Nice recommendations. I think it will be nice if you create a video just about gamma strings and rate them in various categories SPIN, CONTROL, COMFORT, DURABILITY, POWER relative to one another and show case them as a table on a whiteboard?
My best string setup is Luxilon 4G 125 Poly on mains (55 lbs) and Babolat natural gut on crosses (52 lbs); you get pretty much of everything; meanwhile you don't lose playability
Gotta try those polygon synthetic next time restring. Which one would you recommend to hybrid with a Solinco Confidential? I play for 2 hours every day, and restring every month, the Solinco Confidential is the best poly in tension management IMO.
In my ProKennex Ki Q+ Tour Pro 315, I use Alpha Gut 2000 16g (1.33mm) multifilament in the mains at 52 lbs, and Volkl Cyclone Tour 18g (1.20mm) in the crosses at 50 lbs, or YTEX ProTour Blue 17g (1.20mm) in the crosses at 50 lbs. The Volkl Cyclone Tour plays slightly softer than the YTEX ProTour Blue. I string my own racquets for consistency and convenience. I was suffering from major tendinitis from 24 years of military service but recently picked up tennis 🎾 and got tired of playing in pain. This formula I provided is a winning combination for people who suffer from tennis elbow.
Harry, This is Austin tennis spin putting our spin on Harry's Tennis... TODAY !! (just kidding around) so my friend tried the setup you recommended of Solinco Confidential Mains and Gamma TNT2 on Crosses . Also tried the set up with the 4lbs lower on the crosses it is on a Prince 100X 305G that i just got. Result- pretty nice feel, I like a soft pocketing plush feel for sure. I will say that perhaps on my next re-string I may go up on the Cross to 46, currently am at Mains 48- Cross 44 lbs. It gives me a bit less predictability being lower 4lbs on the cross- easier to hit the ball long. So, have to be better technically with ground strokes, on the serve I like it alot. Can you comment on one of your Spin episodes about using various rackets- I am definitely a Variety guy, why? I find that having the following: Clash, Babolat Pure Strike 3rd Gen, Dunlop CX200 last yrs model, 2 Vokls and a Yonex gives me different options to use. Most player of course it seems they stay with one brand, tennis is pretty subjective and I must say I prefer a bunch of options in my bag. Also, another episode could be when you make a Rafa clone or a Roger Clone racket go out with the guys and hit and see what you all think? I think you did that already on the Banana? Keep up the good work, being in San Fran retail I bet you have to do a ton of business to pay that rent!
I know you love Gamma synthetics and multis, but you gotta give some love to Head Syn Gut PPS (I like 17g), Babolat Syn Gut (16g), and Tourna Syn Gut Armor (17g). I'm a Gamma fan, too. Moto is my fav poly. Moto's specs and feel are close to Hyper-G for less money and yes I cross it with Gamma TNT, so I get it. Also, Head's Velocity MLT gives Gamma Professional a run for it's money for half the price. Thanks for all you do. Can you please do a video on mixing the tensions of mains and crosses and how that affects spin/control/feel?
Hi Harry, thank a lot for precious suggestions!!!You do a great work there!!! I have Radical pro. String set with, in the main luxilon alu power rough and, in the cross X-One. 25 kg is the tension. Would you suggest that I should try your last two options that you present in your video? Or, would you say that it wouldn’t make a good difference at all?
Wilson Revolve has almost no friction on the strings, I string rackets myself, on the 10th cross string it starts to feel a bit of resistance from weaving, definately easy from weaving side. Sadly i didn´t like the string, I played it fullbed.
Thank you for sharing! Curious 🤔though.....will all your shaped main string mentions be getting stuck on those cross string picks? Isn't spin also about the mains snapping back into place? Seems everytime that I pair a shaped string with a soft cross, the mains don't slide freely and need to constantly be adjusted. Is this acceptable? Or maybe only certain soft strings have the ideal coating to endure the crossing of a sharp shaped poly?
I'm 55 years old playing everyday. Kindly suggest an arm friendly hybrid set-up for babolat pure drive (stiff frame) 16 x 19 and for head Microgel Radical midplus (flexible frame) 18 x 20. It'd be highly appreciated if you can suggest a few alternatives too. What would be the most durable or economical of the options ?
Hey all I used for the last 5 years is the hyper G 16g because I break alot of strings every 3 weeks don't know if that's alot to you but it is me. I string it at 55 I tried mixing it but the mains were moving too much the guy said because the crosses are poly. I used string savers to get more play out of them.
I'm loving Confidential full bed, I just had a couple sticks built with hyper g soft 18 and live wire 17. I've got a couple demo packs of Ocho to try as well.
Babolat is great but it literally works for 1 hour then it stops byte the ball. Great for tournament but other days hyperg is better for me. Works not less than a week.
I aggree, the tension loss with rpm blast is also just insanely high, this string is for people who own a machine and/or are very ambitioned and somehow feel that they need that extra ~3% spin (no idea what the real numbers are, maybe someone can help me out?).
Thanks for the video. I recently played Gamma Professional Spin 16g and liked it alot. I have been searching for it but can only find Gamma Professional. Can you shed light on wether it has been discontinued? Thank you and keep producing interesting videos!
I have a Wilson ProStaff 97L strung with Völkl v-square 18 at 55lbs for mains and Wilson Synthetic Gut 17 at 52lbs for crosses. I also have Wilson Clash 100 strung with Völkl v-square 18 at 50lbs for mains and Wilson Synthetic Gut 17 at 47lbs from crosses. I get amazing spin for both racquets. I have a full western grip so I can generate alot of spin when I hit the ball and with these string setup, the spin is multiplied. Since the 97L is a stiff racquet, I strung it at a higher tension than the soft Clash. In the Clash I need the strings to generate more power since the racquet is soft so it won't generate it. In my next restringing, I will try not to go above 50lbs and experience the effect.
I forgot to add that I made some slight weight modification on both racquets so they both weigh the same (strings + dampner + overgrip) and share the same weight distribution. Both balanced at 5.5HL with 164 grams at grip and 148 grams at head so both racquets weigh at 312g.
Hey!! Love your videos man! If I have a HyperG 16g along with X-One Biphase 17g.. what do you recommend for mains/crosses along with what tensions.. please explain its various combinations of it. Thanks 👍🏼

Multifilament in the main gives you more power and is arm friendly, poly in the main gives you more controle and spin but is more painfull if you have elbow issue
I use RPM blast on the crosses and hit on the main. It comes pre-packaged by Babolat and was recommend led to me from Babolat strong guy at Indian Wells. He really stressed keeping the gut on the mains for maximum power and feel. It is expensive and does take a little getting used to but worth it.
More spin if polys in the main compared to syn in the mains. Usually the characteristics of the main string are more dominant than the characteristics of the cross strings.
@@VanCough yep. For a long time I used kirschbaum pro line II in the mains and a syn gut in the crosses. Now I found a guy who sells real gut cheap so I put that in the mains and the pro line II or confidential in the crosses.
@@VanCough it's the other way around, you get spin from snapback so you need the slicker string to be in the crosses. Don't talk about what you don't know/understand.
@Bokai Chao you get spin when the mains snapback so you need a slick cross that enables movement. syngut is not slick so it's difficult for the main to slide against a syngut cross. you'll be better off if you string syngut mains and a round poly cross. this is the exact opposite of what @abhinand1000 is saying and you can easily see by his stupid comment talking about characteristics of strings that he doesn't know what he's talking about - the setup he suggests will lock the stringbed and the strings will not move. On the contrary @BIGLOVE4TRUTH mentions gut mains and pro line II crosses, this is a much better setup as the PLII is a slick round string and will allow for the gut to move and deliver snapback. You need a high swing speed to achieve that.
@@javace79 I used to use prince synthetic mains and rpm blast crosses. It feels nice, but the ball not as predictable as full bed synthetic gut or better, black pearl full bed. That's what I use now. 17g 52-50
