    This time, I hand the mic over to Peter and Gehren to let them provide their reasons why they like either the Model Y or the ID.4. Currently, Peter owns both cars where Gehren sold his ID.4 and got a Tesla Model Y. Watch to see their real world ownership thoughts as to which they like best and why

    I own both Model Y and ID.4 as well. I prefer driving the ID.4. It’s a great ride! On trips, though, it’s Model Y hands down. It charges faster, and the superchargers are typically in areas you want to spend time in. The ID.4 comes with 3 years of free charging with Electrify America, but they are usually in Walmart parking lots. The Model Y also has Dog Mode. So my summation is: ID.4 in my everyday life, but Model Y on trips.

    Why not both? There seems to be a growing number of people like myself that have both. Each is good in their own way. For comfort, ID4 all day long and it isn't even close. For road trips, Model Y is really easy, especially for a noob, but the free charging in the ID4 means that its my go-to for road trips for now and I've not had any major problems, but I am also very experienced with EV road tripping. But as you said, they are both awesome cars.

    I live in Michigan and considering both Model Y & ID4 but concerned about 2 things (looking for experienced advice):
    1) cold weather range
    2) durability (in MI the roads and environment can be tough on “dainty” cars… which one can survive better over potholes, winter sliding into curbs, etc…. I rented a Model 3 in Cali and it was great but seemed pretty “breakable” if I drove it in Michigan… wondering if I just stick with aICR truck that I can not worry about… but I did love the Tesla experience… especially the tech part.. felt like an Apple product experience ..)
    Thx

    l bought a new ID4 pro s AWD over the Y model mainly due to better fit and finish and more comfortable ride. I just think Tesla's front end is extremely ugly (unfinished) unlike the X model. Greetings from Poland, on the other side of the world we have similar doubts and here, 600 miles from the Volkswagen headquarters, Tesla also wins. Interestingly, the 2-year-old ID.4 loses about 40% of its value on the secondary market, while the Tesla Y loses about 20%. Since I am planning to buy a used car, I will probably choose ID.4 because it is cheaper. P.S. A basic Tesla Y in Europe costs about $53,000 - and that's weak. And I will pay more for my 2years old ID.4 than Tesla Y cost in US.

      The latest info available says that the 2170 batteries of the M3P are outperforming the 4680 batteries of the MY. Keep in mind though that the 18650 batteries of the Models S and X are performing the best at this time.

    • @belavet
      @belavet Рік тому

      I'd compare the MY LR to MY 4680 if I were comparing two vehicles, but I guess you are maybe looking at price points being closer? I'd avoid 3680 ONLY IF planning on keeping the car "forever" simply because servicing the battery will be a nightmare compared to the single unit they can drop out of the bottom of the cars. Right now, TODAY, the 4680 is a manufacturing advantage, not a consumer advantage. And I don't personally feel that manufacturing advantage is represented by enough of a price reduction. You also get a slightly reduced charge peak and 0-60 time with the 4680.

    • @scottbreseke716
      @scottbreseke716 Рік тому +1

      For value (cost saving) the M3 Rear Wheel Drive would be better than the MY4680. I like the M3P myself, and they might start putting 4680 batteries in that eventually. The MY is better for hauling around more cargo and passenger luggage.
