Not a fan of the new electric cars from VW. That dashboard reflection would make me crazy in short time of usage. Same as the shiny plastics that will be very ugly filled with scratches in no time. Have also to mention the hard plastic on the back doors and the manual stick keeping the hood up (for safety they say, but at audi + other more expensive, have gas struts). A very cheap ugly car, with a very cheap interior, at a very high price. Still can't believe people prefer VW ID's over other makers. Sad to see so little logical thinking about the price/quality ratio. Great video by the way, only the car i don't like!
Toate cele bune.
6.3 sec...in the sporty version? That seems noticeably slower than all of its competition, even excluding the Model Y Performance, Mach E GT, and Polestar 2. Even the non-sporty AWD versions of the competition are quite a bit faster and there's no doubt VW will charge the same for this as those. I guess GTX is just an appearance package.
Interesting...simliar like a GTI and anyone is calling it a Sporty Car. Most people do not really care at all...it is fast enough. All EVs are usally fast at 100...it does not matter if you are after 5 or 9 second at 120km/h, since you cannot drive faster in an EV due to limited range. This is kind of complete useless discussion.
You didn't sit in the backseats, you were leaning forward and it looked like you wouldn't be able to lean back because of lack of headspace. Please show headroom in the back row...
I really dont like the styling choices made on the ID range. They were named ID supposedly as they are significant next phase cars for VW like the Beetle and the Golf were. Whilst that may be true, both those cars were innovative and forward thinking while the ID range seems to be retro influenced in the external styling and only average in their class. The ENYAQs are way better looking, more modern designs inside and out, as is the Cupra. This GTX seems a bit of a desperate attempt to inject some desirability into a very dull car. I dont know whether its the fall out of diesel gate but the cars just look cheap to my eyes. As you can tell, would not be on my shopping list for an EV but at least the software appears to work now ...... finally.
The GTI / Golf R are the most successful and longest lasting VW models since the Beetle. But VW has done everything possible to kill them with recent poor quality and over complicated needless electronics that can be imagined. And terrible uniformity in dealer pricing in the USA. Looks like they are doing the same thing in this EV. Why not simply duplicated the GTI styling and develop an EV model with the original characteristics of the GTI (performance, handling, reliability at reasonable price). And dont get me started on how VW totally misread the USA market for the Passat and caused its failure by not having the 6 Cylinder engine in a stylish and reasonable priced package. VW wants to be BMW/Mercedes when its American customers want it to be Beetle......not gonna work.
They didn't try much to change it from the ID4. Also nothing Volks about a vagen costing that much. This car is unaffordable for the vast majority of people.
I have Tiguan SEL-R 2022 and these touch buttons look really cheap, majority of consumers don't like that design and yet VW keep implementing it into the vehicles. ID5 is so far the only ev I would get but these buttons......Atlas has beautifully designed push buttons, you can feel them and they upgrade the look of a car. .
Still the hideous blue door and dashboard surfaces. And I believe there is no options to choose a different color. That was the case when I testdrived the ID 4 GTX and asked an offer from it. VW really have to fire that guy whos responsible for this decision 😅. They are really a big turn off for me. And touch capacitive buttons on the steering wheel + all the piano black on the interior 👎👎. So I went with the Enyaq sportline and with black interior design 👌 Thank you for the review, superb as always 🤜🤛
Hello, Thomas. In need of a well-executed review of Tesla autopilot in Europe right now (basic and self-lane changing enabled). Controversial info about its operation appearing all over twitter. Need to see a real picture!
Nice, but completely unobtainable. VW haven't released a single EV here and suspect we will be subject to a huge price premium over other markets when they eventually do.
Not a bad car for everyday driving I guess but ergonomy and some design details show a non-mature aspect of this New VW layout. I prefer the old era with Golf 7 as the representant.
If not having a frunk means more interior space for passengers, then not having one makes sense. And in a small car, you want as much passenger space as possible. BTW, Thomas always has the best scenery!
Hmm, piano Black is Not Cheap. You need special Tools to get this surface, which is expensive. And slush skin to have a soft surface is an Energy an with this a CO2 footprint nightmare. Don't understand why soft is better...it is just Hard plastic, a foam, and plastic foil on top...3 Layers of plastic instead of one...about 15kg more weight for a car.
@@josefv-y8m piano black LOOKS cheap. it’s not lacquered wood, it’s plastic and they never really get THAT look right. also it gets scratched really easily, which makes it look even worse (cheaper), fast. as for soft materials: again, it’s mostly about the look. use fabric, faux suede, metal, anything: but hard plastic just looks cheap. also, haptics play a role, surfaces that you actually have physical contact with - feel nicer if soft.
i dont get why people always reference it having no frunk! I don't want to open a dirty bonnet to get my lead. its tethered at home. and if i charge on street then ill open the boot to get my lead.
VW has perfect steering wheel in Caddy, Multivan with real buttons, just use it in all models - ID BUzz as well:) and use some lights under climate and volume controls ASAP, not 2023:) Ev without the frunk is OEM being lazy especially interior is not bigger than Tiguan for example.
Sorry but yet another dull, uninspiring car from VW. The interior looks cheap and when will car manufacturers start designing a better looking UI. The icons look like they were designed in MSPaint 20 years ago
VW cost cutting interior/tech has me immediately writing its new vehicles off. The touch capacitive everything is poor at best. Happy they worked on some of the lag the infotainment system had but still not fully fixed. Not sure how some of there half baled tech ideas of VW made it into there production vehicles.
Please point out in future any alloy wheels that rotate in different directions on the near-side and off-side of the vehicle. Manufacturers must stop this cost cutting poor design, don’t you think.
Good morning, Thomas! I hope VW come to their senses and move away from #capacitiveBS and toward high quality physical controls. Backlit or not, nobody likes the sliders. Just ask Honda.
It is a question of taste.I like the ID 4 better even if I like my diesel SUV better which can be tanked in 2 minutes an d have a range more than 800 km !
I'm waiting for the ID 4 GTX but it''s taking a lot of time to deliver it and I wish that the dealership would provide more information. Because I see a lot of rumors about people now getting their cars and they ordered after me. Which makes me wonder what the f**** VW are doing. And it may be that I'm asking too much but i find other people who even get to know what number in the production line they are and how long the estimate for that given number is in time. But with VW it seems like they are just giving me the middle finger, and that's not a nice experience.
Don’t know why they don’t deal with Lucid since there motors are tiny and batteries range is claimed 500 miles …no brainier . Plus at end the day if the infer structure re charging is not same as Tesla then…. IMO still don’t see the point of electric cars as still got be Convinced it makes TOTAL environmentally sense from getting raw materials to the tech of batteries.

Still just another MEB platform and too close to the ID.4.
Where to put your dirty cables when on vacation with full bagage.. no frunk, so in with your clothes..😂
Thanks Henrik!!
Why do they put the charging port on the right?
@Stefan D. On the left is closer to the driver
Not sure why you are reviewing VWs you can’t place orders for the cars due to the supply issues.
So we should only review used cars at this moment?
@@autogefuehl good idea 👍 and cars you can actually order
When will manufacturers learn to *NOT* put glossy plastic on surfaces that are frequently touched
I agree. 6.3 sec for GTX version especially for e-car is too slow. The minimum for any sport version should be sub 5 sec imho.
I hope more EV cars get introduced in India 🇮🇳. I bought one but not happy with it (TATA Nexon EV) ..
Range is the issue & way less charging stations.
The import taxes for products from outside India is ridiculous. Only way is to manufacture in India….say no more.
You didn't sit in the backseats, you were leaning forward and it looked like you wouldn't be able to lean back because of lack of headspace.
Please show headroom in the back row...
Thomas , were you colour matching your outfit to the mountains ? 😎😎
😄👍👍👍
I’m here only to enjoy beautiful Austrian nature and great presentation of the boring and cheap looking electric VW😁
😂
They didn't try much to change it from the ID4.
Also nothing Volks about a vagen costing that much. This car is unaffordable for the vast majority of people.
I have Tiguan SEL-R 2022 and these touch buttons look really cheap, majority of consumers don't like that design and yet VW keep implementing it into the vehicles. ID5 is so far the only ev I would get but these buttons......Atlas has beautifully designed push buttons, you can feel them and they upgrade the look of a car.
.
I'd prefer VRS Enyaq package inside and outside vs the VW. Same underneath so.....
So I went with the Enyaq sportline and with black interior design 👌
Thank you for the review, superb as always 🤜🤛
Appreciated !
Hello, Thomas. In need of a well-executed review of Tesla autopilot in Europe right now (basic and self-lane changing enabled). Controversial info about its operation appearing all over twitter. Need to see a real picture!
We will check it out
Yes Thomas left is right lol
Nice, but completely unobtainable. VW haven't released a single EV here and suspect we will be subject to a huge price premium over other markets when they eventually do.
Where are you living?
Not a bad car for everyday driving I guess but ergonomy and some design details show a non-mature aspect of this New VW layout. I prefer the old era with Golf 7 as the representant.
Golf 4 to 7 with bad ergonomy..... screen dangerously low. Takes eyes from road.
Better looking than the Q4 sportback.
Same ugly😁
Same garbage
Amazing car
If not having a frunk means more interior space for passengers, then not having one makes sense. And in a small car, you want as much passenger space as possible. BTW, Thomas always has the best scenery!
hard plastics, capacitive buttons, piano black everywhere… VW continues it’s trend to put cheap VW up! interiors into cars twice the price…
At least it has ambient lighting 😂
Thomas you broke it
i dont get why people always reference it having no frunk! I don't want to open a dirty bonnet to get my lead. its tethered at home. and if i charge on street then ill open the boot to get my lead.
came form Electroheads and they also shot at Austria...
so i guess these vehicles were in Austria fro review purposes
For a car in this price range that infotaimnet system should be much faster. For this price, this car is a no go.
i wish there was an option for a normal steering wheel...without the shit touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel
There's no point to any of these ID vehicles until they fix the window switches and dashboard switchgear to be actually usable
That joke in the first minute. 🤣
=)
Sharp looking too....
Thomas, was that a VW guy driving with you? :-)
Cameraman Cornelius 😎
@@autogefuehl ha ha sorry :-)
VW has perfect steering wheel in Caddy, Multivan with real buttons, just use it in all models - ID BUzz as well:) and use some lights under climate and volume controls ASAP, not 2023:) Ev without the frunk is OEM being lazy especially interior is not bigger than Tiguan for example.
Inside not up to the Kia
Sorry but yet another dull, uninspiring car from VW. The interior looks cheap and when will car manufacturers start designing a better looking UI. The icons look like they were designed in MSPaint 20 years ago
VW cost cutting interior/tech has me immediately writing its new vehicles off. The touch capacitive everything is poor at best. Happy they worked on some of the lag the infotainment system had but still not fully fixed. Not sure how some of there half baled tech ideas of VW made it into there production vehicles.
I don’t care about frunks
Please point out in future any alloy wheels that rotate in different directions on the near-side and off-side of the vehicle. Manufacturers must stop this cost cutting poor design, don’t you think.
Why is that a problem? you can't see the wheels on both sides at once and not at all visible when driving at normal speeds.
ICE is a strange akrinim as using an ICE vehicle melts the ice.
I kinda liked the recent VW ICE cars, design wise. But all the ID. cars just don't look good to me at all.
Good morning, Thomas!
I hope VW come to their senses and move away from #capacitiveBS and toward high quality physical controls. Backlit or not, nobody likes the sliders. Just ask Honda.
Indeed
God i hate new Vw cars ,they have hard plastic all over the place ,I mean come on 🤮
It is a question of taste.I like the ID 4 better even if I like my diesel SUV better which can be tanked in 2 minutes an d have a range more than 800 km !
IMHO, they failed with the GTX model. IF your going to make a GTX is should be able to 0-6 in at least 4 seconds.
God, Austria is beautiful
indeed !
Nice car with white technologies.
Can we just call it a 'Voltswaggen' now?
I really love electric cars of Volkswagen but y r they making good looking cars with a less acceleration figures compared to the competition 😡😡😡😡
looks much sportier but the Tesla is dominating our market, based daddy Elon may be saving crypto too
I have been taking for a ride to often by the VAG concern (Touran) i am done with them!!
Why
Looks like a Jetta that got stung by a bee.
frunk would be good.
No clear different between id4 and id5, wonder why vw is doing this
Since all SUVs have a Coupe Version of the same at the Moment...just fashion...any OEM is doing this since the ugly Beast BMW X6 was introduced.
The way temperature and volume are set is simply stupid! Zero ergonomics in that infotainment system!
Check out our Lucid Air review: ua-cam.com/video/ZWoWdyfGFzg/v-deo.html
EVs are cheaper to run, this is a good reason to get one.
