America's OLDEST STEAKHOUSE! Old Homestead Steakhouse NYC Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 бер 2023
- When it comes to the oldest steakhouses in NYC, many of those steakhouses are also the oldest steakhouses in the US. The list of the oldest steakhouses in America include: Keens Steakhouse, Peter Luger Steak House, Gallaghers Steakhouse, and Sparks Steak House. The oldest steakhouse in the USA though is none other than Old Homestead Steakhouse. Yes, a strong case can be made for Delmonico's Steakhouse being the oldest steak restaurant in the US, but first of all Delmonico's is closed and may not be coming back. Is Delmonico's reopening? Who knows, but we can't count a closed restaurant. Even if Delmonico's was around though Old Homestead Steakhouse is the oldest continuing steakhouse in NYC and in the USA so that counts as the oldest in my book regardless.
Old Homestead Steakhouse Atlantic City location has received rave reviews, being once named one of the top 10 restaurants in Atlantic City, but today we are reviewing the Old Homestead Steakhouse New York City location. Old Homestead Steakhouse is known for more though than history. It's known for the Old Homestead Steakhouse huge steaks. Also the Old Homestead Steakhouse filet mignon burger and the Old Homestead Steakhouse Kobe burger are also well known. Today though, we will be trying the Old Homestead Steakhouse center cut sirloin though. We will look to try other cuts next time, such as the Old Homestead Steakhouse porterhouse steak or the Old Homestead Steakhouse ribeye steak.

A 16oz, thick, prime, center cut sirloin, medium rare, is my all time favorite steak
How does he not have 10 times the subscribers yet?! Great, and balanced review, as always
I find him and James Andrews (a Chicago transplant to NYC on YT) very refreshing - neither one is a poseur and there’s a lot of that in the food world! But I also think that the same restaurants are covered over and over again. I’d like to see more examples of “food tubers” uncovering spots that few are aware of, and helping these worthy establishments succeed, places like the hard-to-describe “Cheburechnaya” in Rego Park, Queens and Vietnamese “Pasteur Grill” on Baxter Street in Chinatown come to mind! 🍴
How? How? How? I mean what are we doing 🤓
his content sucks could be possible answer
Racism.
Theres like thousands of food reviewers. Most likely you get buried from top foodies like mark weins, etc
So this is in my top 5 steakhouses in NYC. I worked in the West Village for years, and have been here many, many times. Sorry about the allergy, but their oysters Rockefeller are my favorite. I've had a few different cuts from here, and they were all always good. Thanks for another great review sir!
I definitely enjoyed it. Will need to go back sometime to try other cuts. I hear their other steaks are enormous
@@uaeats For a minute there I thought Mikey Chen put on weight.
I'd love to hear more about the oysters Rockefeller!
One of my favorite pairings with steak.
You are a welcome part of this day. Keep up the hard good work. Took me 4 times of rewinding your video after I got off work but well worth the repeat. Thank you. I appreciate you.
I'm glad you enjoyed the vid and it was a good part of your daily routine! Thanks for watching 4 times!
Another amazing review! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for watching!
i love when you smile with your eyes. genuine hapiness.
I really love your videos. Hope your channel continues to grow
Thanks! I hope so too!
Thanks for the review UA. I’m due for an awesome steak so your review was timely. Keep up the great work👍
Hope you enjoy it if you end up eating there!
You have the best food reviews in the business! Keep it up!!!
Thanks for the kind words!
I've only eaten at Lugers,Old Homestead and Gallaghers and I have to say Old Homestead has repeatedly been my favorite
I love these reviews!
Thanks! And I love all of your support!
Great review as always!
Thank you!
Yes UA, I certainly enjoyed coming with you - in honesty, twice....
Had to watch it again as was making dinner and listening at same time
I love your videos/ reviews. Can you please review Sparks Steakhouse?
Thumbs up for the Fuddruckers reference. They still have one near me thank God
I ate at the Old Homestead that used to be in Las Vegas back in 2019 and it was TREMENDOUS!!!!!!!
You waited 45 minutes for the steak to come, only to eat the complimentary bread first. LOL
You’ve never been to a restaurant before huh?
Maybe we wanted the steak to rest before he cut into it.
Great review as usual. I wish you would have dipped your fries in some of that ketchup. High end steak houses usually make their own and I’m curious as to how this ketchup tasted. It looked house made.
Oh shoot good point! I was too full I didn't even think about that. Next time!
Foodie of the foodies! Love to watch your videos especially when I eats. :D
Greetings from Finland!
Thanks for watching! Great to hear from Finland!
There are other food review channels on UA-cam... but this is the best one.
Awesome thanks for sharing enjoy your leftovers 😀
I wound up knocking out that burger in one sitting the next day!
you always remind me of Bobby Hill from the series King of the Hill. Steaks and all, it fits quite nicely into the lore!
From where I’m sitting it appears that they absolutely nailed it.
You need a friend to help you finish your meal. I’m available!
Thank u so much for this video,.... I'm flying in to NYC from Chicago and thanx to ur video I'm definitely goin to this restaurant. Thanx bud
Thanks for the vid! Found your channel & subscribed recently. Would have been great if you showed more of the restaurant/atmosphere if possible. But I know other vids, you've showed more!
Thanks for the sub! I think it was harder to show the atmosphere since my back was to the wall so the camera didn't record the restaurant in the background.
Hey UA love your stuff brother!!! I am a vegetarian, but I still enjoy all they places you go and food you introduce. KEEP IT UP. John form Canada
I used to love the Old Homestead for 2 things. They had a huge Prime Rib that hung off the plate, and the 4.5 lb. Lobster, which back in the 70s was only about $60. A great deal as compared to now.
I'm not the biggest fan of prime rib as I feel the fat renders more in grilled steaks, but I hear good things about it and that's just my personal preference. Too bad I can't eat lobster anymore 😢
Love you're reviews, new subscriber. You are honest as hell😊. Wish you went to Atlantic City sometime.
Thanks! I actually did just last weekend. It's my latest video!
@@uaeats LOL, I watch so many Utube channels I didn't realize I already saw it. 😅 My bad.
Nice review
Love your channel UA!
Thank you!
The Old Homestead has always been my favorite... tried all the big famous ones... this will always be S tier for me 😊😋
Great videos!
Thanks!
That bread looked like it could be used to play the drums--but everything else looked amazing! Definitely large portions!
Haha you weren't wrong about that bread!
Love the steakhouse videos, UA!!!! When are you going to do some west coast food reviews?!
I might be in California later this year for a wedding. If so I'll try to make a vid while there!
@@uaeats awesome!
@@uaeats wow! If your ever in Los Angeles. I’ve got my favorite Pizza in the whole world here since 1957. Thin Crispy Cracker Crust. Buffalo Style Cup& Char Pepperonis. Cooked Well Done. Cheers from California 😊
Awesome video! I regret not eating there when I lived up that way.
It's never too late next time you're in town! They also have an Atlantic City location
Im pretty new to this channel but have watched a bunch in the past few days. I love your videos so far but i have 1 question, what's with the 1 handed buttering thing?
Can you order dessert next time please? I think that would be fun.
thank you for going that extra mile and trying that burger
Sadly, the OH has recently it's doors in Las Vegas, where it operated inside Caesar's Palace for years. Dined there on several occasions and always had a good steak dinner or in one visit for lunch, a great burger. It was the only high end steakhouse I'm aware that offered to cook your steak medium rare+, which was that fine line between medium & medium rare. I'll miss the professional service this establishment always provided.
I do not know have any business like restaurant’s can afford the rent and taxes !!!! Prices looked reasonable for the quality of food!! Thank you for posting❤
Great video! Your delicious steak reviews can even make my Spam taste better. 😜
I love me some spam!
Top Sirloin is a truly underrated steak, glad you enjoyed it and that they did it right
Yes it's very underrated and underappreciated!
I miss Fuddrucker's too...great looking Burger here; needs a hearty bun! Medium, though? Needed a little pink in there for me. That burger, chopped with chopped romaine and crumbled blue cheese would be a base for a great dinner salad...
Thank you ❤️
You're welcome!
I had a Filet once with Bordelaise sauce on it and it was outstanding. I was hoping you tried one that came with it for your opinion.
I hope you give us a video of Delmonico's!
"My eyes were too big for much stomach." Lol, says the guy with the smallest eyes ever haha. Good reviews!
The sirloin you ate is the New York strip.
Sirloin is a different cut from the Top Butt
Glad you enjoyed it loved the video 😊
It was a center cut sirloin/top sirloin steak, not a NY Strip. NY Strip though may be my favorite cut
👍
Keep doing what you are doing. Your content is well made and high quality and could break out at any time.
I ate there once. I had prime rib and it was huge and great.
I hope you got a "to go" box for all that food.
You got to check out Forsythe Fire Escape, they make a burrito with pernil pork wrapped in a scallion pancake that was amazing
Wow, I feel like that may work! I'll have to try it
That burger looked fire! Steak too but I would expect that🔥🔥🔥🔥
It was good!
P.S. I’ve never tried a Fuddrucker’s burger but they do have a location in Parsippany, NJ in case you’re homesick for one. 🍔
Old Homestead to me , is the best .. There Porterhouse is HUGE!! And delicious. They’re sides are very good too. Only have been to the one in AC .
Nice review as usual, UA. That steak looked great, and the burger was huge. The fries were well done, which is exactly how I like them! This place is quite pricey, so I think I'll save it for a special occasion. Thanks!
The food was overall good, I recommend it! Yep it was definitely pricey so I'm glad I was able to show it to you so you can all make your own decisions on if and when to eat there
you need to get to New Orleans and hit all the classic Creole fine dining spots like Galatoire's, Antoine's, Commander's Palace, Arnaud's and Tujague’s.
Center cut sirloins are so underrated. Super beefy and tender.
Thanks for the review - I passed this place a few ago in Chelsea - wearing my E A G L E S hat
Much Thx!!!
Thanks for watching!
Glad to see you eat more burgers. Especially steak house burgers. What's the next steakhouse burger?
Not sure. Got any recs?
@@uaeats Yes. UA hit up Quality Meats Steakhouse and try their burger. It's a must !!!
@@uaeats
None, yet I'm not a New Yorker......I only know about the places you post. I will try to do a Boston list for ya though and I will make my way through Chinatown as well to find great Char Sui. Thx UA
I have been to Old Homestead in Manhattan several times though it's been a while since I have been there. I found the staff to be rude with no patience, the restaurant itself was very dark where we sat. The food was good but not the best I have had. Having said all of that, I was also at Old Homestead in Atlantic city. That restaurant was bright and modern and the wait staff was excellent and for some reason, even the food was better. It was a much more pleasant, all around experience.
I got the meat sweats just watching this LOL. The steak and burger looked so dang good.
Love the usage of “Hubris”. 😝
Lol, I paid attention in AP English
U A need more videos please Thanks Debbie
UA Keep up the awesome work! What’s your favorite NYC steakhouse?
$47.00 you can keep that burger. I can eat 5 times at 5 guys or In and Out and enjoy it just as much!!
Sounds good then keep doing what you're doing but I bet you want it to lay into that steak
Haha you're right except 5 Guys is like $15 a meal now, so it's more like 3 times
Completely agreed. For $47, I’ll grab 2 pounds of 80/20 Chuck, a case of beer, and my Charcoal Weber as the cooking source……And I’ll be happy.
@@MrBluesilverredpoor guy alert 🚨
Sir, you are brave enough to enter a NY steakhouse with an eagles hat 😆
I like to live life on the edge
delmonico's also started out as a reg upscale restaurant... old homestead has always been a steakhouse
I ate at their location in Caesers Palace. The steak was fantastic. I think it's permanently closed though now unfortunately
Bistro B just opened in their space.
Clearly, you liked it much better than Peter Luger’s- I just watched your video review of Lugers, before this one. But how does this place compare to the other steak restaurants you have reviewed?
The prices don't look too bad... to me at least. I mean, they're not everyday meal prices, but well within a special occasion range.
How can seasonings fill you up?
Eat there 25 years of ago and it was great.
25 years later it's still great!
I don't understand a Kobe burger. When you grind beef for a hamburger, you can adjust the mix of lean to fat which seems to negate the idea of Kobe beef.
Is this in Borgata in AC?
I'm no expert but I know enough to see that that steak was well sourced, well aged, and trimmed expertly which can make a huge difference. It also looks like a standard blackening rub, which I do like, but not something to justify the price jump. Food looked good but not that price point good, it's still just a sirloin. I'd maybe pay that for a ribeye of the same quality as long as it had a full cap, but honestly I could throw together a really good sirloin meal out of my air fryer for way way less and be fine. I honestly don't notice too much of a taste difference in expensive cuts versus moderate priced meats when aged (excluding Walmart meat which is awful) except for a good bone in ribeye. Other than that I find most other cuts a waste of money except for the occasional legit porterhouse, which I can't even find here in California anymore. Regardless love your reviews as always, I tune in every time.
Thanks for your continued support! I do agree that top sirloin is usually cheaper so it was a bit overpriced, but the place is a famous steakhouse and it's in a very touristy part of town so it's not unexpected.
@UA Eats far as I can tell you give really honest reviews but also factor in the environment. This was over priced but looked like an awesome foodie spot and you pretty much said that, which is exactly the info we need. I'll pay a bit extra for good food with some fanfare, but I don't want to go somewhere mediocre that overcharges and treats me poorly. I think that's where you excel, a normal guy wanting good food and competent service for a fair price. I know that's what I want. Thanks for the content!
Omg that burger! I almost ate my phone
Price aside, all great steakhouses charge a good price for a GREAT STEAK, The OLD HOMESTESD IS A GREAT STEAKHOUSE THAT ANY STEAK LOVER WOULD ENJOY.
Lived a round the corner for about 28years
Just pick the bag up - how hard is it?
Come back to philly and check out alpen rose!
Thanks for the rec!
These prices are insane! In eastern europe it would be $10 for steak and $10 for burger
Wow. I need to go to Eastern Europe sometime to splurge on food!
Eating prime steak.. a tough gig but somewhat has to do it.
I have eaten there. Pretty good, but very very very expensive
This dude feels like a character from The Office.
Are you from Philadelphia
A good sirloin works for me.
UA do you have a Patreon page yet? Or could you post your Venmo and CashApp? We’d love to treat you to a lunch or a snack. We’d also like to see an Instagram page where you put the thumbnail of your newest video, along with a picture of each food item you experience and a teaser title with a link to the UA-cam vid… keep crushing it UA. You’re great, you’ll be at 15k soon!
I thought about making a Patreon but I'm not sure if I have that level of support yet. But if you disagree let me know! Regarding Patreon though and Instagram/Tiktok UA Eats accounts I was gonna save that for when I'm able to make the transition to full-time UA-camr. Right now though still working a full time job and doing this on the side so don't have the bandwidth yet to manage all those pages.
how'd u order the steak? medium rare? or rare?
looks medium to me
Medium rare
That’s gotta be so cool eating at the oldest steakhouse in the country, and the food looked so tasty! At least you’ll have a lot of leftovers. 😂
Yeah, when a NYC waiter (who is working on commissions) says that you are ordering too much food, you are ordering too much food. And why did you think you could eat 36 oz. of meat in the first place? SMH
That's my steak house I used to work across the street thay got one in Vegas too the best the king
70$ for a sirloin? Awe hell no
Pretty GooOOod
Indeed!
you need to review smith & wolensky and the palm in nyc which in IMO are better than any you've reviewed thus far
I could never afford to eat in NY. Looks delicious tho!
A lot of affordable places to eat in NY but this is a steakhouse. You can go to buttfuck, Mississippi and it will be expensive if it’s a steakhouse💯
To be fair steaks are especially pricy, but yeah I'd say food in NYC is definitely above average price. I think I'm gonna record a cheap eats vid sometime soon though
That steak almost looks like it was cooked sous vide then seared. Interesting.
Salt, pepper and MSG! 😂
Can you take home the leftovers ?
The secret steak houses use is that they inject the steak with beef Boolean
