Bleh tier seems downright charitable.
The only reason it's that high, didn't feel right putting it next to Lord of the Rings, a game that copy/pastes it's stage design ad nauseam. Say what I will about UROV2 somebody designed unique levels and I respect that

Well some, like the kings of Ultima 1, get their jollys by kidnapping princesses. Others just have an itch that can only be scratched by a saucy mayor.

The Black Knight sure seems a bit......yeaaaaah, if you saw Spoony's review, you'd know hes a wee bit too obsessed with hiding the mayor in his )ahem) dungeon just to annoy the king.

Can't wait for your video on the PC port of Ultima VII the black gate to the SNES. If you loved Runes of Virtue as much as you did, you'll sure have a blast playing the SNES port of Ultima VII. :)
It can’t be much worse than Ultima V for the NES.
I'm currently familiarising myself with Ultima in chronoligical order on console and PC. The waiting forever for a passing pirate ship feature is faithful to the series. The bouncing heads (?) are probably less so.
Thanks for the entertaining warning for me to give this particular entry in the series the mother of all body swerves!
That last dungeon seems like it drew inspiration from the original Tomb of Horrors module for DnD.

We were just happy to have another RPG. It was still kind of a niche genre at the time.
Also we aren't whiny little bitches about minor inconveniences or *gasp* learning a game through trial and error! OH NO ERROR!!

How can you rank this game so low? Britannia is grateful for all you've done! OMG the ending is so anticlimactic I started laughing! Just a close up of the King's ugly mug and everyone else in the room sneaks out while you're distracted. Oh and you get the pleasure of being able to keep playing the game!

Playing this game for the first time on my Miyoo mini+ I’ve got about 4 mayors rescued so far but after seeing how massive that last dungeon is I doubt I’ll beat it

This came out the same year as Donkey Kong Country and Final Fantasy 6. I'm actually embarrassed for the developers, this is a trainwreck.

Western RPGs have a different design philosophy compared to eastern RPGs.

Usually the design philosophy is a lot better than just "bad." Nothing was stopping Runes of Virtue 1 from being great, so clearly it's not the national design philosophy that ruined 2.

this is an older video, but at 13:33, the room full of treasure chests, you say you can't tell which are mimics until you open them, but that's not true. look at the coloring, the ones that are mimics are lighter colored, the gray is a very small shade lighter for the ones that are mimics.
You’re right! This is one of those instances where the tell showed up much better on capture than it did while I was playing. I should have just cut the line

The Life Is Strange collection only has the first game. It's a collection because it was released episodically.

You probably need to play Ultima V, VI, or VII on PC someday to see peak Ultima, why these games were being ported.
Perhaps a script will solve the long pauses and half sentences. It's why people wrote them. They sound way better. It's the same reason everyone hates improv
Runes of Virtue 2 on the Gameboy is surprisingly good if you give it time but this one is just like a weird lazy port. Kind of like Batman Return/Revenge on the NES/Genesis, The Genesis version had the potential and should have been better but it's not at all.
I'm going to become a better programmer, just so that I can make a game that annoys people this much.
