Recommend this video to tennis lovers searching for the right strings for themselves. I switched racket and thanks to a review of this channel, I could not be happier with the switch to Solinco Hyper G (original) :)
I use Hyper G Soft in my Ezone 100 rackets, strung at 44lbs. Good feel and power, last a long time. I play 4-5 times per week, after 6-8 weeks I cut them out. But most likely could continue to play for much longer without them breaking. The strings are easy on my arm, no elbow pain
Vanilla vs Soft, given that you tested them in two different racquets (at the same 55# tension)?? Anything you can attribute to the different racquet designs?
It sounds like you would be a good candidate for a hybrid setup, the way that you describe the string bed and what you want from it. I think either a hybrid poly setup, or a hybrid gut/poly. you should try something like a lynx main/hawk touch cross setup, or a gut/luxilon 4g or gut/hawk touch setup... gives you great bite and solid pocketing feel at the same time. Buuuut, not overpowered and what not. Anyway, your next review should be a hybrid, IMO.
I can definitely see why it took longer to produce this test - a lot of deep thought obviously went into it! Question - the first negative put aside as personal observation, what are your thoughts regarding how the second negative might be negated by bumping up the tension or adjusting the tension of the crosses vs that of the mains?
youre so underated man. I look all over for a review of this string until i remember your channel cuz i saw you on essential tennis. Great vid! and thanks!
So are you still hitting with Confidential 16l? I switched from that to luxilon 4g soft 16l and it feels better touch wise and the launch point feels a tad lower. I am trying one of my racquets with Wilson champions choice as well which is a Natural Gut: 16/1.30mm and Luxilon ALU Power Rough: 16L/1.25mm. We'll see how that goes... expensive experiment.

Hey Mark, loved the content and the format as always. Have you thought of doing a Top 10 review of the strings overall every 3-4 months? This would help us to see where your preferences are at the time. If you have, could you consider doing a "Money is no object" and "Best for your money" top 10 charts? Thanks again for another great video. Cheers!
Are you playing radical pro or mp? I'm really enjoying confidental 17g. I may do a hybrid with revolution in the mains and hyper g soft in the crosses but in 18g. Head Lynx tour 17g also bites the hell out of the ball. Tour bite felt harsh in 17g
Have you thought about a label printer (there are some cool small ones) to put in the throat for the string job instead of handwriting (which can smear).
My philisophy is that consumers should not have to adjust their tension to "unlock" the true potential of the strings. Its the job of the string manufacturers to do make a string thats playable within a reasonable range.
holy shit. I have not listened to Senses Fail since high school. Rum is for drinking, not for burning was my jam. Dialing it up right now on Spotify. Lets goooooooo
No. I play with the same racquet and went through a ton of strings before finding one I really think plays well on the Clash. The Gama Live Wire Professional at 58lb plays fantastic. Good control, good power, and great feel. I felt Polys just didn't play good on the cash. I normally do not play with multi's but the Gama feels perfect. Give it a try.
Good review. I have been using Hyper G soft at 50lbs for a few months on my Ezone 100. It's fine. Nothing spectacular, but does everything ok. And no arm pain. But now I want to compare it to Vokyl Cyclone.
Hey man thank you for the video. I was wondering what do you recommend for spin in a hybrid setup with natural gut I have a history of tennis elbow. I'm doing my exercises and it's gone away and I can tolerate hyper g soft pretty well in a hybrid set up with triax. I'm thinking confidential next time based on ur videos.
welpppp I just strung 5 racquets with M: Hyper G soft and X: Duraflex at 57 for the tournament I'm going to next week haha I definitely learned my lesson from the last tournament I went to. You're right, the feeling is totally different once the string bed settles
the hyper G soft was amazing for me, i was always hesitant in trying the original hyper G because of how harsh it was on the arm. when i tried the Hyper G soft 18, i accidentally strung it too low (46 / 47 lbs) because i thought i was never able to generate so much power on my own. i ended up hitting my normal shots longer so i will increase the tension to 50 / 50 next time. the spin is perfect and the feel is exquisite for me, and i like how dialed in i am when i hit the sweet spot on the ball. i strung another racquet with the confidential, and the main difference is that when i shank balls with the confidential they have a higher chance of staying in the court compared to hyper G soft. the confidential definitely feels more comfortable though.
After playing with the original hyper-g i said to give it a shot. Nowhere near in terms of playability and feel. Too soft and muted for my game. In comparison, Tour Bite Soft is probably my favorite string (i have no big experience in strings though, have played with around 10 different strings only). Regular Tour Bite is also good but too stiff on my arm, i can play for half an hour and then shift to something softer, like the HyperG or the Soft version of Tour Bite.
Dood! Absolutely loved the arty close up camera work on the strings, really good to see the shape and profile etc. Awesome editing a massive improvement on your first solinco hyper G review 😉. Now for me, I even find the standard hyper G too soft, I don't think the soft version would be for me. Greet work my man. 👍🏻 OG. ✌🏻
hey! You finally got to test the Soft version! As I commented on the Confidential video (I play tested the Soft and the Conf.) I felt that the soft was indeed jumpy (sometimes it flew away from me) at times and I had some troubles serving with spin. Nice too see you have the same thoughts about that (makes me feel less like an idiot XD). I played with the Vanilla Hyper-G and the Head Lynx Tour (1.25mm) last few weeks and I can say I liked them both over the HG-soft. The difference between the HyperG and HLynxT was in my opinion minimal except that I felt that the HLynxT was a little bit more easy to play with perhaps, more accessible. I am now in the process of switching racquets however. Leaving my power orientated Instinct for the new Head 360+ Speed MP. So I might need to play around with strings again ;) Anyway thanks for the reviews! And good luck with your next adventures!
That's nice that you prop up your own tennis server, and thank it's mods, but you dont need to do that by also negatively name-dropping another discord . Not a good look.
So I have tried this soft in the crosses with Gamma Ocho XP in the mains. Eh, its pretty good for this intermediate boomer. Mark: you gotta check out the original Fleetwood Mac from before I was even a sophomore in HS. ua-cam.com/video/T8v_OC3zWCM/v-deo.html before you walk on the court next time.

you must be using regular hyper g. the soft version feel like hitting with a pillow. this coming from someone who used tourbite, or, gutmain+ alu cross lol
Would you pick this over the Confidential? pros and cons. I'm enjoying my Confidential strings.

Is 44 lb hyper g soft good for beginner? My first racket is hyper g soft at 51.25lb, I wonder if I should go much lower like you
Hi Mark. How would you compared this one to volkl cyclone ? Thx. Cheers from Europe 😊
That first rally you showed was epic

Hey Mark, noticed you use a Head Radical, any chance we could see a review on the new Head Radical pro in the future?
that last shot in the opening was epic
What happened to your ezone? :o
Bite to break skin, The irony of dying on your birthday and especially Martini kiss. That was some of the most epic tunes in that timeperiod.

How this compare to the tested Yonex Polytour Spin blue?
Hyper g soft 17 or hyper g 18. What's the better choice Mark? 🤔
How does this string compare to the Solinco Tour Bite Soft for comfort? Do you have any recommendations for a softer poly?

But warranted
If you spend a large amount of time at the net, this string is not for you. Its far too jarring and inconsistent during slightly off center volleys.
There are much softer polys on the market for the same price. Hyper g is meh more than bweh
