@@withinyouwithutyu1324 I heard or read that that was what the scene was supposed to be, but Jim Carrey was like, "Nope, that wouldn't be these characters."
i saw it as a kid at the cinema, then bought the tape (from my lunch money which i saved for couple of days) while it was on sale at blockbuster video store for 9$..
me and my best friend watched it every day after school at least 2 times in a row while my parents were at work..good old vhs..while tape was rewinding we had enough time to take a piss and a new pepsi..
i dont know how often i saw it back in the days..possible 200+ times..and i laughed everytime at the same scenes..watched it last week again after about 15+ yrs and still laughing at the same scenes..

One of the first movies I was allowed to see as a kid without parents with just my friends.
My friend Lee laughed so hard during the fantasy restaurant fight scene that he fell forward out of his seat and because he had the end of aisle chair he fell down about 4 or 5 steps into the aisle opposite a few rows down, all whilst still laughing and rather embarrassingly snot all down his nose.
Ah to be young in the 90's again
I use D&Dumber as a litmus test to see if I should keep dating someone. They don't like it, out the door! haha

Daniels was just as critical to this movie as Carrey. I couldn't imagine anyone else.
@Torres9 Nothing agreed. Farrell doesn't have the goofy face or the excitement to pull off what Carey did. Jeff Daniels is a master at his craft. He did it so we'll just looking dopey, and having a slightly slow dopey voice. Forget this movie without either of these two in it.
Hey guys, Big Gulps huh?..........Welp, see ya later.
D. J. ... I remember going into the theatre and thinking no way Jeff daniel's comedy, but he was the main reason I wanted to see the movie. I think he outperformed Carrey, took the movie from him. The gas station where his pants are on fire is the funniest scene, ever put on film in my opinion.

My number one favorite comedy. It never gets old.
Every line in this movie is a top notch one-liner
I love the subtle humor too.
''I'm talking about a little place called Aspen''
''I don't know Lloyd, the french are assholes''

This comment made me realise the cop in this movie is the hitch hiker in something about Mary.
@Jan Miller BIIIRD.... YAAAAA
@Jan Miller yo jay i was crying when he said that!
I remember my homeroom teacher told us in the class that this was her favourite movie. That was 20 years ago.
No other comedy movie compares to this, the script is funny yes, but this is much more than that.
The way it never gets old, makes me feel that Dumb and Dumber is alive.
It's 2022 now, and trust me most people don't have a clue what kind of a classic this will be in the future.
If Lloyd married mary, her name would be Mary Christmas

The deck the brief case Samsonite joke still gets me every time. I went into Macys and saw a big Samsonite sign and just started bursting out in laughter in the store.
Every time I touch a luggage case or briefcase I say it. Samsonite. I was way off
I love that Jim Carey calls the main bad guy with the gun Mr Samsonite. Funny call back that is a minor detail i missed on first viewing!

This movie helped me get through high school, and the chaos of life. I have never laughed so hard. Absolutely ridiculous and brilliant. Jeff and Jim were perfect for this movie. Comedy gold 😂
I never would have thought of Jeff Daniels for this, but yes, the two of them together made it.
