Grand finale galaxy was actually the perfect end to super mario galaxy. Where the beginning of the game has you waking up to a single Luma in a lone galaxy, the ending shows you the fruits of what you've done- a party, surrounded by your friends, the people you've saved. It's very heartwarming and just made Rosalinas message at the end of the game hit so much more.
Yeah why the heck does he keep ripping on it, and half this video is just talking about the same stuff he complained about for his "easiest/hardest" video.
Gotta say I heavily disagree about Grand Finale being galaxy’s worst. It’s not amazingly impressive, but the chill vibe fit the game. The real worst level was Snow Cap Galaxy. Star Bunnies in the Snow is just not fun, even when knowing where they are.
For Super Mario Odyssey, excluding those which serves as Boss Stages, my hated Kingdom is Lake Kingdom. I felt the region was way too small compared to the others. Seaside Kingdom was better as there's much to explore especially underwater.
Lake Kingdom feels so claustrophobic I don't blame you for the longest time. I said Lost Kingdom on my end for awhile because of the instant-kill poison but i grown to love the platforming challenges it presents because of it.
What? Lake Kingdom is one of my favorite while Seaside Kingdom felt much more compact and boring. Heck I thought you were talking a put seaside kingdom when you said lake kingdom since I tend to mix up the two.
Super Mario Odyssey is my favorite mario game (not counting spinoffs) so it's hard to find which kingdom I don't like. Dark side will probably be my least favorite but if we're not counting that, then probably Bowser Kingdom. Just because it isn't even the final kingdom and I feel we could've had the Moon Kingdom be Bowser final obstacle. Why did we need Bowser Kingdom? Feel like the kingdom should've just been an extra kingdom centered around chinese design instead of making it Bowser focus. Also, didn't like the bird type enemy gameplay all that much.
I agree Lake is kinda bad, like I get it's a Lake and not a huge area but my first playthrough I remember getting a Cheep Cheep and then.. finding the edges and thinking "that's it?" legit the most memorable thing was one of the sub areas with the zippers.. which is bad since that doesn't really include the main thing from the kingdom.. the water.. also sucks it's paired with Wooded as your choices, one of the larger kingdoms with tons to do.. and since you are forced to do both anyways it falls short.. At least speedrunners pick it since it's small and (if glitches involved) can be used to skip to metro and stuff
Yeah, like any good storytelling, ending with an epilogue instead of ending on a climax is somewhat a necessity (makes me wanna make a more NSFW analogy but this is UA-cam
"Big Island", from SMB3, I feel, inspired Mario 64's devs for making Tiny-Huge Island, as it uses a similar gimmick of having everything much larger than Mario. And, if I recall correctly (correct me if I'm wrong, it's been so long since I've played to that point in SMB3), using pipes on Big Island, at least in one of the levels, also lets you shift everything from big to small, kinda like Mario 64's Tiny-Huge Island.
Strongly agree with Donut Plains 1 in SMW, but I disagree with your first pick. Navigating those ghosts in water is not what I consider good Mario gameplay. Other levels I would pick as the best would be the bridge level with the secret exit to Soda Lake which includes the iconic Yoshi sacrifice (or being a cape master) sequence, and is just a fun crazy level in general with all the saws and ropes and moving parts. Another is the Chocolate Island level with many variable routes decided by your actions and other factors and multiple exits, that one is really cool. Honestly, I would pick any of the Ghost Houses in the game over the Ghost Ship level, they are all super creative and tricky, and one of them to represent that and how original they were when the game came out (they seem like something that Mario has always had now, but people forget they were invented by Super Mario World, and blew kids' minds back when it first came out, so one of those should be on the list.
True the Cheese Bridge level is honestly super memorable and is where a lot of people's mind comes to when creating stages in Mario Maker (track level with 3 platforms all moving together)
I think Freezeflame doesn't fully utilise its theme as only one of it's main stars actually uses the fact both fire and ice are together in the same galaxy. Stars 1 and 2 are just a regular ice level and fire level respectively. Still a very fun galaxy but could have been done better.
Super Mario Land 2 has no bad zones, but the best is probably Tree Zone. Also, the tutorial level, because the music kicks ass. Worst is orobably one pf the secret levels where the screen moves behind you.
nsmbds enthusiast here 8-8 is one of my favorite levels but honestly i completely understand hating it. my biggest problem with the level is how one of the starcoins requires a mini mushroom, avoiding falling debris while mini is... annoying, to say the least. doesnt help with the kab-ombs running right at u if they get ignited. the main appeal in the level for me is speedrunning it. i love taking a blue shell to that level just to run thru it, its always an exhilarating experience for me and imo its one of the most fun levels to do so in. (that might influence my love for it a bit honestly, but yknow.)
also, i loved the grand finale galaxy in galaxy. it just felt rly pleasant and a nice sendoff to a stellar game, its not much but, does it need to be? galaxy already has the most climactic final boss ever, so i think it's fine to have a nice relaxed level as a sendoff.
I feel like hating something for missed potential is a bit odd. Like if there is missed potential then there is still good things about it, right? No hate to you though
@@dominic7004 when something has a Missed potential, you feel angry, that what end up happening, is a Final product, that no one would remake, which makes you upset, because you see that there could've been done more. I wish he wouldn't have included cloud kingdom because it is clearly not intended as a full area. Agreed though I just do not like the vibe of ruined kingdom
@@dominic7004 Seriously when I landed on Ruined Kingdom, I thought it was going to be like New Donk City. A world unexpectedly put in the game that looks different from what you expect from a Mario game and that dragon boss had me more excited. The screen panning over the world while you land didn't help either because it made it look like there would be more to explore than what was given. Than I defeated the dragon (who felt easier to defeat than Bowser) and realized that was all the kingdom was. Didn't really like the sub areas as much as Cloud's either.
My favorite stages in new Super Mario Bros 2 have to be the Canon levels because they're different than the other new super Mario bros games. Also I really like Flower World - 1 just because of the background and I don't know if you would count the DLC but I like a lot of the DLC stages too
My least favorite in Mario 1 is 8-3, simply because of the trauma all those grounded hammer brothers caused 5-year-old me. Though I understand why a lot would dislike 7-4 more. The correct path through the level is very awkward. My cousin called me long-distance (yeah, this was the early 90s, hehe) just to ask me for the solution to that level after she learned I could beat the game. My favorite level from this game is actually 6-3. I actually liked 7-2 in Mario 2 as it had so much territory to explore, not to mention it was exciting to know I was almost to the end. It might even be my favorite from the game. Least favorite: 5-1. Yeah, and I'm with the pack on Tubular. 😤
Man, I just don’t get all the hate for New SMB 2. I love how the focus on coin collecting changes how you approach Mario (even though the theme seems more Wario-esque). Plus, the golden fire flower is one of the most fun OP power-ups in all of Mario.
Yep, you know I even distinctly remember going into the game not expecting it to be that great for whatever combination of reasons, and that vanished once I started playing it, because it was just so much fun. I wish I could remember it better to say more specifically, as I only played through it one time when it came out, but I remember it being a great game and surprising me with how much fun I had with it. I wonder if the negativity has any relation to the general reasons (that I can't remember, lol) I went into it expecting nothing special, though...?
The hate is definitely from the fact that it's a part of the new super mario bros series which had too many games coming out at the time. Also, comparatively speaking, it seems to be the most uninspired and uncreative game in the new super mario bros series. With the only "gimmick" being coins and the game reusing art style and music from new super mario bros wii. Also, in 2012 Nintendo released New Super Mario Bros U in the same year, making it seem like people are seeing the same game over and over again. To make matters worse, next year they released New super luigi u which is just another new super mario bros game. So, it looks like a rehash to the naked eye. I don't think anyone hates it from a gameplay point of view, just from a rehash point of view.
Freeze flame is my favorite too and partially because of the speed run starts. I also love melty molten. It’s the last main course and very fun and challenging. I also just like fire lol.but really I love every state (I guess besides sea slide?) but yeah Mario Galaxy 1 is my second favorite Mario game After odyssey
The 3D Land one had the opposite problem, it was just too easy. Cloud Kingdom feels like a cop out and it would be cool to see some “actual” worst nominees for this and especially Galaxy where I loved the Grand Finale Galaxy. But this was a great topic and I appreciate the lengths gone to to include even the likes of Land 2 and Lost Levels
The obvious contender for SMB3 worst level would be the level where the friggin' SUN dive bombs you from the sky and tries to murder you. Childhood = traumatized.
it's a little scary but the level is mercifully short, if you spend most of the level running you'll be able to get to the end after only 2-3 swoops from the sun. on top of that, you can kill the sun with a koopa shell.
Go really fast yo, if you jump at the end of the row of blocks on the ground at full height and just keep holding the jump button you will always land directly on the koopa at the next set of rows and this will happen as the sun swoops so you dodge it perfectly. This section is like 70% of the level as well considering it happens twice.
you nailed my favorite for SMW. That level is basically a playground, even though easy to say that the whole game is a playground, where you can go back over and over and it doesn't get old. The only way I beat Tubular myself was to bring in a blue Yoshi and fly my way through by eating koopas.
World 8 Tank actually gave me multiple seizures due to the screen flash. Why on Earth would Nintendo think that was a brilliant idea to flash the screen every second?
15:05 this was straight up a memory unlocked I remember playing this game from a friend who had the game on her wii and her, my brother, her sister and I would play this lvl it was so chaotic and so fun New Super Mario Bros Wii can never be replaced
That face that the level in New Super Mario Bros Wii that has the ice acting as your platforms to walk and run on and then the fire piranha plants firing and melting them as you try to get through the level (forgot the number of this one, but I know it's world 9/special world) isn't considered the worst in that game just reels me because that level is literally *Hell* when trying to get the star coins. And, honestly, even just in general. It's the one my dad and I especially hate doing whenever we decide to do a new playthrough of the game.
The hotel level (Sirena Beach, I believe?) is my favorite in Sunshine. Ironically, Pianta village is my least favorite. I dunno. I felt less attention to detail went into that one than the others in the game.
In NSMBDS, the real World 8-Castle comes after 8-4 and before 8-5. You fight Dry Bowser at the end. The course you’re talking about here is 8-Bowser Castle or 8-Castle 2
don't forget NSLU! frozen fuzzies is really creative, giant swing-along feels like the quintessential NSLU level (fast, green, recognizable elements from NSMBU), and broozers and barrels is really pretty on the other hand, boo's favorite haunt feels a little underwhelming
I might need to think about this. Should a level be considered "worst" just because it's one of the hardest (and what would be my favorite of the hardest levels?)?
Cloud Kingdom is literally the stage for a boss fight. It’s just supposed to be a short cutscene. It not meant to be an extravagant kingdom because you spend like 5 minutes total there.
For me, the best of 64 is that first level. I already felt the nostalgia. As for worst, easily the 100 coin star. Specifically I’m the underwater level where if you mess up getting maybe at least one coin, you won’t have enough and will have to start over
Super Mario 3 is my favorite installments in the 2D series, but I HATE HATE HATE 3-8. There’s a lot of levels that can be really chaotic and grindy, but nothing comes close to how frustrating the tide levels are. Every single time I get to it I use a power leaf or the cloud to avoid the headache.
For Super Mario Bros 3, the worst levels isn’t the fast airship level from W8. It’s not only one level. But it’s basically EVERY single level from W7 Pipe Land. Except for the airship.
I think 8-5 is way more fun, personally, I enjoy it a ton. U can just speedrun it, and go fast, but u need to control and adjust ur positioning because of the falling/rotating platforms.
NSMB2 has some of the best level design of all the 2D games in my opinion. I don't care that the game is easy, because it's fun, and that's all that matters to me
The worst level in smb3 is the airship level in world 8, I have beaten every other level in that game before, but that one level I have always needed a p-wing to pass. Infact it's almost just like tubular from smw, the main problem is too many tiny obnoxious projectiles on screen
For the Galaxy games I liked Toy time Galaxy, the toy aesthetic was awesome, climbing the giant bowser robot and destroying it is memorable, and it was the only stage where the design allowed the Spring mushroom to be fun! I hated the Dusty Dunes Galaxy with quick sand, it might be my boss, but I don’t Desert levels that don’t do something creative, and the comet for this one made me rage so hard it isn’t funny! For Galaxy 2, puzzle plank was cool, but I loved throwback galaxy, it being one of the last levels of the main game was awesome, and it had enough new surprises to not be a rehash, plus unlike some other levels the difficulty is balanced while being fun! In galaxy 2, I despised the level that was just like throwback galaxy, but instead of being a revamped remix, was a annoying rehash, Stone Cyclone Galaxy is CC annoying with how much it tests your patience, is difficult in an un fun way, and it was literally in the last game as a minor mission segment, meaning that it was not even a cool reference!
I think that 9-2 for NSMBU is a good contender for worst stage. It's called, 'Run For It!" and it's a fitting name. The entire course is a P-switch run with tight jumps. At the end you even have moving platforms as well. Not alot of leeway is given for this course, and if you fail to make it to the next P-switch, then the blocks turn to coins. The anxiety-inducing P-switch timer in the background doesn't help making those tight jumps either. This level sucks.
I've never beaten Tubular on SMW the way it was intended. I always pick up blue Yoshi and then make it across until I can jump off a platform and have Yoshi swallow a koopa troopa and fly my way to the end. I tried doing it with the baloon power up but just could never.
For SMB3, my most hated level has to be the world 7-fortress that was completely empty. It was just super creepy and confusing as hell for me. No enemies. No clues, just nothing but exploring.
I hated the fact that the last level of 3D world has no checkpoint. I've played this game in couch coop; we were taking some deaths to come back with a power up to go through some sections. It took us around 9 hours to get through (it took an entire stream + a part of another stream, and I'm usually streaming for 5-6 hours). The most challenging for me is the boost pads part. I suck when it comes to boost pad (I also struggle in Captain Toad Treasure tracker levels with boost pads) and since it's the last part, we have to do everything else over and over and over and over and over again. Not fun. We finished it out of sheer pride, but the last 4 hours weren't fun at all. It doesn't give me any desire to touch that game ever again. I left it on a bitter note.
While I won't deny Tubular sucks, there is a much easier way to do it than as balloon Mario. Grab a blue Yoshi from Star World 2, then eat a Para-Troopa from the first swarm of them and just use Yoshi flight. You might also need a Cape Feather for slowed descent and you might need to time spitting out that first Koopa and eating another to prevent Yoshi from swallowing it and losing his flight permanently, but it beats dealing with Balloon Mario's awkward controls and utter inability to defend himself.
I thought there was another Mariogame before Super Mario Bros. But i might be wrong and his Name was Jumpman. But i for example remember a one Level Game where you jump on Turtles with Mario. Very old Dos Era.
I'd actually say my favorite levels in the original SMB are most of world 6 (which just felt really fun to play through compared to everything else) and 8-3, thanks to the really challenging but fun hammer bros fights NOT ruined by a shit ton of bullet bills coming from everywhete
The first 3d game in the series is Super Mario 64 for the n64 where it’s hard to choose the best level from but in the end I settled is it’s very first bob omb battlefield
Controversial opinion: Grand Finale Galaxy is good. I really enjoyed it! I played Galaxy 2 first, and my reward for my hard work was more hard work. I HATED every second of Grandmaster Galaxy. It was just unfair. For what? A few seconds of joy upon completion? Galaxy 1 handled it better. Your reward for all your hard work was a relaxing stroll down memory lane. It blessed you with a full circle, back to where it all began, almost as if after an arduous journey, you've returned home again to rest. Symbolic, nostalgic, relaxing, satisfying. Rather than Galaxy 2's PTSD fueled hell hole of eternal suffering. That thing made me hate Gusty Garden from day one because I heard the music and was instantly reminded of Galaxy 2's suffering.

Makes sense that Corona Mountain is the worst stage in Mario Sunshine. After all, it's not fun to get Corona...
6:27 And a lot of people HATE that level because it is so unforgiving with the jumps!
There’s not as many clouds as I expected either. There’s not as many clouds as I expected either.
keep doing what you do your content is amazing even re making list that arent personally biased
World 8 Tank actually gave me multiple seizures due to the screen flash.
Why on Earth would Nintendo think that was a brilliant idea to flash the screen every second?
boom
15:05 this was straight up a memory unlocked I remember playing this game from a friend who had the game on her wii and her, my brother, her sister and I would play this lvl it was so chaotic and so fun New Super Mario Bros Wii can never be replaced
21:42 Do you know who else suffers from dementia?
Do you know who else suffers from dementia?
6 - 2 in mario 2 was one of my favorites as well. Just a fun and different game mechanic.
Honestly this guy sounds almost exactly like tennis ball from bfdi. Neat
Nsmbu Best 6-2 Porcuffer falls Worse 9-8 Pendulum Castle
Freezeflame Galaxy is an interesting pick for best from Galaxy- but it’s nice to see it getting some love!
super mario sunshine was definitely the pinball one and the squid racing one where you have to get under a certain time limit.
In 3D Land's 5-2, right before you get the second star coin, you can even hear Zelda's item collect sound effect if Fire Mario lights up the torches
Tubular can actually be beaten without the P-Balloon by using a Blue Yoshi & a Cape Feather!
p.s. Outrageous is a Little Timmy level!
I actually made a couple videos like this for Sonic. Best and Worst levels and Best and Worst bosses. Cool video. I agree with several choices.
Champions Road is too good of a level, glad you put that there
don't forget NSLU!
frozen fuzzies is really creative, giant swing-along feels like the quintessential NSLU level (fast, green, recognizable elements from NSMBU), and broozers and barrels is really pretty
on the other hand, boo's favorite haunt feels a little underwhelming
17:36 Wouldn't be a problem for Nico though
Lol
I might need to think about this. Should a level be considered "worst" just because it's one of the hardest (and what would be my favorite of the hardest levels?)?
Cloud Kingdom is literally the stage for a boss fight. It’s just supposed to be a short cutscene. It not meant to be an extravagant kingdom because you spend like 5 minutes total there.
For me, the best of 64 is that first level. I already felt the nostalgia. As for worst, easily the 100 coin star. Specifically I’m the underwater level where if you mess up getting maybe at least one coin, you won’t have enough and will have to start over
Wow, 😮 early very early. Great video🎉
Me, when he mentions 3/4 of the “worst”levels: “Aw, I love that one!”
If I may make a suggestion for what other remake you can do how about revisiting the best and worst things in general about every Mario game
Freezeflame Galaxy? That’s an… interesting choice for sure.
Really? It’s on the top of most lists I saw and I love it too
@@Copycat_YT Eh, idk, maybe I'm an outlier, but I think it's a pretty mid-tier galaxy. I much prefer Gusty Garden, Ghostly, and Toy Time.
18:25 What about that one dark 3D world level with the top down view?
What about Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island?!?!??!?! One of the best
People really like the slide in tall trunk galaxy?? That was the most infuriating part of the game ever for me as a kid
It was so annoying
Was the repeat at 21:45 intended?
Probably an editing error on his part
I think that 9-2 for NSMBU is a good contender for worst stage. It's called, 'Run For It!" and it's a fitting name. The entire course is a P-switch run with tight jumps. At the end you even have moving platforms as well. Not alot of leeway is given for this course, and if you fail to make it to the next P-switch, then the blocks turn to coins. The anxiety-inducing P-switch timer in the background doesn't help making those tight jumps either. This level sucks.
4:01 Oh yeah, I love that level - and the mechanism it introduces!
Hey, when will you make a video the most average level in each Mario game? Also my favorite level in Mario Galaxy 2 is Melty Monster Galaxy
I've never beaten Tubular on SMW the way it was intended. I always pick up blue Yoshi and then make it across until I can jump off a platform and have Yoshi swallow a koopa troopa and fly my way to the end. I tried doing it with the baloon power up but just could never.
honestly when you got to mario 3 you should have just been like "all the levels are good, moving on"
New Super Mario Bros Wii U 9-2 is the best level in any mario game change my mind
You forgot New Super Luigi U.
For SMB3, my most hated level has to be the world 7-fortress that was completely empty. It was just super creepy and confusing as hell for me. No enemies. No clues, just nothing but exploring.
That level also only gives you 200 “seconds” as well, for an open ended level it’s a weird choice that they gave it no time to be completed.
One reason I like 8-7 so much in NSMBW is because it is the best stage for the multiplayer mode.
For NSMB, my favorite has to be 2-3 or 6-6, and I have so many least favorites
as much as i love the spine coaster level in NSMBW, the skull coaster in Super is so underrated and probably my favorite in the game
how on earth was the pachinko machine from sunshine not named? i beat everything but that and the red coins on lily pads one
13:22 Oh no the second last level is hard!!
*Thats the point*
Edit: just noticed how many final world levels are in this vid
Tall trunk galaxy was fun but maaaaan getting those purple coins were a bitch.
1-2 is always the first Super Mario Bros level I think of and definitely my favorite
Chất lượng, Sỹ Luân chắc thích bản Cover này lắm này! Chúc mừng em cùng toàn thể Ekip F. Studio
Damn that really is a controversial opinion.
@@supaskiltz9877 I like challenging levels. Unfairly difficult ones at the end of a game are overdone though.
Saving the baby penguin, sorry I mean throwing the baby penguin over the edge
17:02
Best level: 5-secret
Worst level:6-6
Surprised the Goomba shoe level didn't get mentioned for best of SMB3, or Tick tock clock for best of 64.
