2025 Ram 1500 Hurricane 3.0l Laramie POV mpg drive | Interior & Exterior first impressions vs 2024

- For 2024 Ram refreshed the 1500 series pick up truck. The front and rear facia got some nice upgrades to the bumper and headlights and rear end. The big change for 2025 model year Ram 1500 is the 5.7l Hemi V8 has been replaced by the new Hurricane 3.0l twin turbo Inline 6 cylinder gas engine.
This engine comes in two variants for 2025 model year. The standard output which makes 420hp and 469 lb ft of torque or the High output version which makes 540hp and 521 lb ft of torque. This motor runs extremely well and I think many truck owners are going to be excited that this engine has replaced the antiquated Hemi engine.
I want to thank Dick Scott Motor Mall in Fowlerville Mi for allowing me to do this review on both trucks for you. If you are interested in any of these trucks please reach out to:

I love my 2020 Classic Tradesman. It’s been 100% reliable (and I drive a lot and am on construction sites). Although I’d like the bells and whistles of the higher models, I’m going to trade for a new 2024 Tradesman with the V8 before they’re discontinued. That should last me a long time in retirement.
Thanks for the comment!
Ram dealerships here in southern Alberta are stacked full of 23 trucks.
Discounts are there now but still not enough to get them moving.
10k off a 90k truck just isnt enough.....the price increases thru covid and later were just too much.
They hit 20k off then maybe.
Chev and GM dealerships are piling up,Ford getting 24s,Toyota never has much stock....doesn't mean they r selling alot.
Overall people here are slowing down on vehicle buying here.
Price,interest rates,taxes.....
I believe it. Are those 23s 1500s or 2500s?
@@CTECH-REVIEW
Both.....probably 70% 1500s
I sell vehicles just sold 2 , 2024 Rams 1500 Laramie. $11500 lease rebate… they arent staying around
Thanks for the info
No problem 👍
These turbo engines are not about fuel economy, they are emission compliant engines. Chances are they will have worst milage when towing and much higher maintenance and cost. Turbo replacements can often cost 4 to six thousand bucks (I recently retired from the auto service business) and if they are well taken care of, a turbo will usually last 80 to 120k miles on gas engines. On the new Tundra the cab has to be removed to access the turbos and for the first couple of years the waste gates failed. Can you imagine having those turbos replaced out of warranty?
Thank you for the comment!
That's why I'm not going to buy a turbo engine. I agree with what you're saying 100 percent. I don't care about the extra tourqe , these engines aren't as fuel efficient as advertised . Reliability, you said it all. Also 70k dollars for a truck ? No thank you . Keep it.
I got the 23 bighorn with hemi e torque. Been awesome first year.
@texastravelers210 and the hemi gets better mileage?? I have a 19 ram 5.7 hemi and while it gets better then I expected 21hwy and like 16-17 city.. the standard output hurricane clearly gets more fuel mileage.. 24mpg hwy with a 4x4?? Idk what u expect sometimes I think people live in fantasy land.
@@texastravelers210and these trucks haven't been out long enough to know they're not as efficient as advertised.
I trade every 3 years on my birthday and i almost always have been buying the Big Horn , I've been buyung Ram sense 1998 . To stop the squat put in Timbrens bump stops , it's easy to change out .
Great comment on timbrens!
Excellent review. Keep waiting to see one of these down here. Can't wait to check it out
Thank you @Samko!
Love ctech reviews!
Thank you my friend!
Thanks for the video. I’m interested in what tech the new ram uses to accomplish start stop. No more e torque so what’s doing it?
Etorque stays with 3.6l...video coming on that soon!
I can hardly wait to be the fourth owner of this vehicle!
It rips!!
Poor troll has tourets.
That might have 20K miiles or so on it by then though.
I like the new Laramie wheels, The night edition big horn wheels not sold on, flat back plastic clad covers. I looked at them at the dealer as well.
They look good !
I like the new wheels and love the interior.
Good review, but same truck since 2019. There is no difference other than the new twin turbo V6 and a few front facial and interior changes, it's the same amazing truck. The Hemi is a legendary motor not to be replaced by the Hurricane engine, at least in the near term., just yet. Everything is still the same!
I also noticed the front and rear bumper changed a little too! Not a lot, subtle but it is different.
I like the new front end (reminds me of the Limited version) , but those taillights are ugly! The 2024 Laramie L.E.D were much cleaner looking.
I agree!
So did they get rid of the running lights on the headlights of the Laramie. Are the only running lights the actual low beam bulb
Good point...I dont recall seeing it!
@@CTECH-REVIEW Man that sucks I love the looks of the new trucks especially the stock Laramie rims they are very nice but getting rid of the running light strips and going back to a regular turn signal bulb makes the front end look cheaper
Best vehicle on earth. #RAM
Thanks for watching
This engine has had some real world testing in the Jeep models. Im not really worried about its longevity versus the hemi. I would like to hear from Ram on the DI carbon buildup situation and related maintenance down the road. I know ford added port injectors to combat this but my understanding is the SST doesnt have that.
Good point. I forgot this is only DI and not port fuel injection.
The wheels on the Laramie have a GMC Sierra SLT vibe to them. I think they look good. Why are front recovery hooks an option or in a package ?? Seems like should be standard on any so called truck
I think tow hooks are part of off road package option on the non Rebel models
What was Payload on the Laramie with the Hurricane SST?
Wow...I cant believe I missed this! Let me circle back on this!!
the Big horn level 2 SST was 1633lb payload...that video is coming soon.
Hurricane has great power, it just doesn’t fit the truck vibe like the Hemi did. SST has a BMW and Mercedes luxury vibe, but that’s not what I want in a truck. I like big rumbling engines. Both gas and diesel!!
Very true
The new engine is for emissions not power or fuel economy. The 5.7 was an outdated engine sure but it’s still way better. For the price I would just go up to a Cummins you don’t want to drop all that money for an unreliable truck that won’t hold value. The only good thing about this new engine is the Ram’s with the 5.7 will go up in value. Sure the Hemi had a few issues but easy to fix and simple to work on. The Hemi is also reliable long term 350K miles is common. This new engine with 22+ pounds of boost isn’t going to make it very far, has a lot more moving parts, it will be popular for a couple years but look at the resale value now. These Rams will suffer the same fate. Now having said that in a smaller vehicle like a jeep it will probably be much better infact I would like to see an N/A 3.0 in the wrangler the 4.0 they had you couldn’t kill.
Thank you for the comment!
The biggest fail on these trucks is dropping the LED tail lights on the bighorn Laramie and the rebel. You can spend up to 80,000 on a Laramie or rebel but yet you have incandescent bulbs for the hole rear light. It’s a 2025, make everything LED standard across the board.
Thank you for your comments!
blows my mind that they didnt include the led accent strip around the headlights on the laramie.
Was it on the 23 and 24? I couldn't remember.
The Duke says, not impressed with 17 mi to a gallon with a 6 cylinder engine. He was not even in stop-and-go traffic. Should have kept the hemi.
What did I teach you?
Thanks for watching!
What was the payload for this Laramie?
Sorry I missed that, but video posting tomorrow gives that information for a Laramie sport!!
I’m interested on how it does the start stop function. Now the e torque is gone…
You will see! Smooth operation.
@@CTECH-REVIEWhow are they technically accomplish the start stop? Remember why they did e torque?
Junk toilet

I honestly don't get the direction Stellantis is going with prices. The 2025 Laramie has less options and tech than my 2021 Rebel, yet the Laramies MSRP is $10k more. I would expect the newer truck to give you more bang for the buck, not less.
I can’t disagree but it’s not just Stellantis. I have driven every manufacture vehicle in the full-size truck lineup for 2024 model year everybody’s playing the same game unfortunately
Do you know what grade of fuel you can run with this engine
Great question my understanding 87 regular octane will suffice
@@CTECH-REVIEW I can't find anything on it. But the dealership says it runs on premium
Do they have a tungsten?
Not yet!
70k for a truck with no front tow hooks? I say no thanks but then when you pointed out that is says RAM on the back I thought ok maybe but then you showed that is has purple coolant and I said , now that is a bargain.
Haha!😂
Best interior. Best tranny. Now Best motor. NOT close
They got a great truck!
70K w analog dash and basic speakers and no pano. just put a 2.7 eco in every truck
Thanks for watching!
18.1 mpg.... Meanwhile my hemi was averaging 18.5 on the way home oveer a 90 mile drive last night/
Not bad !
Wow, $67000 and no 360 cameras???
sad right!
No V8 No buy.. ill be sticking with Ford and GM for the v8 trucks for 2025 and future trucks
Thank you for your comment!
So many do nothing cry babies
Plus the engine is not fully broken in yet.
Exactly! Should get better.
What is horsepower number
420 HP, 469 TQ
Thanks for watching 420 so
Stallatis is gonna kill Ram as we know it!😢😢😢
It will be interesting to see how everything plays out!
RAM only with Hemi V8
Tough combo to beat, but new hurricane has some great power!
@@CTECH-REVIEW
?? 3.0 L highly bred - 550 HP
Really ??
I still see the same truck
I thought the same thing until the video that will be posting in a few days and actually the front bumpers and rear bumper is shaped differently as well. It’s subtle, but it is different.
They didn’t change enough, fail!! What they didn’t forget to do was raise the price lol
From what I’ve scene prices are down slightly
Prices did go up! but to be fair the interior was already great! The new hurricane I think is a great upgrade over the Hemi!
way overpriced. I hope they going bankrupt. Same as the jeep junk.
My fifth generation ram that I purchased in 2018 Bighorn level two package which was LEDs. I paid $50,000 back 2018 .. I still have it today with 80,000 miles zero issues. I don’t know how many times I was getting ready to pull the trigger on another vehicle, but I never did.
@@davebasey9863 I had a 22 ram Laramie. Now I have a 23 tundra. Rams ride good
Rear window probably still leaks and ruins all your electronics.
Thanks for watching
less towing and less payload over the Hemi.......
Is it really? My understanding is the tow ratings actually increased. Thank you for the comment and for watching.
If I can't get a V8 I will not buy a another ram again.
I think turbos are bad news.
Thanks for the comment.
They are if you drive a newer tundra 😁
