U guys did it! Just the fact Chevy let's you drive home (from the press driving event) in their brand new 2020 Silverado HD is amazing accomplishment! Congratulations!
Like how often do you need to look if it's on or off. What would be more helpful is the exhaust break staying on so, you don't have to check if it's on after turning your truck off and on. As it is now in the Chevrolet, the exhaust break must be reapplied at each start-up.
Not sure abort the new models, but my 2011 and 2018 have no dash indicator for the engine brake. The light is on the entire time you’re driving. The light means it’s activated, or will work when needed. It does not tell you when it is actually working or functioning.
We are de-evolving. I am sure of it. If it is too much to look a little bit to your right vs a little down to see if the brake is on, then something is wrong with you. Really. It is getting ridiculous. And yes, I am a miserable old bugger!
Andre was criticized before for not knowing anything about trucks. I always thought it was just trolling. But at the same time Andre has become an expert and the entire TFL brand is respected in the auto review industry. You guys have developed a very reputable testing system for trucks and I think manufacturers are paying close attention. Credit to the entire team, and Mr Truck, but a lot of credit to Andre. Your style is great. It’s a winner.
I have to agree, Daniel they become my go to when I’m researching a new pick up only add my comments to add to their knowledge many other people are doing the same thing to
My 55 Chevy had one two options, an Hydramatic transmission and a wrap-around rear window. The transmission didn't last long, but the granny 4 speed was bulletproof. The rear window was nice. I don't know if the heater was an option but it had one. Turn those wing windows in and windows down, you had 4/60 a/c.
When driving a Ram downhill with a trailer, (I do this for a living), I take off cruise control, and trailer tow haul, and use my foot with full engine brake on. It works really nice for long steep downgrades. Try it.
Justin Seeton to help you make your decision about reliability think about this, there is a reason almost all industrial companies use Cummins engines exclusively.
@@justinseeton5240 I can agree on the engine part, Cummins is a great engine. But for anything else on the trucks ain't known for reliability, Front end issues, Rustings issues ect
BIGGIEDEVIL same here, I’ve been watching TFL since almost the beginning but was never nearly as consistent until Andre became a bigger part of the program. He’s the man!
It's Private easy there big man. I’m sure he’s referring to the fact that they’re the biggest things TFL reviews 99.9% of the time. From a fellow trucker....
just think all the crap we are doing to our emissions and nothing with the environment has change in the direction the government wants! Gas and diesel!
The most capable Chevy HD truck ever, I am impressed. I don't think Chevy's new HD is ugly at all, I just wouldn't buy a High Country because of all the chrome. Thanks for sharing Kent and Andre.
That's impressive. a 3/4 ton at almost max tongue and 90% trailer weight rating finished in a draw with a 1 ton dually pulling at roughly half it's rated maximums.
Its really not as impressive as you think. All that stops the 2500s from legally pulling 30k like the 3500 is a little sticker... It's not like the engine can't do it it's the same one in the 3500. So they are working with the same power. Why wouldnt they be equal. All the dually has on it is load stability
@@jasonwilliams3223 I agree with your statement except that this Chevrolet has 3.42 rear gears. Im basically positive the dually will only be available with 4.11's. that is a HUGE detail, and makes a very big difference in real world towing and acceleration
Rocky Ognio the 10 speed trans on the Chevy should wash any gearing advantage between the two i would think. Also keep in mind that in this test the GVWR would almost certainly be much more with the ram given they pulled the same trailer weight.
@@jtugwell I think you missed my point. The ram in the video is rated to tow double what it is towing in the video. The Chevrolet is towing it's maximum capacity. The Chevy version that tows double this weight has taller rear gears. So, it is reasonable to assume this ram would have a very difficult time towing a 30000 pound trailer in the same conditions, while the Chevrolet dually rated to tow 30000 lbs would only see a roughly 20% increase in engine load vs 50% for the ram.
That's not what he meant, it's automatic so even though it's on doesn't mean it stays on. If they press the gas a little it will stop braking, so it doesn't actually notify you when it's braking just that it's on
@@drhhodge8243 490? Holy smokes, that's alot of ponies. I wonder if the torque will be 1,025 or something. After a while, folks will need a CDL to drive these if not already. It's amazing how much power they are getting out of 6.7Ls. There has to be a limit and I guess that's where electric motors will eventually kick in.
Quadra you smoking meth again aren’t you, just quit, it makes you delusional and hostile. It’s bad for your teeth too. Maybe that’s what they decided to model the 2020 HD after, a meth addicts jacked up grill. I’ll stick to 2019 and earlier until Chevy does some dental work on their front end.
@Jr ALEXANDER Anyone can work on these trucks, you just need the tools and knowledge to do so which can get very expensive, thus why society has made these things like you mentioned called Dealers and Mechanic shops. And you don't have to go specifically to a dealer, just anyone that has the tools and ability to perform the work which should be any other major mechanic shop so there's a lot of options.
Agreed. The pricing for what's mostly a toy is financial Stupidity. Even as a work truck, a medium duty crew cab is much smarter to buy with far better real work options and less yachtboy BS.
You guys are THE authority when it comes to pickup truck reviews! Never would have thought I'd see such a comparison so soon! Keep it up guys! I have to admit the Chevy HD is growing on me slightly, but when compared to the Ram HD, Chevy needs a facelift fast! That Ram is IMO the best looking truck on the market hands down.
At the 16:00 and 17:00 mark they both commented on how well the single wheeled Chevrolet performed (in handling) top notch over the Ram 3500 with dual wheels. Later when the dually wheeled Chevy is out, I'd say that will provide you with equal towing capacity. I own the 2020 2500HD Sierra and love it.
If you are going to be pulling over 10-15K regularly, you're a FOOL not to get a dually. The stability and piece of mind that comes with have 4 good tires planted on the ground, they are SOO much more sure footed than the SRW trucks.......
So 90ftlb of torque more towing 1/2 its capacity and you impressed it kept up with the Chevy that was maxed out? I like ram but it didn’t show well here....
Tyler Sutherland how did it not show well? It's 1200 pounds heavier had 2 more wheels which makes more drag , got better fuel economy ,both had same time. The Ram looked a helluva lot better in side and out. Put a 30000 pound trailer on the Chevy and see how it does the ass end would be on the ground. The ram has already pulled 30000 pounds Ford and done well, I never saw the Chevy pull 30000 pounds but I bet it wouldn't be any better than ram or ford.
David Harris The computers aren’t accurate enough to say that it actually got better fuel economy. Ram did just as well towing 1/2 is capacity as the smaller Chevy did towing its max capacity that’s not impressive
Joshua King the things is you can actually have the monochrome on all the trims. There is packages in all the trim levels that include the monochrome grill.
I would disagree with new trucks not coming around that often. I just got rid of my 2012 Duramax, and it’s already two generations old, time absolutely flies. Anyway, love your videos guys!
Congrats on convincing GM to get one to TFLT for a first run up/down the Ike Gauntlet. Nice even handed comparison of what appears to be very different trucks. In the future when you have more access to the GM products I would like to hear how comparable gas, and separately, diesel SRWs do in longer towing runs with some reference to driver comfort. As a tall person, from the waist up, I'm finding many of these newer trucks have a seat height that leaves me with a forward vision that's a bit too high even after adjusting seats. This year is a new truck year for me so I look forward to reviews of the 3/4 and 1 ton SRW trucks.
I don't put much faith in anyone at TFL. The day Mr. Truck said that the 5.0 Coyote V8 was the same as the 302 V8 from way back in the 80's and 90's they lost all credibility in terms of the technical aspect of the show. Now he's saying the big truck Ram body changed in 1984. Outstanding I enjoy watching the videos for the vehicles. As a professional truck driver, I kind of know what I'm looking at in terms of the trucks capabilities based off the videos. I'm still trying to figure out what it is these two clowns are looking at in terms of their criteria for "braking down hill". It's really simple with a big truck. You turn the exhaust brake on. then if you have the cruise set, the exhaust brake comes on at about 3-4 mph above your cruise. If you touch the brakes, the exhaust brake comes on. In either case the vehicles speed should decrease. Then if the big truck is an auto shift, it will start dropping gears. With a manual you usually have the gear set for the max speed, then the exhaust brake helps, then you stab brake if necessary. Grade, load, road conditions, weather conditions all factor in as well. I have no idea what these two are expecting. The laws of physics don't change because you're driving a Ram 3500 or a Silverado 2500 HD. The exhaust brake is a tool to help you, but you may need to use braking and gear shifting. I think this is completely lost on them due to limited experience pulling trailers. The differences in the trucks weights and styles of transmissions plays a little into the mpg, barking and overall performance. But based off the owners needs, either truck would be a solid purchase. I'm a Ford guy myself, but either truck seems like it would be good for it's intended use. I'm pretty sure these trucks are designed to run at max weight performance. Not, max weight at highest mph and mpg going up a 7% grade for 8 miles. The Ram can do 35k in all conditions suspension and power wise. It's braking and mpg and max speed will suffer, but it'll pull 35k. I think this was a really good comparison to show you if you're buying a truck, what both can do. if you need to pull x amount of weight, you don't necessarily need to spend more money on a top trim level dually. They just happened to luck out. I think they're both idiots who have little concept of what they're doing. But at least Andre is a journalist with the ability to convey his message in an articulate fashion. It'll be great when he can figure out what the message is. Didn't mean to ramble on, and I should probably put this in the regualr comments. But I caught that 1984 style change and was like, wth?
The Ram EB has two modes, full and auto by pressing the same button. That’s why there’s an indicator on the gauge cluster. Chevy has on and off so yeah the light on the button is the indicator.
Cummins and Asin all the way. I know it's a Ram, but until you drive one every day you wont understand. Nothing wrong with the Chevy, but hey it's a straight six cummins. It's a beast!
Impressive!! As a gm dude I thought you all were crazy to put that much pin weight on 2500. But it did great. Personally i like the looks of Ram better, but if i dumped my 2018 hd, I'd pic the GMC out of all of them. Wishing ford would hurry up with their new one, things of people are waiting .
@@derekortiz3663 doesn't Chev still have better resale value???? Ford brags about sales #'s always but seems Chevy consistently holds it value better...
I know on my 2018 ram it changes the transmission tuning. Two separate files on the tow haul on or off. Don’t remember if it changed the engine tuning at all. It also make the engine break stay on much lower speed. When the tow/haul is off the engine break disengages at 55mph.
I think the last-gen GM trucks looked pretty good. Can’t say the same for the new ones. The half-ton Chevys manage to look bloated and overcomplicated at the same time and the HD models look like they want to eat you.
Andre, the United Express Aircraft you filmed in the first minute of this video is operated by Skywest Airlines. You can see on the nose of the aircraft, the numbers 794. @@ChrisSmith-ig9jq With the GVWR (think of it like the truck is on a scale) where the vehicle curb weight, fuel, people, cargo, 5th wheel, goose neck, or tongue weight combined can't legally exceed the truck's GVWR. There is also a separate GVWR for the front and rear axles as well.

Hey I have been a long time viewer of your IKE challenge. I appreciate what you guys do. One thing I would like to see come back and maybe even better implemented would be more camera time on the instrument cluster. As viewers we don't get the experience but viewing the speedo and tach we can get a go idea how well the truck is holding speed, utilizing the transmission and ultimately putting its power down. Your older IKE runs have more camera and discussion time on the performance during the hill climb. Now you guys cram a climb into a small time frame and give us an end time leaving much of the experience of the climb left out. The time of the climb is only a small piece of data from the climb and really only shows if you held the speed limit. Hopefully you can take this as purely constructive criticism. I know you guys put a lot of time into this but I feel like the down hill braking portion has taken away from the IKE climbing experience we used to get.

If you're serious about towing heavy loads, please get a dually. It's not about the load, it's about the traction. Namely, if you're going downhill on a wet or gravel road, the trailer can and will push the truck out of the way (jackknife). Having that extra traction is really really nice for that.
I appreciate you boys doing a an early test. Kind of makes you think, ram has 1000 ft lbs vs. chevys 910. Ram has 4.10 gears vs. chevy 3.42. Chevy made it 2 seconds faster., Holy cow. They must know something we don't lol. Great job guys.
The final drive ratio (after going thru both the transmission and diff) is lower on the Chevy than the Dodge. And the Chevy has more gears in the middle to select from. Thank you for taking the time to prove my point. And yes chevy has more gears, its called technology.
They all pretty much use the same mechanics other than different gear ratios potentially. A dually just gives you more stability and a stiffer suspension for a higher payload. It's typically always better to have too much rather than too less, but it's really going to depend on what kind of trailer and towing you're going to be doing.
I think it would be cool to have all three manufacturers provide a 2500 and 3500 to be able to test how much of an advatage it is to get a 1 ton over the 3/4

You guys used to show more content from inside the cab and do direct comparisons. Now it's a lot of production and B-roll. I like the channel but you didn't show the speedo speeds from take off, didn't show what the gauges were reading in the Chevy and the most important part, you used to make sure to specify when you got to the toughest part of the hill to watch the gauges and speeds.
I'd go with the GMC and if you can afford it the Denali. I bought a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax Denali just a couple months ago and absolutely love this current L5P Duramax! The Ram 3500 can tow over 35,000lbs as shown in video The GMC 3500HD Denali dually (in a similar configuration cab and box to the ram) can tow only 20,000lbs
@@mattk741, that's what their numbers show. We all know that in the real world the only people that pay attention to that are the DOT, lol. They will actually all tow more than they can safely stop.
Hi Glenn, I apologize if I missed something obvious in your statement. But what did you mean by that?¿?. Because of the gears or because of the sizing of the trucks??? I don't know anything about gering so the numbers don't represent anything special?? Are the gears for each company about as close to each other as they can possibly be? Personally I'm impressed that either one of them could maintain that speed with that much weight and a 7% grade!!!
Yes your right, but your also forgetting 3.42 10 speed vs 6 speed 4.10 It should level the playing Field And they said they couldn’t get a dully Silverado that would probably end up having 3.73 Anyways
What it means is that Dmax engine is making more torque and the advertised torque numbers are off! Those 4.10 gears should way out pull those 3.42’s on that climb. Gearing = torque multiplication in the engineering world! The 10 speed trans will have a bearing because gearing is torque multiplication. The Dmax has more HP but the Cummins has more torque, but HP wins assuming you are properly geared, where the 10 speed comes in! The Dmax as a package outperforms the Cummins as a package!!! Always has no matter what any loyalist say, physics is physics!!!
Not to mention the 2500 has taller tires then the dually which equals less acceleration and deceleration . Means the chevy dually is going to stomp the ram. Just like every year they do this test
Now think of what a 1 ton chevy with 4.10 gears will do vs the 3.42 gears you had in the demo, the 4.10 gears would exponentially increase the bottom end torque and acceleration !
When you do all three in the fall could you get it that they are all spec out the same. Can't do anything about the trans but have the same diff ratios? This was an interesting evaluation. I've only ever seen a couple but have you ever pulled tandem trailers with dual wheels? Drivers claimed the same that they were the easiest trailers they had ever pulled and handling was greatly improved. That would be an interesting comparison if you could get identical trailers loaded with the same weight only with one single the other dual.
Should probably get them all at the max capacity. Because the Ford and chevy will have a bigger advantage with the 10-speeds over a Ram with lower ratio.
The 2500 HD had an advantage lol. It's a lighter truck than the dually and has less friction on the ground. It's pretty impressive on how it handled the trailer safely with no concerns. But as far as speed going up the hill, fuel mileage, and braking coming down the hill, the Chevy had an advantage just because it's a lighter truck. The 1 ton is going to use the same motor and transmission but will be a little heavier so we may expect a slight decrease in performance.
Great job guys now I'm interested in when u hook a big trailer on, 16k I'm surprised the chevy didnt dominate but when you bring those 30k trailers that's when the inline 6 shines. Such interesting videos:)
@@jamespenner1412 Using a 1 ton to tow 30k pounds is kind of dumb though lol. I don't see very many people using these trucks to tow that much weight anyway. I think a 16k pound trailer, maybe up to 20-23k is going to be the most people tow with these so that's what should really be focused on.
Quite honestly, it seems as though we are at a point where the trucks are all going to perform pretty damn equally. I dont expect any 1 truck to be a stand out winner. They will all tow anything you put behind them, and they will all do it in comfort. Now it's just down to personal opinions. On a side note, you guys at TFL Truck have the best job. Getting paid to play with trucks, and discuss it online. How could it get better?
Amazing what these new trucks can do with braking and power going up hill, far more impressive then older trucks. Do you know what the EGTs were going up hill? I limited in speed going up hill by EGTs of 1200.
There are a lot of issues at play. Gearing on the Ram is shorter. There is a optional 3.73 ratio for the Ram. If that were used it would be slightly slower. Up the mountain favors the Ram. Both are losing power coming up but torque, gearing and dually setup does help the Ram.
Drw doesn't make either faster. GM has already put out their drw is faster from a stop unloaded and loaded with 18k vs a similar Ram model in video. The srw is faster model here. Up a hill is where all can change.Ram 2500 model doesn't have HO engine. Only 3500 srw can have that option. C&D have tested the weaker 2500 and HO Mega cab 3500. Numbers weren't impressive with either. When TFL does their drw drag race Ram will be last again.
I have the 2017 Duramax and drove from Denver all the way through the range to Grand Junction with the cruise control on pulling a 6'000'ish lb trailer. Your reviews are really good! I would love to see Ram 3500 Dually 3.73 vs 4.10 ratio. For me, I only need to pull the fifth wheel up to 17,000 on two axles or 20,000 lbs on three axles. I don't understand why you don't use cruise going down hill, if the exhaust brake is on, the computer should apply the exhaust brake automatically as well as down shift the transmission. Hell the cruise control on my 13 year old KW will use the engine brake as long as I have it turned on. I was more surprised by how little gear hunting the Chevy did, than how well either truck pulled the hill.
Has anyone heard of def tank issues on the diesels when plowing ? I heard there are issues with sensors mounted low. I just drove a 2020 Denali and under the passenger side there is 2 plugs and open wires that look like they would corrode or break off when Plow or back dragging deep snow
Nicer is subjective, coming from a 2019 Ram 2500 owner. I sat in both, both had a good materials used, the Rams are just laid out in a more creative way in my opinion. Go sit in a new Ford, you can definitely get a "cheaper" vibe when touching around and knocking with your knuckles compared to the other two. My Power Wagon is a fully loaded version but it was only 66k here in Canada, my friend has an F450 Platinum that stickered for 114k Cad and it's interior is vastly inferior in my opinion.
I've been driving trucks for 50 years. I don't know about pickups, but I suspect they are similar(diesels at least)to big rigs. If you want to make the engine pull harder than the pedal on the floor, engage cruise control and give it a few tips to encourage it to go faster. I've spoken with lots of other drivers and they all said their rigs would pull harder with the cruise on. I'd like to test those pickups with my experience.

Cummins is better.
The exhaust brake button is illuminated orange on the Silverado HD when it is active that's how it tells you.
Justin Thurman But in the ram you can look that more easy in the cluster
Like how often do you need to look if it's on or off. What would be more helpful is the exhaust break staying on so, you don't have to check if it's on after turning your truck off and on. As it is now in the Chevrolet, the exhaust break must be reapplied at each start-up.
I haven't read the manual, but I suspect it also turns on tow/haul mode, and that does display on the dash.

Remember when trucks had crank windows, bench seat, and you weren’t afraid to scratch them.....Pepperidge farm remembers.
100% we need to see dually to dually comparison

Da Farmer they stopped offering manuals after 2018.
Forget a manual, I'll leave that for my GTO and Camaro. I love my Allison transmission behind my Dirtymax!
When driving a Ram downhill with a trailer, (I do this for a living), I take off cruise control, and trailer tow haul, and use my foot with full engine brake on. It works really nice for long steep downgrades. Try it.
Should not have to take out of cruise or haul mode? My gas chevy does it automatically.

94 is when the semi tractor design was introduced on the dodge, not 84
Great video! Enthusiasm was awesome as well. I was too surprised at the results. Let's hope you guys get the dualie for the Silverado soon to test

The dually has one more thing, stability with larger trailers or 5th wheels.
I have a 2500 and 3500 Chevy the 3500 is a dually, feels so much safer in the dually, no comparison.
Wow! I knew the Cummins punched above its weight, but I can’t believe it tied the Chevy with 4 less gears and 50 less horsepower. Absolutely amazing.
So 90ftlb of torque more towing 1/2 its capacity and you impressed it kept up with the Chevy that was maxed out?
I like ram but it didn’t show well here....
Big difference in gearing tho.....

Outstanding
I enjoy watching the videos for the vehicles.

But if you look at the display you have above, the dodge final drive is lower all the way from second to both trucks top gear(which they never get into anyway at 60 mph to the floor). Thank you for taking the time to prove my point. And yes chevy has more gears, its called technology.
Technically this is the perfect video I been looking for. Ive been torn between dually and single wheel for a fifth wheel travel trailer.
They all pretty much use the same mechanics other than different gear ratios potentially. A dually just gives you more stability and a stiffer suspension for a higher payload. It's typically always better to have too much rather than too less, but it's really going to depend on what kind of trailer and towing you're going to be doing.
So is that a 7/8 ton Chevy?
I think it would be cool to have all three manufacturers provide a 2500 and 3500 to be able to test how much of an advatage it is to get a 1 ton over the 3/4
My first truck was a brand new 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super 20 4x4, and it cost $7,400 off the lot back then. These trucks today look like luxury starships by comparison. They are amazing, but for some reason, as amazing as the new trucks are these days, my heart is with that old 72 Cheyenne. Man I’d love to get behind the wheel of that old 72 again.
I love TFL truck. Andre, you are the best!
Agreed. For the comparison it should have had a dash video for the whole test.. And outside view minus the two yapping their BS
When will you test the towing capability of the 2019 6.4 hemi 2500 with the new 8 speed @ The Fast Lane Truck
great info as iv been looking at both fror my next truck iv been leaning twards the chevy or gm like the trailer pack they offer on the 2020
I'd go with the GMC and if you can afford it the Denali. I bought a 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax Denali just a couple months ago and absolutely love this current L5P Duramax! I do wish I had the new 10 speed transmission and new chassis/body but I couldn't pass up the $10k price drop on the 19's as GM is motivated to get them sold before the 20's hit the lot.
@@guardrail2897 Let me guess, you're the fat ugly dude that is always worried about other people's opinions, right? That "fat ugly chick" was probably the best thing that ever happened to you. Psst... you're being laughed at anyway LOL
If they are still using the cp4 injection pump I’d plan on putting a good lift pump on it. I run a 16 for work and the injection pump went out. Cost 9k to replace and delete the truck. Swapped it to a cp3 injection pump. From what I found the cp4 struggles to stay lubricated since there is no longer a lift pump. Dodge stuck with the cp3 and does not have the same issues.
@@mikebarcus1594 nope here's an article you might be interested in blog.calibratedpower.com/blog/all-you-need-to-know-about-the-l5p
2017 they went to the L5P Duramax and it's nearly a completely different engine. The fuel pump is now a Denso HP4, the fuel injectors have been improved, now has a factory lift pump, there's a new turbo and a bunch more. The LML fuel pump issue was part of my reason for trading in but I've got a few friends that pull way more than do and work their LML more than I ever have and have 4x the milage and have had zero issues so it's really unknown if you'll ever have a problem.
The new GM is nice but if it’s a toss up. The new interior on the Ram is the tie breaker for me.
Love the front end of the new Chevy.. Eclectic!.it grows on you .. and not playing it safe like Dodge and Ford
Why was the trip meter 7.9 miles in the Ram and 8.2 miles in the GM....?
That doesn’t make sense
Then it should say more miles you dummy
Great review, I love your Ike Gauntlet videos! Are you going to do an updated gasser comparison any time soon? I'd love to see an updated test of the new Ram with the 6.4L Hemi. I'm really curious if the new 8-speed ZF makes a marked improvement over the old 6-speed.
Yes, please.
The ram has a huge gearing advantage I'm tired of people talking about stability and Dooleys really not that much other than holding the extra weight I have driven both as a professional driver
I'd love to see a GMC 3500HD Dually test on the Ike.
I'm not sure I'm sold on Dodge. Same with Ford.
I'm leaning towards a GMC 3500HD Dually to pull my future 35 or 42 foot fifth wheel.
Peace!..
The Ram 3500 can tow over 35,000lbs as shown in video
The GMC 3500HD Denali dually (in a similar configuration cab and box to the ram) can tow only 20,000lbs
Matt Kay ...GM 3500 dually's can tow 35,500 lbs on the new generation starting with the 2020 trucks.
@@mattk741, that's what their numbers show. We all know that in the real world the only people that pay attention to that are the DOT, lol. They will actually all tow more than they can safely stop.
@@mattk741 ram cannot tow over 35000 pounds. 34,100 is the number your looking for, chevy out tows them by over 1000 pounds, sorry brody
NoStress90s kinda weird gm needs 8 cylinders while ram uses 6 and still hauls 35000+
your comparing a ram dually 3500 with a 4.10 rear to a 2500 with a 3.42 rear and they were equal? not much of a comparison.
Yes your right, but your also forgetting 3.42 10 speed vs 6 speed 4.10
It should level the playing Field
And they said they couldn’t get a dully Silverado that would probably end up having 3.73 Anyways
Want to see the 2500/3500 AT4 with the new transmission
Love all your channels, you guys are great. Keep up the great work!
Have a 2019 denali love it
Omg!! I've been waiting for this video.
I'm so impressed by the 2500 HD. It matches the Ram Dually from the 3/4 ton place. 😯😯😯
I would like to this truck with some beefier rear-end options. 3.42 stinks
a chevy 2500 HD is just a 3500 with different badges, so its actually pretty much a 1 ton
How could it get better?
wlabishler 1 my opinion is that I like all the trucks, they all look badass
Amazing what these new trucks can do with braking and power going up hill, far more impressive then older trucks. Do you know what the EGTs were going up hill? I limited in speed going up hill by EGTs of 1200.
That front end is going to cost them some sales like the styling on the 1500 did!
I have seen plenty of 1500s. They dont look too bad to lots of people
I have to agree. That 2500 is a fugly truck!
@@andybub45 they're the ugliest trucks on the market, I though ford and their lego body was bad but Chevy is screwing up.
So will those tow mirrors
Huh see both the 19 and the hd out and about they look good.
I'm surprised that the Chevy with the 10 speed gearbox didn't go up the mountain faster than the 6 speed RAM.
There are a lot of issues at play. Gearing on the Ram is shorter. There is a optional 3.73 ratio for the Ram. If that were used it would be slightly slower. Up the mountain favors the Ram. Both are losing power coming up but torque, gearing and dually setup does help the Ram.
Not to mention the Ram is heavier and is pushing more rotational weight.
Lol @ people thinking that DRW makes you faster.
3:05 That's only 50 lbs shy of the GVWR my 2009 3500HD Dually Silverado!
Exactly.
Best parts of this video:
-Mr. Truck hyped up!
-Andre so proud of himself driving up the Ike
-and two badass trucks!
I have the 2017 Duramax and drove from Denver all the way through the range to Grand Junction with the cruise control on pulling a 6'000'ish lb trailer. Granted not a huge trailer, but the truck held 70mph ( except for some turns and traffic now and then) the entire way both up and down the mountains. I only had to use the brakes once on a tighter turn right around the Vail area.
Has anyone heard the rumors that the newly refreshed Cummins engine is having failures or that they're coming back with low mile issues?
Probably cuz they're strangling it take all the emission junk off and it out do any of these trucks any day of the week
@@derektrujillo2292 for sure that's not new though...may just be an isolated case, hopefully no major issues w the revision by Cummins in general. Makes me super happy with my deleted and tuned 17
What was high country trans temp? You mentioned Ram but not the Chevy
That Cummins sounds sooo muffled. If I owned it, that exhaust and restrictions are coming off ASAP

Whats the hell was the curb weight??? Then Ram is pulling what 2,000lbs more?It would be very helpful to know how much each truck weights.....because that plays a big part going up/down hills.
I just went through the Eisenhower tunnel last week! My little rental was crying up it! 🤣 Love you guys keep it up!
Thanks
As much as you travel, you should use a sleeping bag insert. Reí has one that has built in bug protection, i think.
Jeff Forbess Bed, Bath has one for about $20.
Your reviews are really good! I would love to see Ram 3500 Dually 3.73 vs 4.10 ratio. For me, I only need to pull the fifth wheel up to 17,000 on two axles or 20,000 lbs on three axles. I was reading somewhere that 3.73 is better on 70 mph and 4.10 on 55 mph. My wife and I live on the east coast and I think we should get Ram 3500 Dually 3.73. Many thanks!
someone watched the mammoth car on speed racer as a kid. Now they design Chevys
I don't understand why tow/haul mode wasn't active on either of them.
Has anyone heard of def tank issues on the diesels when plowing ? I heard there are issues with sensors mounted low. I just drove a 2020 Denali and under the passenger side there is 2 plugs and open wires that look like they would corrode or break off when Plow or back dragging deep snow
and I don't think having the block heater connection placed at the lower corner of the front bumper makes much sense at all!

I’m a Chevy guy live the Silverado but I don’t think I’d be able to buy a Chevy truck knowing the rams interior is sooo much nicer
carlos caro im in a Tx of rams ALOT OF GM and CHEVY owners came to to RAM so I don’t disagree with you
I couldn't get over the Chevy's basic looking interior compared to the Ram's infinitely nicer interior.
I heard an interview from Ram, they put together an awesome team to design their interiors, and it shows!
The ram cost way more
I've been driving trucks for 50 years.
Can I ask why you guys avoid the slow lane? Driving
Because their standard towing test they do for all their videos the goal is to try and maintain 60mph the whole way up
