However, don't you think that Melee having a strong community after almost 2 decades should be something that celebrated by Nintendo? There aren't many games with such standing power like that. Disregarding the legal side of things, what does Nintendo lose out on when fans of their game (that's no longer in production, and yet they still try to crack down on emulation despite giving us no way to legally purchase the game from them) run online tournaments during a pandemic using LEGAL software to make their game playable online? The fact that one guy was able to create an online service that works better than Nintendo's own paid service for their out of production game should be a testament to how much the community cares about their game. If Nintendo had half a brain they'd get that guy's help to work on Ultimate's netcode since they apparently had trouble on it according to Sakurai. All of these mistakes have one thing in common, in my eyes. They were all corporate. All of these mistakes took place either before the WII era, which was when it started to fall from the popular mainstream, or during the hieght/aftermath of it, where the highest up decided that four years of success was enough to bring back the nineties. Bottom line, Iwata saved this company with the WII, but when he did, he also caused its downfall. And after he died, rather than replacing him with another visionary, they replaced him with another corporate entity. Bottom line, Nintendo is no longer what it was, and to continue to succeed successfully they need to accept that and stop pretending that they are. Rant over

@@anastasis2586 I can't afford a switch. (TL;DR: PCs aren't just toys, PCs aren't expensive, Switch games are expensive) Many people have computers for other purposes, like browsing, school, work, art, music, etc. When you buy a PC you're also buying a tool, admittedly one not everyone uses as such, but a tool none the less. Comparing PCs and Switches as gaming machines is flawed because of this. I'm not sure where the idea that PCs are super expensive comes from, as I've seen laptops that I thought would crash run Minecraft at 30 FPS. Not up to modern Gamer(tm) standards*, but these were low low range laptops. To justify buying a gaming console I should buy a handful of games, which in the case of the Switch quickly costs more than the console itself. I still think the Switch is a great console, but it's just less for the money than a PC, depending on your use. The Switch excells at portable gaming. It's pretty much THE portable console. *(I run at low FPS even on decent hardware, since I often break games for fun ^^, so I'm used to sloooow fps)

How is Mario Run that different from any other F2P game on mobile? Or on any platform? I'm not saying they couldn't do better, just that F2P on mobile is always tricky to manage. It mostly boils down to putting in ads, putting in microtransactions, or losing money
@@Kahadi Well, a good mobile game it's Geometry Dash (at least if you forget about the updates thingies for a bit) You have the paid game, with +20 official levels and virtually infinite community levels, also with the option of making your very own levels yourself. If you don't wanna pay for it, you have Geometry Dash Lite for free, it contains +half of the official levels, so you can test the game before buying it, but without access to online. If you want to test online for free to see if your mobile can handle it, you have Geometry Dash World. You can play other small official levels, but u can also play 1 featured/epic rate level made by the community, not only one, but a new one everyday (and those are choosen by RobTop himself, so you know you'll find quality) And if you think Geometry Dash Lite it's a bit old compared to the actual game, RobTop releases small games like SubZero before releasing a big update, so you can test the features for free. I don't wanna sound like a super fan or anything, but mobile market it's pretty underestimated. ^^

Free to plat games suck, mario run was so much better but people shit on it because they couldn't understand for some reason that mobile games cost money too and aren't just free garbage, so we got mario kart tour. This is the video where you've hit your stride with the face camera segments! The first couple had jarring changes in pacing, but I really like how you've sped up your speech/jokes in the new segments and it really helps the video!
Further on Mistake 5, I hate their outlook on glitches in their games. My experience of it has been through Mario Maker. People had a ton of fun messing with the game with glitches and making super cool stuff happen. Nintendo saw that and patched out all the glitches, deleted the levels, and banned the level creators.
The problem with Mario maker (1) is that it's online, and has a mode where you need to get through a bunch of levels in a limited amount of lives to earn a reward. As such the introduction of glitches really breaks that, as someone who is unaware of the glitches could have a run ruined by being unable to beat any levels through no fault of his own, barring him from earning the rewards. This is the primary reason to change the glitches, as well as glitches that straight up break the game and can crash the game, ones that may be able to get pushed into the online so that unsuspecting players may have their game crash when they play a level. Its simply a different situation than other games, even if playing the glitches on your own may be fun, for someone unaware it may ruin the experience. How they handled it in 2 is certainly better, since the levels are kept even when the level editor can no longer recreate it after the update. which also means that people can still play the glitches without it interfering too much. Any other instances of glitches seem to be entirely up to the developer and vary wildly, so I wouldn't even say its a consistent problem with Nintendo, just with certain developers and that extends to the whole industry.
It's not Austrian. It doesn't even sound good in German/Austrian Dialect. (Am Schwierigkeitenfrüchtebaum schütteln?) Nah. There isn't really an idiom for 'asking for trouble' except maybe 'sich Ärger einheimsen' since nobody would ever use 'einheimsen' regularly, then again, can't remember anyone ever saying that in real life.
People forget that Sony tried to thrown Nintendo under the bus, the deal was bad for Nintendo, from Wikipedia "Under their agreement, Sony would develop and retain control over the Super Disc format, with Nintendo thus effectively ceding a large amount of control of software licensing to Sony. Further, Sony would also be the sole benefactor of licensing related to music and movies software that it had been aggressively pursuing as a secondary application, Sony was the sole provider of the audio chip, the S-SMP, used in the SNES and required developers to pay for an expensive development tool from Sony." which is why they went with Philips In the end both companies tried to take advantage of the other and the conclusion was that Sony would have entered the gaming business regardless of what happened, if anything the only mistake was doing business with Philips in the first place
I think thats less of a mistake and much better since now that nintendo is messing up we at least have something else good and major to move to that isnt xbox
@Oscar Nova-Eguizabal The xbox was a move by microsoft to counter the PlayStation since it was making a lot of money. If there had never been a PlayStation, then maybe there would be no xbox.

How the fuck is the community for a game that’s no longer in production supposed to save a series that’s not even in need of help?
@@emblemblade9245 you're misunderstanding the point entirely
@@SmokePudding not really. It's a turnament of a game that's no longer in production, modifying the game in a way that disrespects nintendo's rules, making it literally just illegal.

@@Mqstodon Slippi and The Big House is in no way illegal, please do the research on it. There is a lot of misinformation being spread about this.
And remember, there's no use defending big corporations that only exist to get money from you. Nintendo has done a lot of scummy stuff over the years and defending the guys that don't care about you is really a waste of time.

Rant over

Many people have computers for other purposes, like browsing, school, work, art, music, etc.

Mario kart tour has definitely improved a lot. It still is nowhere near the best, but it is still better than it was at launch.

My biggest problem with nintendo is that they innovate when they have a great formula, (Cough, 3d mario, cough), but they KEEP the systems that completely bomb!
Almost seems like they want each system to be succesful exactly once.
Unless it's pokémon.
@Walther Penne you can innovate without throwing away what was so good before. Odyssey did this pretty well, and it used the sandbox style of previous games
Even a small thing like F.L.U.D.D. in sunshine affected Mario's movement enough to make the experience fresh, and not just "64 but tropical"
@Walther Penne So would you say that Henry Ford did not innovate just because he kept the basic design structure of a carriage?

That intro music will never get old.
Now everytime I hear "Horray" in each of his videos, I will just remember him lifting up a roller
It's so weird how the smallest of mistakes can strike so incredibly big.
There's actually a fog defender spray scuba divers use on their masks while under water that actually does help with the build of of steam on the glasses.
Then where would the virus go? It's better to have it stuck on mask and glasses surface for a while than release the virus in the wild
The spray (defog, as it's called) goes on the scuba mask that you look through, and this person is saying to put it on the glasses, not to defog the mask over your mouth lmao
You can always just mold the wire thing tight though, i kind of get why people are saying that masks give them fog. But its only when you apply it incorrectly.

The biggest mistake of all: not doing a good free to play Mario for mobile
yep
mario run be like: yeah look you can either enjoy only like 40% of the game or give us 10 dollars
How is Mario Run that different from any other F2P game on mobile? Or on any platform?
I'm not saying they couldn't do better, just that F2P on mobile is always tricky to manage. It mostly boils down to putting in ads, putting in microtransactions, or losing money
@@Kahadi yeah, ik it's hard to get money off a game like that
but paying TEN DOLLARS or having about 60% of the game unaccesible seems a little far
@@Kahadi Well, a good mobile game it's Geometry Dash (at least if you forget about the updates thingies for a bit)
You have the paid game, with +20 official levels and virtually infinite community levels, also with the option of making your very own levels yourself.
If you don't wanna pay for it, you have Geometry Dash Lite for free, it contains +half of the official levels, so you can test the game before buying it, but without access to online.
If you want to test online for free to see if your mobile can handle it, you have Geometry Dash World. You can play other small official levels, but u can also play 1 featured/epic rate level made by the community, not only one, but a new one everyday (and those are choosen by RobTop himself, so you know you'll find quality)
And if you think Geometry Dash Lite it's a bit old compared to the actual game, RobTop releases small games like SubZero before releasing a big update, so you can test the features for free.
I don't wanna sound like a super fan or anything, but mobile market it's pretty underestimated. ^^
Which is good?? Free to plat games suck, mario run was so much better but people shit on it because they couldn't understand for some reason that mobile games cost money too and aren't just free garbage, so we got mario kart tour. Which i mean isn't bad really, i just really liked the mario run approach better

Funny you mention that, Ceave has an entire video on that topic alone.
I understand why they patched the glitches, but banning the creators went too far.
Thats just being a bunch of salty assholes, really.

These are good picks, but in surprised the entire “Nintendo PlayStation” situation isn’t on here.
He acknowledged at the end of the video about how he missed that.
What was that?
People forget that Sony tried to thrown Nintendo under the bus, the deal was bad for Nintendo, from Wikipedia "Under their agreement, Sony would develop and retain control over the Super Disc format, with Nintendo thus effectively ceding a large amount of control of software licensing to Sony. Further, Sony would also be the sole benefactor of licensing related to music and movies software that it had been aggressively pursuing as a secondary application, Sony was the sole provider of the audio chip, the S-SMP, used in the SNES and required developers to pay for an expensive development tool from Sony." which is why they went with Philips
In the end both companies tried to take advantage of the other and the conclusion was that Sony would have entered the gaming business regardless of what happened, if anything the only mistake was doing business with Philips in the first place
