    Wow, what a surprise. Most guys would have just listed everything absolutely wrong, going on a tirade, and I wouldn't blame them because it's a lot easier to make content being critical, and deconstructing a design, especially when you've got experience wrenching, and building these engines...but you gave credit where it was due! Takes a big man to look at things from the positive perspective. Heck, made me feel/look like a hater critical of the Mopar, when I'm supposed to be the Mopar guy Lol!

    Nice video. One additional fun fact: I worked at Chrysler HQ from 2002 - 2007 and near the end of the Chrysler/Daimler debacle, the new directive was to place a Hemi in everything and damn near all efforts were placed into making that happen. Fast forward to today, and you see the fruit of that labor.

    The 5.7 is more responsive to mods than the 6.4, that’s why you don’t see many fully built and modded 392s, it just makes more sense to just get a Hellcat. It’s also not like you can’t build a 1200 hp LT, Hennessy will even give you a warranty.

    • @FecalMattur
      @FecalMattur 10 місяців тому +4

      Has much less to do with any of that and much more to do with the build cost for the Apache 6.4 due to the height of the ringlands. You have to internally build a 6.4 before doing any boost mods or nitrous whereas the 5.7 comes plenty capable of doing either from the factory. It's more cost effective, but the 6.4 is absolutely capable of having a killer build with high horsepower, I've seen them before. Including a TT (twin 58mm's) Yellow Jacket build knocking on the door of 1k hp on a light tune.

      I'm not as familiar with Ford, but the latest generations of LS and Hemi are amazing. You can get big horsepower numbers with simple one-click order kits!
      Back in ye old days of yore, I remember working on budget performance engines with my dad. You had to plug some oil galleries, bore out others, and pull all kinds of tricks to get oil pressure to the right places. No one could really tell you 100% what needed to be done for a given block, so you had to take advice from this book, that magazine or old Gus who worked down at the machine shop. Forget about kits! You'd have to mix and match this part with that one, and see what could be machined to order.

Currently I own a 2018 Mustang GT putting out about 500 crank HP with some mods and couldn't be happier. I looked at Camaros, Corvettes, and Challengers but settled on the Mustang mainly because of its looks, performance, and the sound of that Gen 3 Coyote. This truly must be a trick question? We all know a certain liter of the SRT engines make good power stock. The problem comes in when you want to add more power. You can't just strap a turbo/SC on it like a LS or Coyote motor. You have to change the internals which is very very costly.
    Most gear head's know you can take a junk yard 5.3 or 4.8 LS and strap a turbo (your choice of forced induction) and make 1000hp without changing the internals. You can do something similar to the K24-A2 (can't forget my honda guys). You simply can't do that with a SRT, well maybe the Hell kitty motor, even that's a risk.
    When it comes to any major power with SRT motors if it isn't already boosted (SC) you aren't going to make a lot of HP stock. With the 6 liter motors you can change the upper and lower pulley to make more power, which is great. In comparison to the Coyote, you can simply change the blower to a V3 and make well over 1000hp without changing internals. Which is more cost affective than changing out the very costly internal upgrade to the SRT.

      5.7's and 6.1's responded very well to camshaft replacement. The Eagle variants even more so. Making over 500hp at the crank on a non-eagle Hemi isn't hard at all with the correct cam and tuning. So if you're looking for a boosted engine, the LS is the obvious choice on cost alone. If you're wanting to do an all-motor build, the Hemi is an excellent platform but also responds quite well to boost. The early 5.7 with an opened up ring gap can make 800+ on an otherwise stock engine with a turbo.

      @@joshreynolds729 Ive seen most 6.4 L dyno around 430whp and I’ve seen 10 speed 5.0s dyno at 430whp, but for most part 6.4 should have higher numbers. There’s a guy on UA-cam with a stock 392 with shorty headers and intake no tune. He dynoed 472whp on mustang so that’s like over 500whp on dynojet. Don’t ask me how lol. And it shows on the street when he races.

      @@boostidavis I’ve scene some cars that just put in work better than the rest on a dyno not all cars are created equal. Scene dynos vary quite a bit as well. In either case it’s a good time for a v8 powered muscle and the fact they are so much better than they used to be. See we could be arguing over a 5.7 hemi vs a 3v mustang 🤣 so life is good. Both amazing platforms.

      You do know the dynos show power and torque AFTER drivetrain loss, right? I really hope you do. You still have time to delete this.

    Something that Hot Rod Magazine stated when they first disassembled this motor and found these engines were built for racing. Excellent video

    Would like to see more about the NorthStar 32 valve V8. I know alot of people wouldn't care about it. I just want to know why GM went with this engine in some of its vehicles instead of the LS motor

      I think it was supposed to be more efficient but sadly it had issues with the heads lifting I believe

      The North Star was an overhead cam engine whereas the LS is a pushrod engine. The LS has great low end power, but the North Star can rev a lot higher and makes peak power in a much different area of the range. If you can fix the head gasket issue they're actually great engines.

      It was a semi popular and cheapish upgrade back in the mid 00`s for mustangs. We had one we were going to build up and put into my then new 02 gt, never did it though. But in stock form they were crappy for enthusiasts
