Today's video will be a reaction to Slaughter to Prevail performing their song Demolisher. I was utterly useless but perhaps there is some entertainment to be found in watching me try to understand just what on earth just happened to me. Can confirm it was worth it because there were lots of new sounds that I haven't heard before. If you have a weak heart, do not watch this.

No editing isn’t technically true. His voice is double and sometimes triple tracked to give it more depth on the record and they add reverb to it too otherwise, m8 it’s fucking insane.

When he screams "Demolisher" after he's finished summoning a demon from hell he actually does it without a mic live, at the smaller venues they usually play you hear his scream even without a mic
Actually, he just growls in russian. Really.
The fact he’s Russian plays a role, even if it’s a minor one, but yeah he’s really good at projection. Bought his 2016 vocal lessons back when I worked at McDonald’s making 7.25, and that was something he stressed was important, which is very true. Gotta have that power. Just seeing this brought that memory back, sorry for the spew of memories lmao

So, vocal layering is really common in this style of music (deathcore). What you were hearing is just multiple layered tracks. This man is one of the best in the industry. His name is Alex Terrible. He has his own UA-cam channel where you can see his raw vocals. He is an absolute beast. Another band to check out that has a similar sound but also displays clean vocals would be Whitechapel. Check out a song called “When a Demon Defiles a Witch” by them. Absolutely incredible. Thanks for the video, it’s nice to see people not shutting down immediately lol.

In a lot of this genre, the vocalist will layer his higher screams along with the lower growls in certain parts of the song. On the other hand, the low breakdown was all him, no effects lol
"no effects" is definitely wrong. At least some EQ, Compression, Saturation is in there. You mean "no pitch shifting" and that is true.

@@MrRaven420 nope, it's not exactly like in this song. Also, you'd be amazed how small he still would sound without any effects. In his phone videos he deliberately chose the rooms he recorded in, so he could add extra power and size. The effects add exactly that and additional wideness and clarity. It's not a sin to use effects, especially not when you only enhance the sounds you can achieve. I'm not so sure about using effects to achieve sounds. In this case, it definitely is the former.
@@buwumet if you watchive shows of this song, he sometimes doesn't use the mic while screaming "Dmeolosher" in the breakdown and you can still hear it perfectly. Dude has amazing projections

To clarify, yes that is actually his voice. In live shows he pulls away the microphone and quiets the crowd and he is actually louder and clearer than with the mic.. it’s insane. Alex is a monster in the best way possible
When he screams 'Demolosher' he does it without the mic live and it's loud enough that it doesn't get drowned out by everything else

I just watched 14 mins of Julia getting uncomfortable with demonic pig vaccuum 😅 For deathcore genre, the pig squeal is very common. In a lot of songs, the highs and lows are layered together. Check out Mark aka Kardavox Academy, he explained more in-depth on the vocal techniques for this particular genre.

I find it really funny how Alex has inadvertently become a study piece of vocals on the internet through one single track. He’s a killer vocalist but I never thought a deathcore vocalist would be so praised by traditional vocal coaches for what he’s doing. I’m a drummer by trade, so I’ve spent a lot of time focusing on that, I forgot for a bit how great Alex is on the vocals and brings so much flavor to the music.

So, the answer to her question "...are they trying to kill each other?" Is, yes. Yes they are lol.
That low low growl (from where hes speaking russian till where he says " DEMOLISHER") is 100% him. they layered a mid-scream on top of the demolisher part but that low is real, and he's done it live in concert, as well as in a video that he posted to youtube. He has one of the most DEMONIC voices in deathcore.

The vocalist actually had a lot of people accusing him of using pitch shifting/other techniques and that he couldn't actually get his voice that low. So, the vocalist recorded a video of him in the shower doing the vocals on instagram to prove he could actually do them. it's insane that his vocals can get that low but he's been working on it for probably a decade.
Being built like a tank probably helps too.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! TBH, I haven't seen your channel before, I came here through suggested vids on the Demolisher Music vid. You were right to be initially terrified, lol I got a good kick out of that. But then your face of amazement/perplexity/interest during the breakdown and the ridiculously speedy drum kit parts was so genuine too. I had a similar reaction first time watching this video. Overall though, STP is fucking amazing; Alex Terrible is a God among heavy metal men, (Ironic use of "God" among men intended). And you have proven that though this kind of music is VERY scary on the surface and people stray away, when you actually listen and pay attention, you are enlightened on the many levels of depth, talent, passion, intricacy that is required to produce awesome metal songs.
