You mention Mario games being used to sell a console's selling points and for GameCube and Sunshine you just say that it was a more powerful console. True, but I also think the GameCube really excelled at water textures, and I think that's why so many GameCube games go hard on watery and aquatic environments. That's why they decided Mario should go to a tropical environment and probably why Wind Waker was so heavily ocean-based. At least, assuming my interpretation is correct, that would make sense to me.

I like him being honest about which games he doesn't like, and he gives clear descriptions of why he doesn't. Furthermore, he is mostly descriptive and only prescriptive in a constructive manner. That's a habit that a lot of UA-camrs really need (i.e. all of them). And also, he doesn't stuff silent thinking time with tons of ‘eehh’s. I'd like to see a review of all the final 3D levels. They're the final exams of their respective games, and it would be an interesting way to analyze how each game cranks up the difficulty in comparison to the first levels.

I was partially expecting we’d see some content on new Mario Maker 2 features like switch blocks in the 3d world style, and what new contraptions that enables. So glad to see you uploading again! But I'm glad you decided to take a break and focus on other things when you needed to. Burnout is inevitable, as well as things happening outside of UA-cam that require attention and time, and I would always rather people take their time rather than forcing themselves to make videos through everything. It makes you happier, videos are always better when the content creator really has the inspiration and time for it, so the fans will be happier as well! Whatever the case, I'm always glad to see things made surprisingly simple again!

I sorta theorized a similar thing about the existence of 3D Land/World as sort of a way to "bridge the gap" between the bestselling 2D Mario games with the critically acclaimed 3D Mario games and glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. I also appreciate how honest you are about your original misgivings about 3D World and your understanding of "more limited movement does not always equal bad." Also, while I appreciate the explanation and I'm happy to have you back, Ceave, I want to make sure you know that you don't owe us anything. Thanks for returning. I'm probably wasting my time writing this paragraph, but here we go... Odysseys Levels are so different. They all don't have many different gimmicks, because the gimmicks are the many different moons on the Overworld. The game isn't as focused on the small levels as 3D Land/World, but has many more things outside. And while these rooms, might seem boring at first, playing through them is actually still fun even after hundreds of hours. They still are verz diverse and outstanding, but get the same vibe with either having the "Out-of-this-World" theme (literally its name) or normal levels based on the world, e.g. the stony, mossy Underground levels from Cascade Kingdom. The green room you showed as example has the gimmick of being foggy and either needing Cappy to be thrown for some slight visibility or using the Energy Rings for better visibility, but the risk of taking damage. It makes the player watch out and then there's some enemies thrown into the mix to keep them on their toes. Another level is one from the Moon Kingdom, it's one of the only levels that still has low gravity. You need to time your jumps onto those seesaws while dodging the shots of octopuses. While I get your point that Odysseys sub-areas might get boring and linear after a while, Odyssey, like a lot of Games for the Switch, is the first Mario game ever (yes, these people still exist) or in a long time. While everyone is familiar with Bowser or Princess Peach, not everyone has seen so many versatile ways of platforming. I've played my first save file of Odyssey to 100% blind. Only watched the trailers and 5 Minutes of Cap Kingdom. Got some reviews and opinions from friends. Asked on the internet. Everyone told me to get this game. So I did. And playing through it... I'm on my 5th 100% save file now. Man this game is a 11/10 even with Hint Art and reused bosses and Jump Rope. I'd pay double the price for this game.
I really loved 3D World. I never played 3D Land and I had a blast playing 3D World in local co op. In fact I think it's one of the best local co op games of the last decade, it's really fun.

"You can't have both at the same time." Tell that to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury! They added the dive, ground pound jump, AND the spin jump from Odyssey into the game, and it feels GREAT! Especially when you tack on Rosalina's ability to spin like in Galaxy... The movement is surprisingly in-depth and it's insane!

In Mario Galaxy 1&2 we have the long jump, as well as the backflip and wall jump + the spin which i believe is quite of a movement for a character. Great video btw (glad ur back)

I was partially expecting we’d see some content on new Mario Maker 2 features like switch blocks in the 3d world style, and what new contraptions that enables.
But there’s no rush, for now we’re just glad you’re back :)
So glad to see you uploading again! But I'm glad you decided to take a break and focus on other things when you needed to. Burnout is inevitable, as well as things happening outside of UA-cam that require attention and time, and I would always rather people take their time rather than forcing themselves to make videos through everything. It makes you happier, videos are always better when the content creator really has the inspiration and time for it, so the fans will be happier as well!
Whatever the case, I'm always glad to see things made surprisingly simple again!

I sorta theorized a similar thing about the existence of 3D Land/World as sort of a way to "bridge the gap" between the bestselling 2D Mario games with the critically acclaimed 3D Mario games and glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. I also appreciate how honest you are about your original misgivings about 3D World and your understanding of "more limited movement does not always equal bad."

I'm probably wasting my time writing this paragraph, but here we go...
Odysseys Levels are so different. They all don't have many different gimmicks, because the gimmicks are the many different moons on the Overworld.
The game isn't as focused on the small levels as 3D Land/World, but has many more things outside. And while these rooms, might seem boring at first, playing through them is actually still fun even after hundreds of hours.
They still are verz diverse and outstanding, but get the same vibe with either having the "Out-of-this-World" theme (literally its name) or normal levels based on the world, e.g. the stony, mossy Underground levels from Cascade Kingdom.
The green room you showed as example has the gimmick of being foggy and either needing Cappy to be thrown for some slight visibility or using the Energy Rings for better visibility, but the risk of taking damage. It makes the player watch out and then there's some enemies thrown into the mix to keep them on their toes.
Another level is one from the Moon Kingdom, it's one of the only levels that still has low gravity. You need to time your jumps onto those seesaws while dodging the shots of octopuses.
While I get your point that Odysseys sub-areas might get boring and linear after a while, Odyssey, like a lot of Games for the Switch, is the first Mario game ever (yes, these people still exist) or in a long time. While everyone is familiar with Bowser or Princess Peach, not everyone has seen so many versatile ways of platforming.
I've played my first save file of Odyssey to 100% blind. Only watched the trailers and 5 Minutes of Cap Kingdom. Got some reviews and opinions from friends. Asked on the internet. Everyone told me to get this game. So I did.
And playing through it...
I'm on my 5th 100% save file now.
Man this game is a 11/10 even with Hint Art and reused bosses and Jump Rope.
I'd pay double the price for this game.

I really loved 3D World. I never played 3D Land and I had a blast playing 3D World in local co op. In fact I think it's one of the best local co op games of the last decade, it's really fun.

There have been tons of things going on in my life the last year. A couple of family things, a couple of things regarding people close to me, and of course: girlz stuff.

Tell that to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury! They added the dive, ground pound jump, AND the spin jump from Odyssey into the game, and it feels GREAT! Especially when you tack on Rosalina's ability to spin like in Galaxy... The movement is surprisingly in-depth and it's insane!

In Mario Galaxy 1&2 we have the long jump, as well as the backflip and wall jump + the spin which i believe is quite of a movement for a character.
