everyone. If the Chinese automakers offer a decently built vehicle that people want at a reasonable price then they'll start reeling in the customers who can't afford the delusional prices being asked by GM, Ford and Dodge/Ram. You price the vast majority of your customer base out of the market and they go to the competition who's offering more for less. Again, just simple marketing. People flock to what's best for them. Not what automakers think is best for them.
Amazing truck and sad that we are forced to buy vehicles in America of lesser quality, fit and finish and performance than the rest of the world. Even more sad is the fact that Ford makes better vehicles for the European market than for its home. I travel to Germany a lot and have rented Ford and GM products that is unavailable in the US and of far superior quality and much better gas mileage. So thanks to all the American car manufacturers for taking care of your people. bend over America.

Most people just want more for their money. They government knows that if allowed in the US market it will destroy all competition. As far reliability, the vehicles we buy now suck anyways, are super expensive to repair and they want to make it illegal for people to work in their own vehicles.

Yah, no. Canada has been very anti-China for the last few years, always provoking China at first and playing victim whenever China retaliated.
That's basically a propaganda lie😂 @@tren133
Diesel generator would be even better!
we are so far behind!
Isn’t a new ram charger pick up truck running with the same technology
This is exact vehicle I would be interested in. It's a no brainer to put a gas range extender in an EV. Plug in 90% of the time. But on longer trips, don't have to worry about stopping to charge up since you can stop at any gas station.

The problem with the (soon to be formally) Big 3" ?
Here goes.
They were TOLD this was coming (in *2006* ) by the ONLY US company that had a similar *Multi-Decade* plan as the Chinese.
.
They ALL thought they knew better.
Now? Instead of competing against SMALL, immature companies from China (and USA) THEY are trying to understand the technology, design, ramp AND compete against GLOBAL Companies who had well over 10 years head start.
.
It's not that they "Don't listen"
It's that they need to spend HUGE amounts to catch up, but their market is shining...
And they need more profit from every unit.
But that makes their market shrink.
So they need more profit per unit.....
"Death Spiral"
.
And if you say "Build a Small, cheap ICE truck"
Cheaper truck, lower profit per unit, must sell more...
A couple of points:
- Prices in Mexico are higher than in the US.
It is likely capable of towing more than its rating and would no doubt be able to tow more if offered in the US, where the heavier GVWR gets tax advantaged but does not require a CDL.

the criticism was that gm tried to sell the volt as 100% ev, they were hiding that it was just a hybrid, which was not an really an issue... they refused to acknowldge that it was a hybrid for stupid reasos

You should be talking to the government. They are the ones mandating EV's, not the manufacturers.
Now,...THAT......I can kind of afford. $80K to $100K is NEVER going to be in my budget. UNDER $50K? I'll buy one today!
Can you guys also review the BYD Leopard 5? It's going to be a serious gamechanger in the offroad market.
All electric technology just isn’t there yet to be feasible for most Americans, but something like this is!
would take it over a cybertruck
Tesla had the chance to build a useable ev truck, but instead they gave us that POS…
That's a no brainer 😂😆
exactly!!!! 🤠
I'd take a 1975 Chrysler Imperial over a Cybertruck. Other things I'd take over a Cybertruck include bell bottoms, a flat tire, gas station sushi, and scurvy...
@@JamesPhieffer 😂😆 that's a great list
I've had the "Other Brands", I don't have Brand Loyalty when the current Manufacturers Charge so much for their Trucks. I'd Buy a BYD in an INSTANT just to shove it in the faces of every other manufacturer that can't build a more thought-out vehicle! This is what WE need, NOW!!! I'm tired of the "CAN'T DO", instead reinvent themselves because people want more!!! BYD for the Win!!!
Byd is no joke...I wish they can sell in the US free market
As others have commented a No Brainer .it's about time someone made a PROPER hybrid light truck
Here in Oz, the BYD Seal also gives the Tesla Model 3 a run for the money-it's cheaper and has better build quality and a traditional dashboard. Western manufacturers should be worried, really.
FYI - the Ford Ranger is not available with a hybrid option here (yet).
US auto makers charged high price already, then dealers mark up 10-25%…
Customers get scammed twice
@@PistonAvatarGuy hong kong? those were old gens. Actually byd's buses have been running in California for years.
@@mikahoIic No, in New Mexico, just a few years ago.
@@mikahoIic From what I can find, CA only ran 4 buses for a year as an experiment. Anyway, hopefully they don't catch on in the US, there are American bus manufacturers that need to succeed.
@@PistonAvatarGuy good to know that. If it is a few years ago, I can understand that. EV cars are developing super fast these years. Even 2 years is making a big difference.
you forgot to mention an important spec! This is a PHEV with CCS1 support. very few PHEVs have this option!
This is the reason that the auto industry in the US has lobbied to get a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs. This tariff does nothing but allows US auto sellers to languish in their development and innovation and coming out with any new EV technology
If the mainstream media's narrative is to not buy Chinese products, then I'm buying 2 of each. Looks like a good truck.
You guys should find a way to buy one and register it in Mexico, and then bring it to Colorado for less than a year to make a bunch of TFL truck content on it. I’d love to see this truck take on the Ike
They could if they had Mexican/American duel citizenship
Equipped as shown in the video, for something like $35,000 USD, this vehicle could be taken seriously here. Headlines-grabbing prices, solid build, and insane warranty coverage could plant the seeds.
IMO no way they could get it down to $35K m its at USD $50K in Mexico and that is covering China's shipping cost . I think even if they build a plant Guadalajara it was still be in that $50K range. but if they ever made a basic , hybrid at $35 o $40 J , would sell like hotcakes 🤠
@uncledeeproductions8854 40k. It will sell like hotcakes
@@uncledeeproductions8854 actually this car has a suv brother called leopard 5 in China with more powerful powertrain (700hp). The price is right around 30000 USD after tax.
Because Japan is an ally and a democracy. China is a communist adversary. That's the difference. If toyota made this, there would be no tariffs.
Bring BYD to Canada and the US! If competitors can’t compete then they need to smarten up!
The American manufactures have eroded their brand loyalty with their excessively high prices.
You can get sub 30K Chevy 1500's, low 30K ram 1500 and mid 30k F150's, how cheap do you think they can make these? These are actually LOW when you adjust for inflation. Stop speccing out platinums or tungstens and there are plenty of deals out there. Personally looking at a low 50K 2500 LARAMIE. Heck even the dollar store raised prices by 25%.
Turns out it's a little cheaper to pay a factory worker in China than a UAW worker..
@@briancavanaugh7604this! Nobody is buying work trucks for a daily, they are out there but everyone wants the best, then bitches their Platinum or tungsten is too expensive
Not to mention the planned obsolecents with these goofy design decisions.
Don't forget poor quality materials and manufacturing.
I. am a huge Toyota fan, especially LC, I want this thing in US because this thing will keep Toyota honest. In China, a fully loaded Toyota Camry is 22K usd, you can’t even get a Corolla for that price here
