When they play live, he silences the whole crowd, puts his microphone down and screams Demolisher at the top of his lungs. 100% real and just insane
Holy shit
Damn
He has a video of it on his Instagram. It is FUCKING insane. You can hear him so clearly... Dude has power.
It'd be great if it were actually only him doing it but there are always a handful of assholes in the crowd that ruin it and scream along anyway. Spoils the moment.
saw them at this is exile anniversary tour and they were fucking insane
Anyone else just waiting for the breakdown, just smiling.
I L'd OL
I've literally been searching for all the reaction videos I can for this song, just to see the reaction at the breakdown!!!!
Nope. We all toooootally weren't 🤣
Damn right i am lol
Not anyone.
Everyone.
Sees first wall of death
"must be a Russian thing" lol love it
Someone got it!
Was waiting for this comment lol
I’m late, just commented the same thing 😂
Hahhaa
I love you ❤️❤️
The audience was doing what is known as a "Wall of Death" where two halves of the pit run at each other and it turns into a circle pit. Its insanely fun lol
I’ve died 19 times in walls of death
And if you wanna go more batshit crazy, find an insane group of people, convince them to stand in the middle with you and then try to reach the stage at full sprint as the 2 walls close in. Now that's a moshpit 😅🤘
@@smokey4621 I now know how I wanna go out.
I was in one and my big guy buddies threw my scrawny ass literally at the other wall. So fun. I broke like 3 noses.
NIET! They just are Russians ^^
"at some points he even goes lower than youd expect"
Everybody who knows whats coming: "not yet"
Ahahsha i was waiting
LMAOOOOO truuu
Lmao that's exactly what I thought..he kept pointing out the lows in the first min or 2 and I'm just like you dont even know bro...
The “I can go lower” meme comes to mind.
I giggle like a school girl when they're faces show how shocked they are Alex's lows
Why is non metal people watching metal so entertaining? Dont know, but damn its a pretty good watch lol
Sometimes I forget that there are people who haven't really been exposed to the culture at all. Seeing their reactions to things like walls of death and mosh pits in general is fun, as well as just how intense the songs seem to feel.
Because people finally are realizing it's deserving of respect and these musicians are very talented.
@@Eyrie007 anyone who knows or has known a metal head knows that. Or at least they fucking know to say that to appease the rage that would be otherwise unleashed...
I particularly enjoy hip hop channels reactions to it. Look up hip hop infant annhilator drum
I cackled when he saw the mosh pit and was like "what are they doing ? Are they all rushing each other?" 🤣
*”He’s basically a cement truck.”*
When he said this I laughed so hard I cried!
The wall of death only happens in the most brutal pits. These guys must have insane live sound.
They're absolutely amazing live. All of its constantly heavy and fast paced. Run out of breath if you're in the pits
I mean, I was in a wall of death at a Polyphia concert
I've heard a lot of adjectives for Alex; Cement Truck is a new one.
Cement truck is a noun
@@timd2789 No, it's a vehicle
@@onearthonelegion No, it's the main singer for Slaughter to Prevail
@@onearthonelegion vehicles are nouns you idiot
That part got me good 🤣🤣
Alex demonstrates his growls on his UA-cam and Instagram channels. He has been called 'fake' many times, but he has dispelled those comments many times over :)
The growl is real, what he does is multilayer some bits and parts.
I've seen them a few times (they toured with my husband's band). It's real.
Ive toured with Slaughter to Prevail on the summer slaughter tour it is very much real.
I remember fallowing his YT channel waaaay back in like 2008 because I was so blown away. He’s been practicing way more than 12 years. Closer to 20 I would think
@@KINGKAI41 they add a fair bit of saturation to get all of the harmonics but it's all him. Live, he is incredible. He does the 'demolisher' with no mic and his voice carries.
2:52 Ken : "I don't know it sounds like Godzilla or something"
- Gojira has entered the chat -
A man with taste. Fuck yeee
@@tieracushman7050 🤘🤘🤘
I find this extra funny because Godzilla is actually named Gojira in Japan, so "Gojira has entered the chat" can mean whatever you like.
@@paulsvensson6948 Sir you are a man of culture hell yeah \m/
Thinking Jinjer but Gojira works
Yes alex said it himself, it took him 12 years to achieve the vocals he has right now.
"he's basically a cement truck" xD
Literally what I was about to comment 😂😂
"This microphone is simply a prop. I actually don't need it."
Hahaha. As I understand it, he pulls the microphone away like that to prove he's doing the vocals on his own. No enhancement from the mic or anything hidden in the mask.
He did it many times last time I saw them. He projects so incredibly well that he can get solid volume even over the crowd noise.
A friend of mine did his first live session with his new band completely without a mic just to prove he had the voice
He does it live 100% especially in smaller venues. When I saw them he did it without the mic and he was still so loud
@@BO55N355 bruh that's insane!
This is also probably an explicit request from his sound guy, so they aren't buying speakers/subs at every venue, lmao
The World: "Hey, lets do some Heavy Metal"
Russia: "Hold my Vodka"
Best comment ever.. 🤘👹🤘
😂
hey, we don't need to give Vodka to someone to make METALL)
Drink my vodka!
WODKA
It's real, he does the "DEMOLISHER!" part live with no mic
5:11 thats called a Wall of Death
If you search Wall of Death you'll find some pretty epic ones.
P.S. We gotta get him to do Shadow of Intent - The Heretic Prevails.
Like exodus strike of the beast 😂
@@dapaintbrush6965 or like dagoba
One of the best moments of my life was being part of a Wall of Death when M. Shadows stopped a song to make it happen. I'll never forget that.
I'd love to see some day a wall of love. Where people just hug each other or group hugs.
I always make this comment lol
And also alot of motorbikes riding wooden circular walls
First minute "wow he went lower than expected"
Yeah.. Get ready to die about halfway through 😂
He's dead
The bit without the mic was definitely real. Obviously it was mixed for the video so that it would be even sound, but he actually does that at shows, has the audience quiet down and then belts out “DEMOLISHER” in that absolutely GNARLY growl and it fills the auditorium. Dude is one of the most well-endowed vocalists in the genre rn in terms of lung capacity and air support. He’s unreal
I feel like people don't talk about how fast the drummers feet are
He doesn't have feet. His lower half is a double peds with two kicks.
Nobody mentions that about infant annihilators drummer either and he’s at least top 5 fastest drummers in metal. Hands down
@@jacobroberts1513 lmao you mean programmed drums?
@@Kain_R_Heinlein frustrated
@@zsigmondtimii No actually infant anihilator is really programmed drums, it's kinda their thing, to be decomplexed about that. Of course they find some insane drummers to play some of their songs but not everything
When you said "it took him a dozen years to do that". You were right. He's stated himself to get where he's at he's worked for at LEAST 12 years on his craft. And yes, it's 100% him, and 100% real. No modulation needed. As many others have stated, he demonstrates it in random videos he posts on Instagram and UA-cam. He'll just bust them out randomly doing everyday things. He's crazy nuts and crazy low with those growls.
He does most of it himself yes but some notes are given texture, for context he is getting that low but the extra gravel and length to his voice is added anyways he is doing it himself.
@@corncob2784 indeed. Thank you for the backup information! :)
"maamaa. Maaaamaa. MAAAMAAAA!" 🤣
TheFallenSHDW yo I legit came to comment this and you beat me to it!
I found him YEARS ago doing Suicide Silence covers back in like 2010. It’s been at least 12 years or more
If I'm not mistaken, it's studio audio on top of a live video. So that's why you hear him clearly even when it shows him not using the mic. During the live show, he hushes everyone in the crowd so he can growl without out the mic and be heard.
Also please check out Unleash The Archers and their song Awakening. Lead singer Brittney Slayes is a belting goddess 🤘🇨🇦
There is a live video where he doesnt use mic at the the DEMOLISHER part. Filmed near the back of the crowd
Seconded on Awakening. Brittney Slayes is a monster.
@@Hydrohaxs read it wrong, that's why i deleted my reply.. do you have a link by any chance? Appreciate it
@@Z_TPI ua-cam.com/video/HFh0TT_g8c8/v-deo.html
Need to add that on the word 'Demolisher' there's also at least two simultaneous vocal tracks, a high and a low one, like in much of the parts of the song.
"What is happening in the audience?
Are they rushing each other?"
Lmao, so cute
Homie never got bruised in the moshpit
Slaughter to prevail is not how you introduce new people to metal lmao
True. Because everything else is weak in comparison😂🤣😂
@@sirenpheonix626 not exactly but they are one of the best in the world i will give them that
WRONG 😆😂🤣
Its like going on hotones and eating da wings right too left
I mean, I feel his reaction to whitechapel would be the same tbh
5:11 The phenomenon you have just witnessed is colloquially referred to as a 'mosh pit'.
7:15 Yes, he literally does that live with the mic at his hip with remarkablly little change in quality. There are a few videos of him doing it at live shows floating around the internet.
Alex is an absolute beast.
It's a wall of death..not a mosh pit
I just love how open minded and awarding this dude is towards this „special“ genre and mostly the band.
I mean lots of people dont like it and wont appreciate the art behind it. Good content, keep it up!
I agree, i listen to metal, just dont tend to like this level of growling.
But God damn. the way it's done, in this song, makes it so good.
Appreciate that he recognizes and appreciates how broad the drummer’s range is and doesn’t only hear the vocals.
When this guy first witnessed the wall of death was probably the most authentic thing a non metal head can notice.
The fact that you said "a dozen years of practice" and I'm pretty sure that is currently the amount of years Alex says hes been practicing makes me respect your takes on music more.
The mask doesn't add to his voice, he just naturally sounds that monstrous. I've seen them live and he sounds the same with or without the mask. He's just one of the best metal vocalists around.
His face when the low low vocals came, is so priceless
I fuckin love this guy's responses. I'm dying to hear him swear.
If you want to hear how he gets his sound, search "Alex Terrible Of slaughter to prevail vocal demonstration" on UA-cam. You'll hear a raw recording of his voice. And also see a cute cat
That cat is fearless
"He's basically a cement truck" Killed me lol
I love your seriousness and dedication to keeping your words clean. The stuff you say is priceless. 😂😆😂😆😂
Late to the party, but there’s a live video of this concert and yes, he actually takes the mic away from his move and screams “DEMOLISHER” which can be heard clear as day from the back of the room. Extremely impressive
We gotta get him to do Shadow of Intent - The Heretic Prevails.
Or Catacombs 🤔🤔
No kidding. If he wants to hear vocal variety in a metal vocalist, Ben's up there with the best.
@@RustyGonzo His gutturals are insane. So low I call'em butturals.
He's like Satan's shower drain.
Ben Duer, Dickie Allen, Philly bo
forsaken effigy
What absolutely slays me, is the clarity of his voice during the guttural Russian part, my buddy is Russian, and he said you can make out what he is saying perfectly. This led to a long discussion on the merits of Russian being the perfect Deathcore language.
I can't be the only one just thinking to myself "Oh... Just you wait... Just you wait"
Ive watched so many reaction videos of this song and I just love how non metal vocalists are so damn respectfull of metal vocalists its so awesome
"Hes basically a cement truck" best description ive heard of him 😂
"That's the voice of a hellhund demon!"
Most accurate description of alex's growls I've ever heard!
it's nice to see more classicaly trained people actually appreciate what these guys can do
In the live version he moves the mic and you can hear him clearly. It blew my mind.
yeah during live performances of this band he screams that super low "Demolisher" without the mic. He shushes everybody so its more audible, but it is audible. The live performance of Holy Roller by Spiritbox does a similar thing (a band i highly recommend). The vocalist Courtney for that band is absolutely amazing, I recommend the songs Blessed be, Holy Roller, and Rule of Nines by them.
Courtney was in iwrestledabearonce and I had seen them live a few years ago, it was on a city street they closed for a concert. She got the best wall of death I’ve seen going and some dude standing in the street got wrecked. Dude thought it was funny till she yelled out “smear the queer” and the walls closed. It was like half a block wide.
7:30 yes, he does it every time and you can hear him over the crowd even without the mic
I love your respect for the music and their talent it takes to achieve what they do so I totally had to subscribe to you.
Answering the mask question: Black metal bands have traditionally used "corpse-paint" to enhance the evil aesthetic of these kinds of groups. I would consider these masks to be a variation of that tradition.
Not really though. I can't think of too many metal bands period that where masks outside of like slipknot, mushroom head and a handful others.
I personally think the corpse paint looks more interesting but this is different I guess. The addidas bottoms is definitely not BM 😆
Seems gimmicky and not kvlt
@@missimccarthy8408 but it is 100% Russian. Lol
Search for "vocal demonstration Alex terrible" his voice is just insane
I'm not a death metal fan really, but I'm a metal head non the less.... but damn. That's crazy. And kudos to you for such an open mind on EVERYTHING you react to. And the comical non expletive, expletives 😆😆 I enjoy those from you just as much lol.
Alex: summoning a demon from the bowels of hell
Ken: Wubalubadingdong!!
This is perhaps my favorite Reaction to this song. The look of innocent genuine wonderment and fascination on his face was priceless.
Wall of death 🤘🤘🤘 classic mosh pit
Opeth - Ghost of Perdition [Live at The Roundhouse Tapes DVD] HD
I have both concerts on disc, but I think the Red Rocks quality is hard to pass up. That and Joakim's backing vocals are freaking amazing. He goes so well with Mikael.
@@demoncleaner80 yeah but Mikael's O.G. growls are missing so Roundhouse Tapes would be better to react to
"He's like a.....he's basically a cement truck." LMAO!
If you watch the recording of the concert when he raises his finger to his lips, the whole crowd fell basically silent. When he took the finger away him and the whole crowd sung "Dom ol ish er" at once.
Can confirm that all of this is real, even the part where he screams Demolisher. I saw them live last year, and they played this song before it was released, and he did both the super low part, and then the DE-MO-LISH-ER scream without the mic. Also, the whole show was amazing, I cannot recommend seeing them enough. Honestly nobody can be prepared for the sonic brutality you hear at their shows 🤘🤘🔨🔨
Yes! that microfone thing is real, you can find the show of this clip and he actually sings "DEMOLISHEEE" without the mic, and we can hear his voice over the audience, it is crazy
I laugh everytime someone is like "what is the crowd doing?!" That is called a Wall of Death, my good sir. A prelude to a mosh pit.
I can scream lol I love watching people who aren’t too familiar with the genre react to it. It’s amazing to me. Nice reaction.
Also check out White Chapel's Phil Bozeman performance at the Mitch lucker memorial show
Earthside a dream in static, vocal masterpiece, crazy high notes.
F5 sharp in the chorus.
My buddies and I met up with him at the mall in the city they were playing that night, insanely chill man. As for his vocals. He warms up side stage and it’s all you can hear throughout the whole place, above the random music they play between sets.
When they rush into each other, it’s called wall of death where you split the crowd up in two and then they run towards each other at the breakdown. It’s a kind of moshing. Very common at death metal and other more extreme metal concerts.
So glad you did this!
Yes Alex will do vocals without a mic at moments, ive seen it live 🤘there is vocal layering in this mix BUT he performs just as good live, trust me!

Nice choice... You should consider reacting to Mike Patton. I don't even know what band / collaboration / project is the best. He is versatile and works on so many projects, have created so many bands...
I would say some Tomahawk or Mr. Bungle stuff. Or maybe his EP with the Dillinger Escape Plan for a pure metal act... anyway, I guess Mike Patton would be a pretty interesting case for you!
Great suggestion
Him in FNM doing Burt Bacharach - ua-cam.com/video/S-dxuwv4vs4/v-deo.html or the newer ua-cam.com/video/JNqmMaJ6N_4/v-deo.html
I really do like the General Patton & the Executioners
I'd say Fantômas but anything Mike Patton is amazing..
I concur!!!! Mike Patton has so much God darn range, can do whatever he wants with his voice!!!! Love this suggestion!!
There's actually a video from the crowd of him doing this song live. That's why he shushed the audience. His projection is incredible
I've practiced this type of vocal technique as well as Tuvan/Mongolian throat singing and you are right that they both come from a similar place. I discovered the Tuvan stuff while practicing these types of screams (I call them the bear call 😆) Not sure about the technical stuff behind it but there is a way of manipulating the vocal chords to create a sort of "resonance chamber," like with subharmonics, that is how you get that sound. If you push it through your normal vocal chords you damage your voice so you have to properly shape them to get that sound with the least effort possible.
Obviously, the "Demolisher" part is layered but he does all of those layers himself. There are videos on his Instagram where he's doing it in his bathroom :D
Yes let's go he finally did it
5:22 that's a wall of death. The put separates to two sides and they run at each other.
The crowd rushing eachother is called The Wall of Death. It's popular for crowds at metal shows all over the world.
his lows are indeed real. it is a studio track over the live video though so that's why that specific part where he holds the mid behind his back is so loud. alex has been doing vocals for 12 years and in concerts he does the behind the back mic for that part and you can still hear him clearly in the back. you can check his instagram videos of him doing that on his phone mic, in his car, in his room, really anywhere. he's just an all around talented guy. also on his youtube he does covers of all sorts of songs with his unique spin ofc.
I love how viewers of all the vocal coach reaction channels are metalheads 🤘

They seem to be 50-50. Half metal half pop. The pop fans hate us I’m sure😈🤘

@@QueenBee-py3ks eh man I'll take it all! Metal is about freedom, and that should extend to all genre
There is a video that shows him doing the demolisher bit without a microphone. It's incredible
Literally spot on with how long you though hes been practicing to reach where he is it took alex 12 years of vocal practice and hes absolutely a MONSTER
Great reaction!
Alex Terrible - Disasterpiece will give you a lot to talk about.
That's hilarious, you said he's been practicing for a dozen years and...yeah he himself said he's been singing for about 12 years like this, I can't believe how you got it spot on lol. You should check out Kardavox Academy's channel cause he's a vocal coach as well but he focuses on growling and there is definitely vocal technique to growling and using your vocal chords in that manner without damaging them.
Kardavox Academy is my go-to for metal reactions. I love the breakdowns and explanations of everything. Dude knows his shit.
Honestly you have the best analogy I've ever heard. He said this guy is a cement truck. He built different
At cellphoned filmed live vids of this show you can hear when he takes away the microphone during the breakdown you can still hear his brutal screaming loud when he screams at the crowd
"ACKSHUALLY. IT'S DEATHCORE, MMKAY?" - That Guy
yeah the "is that real" moment, it's just the studio audio over video of a performance. I've actually been at a show where a video like this was filmed(not this show, and not this band obvs). The band i was seeing did like three takes of the same song to make sure they got all the footage they needed, but they didn't use any audio of the performance, just like audio from the crowd for the beginning of the video.
5:25 it's called a wall of death. Split the room in two sides and then when the vocalist says go, they run full speed at each other
There’s also a variety of techniques for different types of screams from basic exhale and inhale
Tunnel screams
False cord screams
Gutturals
Etc
I’ve been doing these vocals for about half a decade now
Impressive indeed, for a change of pace I'd love to see you react to Leprous, just about anything they've done but preferably from their live performance at Rockefeller. :)
Keep up the great work with the videos!
Hi Ken! I've been waiting for a vocal coach to check out Jinjer's "Judgement and Punishment" one take vocal performance by Tatiana. I'd love to see your reaction to it! It's just her and a mic (and a cat...).
there are thousands of that... gets boring with the time...
@@seelenwinter6662 There are lots of Jinjer reactions, yes, but not a lot of them are by vocal coaches like Ken and most Jinjer videos don't have such a direct focus on Tatiana. For a vocal coach, it's the perfect Jinjer video.
@@seelenwinter6662 no there are not thousands of this reaction yes jinjer is a heavily reacted to band and that's for good reason Tatiana is a beast of a singer and this new studio recording just proves it even more
That is what is called "The wall of death". Also Alex has posted his journey of perfecting his natural talent, shit is just insane to watch his progression.
Watch it live ken! Watch it live!!
"This mic is a prop, I actually don't need it"
yes that is literally the case lmao
OMG, you really don't know how much I was expecting this... INSTA LIKE
Alex talks about the concept of a double harmonic. He has a video where he performs it in his bathroom. It's a layering technique. You can layer a clean sound on top of fry or growl or, in the case of throat singing, on top of vibration. Alex has taken it to another level that he can layer the clean sound under the growl which gives it that double harmonic.
I want to see them live soooooo badly
Having being a proud owner of one of those masks, I'll say that it's mostly for looks on performance, it doesn't really change your sound that much it just gets a bit annoying sometimes, Alex(vocalist) takes it off, I do this too, cause it's easier to perform without it on, it's made of some hard plastic and not super comfortable to wear
You’re listening to the studio recording played over videos from concerts. But yes, he does just scream into the crowd without a microphone at that part after the crazy low breakdown.
everybody knows, that the moshpit is a thing at metal concerts.
a "wall of death" is basicly just the hyped up version of that... slightly more dangerous, thus more rare.
Shadow of intent-Heretic Prevails is an amazing song their lead singer Ben Deurr is a beast I think it would be a good song to lead off of this one
Thanks for the comment! I’ll look for that next Monday.
I would love to see you react to Archspire- Involuntary Doppelganger official lyric video. That would be amazing.
at 2:00 into the song the crowd was doing a death wall basically the crowd makes a wall of people on both sides of the pit, runs at each other and slams into each other
Live videos will prove the power in his voice. It’s insane
