@@GerardKennedy-ls1qpRIP. Charles Levin. What a tragic end of his life. He was found hiking in the Pacific Northwest. It looks like his body was eaten by animals
How is this guy not the world's most famous actor? I mean this scene is iconic. It is right up there with Lucy.and Ethel in the chocolate factory.. Perfection.
“Embedded in the carpet fibers. Deep, deep in the shag, broken glass, bits of broken glass, you can never get out!” This is classic comedy! That second “deep” seals it for me!
R.I.P. Charles Levin, he was magically hilarious in this episode and he nailed every screen minute he was in. I can't help but think of the tragic ending this actor had and we'll never know exactly how 😨
definitely hilarious, classic larry david. Soup Nazi would have to be considered too, and the old man, and the record store owner with Kramer and newman.
This guy was amazing.... like he had been playing that role for years. Him and Jerry taunting each other at the hospital... "Thank God the flincher didn't hurt the baby!" 🤣🤣🤣
@goodfella21f I think he turned down a road that was closed/flooded out and got stuck. No cell reception and in a remote area where nobody could find him. His dog was with him as well. Sad story.
@David H. that’s the whole point. If you’ve ever met someone with the thoughts this character has they usually act this way too. What’s so funny about Seinfeld is the personalities and scenarios are things we’ve all seen in real life
You don't know how they keep a straight face ? The same way you do. Simple. Obviously, we don't know how many takes it took to get it right (without them laughing or not getting their lines right). That's a different thing altogether
The thing with Seinfeld is that it always had so many excellent and likable characters in addition to the main cast. As for non-recurring characters the Mohel is by far the most memorable one for me, and the twitches is just pure gold. The first time I watched this I laughed so hard that I was in the brink of passing out as I could nearly not inhale air, just exhale! Oh how I wish I could relive that moment.
"I coulda been a kosher butcher like my brother. The money's good. There's a union, with benefits. And, cows have no families. You make a mistake with a cow, you move on with your life... "

We are advanced and don’t want disease and rashes not to mention we don’t want the burden of having to clean out disgusting shmegma all day long, oh and girls don’t want to smell or taste that. This scene just never gets old for me. Impeccable comedic timing and delivery. This is the only thing I've seen this actor in, but it was still sad when I found out out he died. RIP sir.
I remember it like it was yesterday, the first time I saw this on TV, I think it was 1994, I laughed so hard I could not breathe. I could literally understand how someone could die from laughing. Break the glass and you'll never get it out and years later stepping on the glass, everything is a danger to this guy LOL
Very sad the way Charles Levin died. Wonderful actor in this bit role. One of my favorites. It appears he got lost on a long drive in Oregon and panicked and went down a deserted jeep trail and got stuck. Most likely died of hypothermia.
Whenever I shatter a glass on my floor this scene almost always comes to mind, and as a result, I vacuum extra hard. That's how funny, crazy and relatable the writing is.
Listen, you bitter ass bitch, I'm clearly referring to the MOIL's psychotic antics! The way he acts, is what is highly comical to me. He's funny as hell. Now, go back to your corner, and stop ASSuming shit that you clearly know NOTHING about.
It's strange but the first time I saw this episode I wondered who played the Rabbi. I looked him up and found that he was character actor of some repute and considered very capable. Then today I read he was found dead in Oregon. What a sad and strange thing to have happened to him. RIP Charles Levin, you made us laugh and that is never a bad thing.
Just FYI...A mohel is not necessarily a rabbi. The mohel is specially trained in circumcision and the rituals surrounding the procedure. Many mohalim are doctors or rabbis (and some are both)
@@beholden1663 Yes, he played a guy dying of AIDS who Officer Belker tries to help. An incredibly touching performance by a truly gifted actor. But this Seinfeld performance is one for the ages and will gift us with laughter forever and I've shared with many.
Whoever this actor or comedian is that played the mohel in this scene is a master entertainer. Hilariously delivered lines I quote to this day. THIS IS A BRIS!
How anyone on the set kept a straight face during this scene I'll never understand. I'd love to see the outtakes. By far my favorite walk-on character on the series. RIP Charles.
Absolutely without question my favorite Seinfeld episode. Have seen this countless time in reruns and I still crack up every time. You could actually watch this with the sound off and it would still be hilarious. Just the facial expressions alone on this guy are pure gold. Very sorry to hear of the recent untimely death of the actor, Charles Levin.
John Mac // Agreed. Just watched it again in re-runs and I couldn't stop laughing during the bris scene at the apartment. The actor who played the part of "Shaky the Mohel" absolutely nailed it!
Keep your eyes on Kramer throughout this scene. He's in the background, but you can see him get progressively more nervous. He even tries to talk the father out of it in the background while the mohel is talking about getting mugged on the subway. It all builds up to where he grabs the baby and tries to escape.
1:42 My favorite line. He comes up with this future scenario that takes place precisely two years from the exact moment the glass will break on the carpet which will result in instant death...out of thin air.
Kramer typically gets along with just about every character on the show but the look on his face at 1:53 had me rolling lol even Kramer isn't too sure about the mohel
Say what you want, the Mohels admonishing of the glass placement is solid advice. I havent dropped my expensive phone to the ground in over 4 years just by following his advice 😅
I heard he had passed away near my home town yesterday and was sorry to hear. I read he had a dog named boo boo bear.. A pug. I thought to myself what kind of adult male would name a pug that. Must be someone like me, i have a frenchy named buddy and i call him boo boo all the time. I thought he must be a pisces like me... I looked up his birthday for fun and wouldnt you know march 12 is my birthday too. RIP
IMO by far the best secondary character in the Seinfeld series (and there were many). Whenever I am in need of a few laughs I always come here and it always does the job. It is a "timeless-classic". The scene displays a great mix of the anxieties of the different characters, some slap-stick, and some social commentary on the meaning of rites ( "covenant between God and Abraham... or something"); career-choice regrets ("I could've been a Kosher butcher") and capitalism & salesmanship ("here's my card"). Well done!

I think this guy was the most insane in the entire series. He makes George seem almost normal.
Yes, He and the book detective are my faves 😂😂😂
Could you imagine him playing George
Little bit like Newman :-)
He had a point about the glass on the edge though. That’s never made sense to me

Three minutes and fifty-two seconds of comedy gold. "Cows don't have families. You make a mistake with a cow you move on with your life."

I love when Kramer grabs the baby and runs. Strong paternal instinct - that's a side of his character we've never seen.
Jokanaan Great comment! For some reason his facial expression when he is trying to protect the baby reminds me of my father.
