I’ve played for a few months now the blade 98 v8 with polytour pro 120 at 45lbs. I recently tried the babolat hybrid pack with vs touch 16 on mains 52lbs and rpm blast 125 cross at 48lbs. The spin and power was amazing and feel is incredible. It really helps against strong hitters and you do have to reduce your power on shots but it allows for heavy high top spin and great control with much less effort. Not sure how long they will last.

So did you try poly main/multi cross? Is it better?

Do you think effect wise , a similar to your own situation would occur , if one has an 18x20 95 inch Dunlop cx 200 tour ? The string set up would be head pps or dunlop Iconic all 17 on the mains and 18 razorcode in the crosses . Full 18 gauge vears to the left with razor code .

I also tried different Hybrids and I think you should give a try to hybrid with gut. The performance of the gut for spin is much better than the multis and it also is soft and with good feeling. Regarding durability if you are not braking soon the poly gut with this coat like the WIlson one can last more than the multifilament and the tenssion maintenance is also better. The thing for me is to find a good poly to hybrid with the gut because the Alupower just dies too soon with the tenssion but maybe with some more tenssionmaintenance focused like the 4G can work really well

Some advice from someone that tried dozens of hybrids past year....use a round slippery poly as cross only like isospeed baseline( $40/ reel)... use minumum 1.25mm multi main like head velocity mlt or dunlop silk spin or tecnifibre hdmx cause they have good spin snapback for a multi

Another downside of hybrid setups is that they slowly warp the racquet due to tension maintenance being different on the mains vs the crosses. This is according to Dennis Fabian who works at HEAD.

Do you have your favorites for poly cross strings with gut mains? What are some of your favorites. Most people don't want to spend $20. a set for Luxilon like the pros. I am looking for a poly cross that marines well with natural gut to give you maximum playability. Right now I am using Hyper-G 20 gauge poly. The Solinco Hyper-G 20 in my gut / poly hybrid was arrived at by trying every other string in the Solinco line in 18 or 20 gauge (if available). Prior to that, I play tested numerous slick smooth rounded polys (dozens) to see which ones performed best. My top five previously priced under $14. a set were (in order): 1) Yonex Pro Tour FIRE 1.20; 2) Weiss CANNON Silverstring 17; 3) Kirschbaum Pro Line EVO; 4) Mayami Hit Pro 1.25; and, 5) MSV Co-Focus 17L (1.18). Just ordered Tier One GHOSTWIRE and Grapplesnake Tour M8 (which I know you like a lot). What would you top three polys be for cross strings with gut?

Interesting views as I've just moved away from hybrid poly/multi in my Head Speed Auxetic MP to a full bed of Grapplesnake Tour M8 @ 45lbs / 20kg.
Most recently I had a hybrid setup of Grapplesnake 1.25 M8 mains with Gamma TNT 1.32 crosses in one racquet and Head Velocity 1.25 crosses in the other, all @45.
The one with Gamma TNT seemed to get very firey after.a.short time and was hard to control so I tried a full bed of M8 and I love it. Still have the racquet with Velocity crosses but not enjoying it that much.
Have got through a reel of Gamma TNT in this last year or so with lots different poly mains but M8 full bed is doing it for me now.
I chose to use hybrid setups for a few years for comfort mainly as I've had elbow issues but some low tension poly sets in my Head Speeds seem to not affect me now and give me good all round performance.
Last summer I also tried Nat Gut 1.30.with Alu Power crosses and it was ok but not really tempted again.
Might try your 46 / 44 setup, Tan!
Really enjoy your videos and viewpoints, keep it up.
    Cheers.

It is also interesting to consider flex rating when choosing between a full bed of poly versus a hybrid. For example, many would prefer a full poly in a flexible racquet such as your Blade 16x19 but I find that in a stiff racquet such as the Pro Staff 97, a hybrid like WIlson Champions Choice gives more power and forgiveness and a stiff poly would make that stiffer racquet play dead with decreased feel. I do enjoy your insights and opinons and learn a lot from your reviews. Keep up the great work!

Someone already commented something to this effect, but it's worth repeating: the poly in a hybrid should be round and smooth to facilitate the snapback and not saw into the softer multi. I have had good success with 4G Soft 1.25 mains / Triax 1.33 crosses. It's a lot more comfortable and moderately more powerful than a full bed of 4G Soft. It also has decent durability and spin.

Nice video. I am thinking of trying some hybrids myself. I think it would be a good fit for my set up. Only concern is durability. I break my polys (Poly tour rev/Hyper G soft) usually in 10-14 court hours. If a hybrid set up doesnt break too fast I think ut could be a nice fit. You already play with a control oriented frame, surprised you still prefer with Poly.

    • @JangsterTH
      @JangsterTH Рік тому

If you break poly, you will break these multifilament strings easier.... my wife (beginner) and son (11.5, plays regularly) breaks the biphase-tb soft pretty quickly as well.
Now they are using biphase (17g)-ice code(18g) combo and lasts a bit longer, but my wife just snapped them this morning with probably around 15 hrs as well

    • @tantennis

Have you ever tried Babolat string savers with multi strings? They are made of PTFE (Teflon) and, in my experience, both increase the spin and durability of the multi very significantly. The downside is that you do lose some of that multifilament crispness (and, obviously, the string savers aren't free either!). Would love to see what you think!
